iGO 2006 problem with bluetooth gps connection - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I get use to TomTom but my friend said that iGO 2006 is better so I downloaded it, installed on my universal but there is no connection with my BT GPS. I tried many settings with comm. ports in iGO but nothing is happening. The software won't connect to BT GPS.
What else I can do?
Thanks in advance

Question? Did you activate Bluetooth from the ComManger?
You must activate it first the start iGO....
Geko

Hi!
Which GPS device are you using (NMEA or SIRF)?
In the GPS specs on the manual which comm port and baud rate does it use?

Ofcourse I did :]
Anyway, problem solved and I even dont know how...

I asked this Qiestion because TomTom activate Bluetooth on his own.
Geko

Yes I know, so activated BT first but not because of that i works now.
Anyway I will still be using tomtom, iGO has some bugs, but the maps lokks brilliant

I just bought a tomtom navigator 5 Original Cd from a mate and installed it on my XDA II, well my nightmare turned out when i tried to connect it with my BT GPS receiver and it doesnt seeem to work. TomTom - Pair GPS each time I use?

Hi,
I have recently got an O2 XDA Mini S, and I have TomTom 6 installed I have a generic non-TomTom Bluetooth GPS receiver (BT 77) which I got from eBay this works fine with my PDA.
The only problem I have had with it from day one is that I have pair my Bluetooth GPS each time that I use it. If I don't TomTom doesn't seem to detect it. E.g. go to Setting -> Connections -> Bluetooth then delete BT GPS, then I have to search for Bluetooth devices add it again and setup the ports each time I want to use TomTom. Then TomTom will pick it up.
Is this normal? Having to delete my GPS device and then add it again to be able to use it? I normally wait until my GPS has a lock on the satellites before opening TomTom.
Any suggestions on how I get my GPS setup permanently?
I have TT6 and TT's own receiver with Qtek 9100...works fine, pair it once and that's it.
Hi
Are you entering the four digit security code when asked ?. Mine did this till I got the code from the web site for my receiver.

I think you will find that the code you will need is 2003, but you maybe have to check the web site too!

The code in the guide that came with my GPS was 0000 and this works fine when I have to pair my GPS up, which you normally only have to do once.
I think I solved the problem though. Normally I have Bluetooth off and then tapping on TomTom would load up and then TomTom would automatically fire up Bluetooth for me. While it looked like TomTom was running Bluetooth fine it wouldn't actually detect my GPS.
Turning on Bluetooth before running TomTom seems to do the trick as it will detect it within about 7 seconds. Must just be a bug on Windows Mobile 5 or TomTom 6.

Well ok that is wierd cus it, i just start up tomtom and then select the gps and it works find!!! but i guess different with different gps units!!! but good to see that it is working for you now!
I have the same GPS unit as you and I don't have the issue you describe. If I manually enable Bluetooth before starting TomTom 6 it works, if I don't manually enable BT and then start TomTom 6, BT is started by TT6 and it still works. It probably takes a few seconds longer but it still connects quite quickly.
I have TT6 configured for 'Other BT GPS' on Com6. Com 6 appears as 'BT GPS' and is unsecured.

In the Bluetooth settings area for your GPS, make sure the "Secure Connection" box is NOT ticked. This should sort you out.

WM6 Bluetooth GPS NIGHTMARE!!!

HELLLP upgraded to WM6 on my BA and now my i-Blue GPS reciever wont sync up and TOMTOM cant even see it im gonna scream and cry has anyone got any ideas??? PLEASE PLEASE help
My BA works fine with my GPS receiver (make sure you added it, and assign COM port to the incoming port). Then I use TT6 with COM6 and it works just fine.
Some people uses the GPS application in Settings, but I did not.
now that used to be the case however i no longler have the ability on the menu to choose the BT ports on TT6 i have in this order..
BT UART
SERIAL CABLE ON COM 1
COM 9
IR ON COM 3
and thats it theres some missin:S any ideas??
also its just not syncin up like it used to with Wm2003 Grr
Try to assign to your receiver COM 1 or COM 9
Sometimes it is the GPS application that doesn't know how to use the external GPS management program.
Go to Settings -> Connections -> External GPS, set the two ports to "none" and uncheck the option to manage the ports automatically. Reset the device and try to choose the same port you have chosen at pairing.

Wow! it works great man!! thanks kerio (and gang)!!
This is kind of bit off-topic, but since you're talking about bluetooth GPS on a Blue Angel I wanted to ask: how well does it work? As I have do not have any sense of direction at all, I've been thinking about buying a Bluetooth GPS receiver, but can a $35 GPS really be accurate and work well? Will any BT GPS receiver work? What kind of software do you use on the PDA? Thank you!
hi, set the gps hardware port (com6) in the external gps settings. set the new outgoing port in the blutooth settings (com6) and in the TT6 set the com6 in other nmea gps. it works.

[Q] GPS

I am trying to use my Teletype GPS Bluetooth receiver with my A&. It detects it and pairs with it but shows up as not connected and so I do not know where I am on the map program. Any ideas??
Thanks
You need an additional application which allows you to use external GPS unit..it is called BlueGPS or similar ( this is one that I used...there are maybe others out there )...then Map or Navigation software will be able to comunicate with your GPS device

I too am using the Teletype Bluetooth GPS with build ElocityA7 DexterMod, Kernel ver 2.6.32.9-wvn2467, Firmware ver 2.2.
Using "Bluetooth GPS" I am able to lock onto the required satellites and they show up under the Status tab of the "Bluetooth GPS". However since the Bluetooth Teletype GPS is not connected under the Elocity A7 bluetooth status CoPilot Live 8 does not see a GPS.
Has anyone solved this problem?
No other Map programs see the GPS either. It seems that Elocity is aware of this and has not come up with a Bluetooth GPS recomendation yet.
Thanks
Paul

My external GPS works Via Bluetooth and BlueGPS. I works with google maps on my A7.
I installed BlueGPS and this resolved my issue. When starting BlueGPS look at the top of the screen and wath for the Bluetooth pairing notice. Swipe the top bar down and click on pairing - enter 0000 for the Teletype and it should show up in your map program.
