I was wanting to clear a few questions up before I get an xda.
I have the chance of either a xda II or a xda IIs on upgrade from O2 through a friend who is due upgrade but doesn't want to change the phone they have.
I see the xda II can be unlocked but can the newer s or i be unlocked too?
And will they work with a nokia ck7w BT car kit or are they a bit tempermental with BT car kits?
thanks in advance
You can just give O2 £15 and apparently they'll get you an unlock code. Although apparently it'll take anywhere upto 21 working days :-(
I "asked" for my code on the morning of 28th January and that was 7 working days ago (11 real days ago) so looks like they weren't exageratting.
Although they first told me it'd come completely unlocked (before I gave them the £250 for the actual phone) then they said it'd take 5 working days (so I gave them another £15) and of course still waiting... so who knows :-( I'm sure it will arrive at somepoint, but patience may be required!

Thanks for that, Just need to see if it is going to work fine with my nokia bluetooth car kit now!
Hey there, I have that Nokia BT car kit and it unfortunately doesn't work. The XDA doesn't support the car kit profile like a nokia. They'll be able to see each other, and connect. Just can't seem to get it to work myself. I've been looking for ways, someone told me that an ap called BT tools would sort it, but no joy!
I've also tried a variety of other phones with the car kit. The only one's that function properly with it are Nokia's.

Does anyone have an update from O2 on the availability of the ROM upgrade for BT profiles? It's been nearly 3 months that they've been saying "any day now ...."!
Hey, i know how you feel. Ive only had my XDA2 since the end of February and its driving me nuts waiting for a ROM update to fix the Bluetooth problems...
by the way, how do you know the ROM update WILL actually fix the Bluetooth in the XDA2 ? have you read it somewhere ? :?
Yes, you do have a point there :?
O2 backup and support for XDA is useless
O2 is haphazard at the least in its updates and general support for the XDA well at least in the Uk they are so dont hold your breath.
The new website for example is a nightmare for getting information out of and as for support on the phone they pass you to xda warranty repairs.
have you tried pocket bluetooth tools? (http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/) i THINK it claims to fix the BT stack problems. . . but i'm not so sure . . . maybe you dont have to wait for an upgrade =)
hope this helps.
Cheers,
Carlo
bluetooth tools works ok, its the only way i can get my gps to work
Pocket Bluetooth tools works fine, but it doesnt let me use the Bluetooth to send files or phonebook contacts as theres no profiles for it to happen in the current version.
I emailed the author about a month ago and didnt get a reply. I emailed him again last week and got an automated email saying he was on vacation until the end of March.
Im starting to wonder if he's having problems with his next version which he said he'd like to support file and contact transfers.
I doubt he is having problems, bearing in mind its a free program and takes many many hours of programming and effort I would assume he is a busy man. Even the makers of Navman suggest using his path which leads me to believe that he could charge a lot of money for his programming skills. It would be much better if O2 addressed the problem instead taking into account the fact that they released a crippled and brain damaged product to market.
Amen
I spent 3 hours installing 1.60 last night and reconfiguring the machine. Does it improve anything for headset and handsfree profiles? No. bog all. Handshaking with a CK3000 is now even worse.
Waste of b****y time.
Right, So I was stupid i admit it - I brought a SD-502 for my O2 Exec without really checking its compatability.
As we all know - The SD-502 does NOT work with the HTC Universal/JasJar/the other 5000 names it can be called. BUT heres the question:
Do I-
A) Return it and get the TomTom BT SIRF III instead
B) Keep it - because its great and works with brilliance in my XDA IIi (although I have just sold it) and hope that GlobalSat resolve the problem soon.
I really like the SD-502 (mostly because i havent got to charge it) but if they never bring out a driver because they find out it can never be fixed then im kinda screwed. I have phoned GlobalSat and they are well aware of the problem but say they cant be sure of when a driver will be released. The SD-502 has been out for a month and has had 2 new driver releases since - so, so far so good.
Let me know your comments.
Return it - I can personally recommend the holux gpslim236 (sirf iii job as well).
Joe
I use the GPSlim 236 and i haveta say its one nifty lil bugger. Extremely happy with it. If i am not mistaken, its the smallest BT GPS available today and looks great too.
How much was the SD-502 for?
£125 total (inc everything)
£125 including software? I was going to say that was a bargain, but then I remembered that it doesn't work for you.
Yeah yeah rub it in
Its not including the software - I have TomTom 5 seperate!
They have to release a driver to make the HTC universal work with it surely..............right?
You can buy Holux GPSlim 236 for £76 (with P+P) so...

Chris
GlobalSat BT-338 (SiRF III) works great with my Qtek 9000.
Was going to send the following, then by luck scrolled down 1 more line on the attached page. DRAT
I would reckon that as it says the drivers are compatible with WM5, that you would be within your rights to require the manufacturers to either make the drivers work on WM5, or to request them to take down their claim that the drivers are WM5 compatible. Otherwise then your only recourse is to return the card.
<<Found it.

Contact the first poster and see what they are doing. I started looking at the SD-502 because of the post saying that the receiver works with the holder.
Looks like they released the driver 1 week ago

hehe - that was the post that made me buy the 502. Unfortunately the way he wrote the post seemed like it was tried and tested with his JasJar. I contacted him a few days ago to see what settings Alanplum used but he couldnt asnwer. Now I know why.
Obviously this is an easy mistake - as WM5 drivers should make it work. Yet what i have learnt from other threads/forums etc is that the drivers do work with other WM5 devices but its how the SDIO slot on the HTC Universal is accessed that makes it uncompatible with any drivers at the moment.
I really have hope that they might release something soon.............come on GlobalSat.....you need the extra sales for Christmas.
Are there any SDIO GPS systems that would work with the universal? I was thinking about a unit for myself for christmas, but by the looks of it I will be getting a BT one instead.
I would keep it. I have contacted Globalsat engineers and they are working to get a resolution.

good luck alan I use to have the old sido gps for my BA and it worked a treat using the gpslim236 have had no issues so far!
if they are working on a fix, ask what stage it is in > design, build, test etc and see if there is a delivery date.
if not, you may be left hanging for an unknown length of time, whereas the others work now.
also, are you sure about this SDIO lark?
Alanplum - have you got any further information on this?? I think im going to send my SD-502 back tomorrow.....think I have to exchange it though so I cant get a GPSlim as they dont sell me!
Will have to be the new TOMTOM SIRFIII one......thats just a good I hope.
I'm sure it will be if it's sirf III technology inside.
Hope you enjoy it, and prepare for a short battle when you are setting up ;-)

Agreed. Looks like a standard 1st line support response to me. All they've said is they've passed it on to their engineering staff. Doesn't say if they have actually identified the issue, are working on a fix, or if they've even read the email If it's the SDIO implemention at fault, then you may never see a working driver (e.g. ref: Treo 600 broken SDIO, still not working on 650).
Globalsat has replied to my email - thought I would share:
Hi,
Thanks for the enquiry.
We do not have an exact date of when the SD502 will be compatible with the JasJar. We are looking to have it working by the end of March.
Globalsat UK
I reckon change it for a compatible one, unless you are prepared to gamble and wait around for it to work.
Yeah im gonna exchage it for a GlobalSat BT338
Hi,
What u guys recommend is it too late now ?...When it's Successor Kaiser will be out ?...Keem reply coming..
Thanks in advance Cheers mates

depends on what you will be using it for really, if you want a stable bluetooth connection for a car kit and you dont want to be rebooting the phone daily then in my experience i would not buy one. If i new about these problems before i got mine then i definately would not of brought it.
it does have a whole host of features though so i suppose you cannot have everything.
If they sort these problems out which i keep hearing they will then the phone will be worth having.
I will now go and see what the Kaiser has to offer as might be time to switch already from this rubbish. (Annoyed as you can tell and only my opinion, due to the fact that car kit works fine on my wizard and no rebooting of phone. This one does not work correctly with car kit, people cannot hear me speak, and phone has to be rebooted 2-3 times a day, and yes the phone has been replaced and it is the same problems.)
zomig
there is nothing wrong with my car kit as my wizard (o2 xda mini s ) works 100% with it, this is an issue with the Bluetooth stack on this device and has been mentioned more times than i care to remember.
It quite simply does not work. It is also supposed to be fixed when they eventually release a new rom. But i wont hold my breath.
If you really need the keyboard, then, the Hermes might prove OK (albeit, if I were you, I'd REALLY wait!). If you don't need it, wait or get he Trinity - the latter is much better IMHO than the Hermes (built-in GPS and, hopefully, FM radio).
Strange My new Hermes works better with my Bluetooth Headset than my wizard did. Sound is clearer and louder. and on my wizard when I would answer a call the caller would get a earsplitting screech as I pres the answer button. This is not a prob with the TYTN
Jules
Thanks u all guys .....really appreciate it
I don't care abt Bt Problem will have a look on trinity does t-mobile rlease trinity ?
Hello everybody!
I been always having difficulties pairing HTC devices with my AUDI A6 (2005) hand-free using bluetooth (HTC Diamond, HD, and now HD2). The phones will pair but neither contacts or recent calls would appear in my car's display (MMI)
I used to solve the problem using a software extension for the bluetooth stack called JETWARE MOBILE, but HD2 uses WIDCOMM's bluetooth stack instead of Microsoft's one, and JETWARE software won't support it.
I've found a thread about pairing with a volvo hands-free where have been found a solution (changing WIDCOMM registry key "SupportedFeatures" and others)
Anyway it appears to be a volvo's specific solution so it doesn't work for my AUDI (I still can't get any contacts, recent calls, etc. transfered to my car using those)
Does anybody have an idea?
Thanks in advance
Sounds like Audi does not support the handsfree profile HD2 uses. What about using sap (sim access)?
The best way would be to ask your Audi Partner about a solution.
I bet they have an own SAP bluetooth device as i read that Audi uses Handsfree on default and SAP as an option for more money.
It is always a matter of the cars software and not of the HD or HD2.
I own the Mercedes CLC 2008 and i need to buy an extra utility (SAP bluetooth dongle SLR design) for more than 300 €.
Didnt do it till today but i got a new job and def. will buy it when i get the first money.
With SAP it will definately work - also confiremd by several forums i found via google.
BTW: The brother of my wife has a new Volvo V50 and he cant pair his Nokia phone with the cars system but my old HD as my new HD2 too can pair without any problem. I can shuffle through my contacts where he got the same issue as u - but with his nokia phone.
I'm not sure if you've updated the MMI software in your Audi. I had a older software version in my 05 A6 there are 2 disks that will get you to the latest version. I have flawless phone access now. It's like a ROM upgrade for the car.
You can read more about it at www.audiworld.com and check the C6 forum.

I don't really think I've got any MMI updates. I don't even know what version I've got...
I'll ask my dealer to find out.
Thanks

I doubt your dealer will fix it for you unless you are still in warranty and you are having an issue with it.
My dealer didn't want to touch it because like one of these phones if you mess up the upgrade you can brick it.
If you want to take a picture of the SW version and post it or send it to me I can tell you what you have.
Are you in the US?
I forgot to mention if you fry the MMI it is about $2,000 to fix. I was able to get the lastest software installed in about 2 hours.

I'm from Spain, little far away from US...
When I took my car to its last service (55.000 miles) they told me they were supposed to apply a software update (I was in a hurry so I told them to came back later... 8 months ago...).
May be that update will also apply to the MMI?
Anyway I'll take the picture and show you the SW version.
Thanks

It's hard to say what they wanted to update, it could have been the ECU or MMI. I found that since I had an early model 05 my software was really out of date. Once I updated it the phonebook and connection worked so much better.
Audi usually supply the latest firmware as part of the navigation disk updates (they auto update when you first put them in).. this is the case for the older RNS-E's and probably the case for MMI too..

May be... but I don't have navigation in my MMI. I actually have the MMI Plus but the navigation module was too much for the value (Tomtom gives me the same except MMI integration for less than 1/10 of the price)
Thanks anyway

apologies to OP, this is slightly off topic...
Hi Dameon12,
I think this works only with the V3 SAP Mercedes module, and this works only with the newer MB audio units.
I have a 2006 Mercedes with Comand and the V2 SAP module, but no success as yet pairing with the HD2 - but I'm open to suggestions!
Thanks,
Eddie

Could you please tell me if those pictures were what you ask me to take?
If I get out the software version to search for I might give it a try...

Hi,
I go into bluetooth and search for my devices on my Omnia 7 but it seems to be stuck on Searching when I try and search for my MW600. Anyone experienced anything similar?
So far I have tried it with a couple of different headphones from SE and Plantronics but still no joy...
Jag har precis samma problem som dig med samma headset plus att min hörlursingång verkar glappa
Exactly the same problem, bluetooth worked for about a month but the quality was terrible. As time went by it got harder to pair with the car and now it just sits there searching...
I have the same issue, struggling with a lot of Bluetooth problems at the moment. I also have a MW600!
I can get it to pair with the MW600 if I turn WiFi off. After pairing it seems to work fine with WiFi back on.
With various power cycles, entering and leaving flight mode etc. I can get it to see some devices. Can't get it to pair with my car kit though no matter what I do, and that's the only thing I really want to pair it with.
It seems to be a common issue with Samsung Omnia 7s and Focuses. There is a blog post that google finds where a guy took his phone back and swapped it for another one, which then worked with all the devices his original didn't. One of the commentors then declared that upgrading the firmware to JK1 also sorted the issue. I promptly did this, voiding any chance I had of taking the device back to get a new one. It didn't work, so I'm stuck. The commentor has since come back and said it didn't fix the issue. Thanks for that .
I have an MW600 and I use it with no problems at all. Works perfectly. I have it paired with both my Samsung Omnia 7 and my old Sony Ericsson W610i.
The first pairing took me a while (some pairing codes blah blah), but after that, it's been really smooth. Just switch on bluetooth and the MW600 and they are automatically connected.
Of course, the song name etc does not show up on MW600's display -- I think that's restricted to Sony phone (my old W610i does that perfectly!).
Hope this helps.
I believe based on other peoples experiences there is a Bluetooth hardware problem with early examples of the Omnia 7. You probably have a later one where everything is fixed.
Oh and the reason the MW600's display doesn't show any info is because WP7 only supports version 1.0 of the AVRCP profile, so track info is not transmitted. I've used the MW600 with my old HTC Diamond and Touch Pro2 and got the track info to display. I'm hoping the profile will be updated by Microsoft at some point.

Well, I jsut got a new 16 GB version last week and I have bluetooth problems as well. even after Nodo they still exist. I have a Parrot Minislim kit and my phone will find it and try to connect. I enter the PIN and hit "done" . It then tries to connect but doesnt. AM bringing it to a service centre tomorrow and will see what they do there.

Well, I brought it to the Carphone Warehouse who are the service agents for Samsung and guess what , they cannot send it back for repair because they have no "PLU" in their system for this model citing that they do not offer it in their catalogue. They have told me this 2 weeks after I left in in with them. Now, I have got to get it back from them and send to Samsung myself. Like others here I must have an early model because it is doing the same things, sometimes connecting to my Parrot MiniSlim kit and sometimes not. I bought a 16GB version from Germany because I wanted an unbranded and unlocked version with this amount of memory.
