"safe' overclocking speed? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Is there any kind of general consensus as to what is the safest speed one can overclock the 8125 without hurting it?
I have been running mine at 234 since last Friday evening and I'm not even sure I've had to reboot it.
Thanks
David

240 or 260
it depends on what program you are using to overclock. If you are using the omapclock with omapclockplus, you can overclock to 240. Same goes with using omapclock and smartskeys. If are using something like the BatteryStatus plugin, you can clock to 260.
In actuality, if you use the BatteryStatus plugin and overclock using any of the other two methods, it will indicate 260, even though the others will indicate 240. Probably some sort of programming issue. Of Key note is that when you use omapclock, the consule program indicates the default at 180Mhz, even though the default settings of your phone will indicate 195Mhz. BatteryStatus appears to default at 195Mhz, so it has a different base point.

My 8125 is overclocked at 273mhz using battery status and is running great.

That is a really sweet today screen. Can you share it with us?
Thanks!

Have no probs with a constant 240MHz either.

Thanks for the reply.
I am using Battery Status.
I went ahead and bumped it up last night to 260 and so far no problems. The phone seems ALOT more responsive since overclocking. Not so much from 240-260 but from the default to 240.
Thanks all for the reply, and PS to texasaggie1: "WOOP!"

My overclocking speed
I like to use 221mhz. When I go higher my battery really starts to drain quicker.

Using batterystatus, My Cingular 8125 runs at 299MHZ without problem for almost 3 month now.

You have to excuse me 'cuase my English is quite awful.
In response to the question:
O2 XDA Mini S with AKU2 running at 264mhz all the time.
I used OmapClock to overclock.

Yeah, RAM and processors all leave the factory with very different performance levels. For example, remember the Core Solo CPUs that Intel used to sell way back when? Well, those were just Core Duos with broken second cores. Instead of throwing them away, they decided to make some money off them.

Highest overclock on Wing/P4350?

I can only get 243mhz stable. At 260mhz, it works for a while, but then the screen starts getting a little ... squiglly is the best way to put it I guess. At 273mhz, the screen is unusable.
Definitely will not try higher, but I've seen people on here with 299mhz!!
284mhz with my last wing, I haven't tested this one. With my ROM, I don't really need the extra clocks to run smoothly.
I use batterystatus and set the omap to 247 and then let cpuscaler do the rest when it is sitting idle or whatnot. Seems to work for me!
I am running 299mhz perfectly stable on ttrans open touch 3.0 biggy with battary status. If I use scaler for some reason its not stable so I dont use it.
Although batterystatus claims that I'm running at 299mhz, omapclock says it's 276mhz. Both will cause it to freeze if I go any higher. I just kept increasing it until it froze, reset, and went with the last working setting. Just from reading here, there doesn't seem to be much consistency. Some wings freeze, while some work perfectly. I guess it depends on the mood of the assembler that day. But I have a problem with underclocking to save power. The screen makes this God-awful hissing whenever the speed drops below 188mhz.

The biggest thing with the inconsistency is the processors and roms, no processors are exactly the same, some heat up faster etc. and also the rom has a play in the speed factor with how fast it can go, if its processing too much at that speed it will heat up faster.

Im working perfectly stable on 312MHz.
Sometimes it's a bit wierd but then CPUscaler helps me out

I was just now messing with my phone and said well lets see if i can run 312 so i did. It worked pretty well until i opened up solitaire, and then the screen looked like it was vibrating lol... so i changed it back real quick, that and the temp went up to 99 degrees F. I was like WOAH!!!
Mine is at 247 w/ CPUscaler enabled. 260 and it gets jittery. Anything past that and it turns white and locks up.
5ghz
my wings antenna broke and i cant connect to any networks anymore but i have a touch pro 2 anyways so im going to see just how high i can overclock it before it dies!!! mwa hah hah

i would also like to know this, thanks.
everyone has their own opinion but I think the hd2 shouldn't go anywhere near the pool, never mind how big it is.. It might get wet
ok personally I find the pagepool set at 22mb to work best for me...
I set mine to 16, but i might be way off I think its a matter of taste and depends on the ROM.
Can we use the PagePoolChanger.exe that I used on my Diamond roms for the HD2? if it does work it looks like the standard roms are 15meg. Ill probably set mine to around 22meg, the phones got loads of ram and a bigger pool should help things out
is a larger pagepool better for the hd2?
sorry for my ignorance
what is the best and fastest way to set pagepool?
thx...!!!
Can someone post me the link to pool tools ?
I need info about default pool sizes
thanks

Depending on the apps you use and so forth. Pagepooling is the ability to change the amount of virtual memory the OS uses to run programs. So for instance, larger more intense apps like tomtom require more memory to run so with a larger set pp, tomtom will open faster.
A general rule of thumb is that larger is better however, there are limits to this as if you go too far, it will work in reverse.
Testing the limits using benchmarks is the most objective way to discern performance improvements and/or limitations. If there are significant improvements between tests, then the nake eyes should be sufficient to conclude.
The HD2 does have some nice memory overhead so it should be fun to see what this baby can do....

Xannytech's HD Rom uses 20mb.
The HD2 which has almost double the resources should be able to hit 24mb easy.

OK, thus have you check to see if this happens:
• the higher the PP the lower your Program Memory goes, yes?
If it doesn't change as you change your PP, then it doesn't work.
I believe you however some people think it's working and sometimes it actually doesn't. Do the above test to see if it works...

I set my to 0 (auto) and
It has been running very well and very fast.
Will see ...

why am i stuck at 663mhz??

can figure out how to get my speeds above 663? i got this giant processor and cannt use near close to all of it??? thanks
Did u try SetCPU for it?
It is AUTOMATIC. Just because you're not seeing the 998mhz, doesn't mean it's not getting there when under adequate load.
It is kinda same like on newer cpus for pc. maybe it says 2.66 Ghz but it is not clocked like that whole time. just "under pressure"
Actually, I recall someone else posting about this a few days ago, and another XDA'er pointed out that the app was measuring one way, and the true speed was actually 1.5 times that measurement. 663*1.5=994.5mhz. Again, you're fine.

Overclock Droid Pro

I've been unable to overclock beyond the actual spec of 1ghz. Yes, I'm pretty pleased having been able to choose, granularly under what conditions it uses what amount of CPU - but I'd prefer to have the physical limit, as opposed to the ROM choose the upper end of the speed. Any advice? Is anyone working on this? Is it locked? Is it irrelevant? The system IS pretty damned snaptastic.
Thanks ...
I think if you specify your own frequency list to SetCPU you can overclock the device.
in order to overclock an android device, you first need to obtain source code (not sure if its available yet) so a developer can tinker with the kernel.
setcpu allows you to set min/max standards, but unless the kernel supports it, you cannot clock over what setcpu reads (stock 1ghz)

Why would you even bother with overclocking this phone? It's already got a Thousand megahertz.. Literally
I'm the developer of the overclocking app, QuickClock, and I was wondering if any DroidPro owners had tried it out? I've attempted to add support for the DroidPro but I've yet to find out if it actually works or not. Should work fine, since it's the same CPU and QuickClock's speed detection works universally, but I'd love to have some confirmation.
Thanks much

I'm guessing something is blocking the app from changing the value? It gets way down into negative numbers and will keep going all night. I made sure the app has root permissions. Any ideas?
