Hey
. I have an XDA2i. The problem that I am encountering, is to do with the ringer. When I recieve a call, the tone comes on, but it cuts out for a split second every 3 seconds (i've timed it, it's every 3 secs) which makes for a very broken up melody lol!
The onboard sound is working fine and all tones play fine in the sounds and settings window, and when txts come through it's fine too... seems to just be incoming telephone calls.
can anyone help me with this problem please??

Good vibrations...?
Hey Bane,
Do you have the ringer set to "Ring and Vibrate"? The vibration at times could interfere with the ring-tone, and would explain the 3 second thing. Another option is the tones sample rate, is this an mp3 ring-tone? I have noticed that the driver to play incoming call tones does not support high quality files, try down sample the tone and see if you can hear a difference.

RE: Good vibrations
The phone is set to ring and vibrate, but I have tried it every which way... same problem. And I know that it isn't a result of the file, as it is a problem which has manifested within the past 2 weeks. I have been using the same tone for the past few MONTHS. Quite odd, the file incidently is a WAV file also.
I'm gonna try a hard reset when i get the itme. ( can't remembe how long the backup battery takes to deplete to give me a proper hard reset, but I'll give it a go)
Thank you very much for the tips mate, I had great hopes that the answer WOULD be one of the few you suggested, but no such luck

SORTED!
Hello there. For anyone reading this topic who had the same problem as me.... I eventually found the time to make a back up on my SD card and perform a hard reset, and this has sorted out the problem! weird though it was... a hard reset works

On recieving a text message no alert is sounded.
Worked last night, doesnt this morning. With clam shell shut it means you dont know if you have recieved a message and constantly need to manually check.
Checked all the settings regarding sound notifications and everything seems to be correct. All the correct tick boxes are ticked.
Tried changing to vibrate still nothing.
When changing the alert sound, pressing the play button, to hear what it is does nothing.
All sounds play ok in media player so no corrupt files.
When changing the ring tone in sound notifications the ring tone plays ok, it seems to be with all the other notifications.
I have done a search on this topic to no avail, others have had similar problems but all down to not having set the phone up correctly.
I have done a soft reset and a hard reset, both resolve nothing.
Corporate install on the hard reset.
I upgraded to the new radio 1.06 on friday and all seemed to be going well upto this morning. Havent seen anything related to this on the upgrade thread.
ROM 1.13.82
Radio 1.06.00
ExtRom 1.13.188
Phoned O2 they are sending a new phone out which is all well and good, but just out of curiosity I wondered if anyone else had come across this.
I vageuly remember having something similar, but it was when I was using some .wav's i'd gotten off the web. If I remember right, they played fine when hitting the Play button, but when an SMS came in, it either wouldn't play or just hang the XDA. If fixed it by converting the .wavs into 11khz stereo to match with the ones preinstalled by O2, and it all worked.
Don't know if thats related to your problem, but I assume you tried the regular .wavs and they didn't work either, so a new XDA was probably the best thing anyway
Funnily enough it was with a wav file that I have been consistantly using upto the other night when it stopped working, but like you said I tried with the other sounds but to no avail and no vibrating either.
But at least with a new machine I can raise the rubber screen stops before the marks start and also there wont be a dent on the outside where I accidently knocked it while in my pocket.
And hopefully the hinge may be tighter, and the keyboard may work properly, ( c and space keys need a bit more force ).
But apart from that the phone is great.
well... so far i'm loving my tmobile mda after i've updated to the imate kjam rom (aku2) and of course readded some tmobile customizations and other tweaks..
anywho..
i noticed an alarming problem and wanted to see if others have had this problem or if its specific to my device and setup.
i tried calling a pal last night (he has a landline) and received a busy signal tone. After i hung up, i went back to watching my tv shows i have on a miniSD in Media Player 10 on my mda. The video played fine but the sound no longer played. Checked out TCPMP and same problem, no sound.
Then went into my system settings > Sound Notifications and again, no sound at all.
did a soft reset, sound is back. So i tried calling pal again to get the busy tones; got busy signal and again lost all sound.
So is this a WM5 bug or have i done something to mess up my busy signal tone? i have not done any sound related tweaks (before my last hard reset i did the microphone boost hacks but decided on not doing that this time around)
peace
I haven't had the busy=no sound but I have had the no sound after less than a day on standby--do a soft reset and it's back until who knows when--I have posted this issue but no one has responded yet in both this forum and another one--I have even googled the issue and still can't figure it out--This only started after I installed the latest ROM. Any one have an idea as to why this is happening? It's very annoying to have to reset my handset every day as well as not know when the sound will go out thus missing an important call. Much help would be VERY appreciated!!
BTW I have no 3rd part apps installed
I have the same problem
HELP !!!!!!
weard thing:
When I call to myself, (only to test the busytone) all sounds dropps after hung up. The only solution until now, to get it going are by a softreset,
BUT, if I do a call to another number after hung up, all sounds are back!!!
Without doing softreset!!!
So seamonkey420 could you try this and report?
Hi !
Has somebody found some solution to reduce the delay for the ringtones for blackstone ?
I've installed the second cab here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258109) as well as write in the registery (av0pw0r), but i can't reduce the delay under (almost) 2 ring tones, eventough i use a *.wma file.
I've also tried to play on HD tweak (1.7 option), but this does not change anything...
This is very annoying me, i've already lost some calls.
I haven"t tried yet a cooked ROM, but i wonder if this would change something
Please help
make sure the ringtone is on the phone and not card. That helped me a lot.
tks for your answer.
But well, i use (for the moment) the "Alarm-Classic.wav" under windows\rings, so i think it's ok from this side
How much delay do u have ?
hi.
using wma ringtones I get a response on my HD in about 1 ring after a soft reset. From the second call on the HD rings at about half a ring to the caller.
three rings from to wake from soft off.
but i forgot to say that if the phone is already "on", the delay is about 1/2 half ringtone, which is acceptable ! .
It seems that the additionnal delay (about 1 sec.) comes from the phone to go from "standby" to "on"
I've always had a delay with every HTC I've had (C500, C600. E650, Touch HD) using standard and custom ROMs with ringtones as WAV's and MP3's on the device and the storage card. I got used to it ages ago and if the phones on my desk can now predict an incoming call before it rings
Hi,
I was also searching for a solution on the ring tone delay issue. Guess that is a winmobile thing.
However there is no delay if you switch off the ring-tone and enable vibration mode only. That is weired behavior of the phone cause why cannot the ring-tone sound as fast as the vibration comes in vibmode only? And why does the vibration comes as late as the ring-tone when in combi-mode?
I am afraid there is no solution so far...
Regs!
this delay is something you'll have to learn to live with, unfortunately. at least in europe people seem to be finding loud and/or dodgy ringtones not very nice, and when dealing with the wiindows mobile vibrate mode is the one to go for.
another suggestion is to set up a caller tune, people are more likely to wait longer when they're listening to music.
ive found i can get it to ring at 1 ring if i turn off caller id pictures on s2u2
Yeah, the operating system does all the checks and clearing up before handling the call to prevent dropping, the way WM handles things, you can't get way from the delay, slowing the CPU with app like a nuedynamicclock worsens it. Well I notice a call before it rings if it is on

All my wm devices have had this issue. My blackstone lights up from sleep a good 2 to 3 sec. before the first ring. I use the old phone ring tone and have four fairly well spaced rings before vm kicks in. I just count the rings as I get to the phone and it has become a non issue. The hd tweek for it seemed not to have an effect btw. Also I'm with t-mo usa and using their code I have my ringtime set to max rings. which is 30 sec. before vm.
Hi all, tried searching for the topic but couldn't find anything so please bear with me
I have discovered that when receiving an incoming call, having set up a ringtone from the device, the first ring is sort of dodgy, like fading in and out. its hard to explain, but its like the volume gets high then low and so on.
however, after the first ring, the second and third appear to be with a stable volume.
can anyone help? and i have already set the ringing style to Ring not increasing.
your help is highly appreciated, thanks.

another problem i am having... i didnt really want to make a new thread.
its with the GPRS. I have set my email to check every 2 hours, and have used HDtweaks to make the gprs to disconnect after 1 minute. the problem is the GPRS almost always stays connected, and i have to disconnect it manually. I am only worried cause it drains alot of battery power i believe.
HELP!

Does this Ring problem happen with every ring tone you select?
As with GPRS HD Tweak should stop connection after it has detected the connection is no longer in use, check your settings in HD Tweak to make sure it is set and maybe try a few different selections of disconnect time.
Also try changing the email check too
Have you installed any other tweak programs?
cheers for the reply mate. the problem happens with every ringtone i select. Today i found something interesting, when i use SPB shell the problem with the ringing tone disappears! its there only on the touch flo, how wierd is that?!
about the gprs, i have tried many times, sometimes it disconnects and sometim it goes on and on until i disconnect it manually.
thanks for your help anyways

I don't think there is a post about my issue. I apologize if I am wrong. (not good at searching in forums).
Anyway I've had my HD2 for about 6,7 months now and I have had no problems. But just recently I have noticed I am getting A LOT of missed calls. And sometimes they're very important to me.
So I decided to test it out and call myself. Now the call goes through but there is no ringtone. I looked in the settings and everything seems as it should be, I tried changing the ringtone too and a couple settings. The System volume and Ring volume are both at Max. I can recieve messages fine and there is a tone. It's just calls that are my main problem.
So I am not sure how to overcome this, please let me know.
Thanks in Advance.
Had this problem yesterday. even soft reset didnt help.
And then suddenly it started work again.
