Disaster!!!
I sent them a mail regarding the "jointstereo" default value for the A2DP profile (you can find the details in another thread). I specified all details of the problem.
reply 1: can you please tell which headset you are using (I had already told them)
reply 2: There is no reason why your mobilephone doesn't work with the A2DP headset. It is possible that the headset is faulty. Can you please try with other headsets (I had already written that I had tried more than one and it was a problem with stereo output not with the headset not working)
reply 3: they reply in Italian (because of my name - I had always used English so far) that the SE HBH-DS970 is not compatible and the SE website does not report the HTC P3600 as compatible. I write back in ENGLISH that it is not a matter of compatibility but a matter of a registry setting and I point them to this forum so that they can see there is a solution.
reply 4: "I am sorry but we can only offer email support in English." The only person using Italian in previous messages was someone from HTC support! I write back "I have always written in English. You should really put your act together"
reply 5: the registry modification described in the forum is against warranty terms and will void your warranty. (!!!) I wrote back asking what the supported way is to have stereo output without voiding the warranty.... waiting for reply 6....
This is ridiculous!
Update: maybe this is reply 6....
The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.4.7 - Delivery expired (message too old) 'timeout'
Talk about BAD support! Feel with you man! But I must admit this is the first time I hear about HTC' support beeing this bad... I know they can be slow, and somewhat "unclear" on the replies(i.e. the GPS questions), but this was just plain old bad support....
Hope HTC reads this and apologizes...

Well I could also mention that when you send a message you receive the same reply twice from two different addresses (one is the generic customer support address and one is a person - who keeps changing at every reply) and if you reply back to both addresses then your problem becomes two problems and you start getting different answers from different people. Or the fact that every time they forward the problem internally the ProblemID field gets changed so everything becomes a total mess.
I deleted the first few messages but these are the subjects for the last 6 I have received:
Problem ID 061206em09545176
Problem ID 061203EM16144174
Your call ref : 061203EM16144174
Problem ID 061207EM16535631
Problem ID 061207EM16535686
Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
I just hope this device works the way it should otherwise it's going to be big trouble!
No surprise, that happens when HTC outsources support, and does not provide proper training to the callcenters... HTC fans could explain this with their rapid growth, and lots of fires to put out on the way, but since they are also reporting double digit profit increases every year, they should spend on proper support, in house. HTC´s center for Europe is in Britain, and even a customer from there is not serviced right. What can other countries expect, that do not even have a service center?
Until recently it was easy for HTC - "just call your operator", but now it´s their turn...

>So what is the approved solution to fix this problem?
There's no approved official solution!
If Microsoft creates a protocol with your SonyEricsson stereo BT headset settings then the A2DP fuctunality will stop working on other BT stereo headsets with the standard configuration.
It's sounds a dilema but at least you know that following the instructions on the XDA forum the problem is sorted and probably is what you need to do to overcome this problem.
Another idea is to contact SonyEricsson and check for updates.
I think it's already fixed now.

Does anyone have an update from O2 on the availability of the ROM upgrade for BT profiles? It's been nearly 3 months that they've been saying "any day now ...."!
Hey, i know how you feel. Ive only had my XDA2 since the end of February and its driving me nuts waiting for a ROM update to fix the Bluetooth problems...
by the way, how do you know the ROM update WILL actually fix the Bluetooth in the XDA2 ? have you read it somewhere ? :?
Yes, you do have a point there :?
O2 backup and support for XDA is useless
O2 is haphazard at the least in its updates and general support for the XDA well at least in the Uk they are so dont hold your breath.
The new website for example is a nightmare for getting information out of and as for support on the phone they pass you to xda warranty repairs.
have you tried pocket bluetooth tools? (http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/) i THINK it claims to fix the BT stack problems. . . but i'm not so sure . . . maybe you dont have to wait for an upgrade =)
hope this helps.
Cheers,
Carlo
bluetooth tools works ok, its the only way i can get my gps to work
Pocket Bluetooth tools works fine, but it doesnt let me use the Bluetooth to send files or phonebook contacts as theres no profiles for it to happen in the current version.
I emailed the author about a month ago and didnt get a reply. I emailed him again last week and got an automated email saying he was on vacation until the end of March.
Im starting to wonder if he's having problems with his next version which he said he'd like to support file and contact transfers.
I doubt he is having problems, bearing in mind its a free program and takes many many hours of programming and effort I would assume he is a busy man. Even the makers of Navman suggest using his path which leads me to believe that he could charge a lot of money for his programming skills. It would be much better if O2 addressed the problem instead taking into account the fact that they released a crippled and brain damaged product to market.
Amen
I spent 3 hours installing 1.60 last night and reconfiguring the machine. Does it improve anything for headset and handsfree profiles? No. bog all. Handshaking with a CK3000 is now even worse.
Waste of b****y time.
Hi first thing I will say is this is not for XDA but for SPV E200. I am aware this is an XDA forum but after seeing some of the things you guys have been able to do with the XDA ROM/OS I thought I would ask if anyone in here could help with this problem due to the similarity of the devices and the fact that they are made by the same company, HTC.
I have posted this originally in a Modaco forum for Smarphones but noone is technically capable enough to help.
If you could read the link below and reply if you think you are up to the challenge of hacking the SPV to get rid of this extremely annoying "complete lack of bluetooth range in headset mode" problem.

Advice
Hi,
It is really hard to come up with something because I have no idea about your device
Try to contact your brand reseller and ask him for system updates, or check forums that are dedicated to your device for such updates. System updates can usually resolve such issues in 70% of cases
Try to minimize 3rd party software usage and check your devices again
Try Pocket Bluetooth Tools (both versions; check for url at xda-dev frontpage)
Try to change your coat/case/cover because it might have BT radio frequency reducing effect
The hardware is HTC, just like the XDA.
The reseller is Orange and they are bringing out the C500 to replace it as they have given up on the E200.
Orange have no intention on bringing out any more fixes for the unit.
All I need is for the power to be increased in the bluetooth transmitter when it is in headset mode.
Finding right upgrade
What I propose to you is to check different upgrades:
http://www.msmobiles.com/news.php/2210.html
http://web.orange.co.uk/yourphone/spv2/promo.html?id=SPVE200_ROMCodeUpgrade
http://www.mtekk.com.au/browse/page657.html
... all of them claim about BT functionality improvements
They all have better functionality as in they work with more headsets, but none of them increases the range.
I am on the latest Orange E200 UK release currently. I have scoured the web for a fix and found nothing, hence my last ditch attempt to see if someone can hacl the phone.
What about the rest E200 users

And what about other e200 users? Do they have the same problem?
You don't need any hack. If you use your BT headset in BT discoverable mode, then BT radio works at a maximum transmission rate, if in usual BT on mode, then BT transmission is adjusted to the environment (bonded devices)
i've been looking for the answer ( i think it should have been something that more people are suffering from but i was wrong )
i have a new headset. the sony hbh-ds970 nifty little thing. however when i'm receiving a call i only see the phone number on the screen. is there a way to display the name that the call is from when it is in my phonebook?
p.s. i'm using that upgrade to enable a2dp
Yes I know, it's really hard to find something here. Indeed there are more people than only you, who would like this feature to be supported! But bad news! Please read my little review of the headset in combination with the Magician in the A2DP thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=337217#337217! So far only the point that MortPlayer does not support AVRCP is outdated.
The short conclusion, that matches also this thread is: "To sum up, the HBH-DS970 is a high quality product and the "Walkman" logo on it is justified. Only the Magician is not an equal counterpart to it."
well i'm willing to start on such an application. but i was looking yesterday, and since havn't found any sdk for the ppc2003se bluetooth stack. No api, actually finding info on a2dp or avrcd was pretty hard to come by.
Can anyone point me in the right direction (sdk for the ppc2003se bluetoothstack?)
i have some good ideas on how to implement the stuff.
That would be really nice! But I don't know if there is an SDK for the stack, maybe ask in a seperate thread!?
hmm why does the caller id sometimes work and sometimes not? i just got a call from a friend, and his name was in the screen, after the call i tried to phone and i got the right name in screen... pretty weird :S
Guys,
try this app (JETware Hands-free Extension for Windows Mobile phones) @ http://www.jetwaremobile.com/index.htm
It works!
The best option until M$ decides to implement it by their own in BT stack...

Luckily, It work with my magician, Name of incoming call display correctly in Sony DS970 bluetooth
So far, love the phone but I have two issues that I'm wondering if someone can help.
1) On some system screens, for example, when pairing a bluetooth and select "add new device", the right edge of the screen is cut off when in portrait mode. It seems like the length of the screen has fooled the x1 into thinking that the right edge should be wider and so the resolution isn't supported. Any tips on this issue?
2) When pairing a bluetooth device, sometimes either I get a "bluetooth hardware problem" message or the pairing code seems to be incorrect, although of course its always 0000 for all my bt devices. Should I take the phone back or is this happen for all devices currently?
i have the HK xperia which is I think the UK Generic ROM and no updates are at SE's site.
Thanks for any help
Best
Ken

I am affraid your answer will not suffice him:
I guess he thinks this is a hotline and he wants answers
Maybe he doesn't want to search or read even when his specific questions have been answered and discussed before (and more than once)
Hi!
I got a T-Mobile Ameo (x7500) and upgraded it to Win Mobile 6 with success.
I am having trouble with call recording when not being in speakerphone mode. I studied the postings about this topic, but actually it said "Athena can do this without modification".
I used Resco Audio Recorder and Vito Technology's Audio Notes and some other tools. These two programs, well were able to record but the other side was much too silent to comprehend.
I tried it with my Jabra Bluetooth headset and my HTC cable headset. There seems to be no difference to me.
Has any of you guys'n'girls the ICR on his phone, with better experience? Please tell me ;-)
CU, forcemaker
Really nobody of Athena/Advantage/Ameo folks using in call recording?
Hi there,
is eally nobody of Athena/Advantage/Ameo folks using in call recording?
Are there no success or even failure reports that you want to share?
Greetings from forcemaker
All these years have passed ... ;-) ... and no solution is found yet?
The user Menneisyys explains here (and linked pages) that the Athena was the only phone of its "generation" being able to do 2-way-call-recording (or ICR=In-call-recording). Then many phones were enabled with this feature by applying a simple registry hack.
But my Ameo (X7500, upgraded from Stock Wm5 to Stock WM6 ROM, german, by T-Mobile) was never able to do so. Today, for the first time, I chose to install other ROMs (Advantage_HTC_GER_2.21.407.1_1.50.00.00_Ship.exe, Advantage_HTC_WWE_2.21.405.2_1.50.00.00_Ship.exe) and different radio versions (1.5..... and 1.58....) without any change in the behaviour.
So, do you Athena owners have experience with 2-sided/way-call-recording?
Please share with me and us, as I am fed up with HTC devices "blocking" this function ... e.g. with my somewhat beloved HTC Desire (A8181, "Bravo"), where this story repeats itself.
Which ROM versions are you using, if ICR works for you?
edit 1: Oh, I forgot: I tried Resco Audio Recorder and also the solution from VITO and many others.
I am sorry for bothering you, but at this moment there are "1,082" views of this thread (some likely to be from me) ... but I cannot imagine that nobody is using any call recording function on his/her Ameo/Advantage/Athena of which you could give us (or me) a small report (Works/Doesn't work on ROM version XYZ with Recording software ABC) ?
Again sorry for bothering :-(
I think the activity has died down on this device, especially with the hacking community (which this site is mainly about) anyway.
I don't even know that this feature exists until I read this thread now. I have never used it much as a phone (battery life too short) myself, and probably most people use it as a data device mostly and thus the feature is largely missed by many.
I will check out your link to see what the deal is about in call recording as many phones won't do it, but a few will (not just smartphones), I think it has to do with legal ramification similar to there is no reason to block turning off the shutter sound on a phone camera, but they do it to discourage the perverts.
