Trying to install an Holux GPSlim 236 - Networking

Hi,
I'm trying to reinstall my gps (an Holux GPSlim 236). I already installed the bluetooth tools and I'm having issues while creating a bluetooth association.
After scanning for available blutooth devices, the GPS is found. However, if I try to create the association, it asks me for a PIN. I have no idea what that pin is or where to find it.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

0000....it's in the GPS documentation.

I'm afraid I lost the docs. Is there any way to recover it?

the pin, as markgamber stated, is "0000"
(you can try also "1234" just in case)

TomTom Bluetooth is fixed (!)

You need GPS2.09, and it's available from the support site (!)
Are you saying that the bluetooth problem with gps is solved by the tomtom update and that I will have no need of Towas bluetooth patch.

That's it.
Just install the new driver.
Bond your BTGPS and in the driver select bluetooth gps.

Just wish the update was stable. I lose all my Checkboxes and Buttons when I open it.
Have you updated the application ?
I had this problem until I installed the update to 2.24

GPS DEVICE WONT BOND!

Hey there guys,
I got a problem, obviously
I have an Emtac III GPS unit: http://www.emtac.com/products/bluetooth/datasheet_btgpsiii.html
When I try to bond it, I get a yellow Q-mark. I get that even Before I try to add the password.
Secondly, Emtac does NOT have password, i.e. most BT devices have "0000" but this one hasnt got one.
In wm5.0 you HAVE to add a password in order to be able to click "Next" when adding a device. So I tried 0000, and also 0183 (which I got from a vendor).
None of them works, so my GPS device isnt bonded correctly and therefore I cant use it with Destinator GPS (like Tom Tom).
Does anyone know a fix/trick or anything that might help me??
NOTE: It worked great with my Magician before, no hassle there. So the GPS unit is fine.
[/img]
Not much I can add, only that the vendor passkey is the right one, as stated in the manual. Good luck. In most cases where a pairing process is not working the device driver is at fault, in other words not the right one for the device. Maybe a Win Mobile 5 issue, wrong driver (since it was working on your previous device). Suggest you check if you have the latest driver. Good luck.
Hi,
I'm also having the same problem with my Emtac III and my Jamin.
Again, it worked a treat with my old XDA2.
How did you go?
Did you find a fix?
Cheers,
Dev
Hi,
I have an i-Blue GPS and when I first bonded it, it had the same Question Mark as you. I then had to set up a new outgoing com port (next tab over) and then select the GPS device and pick a com port that was available - Com6 in my case.
I then edited my navigator.cfg file to force it to pick up Com6 as I couldn't pick it up from the list within navigator.
Have you gone through the steps of adding an outgoing port? This is a necessary step.
Hope it helps.
Craig.
Thanks Cags.
No I haven't set up an outgoing port, so I'll give it a whirl.
Destinator PN is the same as it only allows a certain number of comm ports to choose from.
Any got any ideas what file on Destinator PN I need to edit?
Cheers,
Deva
Hey thedeva,
I don't have any experience with Destinator sorry and I only had to change my cfg file because the options within Navigator wouldn't allow me to choose a com port that was allowable by the phone - I only had com 5 or 6. Maybe the port that your phone allows you to pick will be permitted in Destinator.
Sorry that doesn't help too much.
Craig.

Set up a NEW OUTGOING COM PORT on com ports tab (in bluetooth settings) - COM6 with secure connection - Open Destinator and go to gps settings and either hit find gps either put COM6 - 57600 - NMEA manually and it should work fine.
IF YOU USE DESTINATOR 6 (NEWER THAN PN) AND YOU HAVE SWICHED EMTAC GPS FROM NMEA MODE TO SIRF WITH CRUX VIEW IT WILL NOT WORK. SWICH IT BACK AGAIN TO NMEA MODE AND IT WILL WORK FINE.
Hope this one will help you out.
Cheers.

Gps don't have password on device such as HP but on qtek (HTC) yes
the Emtac PW is different than other Gps (usually oooo )
Emtac PW is : 0183
try this you will see it work
TomTom and BT GPS
I believe TomTom requires the name of the GPS to end in "GPS"... try renaming it - or deleting and re-doing the partnership.

iGO 2006 problem with bluetooth gps connection

I get use to TomTom but my friend said that iGO 2006 is better so I downloaded it, installed on my universal but there is no connection with my BT GPS. I tried many settings with comm. ports in iGO but nothing is happening. The software won't connect to BT GPS.
What else I can do?
Thanks in advance
Question? Did you activate Bluetooth from the ComManger?
You must activate it first the start iGO....
Geko
Hi!
Which GPS device are you using (NMEA or SIRF)?
In the GPS specs on the manual which comm port and baud rate does it use?

Atom don't have built-in GPS function, you have to get a external BT GPS receiver eg holux GPS Bluetooth Receiver plus map software.

You should buy a gps receiver, gps menu in your device just to help you find which COM did you connect the gps to,.
need a bluetooth connection to connect your device then,.
i am using garmin 10x, and it works very well with my atom,.
I have used and recommend iblue GPS, works very well and battery life is extrodinary.

I used Garmin BT10x w/ mobilext works fine too...

[Q] GPS

I am trying to use my Teletype GPS Bluetooth receiver with my A&. It detects it and pairs with it but shows up as not connected and so I do not know where I am on the map program. Any ideas??
Thanks
You need an additional application which allows you to use external GPS unit..it is called BlueGPS or similar ( this is one that I used...there are maybe others out there )...then Map or Navigation software will be able to comunicate with your GPS device

Thanks for your input. I dowloaded Blue GPS and it sees my device but Ndrive still does not - dealing with other issues with Ndrive but I do appreciat your input.

I too am using the Teletype Bluetooth GPS with build ElocityA7 DexterMod, Kernel ver 2.6.32.9-wvn2467, Firmware ver 2.2.
Using "Bluetooth GPS" I am able to lock onto the required satellites and they show up under the Status tab of the "Bluetooth GPS". However since the Bluetooth Teletype GPS is not connected under the Elocity A7 bluetooth status CoPilot Live 8 does not see a GPS.
Has anyone solved this problem?
No other Map programs see the GPS either. It seems that Elocity is aware of this and has not come up with a Bluetooth GPS recomendation yet.
Thanks
Paul

My external GPS works Via Bluetooth and BlueGPS. I works with google maps on my A7.
I installed BlueGPS and this resolved my issue. When starting BlueGPS look at the top of the screen and wath for the Bluetooth pairing notice. Swipe the top bar down and click on pairing - enter 0000 for the Teletype and it should show up in your map program.
