Default to phone off on reboot? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Is there a registry setting that can be changed that would prevent the phone/radio from starting up whenever the XDA exec is reset?
If I were using something such as the twin sim service from Orange that enabled you to use two sims with the same account, it would be a bit annoying if the XDA rebooted and activated the phone, when I was already using it in another phone.

It might be more effective to switch off the radio before rebooting, as the radio is initialised when you reboot. So if you tried to switch off the radio on reboot, it would start the radio, and then switch off the radio.
However, if you use mortscript or similar to reboot, you could make a script using VJVolubilis to disable the radio, use VJEschaton to reboot, and when you switch on again the radio should already be off (flight mode).
That sounds a bit strange - maybe I'm talking crazy...

Aha, didn't realize that the radio state was persistent after a reboot, thanks.

I have the opposite problem
After installing the 2.06 rom whenmy 8525 reboots it does so in flight mode? Any ideas on what may be causing this?

No return from standby mode...

Hi all!
With the latest Dopod's ROM it was nice for the first month, but now I have strange behaviour.
Sometimes the device does not return from standby/suspend mode. It does nothing at all if I press the power button. The LEDs are blinking as usual and if I call my mobile from other phone, I got no answer signal, whi my Prophet does not ring at all, means that GSM part works. Any alarmas and notifications fails to appear, as well.
I noticed, that the prsence of any extra unclosed applications increases the chance to hang. So far, I have no idea how to workaround it...
Any ideas? Is someone have the same problem?
It happens to me with my JAMin with both the old and the new WWE rom. somebody exolain it with the backlight settings, but nobody really understand why it happen
Someone alse have this problem?
I also had this issue for a time. I performed a hard reset and it stopped happening, so I am going to assume that it probably had something to do with some of the software that I had installed on it. My money is on SPB PocketPlus. I've not installed it since the hard reset and it hasn't happened since.
Any extra ideas?
I have the same behaviour since the very first day i upgraded to the latest rom.
I find that it happens regularly if it does, meaning you soft reset the device to get access again and then sure enough one hour later again the same behaviour. I have been on travel the last weeks, where i did not have a chance to sync the device and I have not experienced this behaviour at that time.
Maybe it has something to do with the Sync Process.
I hope we can dig into this a little more because it is really annoying. Especially if you consider that the phone does not ring anymore so you never know if someone calls or not.
Cheers Ulf
Password?
Have you set a password on your phone? If so, then remove the password and see if it makes a difference.
Yes I use the Password Funtcion on the PDA part and also for the SIM card.
I will try to turn off the PDA password and see what happens.
I keep you posted.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Ulf

Hi All,
turning off the PIN function has solved the problem. The effect is reproducible.
Raised a next question though:How to protect from your wife sniffing into your private appointments without using the PIN?
Gruss Ulf
I have no used any passwords, but has the problem. I've noticed that it happens when the phone is charging. But not only that.
i had the same issue...i read before somewhere in the other forums...(maybe this forum but couldn't find it) to adjust the backlight and standby time to the same value..that fixed mine and hope will work on yours.

Thanks great, so far it helps. If I got the bug agait - I will post. BTW, on the Dopopd's 2.15 it is the only reason for softreset, all the rest works fine!
I have the same problem with prophet touch IX and VIII.
Sometimes, after the device was set to standby (or the display was disabled after some minutes), I can't enable it by pressing the powerbutton.
It seems to have contact to the GSM net (you can call the phone, but it won't ring).
ActiveSync also recognizes the phone, but won't connect.
Maybe this happens less often with battery ~70-100%, but I'm not sure.
The problem occured some weeks after installing Touch IX, and didn't disappear after changing to Touch VIII.
With pdaviet 6, there wasn't anything like this (only the known bootscreen-freeze-problem).
Any ideas?
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.

Phone mode not automatically loaded when switching on

I have a problem that started after a couple of days. Originally the device automatically started the phone when switching it on, so after the boot up sequence automatically the pin check was displayed.
Since yesterday the device no longer activates the phone, and I manually have to enter the comm manager and activate the phone which is quite nasty as I did not notice the phone module was off the whole day.
Is there any registry entry that forces the device to activate the phone module each time when switching on? The strange thing is that when doing a soft reset the phone module will be activated automatically, this only happens when powering the system off and back on (i.e. each morning).
Thanks.
I had the same thing. Are you using a close utility ?
Putting the Comm Manager in the exceptions for InClose solves the problem. The phone is still sometimes slow starting up though.

No, it's basically out of the box with only 1-2 applications installed and uninstalled, so one of them must have been the reason.

Bluetooth Dying!

Using a T-Mobile (USA) MDA, HTC Wizard, with the last official T-Mobile ROM, version 2.26.
Just very recently, Bluetooth often stops working, and I cannot get it back on again.
I try various ways of turning it back on. For instance:
1) The BT icon in the tray using the "Battery Status Today plug-in. (Actually I have the newest one, now called "Home Screen Plus Plus".)
2) An app called "Bluetooth Toggle, an icon to click that should switch BT ON and Off.
3) Comm Manager
4) Settings, Connections Tab, Bluetooth settings.
None of those work. In any of them, when I click where ever one should to turn on BT, the screen freezes there, only to be resolved by a soft reboot.
Sometimes on rebooting, BT is working again, but other times not. In fact, for the last several hours today, I have not been able to turn BT on again at all, despite reboots.
Does this sound like a hardware problem, or could it be something that could be resolved through software?
Any suggestions, registry tweaks, etc.?
I guess I could try a hard reset or reflash. But before trying something that drastic, which would require reinstalling all my apps, reconfiguring, etc., I'm wondering if there is something else I can try.
Or, if it's an irrepairable hardware problem, then I should perhaps look for another phone as soon as possible, as I want to have BT. I was waiting though, for a good new 3G WM phone to come out on T-Mobile in the next months. So, I would rather fix the MDA to use for a couple more months, rather than getting a Dash or Shadow now. (Wouldn't get the Wing, as I would prefer my next phone to be smaller and lighter than the MDA.)
Any suggestions on what to try, to see if I can get BT working again?
The change often seems to occur on re-booting. BT is working fine. On re-booting the MDA, BT is off, and I cannot turn it back on, as described above.
However, sometimes on rebooting again, it turns back on.
Any explanation for this?

Bad Flash?

Hi Guys,
I've upgraded to the WWE 1.66 ROM for the hd2 and I was not prompted to the default set-up screen where you can set-up your carrier, wifi etc.
When i got to power off my hd2, i can see the set-up just before it truns off.
Is there anything i can do to go through this initial set-up? everytime i reboot, my wifi is on.
If you have just flashed a new rom do a hard reset!
its always advisable to do a hard reset after flashing a new rom, (apparently it makes it run smoother)
but if that doesn't helpthen you can try disabling sense and you may find the wizard is running behind it.
(settings menu all settings home items untick sense)
edit a few days ago I read of someone with a wizard in thee background and when they put the phone into airplane mode it came to the front
Thanks guys,
I put the phone on airplane mode and the screen came to front.
This might be a bug with the ROM install process? dont know if other people are having this problem, but defo a prob with WWE.
I flashed ROM, hard reset, put phone on airplane mode, went through the wizard, turned airplane mode off, then it detected my carrier settings.
Awesome.

N1 data connection issue... please help!

Hi everyone, I had a quick question I needed your assistance on.
Sometime I put my N1 into Airplane mode to save battery and when I finally turn airplane mode off I can never seem to get a data connection unless I totally shut off the phone and turn it back on again. Coming out of Airplane mode there will be a 3g signal on the status bar but only the up arrow will light up and anything needing data (browser, market, etc) wont work unless I totally shut off the phone and turn it back on again. Is this happening to you too?
The same thing happens if I open up the Quick Settings app and turn off mobile data (to save battery) and when I turn mobile data back on I have to restart the phone entirely for it to work properly.
It seems like my phone might be having an issue with data connection so I might have to call up HTC about it but I wanted to find out from the other members on the forum if this was happening to them too.
Thank you for your help
It's happened to me before using APNdroid.
Apparently you can fix it by turning the radio on and off in the testing menu (*#*#4636#*#), never tried it though.
Check that:
