I had to do a hard reset after phone started locking up a lot. Well now I have 2 new problems that are becoming annoying.
1. When i try to close sms application it will act like it was closing but will open right back up. The only way to get it to stop is to do a soft reset.
2. Sometimes when people call phone will show a call but won't ring and will lock the phone up to where you can't do anything.
Both of these problems are starting to happen on a more frequent basis. Been looking but can't find answers to my problems.
try with hardreset phoen without much applications in.

Hi
Im noticing that the xdaII tends to lockup more often than the xda1.
Often if i try and switch it on with the power key, nothing happens. Need to soft reboot it.
Other times, the menus and actions go very slow. Other times, the contacts wont display, now matter how often the contact button is pressed.
any thoughts?
I have noticed a few locks usually when trying to end a phone call....just doesn't respond and needs a soft-reset.
It also sometimes takes AGES to power on or get to the bluetooth screen...
Better than XDA1 though!

Same here, and when someone tries to call me, it seems to me that the Phone does not react on an incoming call too. I've just tried it when i found my Qtek 2020 locked again. I can't put it on, but both blue and yellow leds are flashing. I called myself again, but it does not respond. This is definetely NOT good ! I had some complaints already that i couldn't be reached, I did not realise it's the device !! It works fine after a reset but it happend a few times already, without notice. This is something that really bothers me. Any ideas?
too many active processes
the device, as configured, has too many running processes.
Microsoft had the wisdom to limit the PPC to 32 processes.
After that, it removes some of them... which can crash the system.
You should remove some of the \window\startup applications,
most likely the sim manager, backpack, and the xflashman.exe
apps which auto-backup the contacts/appointments.
this was discussed on ppcw.net ... and has certainly cleared most of my problems.
I still see the phone not receieving a call while GPRS is active,
e.g. when it checks for my email while someone tries to call.
Anyone else can confirm this?
1. connect to GPRS
1. start IE for a large page via GRPS
2. call yourself from a land line while IE is loading
Of having to soft reset my XDA 2 all the time
The main cause is when sending an SMS. I tap the send icon and the cloud just stays there for about a minute or two and then it takes me to the phone screen. So I try to stop the program and it says it's not responding. It sometimes does it when trying to make a call, it says dialling but it just crashes.
My XDA 2 is relatively clean with bearly any extra programs running on it. For a 400mhz cpu it's slow as ****.
Anyone else having these probs?
if you use pocketplus and have it set to close programs insted of minimizing them and close outlook befor ethe msg is sendt that happens
since i tell people this every week it must be a pretty common issue for people odd that they dont turn it off for outlook as default
closing many other pocketpc programs for real can also cause issues
it's not the way that they were made to be run

Why do you assume that I'm using pocketplus :?: I'm not using any software that automatically closes programs.
which cloud? the "your message has been sent" bubble?
i have an xda II and a pda2, and haven't had this problem on either. i did have an issue where if the "your message has been sent" bubble was open when i turned off the pda (put it into standby), then the message would stay permanently there until i soft reset (i think thats what happened, its been a long time since i turned it off with the bubble open).
but no crashing.. have you tried hard resetting the device?
I mean the send button. When you tap it it briefly turns into a cloud and then goes away, but mine sometimes just sticks on it.
Can't be bothered hard resetting. It doesn't happen all the time it's just annoying when it does.
cheers though
Hi guys,
not sure if any one of you have this problem? My set will auto reboot if my incoming sms is not read and when the vibrate in new incoming sms is set.
Did a full hard reset to reload rom, still there. Tested on a newly reload rom, still suck big time. But i do enjoy hard resetting and loading diffferent boot-loader to the phone.
Enjoyed this phone except for this crazy issue.
Going to get SE to replace the set. Hope it goes away.

well if this really is an issue, I doubt replacing the phone will help because it is most likely a bug in the firmware rather than the hardware itself..
why don't you try to fix the battery more firmly, so that the contacts to be made better. it may be the poor contact with the batter, so when your phone vibrates it restarts.
there's no way to be a soft error.
Got the new phone today. the issue so far is not happening.
The phone will vibrate then after awhile like 3-5 minutes then restart, or some time black out. When it balck out, you can heard a beep when you try the power button, then i will go dead till you take out the battery and restart.
The new phone definately feels much faster then the old one, even with all the same contacts and programs installed. So i believe it was a hardware problem. So far i did not see anyone with the same problem so i think it is a one off thing.
The phone hung a couple of days ago (nothing new) so i pulled the battery as I didn't have a pointy thing for the reset button. When it rebooted it came up with a red scroll bar on the windows splash screen. It then asked me what network I was on and had to be set up as if it was freshly hard reset! It had lost all emails and settings, but kept all the texts and programs, although it kept asking me if I wanted to run various component of these programs in case they were malicious!
Has anyone else experinced this?
I can't believe how unstable it is, even before this happenned I was soft reseting it daily when it hangs, usually trying to wake the phone after a text or missed call, or on the music player screen. Honestly, when it works I love it but more often than not I want to throw it at a brick wall!
Come on HTC, give us a ROM we can use day to day, this is a joke!
Dear all,
Had been using mini for pass 5 months, recently it experiences intermittent freezing or slow down while in the midst of doing something such as writing a text memo. If i just wait awhile it will resume back normal. If not, it will hang. Just today I have to force soft reset the phone 3 times (taking out the battery and putting it back ). It is getting annoying as it has become more and more frequent. It is as though some background program has started running and it taking up the CPU resources only releasing it moments later.
Initially I thought it was due to phone network connection seeking to connect to 3G (I disable my 3G already) so I turn on the flight mode. But the intermittent freezing is still happening.
Another reason might be that I have a lot of programs running. This I reset the phone. It became better for a while but problem recurred soon after. I have Lumos, FTouchSL, B&B tweaks running in the background.
The only thing I have not done is a hard reset which I am trying to avoid as far as possible.
Any advice?
Hi, maybe BSB Tweaks create problems!
You have to restore the original settings in BSB Tweaks and see what happens later on...
If you have to soft reset too often, you'll probably need to have the unit replaced. My first unit requires a minimum of 5 soft reset each day. (Open back cover and take out battery). Since mini doesn't have any reset button, taking out battery too often will wear out the physical unit quickly.
Note, if you ask for replacement, be sure the new back cover comes with it. Some shops will force you to replace only the core unit, and let you take back the old back cover instead of the new one that comes with the new unit.
My second unit is better. It doesn't require soft reset everyday. In fact, it can last for several days without soft reset. Soft reset becomes a rare thing.
Unfortunately, my unit hangs every few weeks. Sometimes one week. Sometimes one month. No exact duration. When it does, only hard reset can cure it. And i lose all data.
I also found out the Sense UI is a very buggy and incomplete software. It's the cause of several headaches. You can disable it. But along with it, you lose many functions, which HTC stupidly tied up to the Sense UI, and remove from core functions of WinMo. I've been forcing HTC to do something about it, thru several complaints, but unfortunately, they're just sitting on it. Maybe until enough numbers of complaints come in before they will act.
