Does anyone have an update from O2 on the availability of the ROM upgrade for BT profiles? It's been nearly 3 months that they've been saying "any day now ...."!
Hey, i know how you feel. Ive only had my XDA2 since the end of February and its driving me nuts waiting for a ROM update to fix the Bluetooth problems...
by the way, how do you know the ROM update WILL actually fix the Bluetooth in the XDA2 ? have you read it somewhere ? :?
Yes, you do have a point there :?
O2 backup and support for XDA is useless
O2 is haphazard at the least in its updates and general support for the XDA well at least in the Uk they are so dont hold your breath.
The new website for example is a nightmare for getting information out of and as for support on the phone they pass you to xda warranty repairs.
have you tried pocket bluetooth tools? (http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/) i THINK it claims to fix the BT stack problems. . . but i'm not so sure . . . maybe you dont have to wait for an upgrade =)
hope this helps.
Cheers,
Carlo
bluetooth tools works ok, its the only way i can get my gps to work
Pocket Bluetooth tools works fine, but it doesnt let me use the Bluetooth to send files or phonebook contacts as theres no profiles for it to happen in the current version.
I emailed the author about a month ago and didnt get a reply. I emailed him again last week and got an automated email saying he was on vacation until the end of March.
Im starting to wonder if he's having problems with his next version which he said he'd like to support file and contact transfers.
I doubt he is having problems, bearing in mind its a free program and takes many many hours of programming and effort I would assume he is a busy man. Even the makers of Navman suggest using his path which leads me to believe that he could charge a lot of money for his programming skills. It would be much better if O2 addressed the problem instead taking into account the fact that they released a crippled and brain damaged product to market.
Amen
I spent 3 hours installing 1.60 last night and reconfiguring the machine. Does it improve anything for headset and handsfree profiles? No. bog all. Handshaking with a CK3000 is now even worse.
Waste of b****y time.

I was wanting to clear a few questions up before I get an xda.
I have the chance of either a xda II or a xda IIs on upgrade from O2 through a friend who is due upgrade but doesn't want to change the phone they have.
I see the xda II can be unlocked but can the newer s or i be unlocked too?
And will they work with a nokia ck7w BT car kit or are they a bit tempermental with BT car kits?
thanks in advance
You can just give O2 £15 and apparently they'll get you an unlock code. Although apparently it'll take anywhere upto 21 working days :-(
I "asked" for my code on the morning of 28th January and that was 7 working days ago (11 real days ago) so looks like they weren't exageratting.
Although they first told me it'd come completely unlocked (before I gave them the £250 for the actual phone) then they said it'd take 5 working days (so I gave them another £15) and of course still waiting... so who knows :-( I'm sure it will arrive at somepoint, but patience may be required!

Thanks for that, Just need to see if it is going to work fine with my nokia bluetooth car kit now!
Hey there, I have that Nokia BT car kit and it unfortunately doesn't work. The XDA doesn't support the car kit profile like a nokia. They'll be able to see each other, and connect. Just can't seem to get it to work myself. I've been looking for ways, someone told me that an ap called BT tools would sort it, but no joy!
I've also tried a variety of other phones with the car kit. The only one's that function properly with it are Nokia's.

Right, So I was stupid i admit it - I brought a SD-502 for my O2 Exec without really checking its compatability.
As we all know - The SD-502 does NOT work with the HTC Universal/JasJar/the other 5000 names it can be called. BUT heres the question:
Do I-
A) Return it and get the TomTom BT SIRF III instead
B) Keep it - because its great and works with brilliance in my XDA IIi (although I have just sold it) and hope that GlobalSat resolve the problem soon.
I really like the SD-502 (mostly because i havent got to charge it) but if they never bring out a driver because they find out it can never be fixed then im kinda screwed. I have phoned GlobalSat and they are well aware of the problem but say they cant be sure of when a driver will be released. The SD-502 has been out for a month and has had 2 new driver releases since - so, so far so good.
Let me know your comments.
Return it - I can personally recommend the holux gpslim236 (sirf iii job as well).
Joe
I use the GPSlim 236 and i haveta say its one nifty lil bugger. Extremely happy with it. If i am not mistaken, its the smallest BT GPS available today and looks great too.
How much was the SD-502 for?
£125 total (inc everything)
£125 including software? I was going to say that was a bargain, but then I remembered that it doesn't work for you.
Yeah yeah rub it in
Its not including the software - I have TomTom 5 seperate!
They have to release a driver to make the HTC universal work with it surely..............right?
You can buy Holux GPSlim 236 for £76 (with P+P) so...
Regards
Chris
GlobalSat BT-338 (SiRF III) works great with my Qtek 9000.
Was going to send the following, then by luck scrolled down 1 more line on the attached page. DRAT
I would reckon that as it says the drivers are compatible with WM5, that you would be within your rights to require the manufacturers to either make the drivers work on WM5, or to request them to take down their claim that the drivers are WM5 compatible. Otherwise then your only recourse is to return the card.
<<Found it.
Try this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33786&highlight=sd+502+work+globalsat
Contact the first poster and see what they are doing. I started looking at the SD-502 because of the post saying that the receiver works with the holder.
Looks like they released the driver 1 week ago

hehe - that was the post that made me buy the 502. Unfortunately the way he wrote the post seemed like it was tried and tested with his JasJar. I contacted him a few days ago to see what settings Alanplum used but he couldnt asnwer. Now I know why.
Obviously this is an easy mistake - as WM5 drivers should make it work. Yet what i have learnt from other threads/forums etc is that the drivers do work with other WM5 devices but its how the SDIO slot on the HTC Universal is accessed that makes it uncompatible with any drivers at the moment.
I really have hope that they might release something soon.............come on GlobalSat.....you need the extra sales for Christmas.
Are there any SDIO GPS systems that would work with the universal? I was thinking about a unit for myself for christmas, but by the looks of it I will be getting a BT one instead.
I would keep it. I have contacted Globalsat engineers and they are working to get a resolution.

good luck alan I use to have the old sido gps for my BA and it worked a treat using the gpslim236 have had no issues so far!
if they are working on a fix, ask what stage it is in > design, build, test etc and see if there is a delivery date.
if not, you may be left hanging for an unknown length of time, whereas the others work now.
also, are you sure about this SDIO lark?
Alanplum - have you got any further information on this?? I think im going to send my SD-502 back tomorrow.....think I have to exchange it though so I cant get a GPSlim as they dont sell me!
Will have to be the new TOMTOM SIRFIII one......thats just a good I hope.
I'm sure it will be if it's sirf III technology inside.
Hope you enjoy it, and prepare for a short battle when you are setting up ;-)

Agreed. Looks like a standard 1st line support response to me. All they've said is they've passed it on to their engineering staff. Doesn't say if they have actually identified the issue, are working on a fix, or if they've even read the email If it's the SDIO implemention at fault, then you may never see a working driver (e.g. ref: Treo 600 broken SDIO, still not working on 650).
Globalsat has replied to my email - thought I would share:
Hi,
Thanks for the enquiry.
We do not have an exact date of when the SD502 will be compatible with the JasJar. We are looking to have it working by the end of March.
Globalsat UK
I reckon change it for a compatible one, unless you are prepared to gamble and wait around for it to work.
Yeah im gonna exchage it for a GlobalSat BT338
Does anyone know whether its possible for Stereo sound with the version of Bluetooth on the JasJar?
It has Bluetooth version 1.2, someone told me that Stereo was only supported in Bluetooth version 2.0.
However, after some investigation I now think that this is actually not version specific, but rather whether the OS supports A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). WM5 does support A2DP.
So, I think that it will actually work on the Jasjar, my question is, has anyone tried it and can confirm that it does work? WHat headsets are you using?
Sorry guys, currently bluetooth v1.1, not v1.2 as I stated earlier..
New ROM should be out soon for Universal that will allow this - it's currently in testing right now, but should be out before March.
So to answer your question: No, not yet, but soon.
That soon is six months now.......
We are waiting for Win CE update since forever. It has not chnaged since the phone started shipping (see the build numbers)
Only German roms seem to have been updated - but whats the use - we dont understand German.
Smile for buying a beta phone.
Naw.. last year they said it was coming in 2006. This year theyve been saying its coming in March since January. So as long as it really does come out in March theyll have kept to their word.
Any news? :/ i want some damn stereo
I thought that upgrading the radio stack to 1.0.6 (or I believe 1.0.8 is now available at Buzz's site) allowed you to use stereo Bluetooth? I'm sure I saw it in a thread here somewhere....
Edit: Sorry, must've been dreaming. Can't find anything that comes close to backing this up!
XXXXXXX,
Thank you for your email.
The new AKU-2 service pack released by Microsoft is currently being tested by o2, we currently have enough testers testing this service but thanks for your interest.
Unfortunately we have no timescales when this will be available to our customers, I would recommend periodically checking our XDA Exec website at http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html for more information.
If you have any further problems, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Many thanks

Latest info I could get from O2 on the AUK 2 update.
can anyone confirm what sub69 says?
Buzz has the AKU2 stereo patch but has been asked not to distribute it.
V
oh damn, if anyone got it please give me a pm
I've been waiting for AKU2 ever since it was announced back around Christmas. It finally got released from Imate today and after flashing my KJAM there is still no Stereo Headset profile??? What gives? Anybody know why it's not there, I thought this was supposed to be one of the big features of AKU2 besides push mail?
I read on another forum (I only quickly looked, honest, this is the only forum for me) that the A2DP profile caused the device to slow down too much and they were removing it for that reason. When I read it it was just a rumor but it looks like they were correct.
I dare say after some more tweaking that it will return as the slowdown only occurs when the profile is active.
If you really need it use the Qtek 2.8.x.x rom on the FTP server as it is very stable if not fully optimised.
Well, that sounds like a reasonable explanation. Given that the Wizard is barely 200mhz and A2DP is a CPU hog. But DANG IT, they should have released it and just had a pop up warning or something,"Performance may be impacted during music playback via the Bluetooth headset." Or something at least. I don't mind if the PPC is sluggish while I'm listening to Podcasts! ARGH!
I heard the Qtek ROM was kinda buggy. I'm not sure I want to flash to something that's gonna make my phone unstable all the time. Have you used that ROM?
I am using the Qtek aku2. Its far from buggy.
As far as i can say they could have made it general available.
Using the Qtek ROM as well [just got a pair of stereo BT headsets yesterday] and I don't see any performance issues as well. Maybe it also depends on what you have installed on your device. I probably won't be updating the imate ROM if it doesn't have a2dp. I don't need the push email but I am enjoting the BT music streaming heehee
Try out the Qtek ROM it might be ok for your device.

No offense but you seem to be saying imate should have released it with A2DP bugs, but you don't want to use the qtek beta because it might have bugs. Err make your mind up dude.
I don't think sluggish performance using A2DP is necessarily a bug. Given that the processor is only 200mhz and streaming 128kbps stereo audio over Bluetooth is processor intensive, it's probably just the nature of the beast. It may turn out that Qtek will remove A2DP from their final ROM as well after they get feedback about the beta firmware.
Do you guys know if the Qtek beta ROM fixed the Storage Card disconnecting issue? Because the KJAM AKU2 update has finally resolved this issue for me. I can leave programs open on the storage card and turn the device off and on and the programs don't crash out anymore.
Can you please post a WORKING link to the QTEK9100 AKU2 Test ROM with the working A2DP? The ones I've found are not working. Otherwise, can someone arrange to email it to me?
Has anyone here tried the QTEK9100 AKU2 ROM on an unlocked US Tmobile MDA?
i was also pretty annoyed that A2DP had been left out of this update as i had bought myself a set of stereo bluetooth headphones for xmas in anticipation of the update and now they will continue to sit on a shelf gathering dust.
I thought why not email i-mate - [email protected] - and ask them. To tell you the truth i was not expecting an answer (or at least not for several days) as with my previous experiences.
Well i was pleasantly surprised (amazed even) that i-mate replied to my email within 3 hours. They said:
Thank you for your E-mail. Regarding your query, please note that our engineers are working to integrate the A2DP profile on Windows Mobile 5 devices via ROM upgrades but we do not have yet any information or release date for this update hence, we would suggest that you keep a regular check on the www.clubimate.com for further information about new upgrades, releases and services.

I thought this is cool but wanted confirmation that A2DP would be released as an update for the K-JAM and current devices and not just future / new devices so i asked them to confirm this for me, This time i recieved a reply within minutes:
Thank you for your E-mail. Regarding your query, we confirm that A2DP update will be soon released for K-JAM.

Overall i must say this was the best support experience i have ever had from i-mate. Maybe they are listening to us after all. Of course no timeframes as is the i-mate way but it does look promising for us.
Cheers

wow! when I owned an i-mate JAM I waited for 2 weeks until I got a reply. I guess i-mate is learning to treat their customers better... too bad I already switched to dopod and since Manila has a very small difference in time [dopod's singapore office - I think a few hours] I usually get replies within the day... still like i-mate dopod has no timeline and answers with the generic lines...
thank you for your email

De Ja Vu... with a different company ey
Theres been a few recent posts around here and other forums speculating exactly why A2DP did not make it into the recent i-mate update.
Some of these posts have been suggesting that the A2DP 128k audio stream is too resource intesive for the Wizard's 200MHz Ti Omap850 CPU.
So, i thought i would ask one of the Microsoft Mobility guys on his MSDN Blog to see if he could confirm this. Whilst he was not actually able to tell us the reason of the hold up, he has confirmed its not likely to be the CPU: Read his Blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/archive/2006/03/02/542036.aspx
Jason Langridge - Chris - no that's not accurate - I have it running on other devices with similar CPU specifications. re: A2DP - Ultimately it's an i-mate decision what is/isn't included in their releases.

Hi,

Thanks in advance Cheers mates

No One care To reply in the community of 200,000
depends on what you will be using it for really, if you want a stable bluetooth connection for a car kit and you dont want to be rebooting the phone daily then in my experience i would not buy one. If i new about these problems before i got mine then i definately would not of brought it.
it does have a whole host of features though so i suppose you cannot have everything.
If they sort these problems out which i keep hearing they will then the phone will be worth having.
I will now go and see what the Kaiser has to offer as might be time to switch already from this rubbish. (Annoyed as you can tell and only my opinion, due to the fact that car kit works fine on my wizard and no rebooting of phone. This one does not work correctly with car kit, people cannot hear me speak, and phone has to be rebooted 2-3 times a day, and yes the phone has been replaced and it is the same problems.)
zomig
there is nothing wrong with my car kit as my wizard (o2 xda mini s ) works 100% with it, this is an issue with the Bluetooth stack on this device and has been mentioned more times than i care to remember.
It quite simply does not work. It is also supposed to be fixed when they eventually release a new rom. But i wont hold my breath.
If you really need the keyboard, then, the Hermes might prove OK (albeit, if I were you, I'd REALLY wait!). If you don't need it, wait or get he Trinity - the latter is much better IMHO than the Hermes (built-in GPS and, hopefully, FM radio).
Strange My new Hermes works better with my Bluetooth Headset than my wizard did. Sound is clearer and louder. and on my wizard when I would answer a call the caller would get a earsplitting screech as I pres the answer button. This is not a prob with the TYTN
Jules
Thanks u all guys .....really appreciate it
I don't care abt Bt Problem will have a look on trinity does t-mobile rlease trinity ?
