At present using the TMobile VarioII rom the battery life wont last a day on normal useage using 3g. The 3g switch application has greatly improved the battery life as it enables us to easily select gsm network and when we do use 3g we can get it to switch back after a time.
However does anyone have any opinion on whether the forthcoming HTC English ROM release (most likely AKU3.2) will improve the 3g battery consumption enabling us to use the handset as HTC intended.
I know a ROM upgrade for my Wizard improved my battery life considerably

What a question! How should we be able to know that by now? Let's wait and hope ... same for the Wifi reception b.t,w.

I am running the Cingular ROM 1.34.502 and I am wondering when the new ROM will be released? I expect them to write a OS that will greatly reduce the battery demand. I am averaging about 8 hours of battery life.
Is it coming soon? This is a really big demerit to an otherwise great product.
Yes, there's a new Cingular ROM in the works that will include PTT. I would assume that it will be released in Q1 because that's when they originally said the PTT service would be available on 3G phones.
i hope its soon cause this phone is too buggy at the moment! my wizard was so much more stable but there were loads of roms available why is it so slow for roms on this phone?
Hello,
I'm using my HD2 on the french network of Orange.
I previously owned a P3600 and a HD1. With both of these phones I had a strong network signal inside my house (H with 2 or 3).
My HD2 is switching all the time between HSDPA, edge and GPRS.
I'm very disappointed with its network sensitivity.
Are there other users experiencing similar troubles ?
Thanks
Sebastien
+1 to that.and i am havinng another problem.
every time my phone switches from H to 3G i cannot connect to the internet.but when it goes back to H everything is back to normal.
Yes, having the same issues. Very poor signal. Every time I pick up the phone, I lose the signal completely. I have to put it down after composing a text, wait for the signal to come back and then send it.
Hopefully a future radio update might improve it.
Yes agreed - having very similar issues. My phone is also continually switching between 3G and GPRS. It does this seemingly at random. I do not change the way I am holding the phone, nor am I moving. doesn't seem overly good to me.
I seem to have form for buying phones that have poor reception quality. My previous phone (HTC G1) was just the same.
My wife has had a Nokia N95 then recently a Nokia 5800 - these have both had a far better and more stable network reception.
Ok i'm not alone !!!
I really need a new radio ROM !!
PLUS 1 more!
I AM really disappointed to pay 615 EUR for that ****! Of course the HD2 is not trash but the radio unit (with stock radio rom) is it indeed.
see signature for details.
Yes, even the stock Radio rom of my HD1 was far better than this one !
+1 more.
Even in an areas where the signal normally was great with my Kaiser it is now totally gone.
It's nice to have such a wonderful internet machine and not be able to find a good network to use it
There is a 1.48 TEST rom floating in the rom development subforum.
This has improved the signal tremendously for me as it has a new radio.
Proceed with Caution though as it is a TEST Rom, not supported from HTC.
You will lose your warranty if your phone develops a problem and if you need to send it in for repair with this Rom.
Once that has been said, its a great Rom with a lot better signal and a lot better battery life at least for me

Sorry, I'm new to WM. Is a TEST rom an official, beta ROM or some sort of custom build?
Its a beta Rom coming from HTC. It is official but not final. It is a Test
Yes, sorry to hear that guys, my hd2's radio is a **** as well. Same symptoms.
Hope a new ROM will solve this issue.

Apparently some new ones are shipping with 1.48 so there should be a stock build up soon.
Mine's due for delivery tomorrow so with any luck it will already have 1.48
Cool this new rom seems promising.
I will try it tomorrow I think !
I wonder if the crappy 3G and H (hsdpa) signal level is a 'local' ROM issue or is it common to all HD2 (WWE). Most reviews I'd read praise the reception capabilities of HD2.
I plan o migrate from HD to HD2, but if this is the case then I intend to wait till a better (official) radio is available.
me too. My previous HD had fully 4 bars 3G all the time in my flat. Now my HD2 switches between 3 and 4 bars. It has definitely worse radio reception than HD had. But only because of this I won't reinstall everything, I think a new official radioROM (and xSPL) will be out in a couple of weeks.
Kchris, yours seems very usable
On mine, the networks switchs all the time between H and E and G
What is very strange is that some people aren't experiencing any trouble with the network sensitivity.
Maybe it's just our phones which have a hardware trouble ???
That's weird, I have the WWE 1.43 ROM and the reception is actually better than on my old P3600.
It's also almost always on HSDPA (4 bars most of the time), it only switches to 3G on rare occasions (or after a soft reset, before the data connection of course )
What is the ROM version you guys have?
i have a TMO HD2
OS-5.2.21892
Manilla Version-2.5.20121412.2
ROM-2.13.531.1
Radio Version-2.10.50.26
Protocol Version-15.39.50.07U
I have pretty good service, and have been searching for a better Radio. I am a US TMO user, in southern New Orleans, La.
This thread is for best users in my area or around my area that have used different radio roms to increase call/ and 3g quality,
thank you
Your best bet would be to just start trying them. I know it's great to have somebody else telling you what has worked best for them but it's just that. What one person might see as good another might not. One person might see better reception but huge battery lose as acceptable while another person might take a hit with reception for better battery life. There is only one person that can answer that question for you and that is yourself.
right now im using chucky's rom latest version with radio 2.10.50.26~2 with bangsters adnroid rom and i get tmobile's H rather than 3g although sometimes in some areas around new orleans i get a E signal but its pretty good for the most part
Based on the what folks have been posting in thread below, you have the best radio for call quality (but it uses up battery). Another radio version (2.12.50.02) has better battery life, but poor call quality. I read all 38 pages, but for tl;dr, that's the gist of everyone's experiences.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=669733
I was also using 2.10.50.26 for the longest time but it has a lot of problems with android roms............. that's if you ever decide to start using Android.
I am getting my T-Mobile Tab on Friday and have a few questions. Based on what I have read, my desire for flexibility, oc ability, and conservative battery use when needed are met pretty good if I use the Overcome rom and kernel.
I am not married to that idea, but it looks good. One of the many tipping points for me when choosing the Tab over the Streak 7 was the Samsung customized calendar app and the ability to make calls on the Tab with the rotohammer modem switcher.
So, my questions are -
1) Is it possible yet, in any rom, or by some method, to make voice calls on a T-Mobile Tab and keep the 3G data capability? I dont care if I can surf and talk at the same time, but do I have to look forward to calls and EDGE or no calls and 3G?
2) What service plan do I need to be sure I have if the answer is yes I can now have 3g and voice calls without a reboot
3) If I can only have 3g or voice, where should I look for tweaks to make the Tab reboot as fast as possible?
4) Does the Overcome rom specifically, or any rom, keep the customized Samsung apps, especially the calendar?
5) What is the best way to do a test of measurable battery life? Some way to keep the display on while streaming a movie or something, until the device shuts off on a low bat? I want to measure the actual battery life under the same conditions with the stock rom and some custom roms. This summer I will be camping and may not have charging capability when the Tab needs it, so I'd like to know positively that the changes I make are really improving battery life in measurable ways, not just subjective guesses.
Thanks
Keith
P.S. I'm not a dev, but nowhere near a n00b either. My current device is a Droid A855 with Simply Stunning 5.1, and the only reason I haven't flashed on something else in the last 2 weeks is because I knew this Tab was gonna go thru, so I have focused on learning what to do to make the Tab a reasonable replacement for my tablet PC, an IBM Thinkpad x41T running Lubuntu 10.10. Just so whoever responds knows, I'm just new to the Tab, and not opposed to gutting an OS and replacing it with another one
1) In regards to this question, I believe CDMA version by Sprint has some tweaks done to it. How good is it and if you have to do switch roo on it I am not too sure....I suggest research CDMA version in XDA forum
2) None that I am aware of as I am looking for the same. However, I have a international version which supports both CDMA and GSM network and I am wondering if I can use a prepaid sim and then sign up with Sprint or Verizon on their data plan...dont have answer to this yet personally

I am planning to buy this Phone - HTC Imagio Unlocked. I will be using this Phone in India with Vodafone GSM. I like the features of this Phone so much that I am tempted to buy it within no time .....
I read a lot of criticism on some features like -
1. Its battery is very bad. If true, how can I tweak the Phone to give me maximum battery life ?
2. Processor is slow. Any tweaks possible ?
3. Does it have FM & a stylus ?
Can you please echo your experiences over here .... Please.

use application on Attach below to overclock the CPU, yes there is an FM radio and a stylus! You can check it at ~ http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1784&view=1&c=verizon_htc_imagio_xv6975_htc_whitestone_100
Regarding overclocking
Yes, but does overclocking have long term effects on the Processor ?
Also, how can I prolong my battery life to give me more Talktime during daily usage ?
during overclock is not too excessive, it would not be so influential on the processor !
I have used this phone in India on Vodafone and it works fine. Never had any issue with battery life but I wasn't talking for an excessive amount of time. Setting it to GSM mode only may help. The phone has a stylus but you should rarely need it.
Search for WiMoSpeed for an easy-to-use overclocking software. If you run stock ROM, it should be pretty quick without any overclocking. If you are running a cooked ROM, overclocking does help. You will have to figure out how fast you can overclock your phone by experimenting.
Also working fine on T-Mobile US prepaid
Very nice phone for the price! I missed my old HTC Wizard and I'm very glad to have a great smartphone again. Goodbye toy Nokia 5230!
If you're not using it with a CDMA carrier, turn off CDMA mode. Better battery and no weird error popups about dialing errors or registering the phone on Verizon network.
3G GSM will not work in USA/Canada, wrong band.
T-Mobile prepaid locks down Web 2 Go access on smartphones. This phone seems to confuse their gateway though, and will allow you to purchase (but not actually use) a $1.49 day pass.
Wifi works great. I have a T-Mobile Rocket USB stick with a cradlepoint 'pocket' router. Perfect solution to the lack of data access on T-Mo prepaid, and I can share via wifi with up to 16 devices.
EnergyRom is a very nice upgrade. I'm glad I did this.
I wish there was an Android port for this phone, but I understand there won't be because of obscurity.
Working with iOS devices at my job makes me glad not to be an Apple fanboy. There is no comparison when it comes to freedom to mod, update, find apps, use my phone the way I WANT.
