Broken 8125 - Need a Rigid-Flex Board... - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I am looking for the Rigid-Flex Board with ribbon cables attached that sits behind the LCD and is the board that the Front Keypad inputs to... Anyone got one that they could part with? It is part #:50H10045-01M I believe...
Thanks,

i have one but the ribbon cable is severed which causes the earpiece to not work, but everything else is functional.

R U sure you are talking about the same board/cable assembly? I need the one that contains the Front Keypad sensors and sits Behind the LCD, not in the main body of the unit but in the screen section...

This is what i've got,

remember, mines cut so the earpiece won't work, also check this thread for more pics and discussion.

Yup, same board... Any luck finding one for yourself?

well, if you read in the thread posted above, a little felt pad with a plastic top had cut mine. So i bought a damaged t-mobile mda off ebay and swapped the parts with the ripped one i have. So i'm using the good one on my wizard and have the one with the rip in the damaged mda. so what i've got now is the ripped one.

I no longer have the mainboard so please don't PM me asking for it.

WTB: Broken 8525 or, help me find a part....please!

Hey guys, I need the ribbon cable for an 8525, I actually need 2 of them because I severed one, and then I severed the replacement from another phone that I bought. At first, I bought a ribbon cable from cnn.cn but it doesn't work for some reason, it just shows a white screen no matter what. I swapped my phones board into another persons phone and it worked fine, I put theirs in mine with the cnn.cn ribbon cable, and same thing, white screen. So, does anyone have a broken 8525 in which the ribbon cable is still in tact and not water damaged? If so, please let me know, I would like to buy it off of you, or, does anyone know where I can buy a ribbon cable that will work? Thanks!
theres many ribbon cables - please specify
Have you tested different front keyboard circuit board? I mean this part: http://cnn.cn/shop/tytnsoftbank-x01ht-front-keyboard-p-1553.html ?
I had the fading to white problem and it was fixed with that(there are a lot of faulty front KB switchboards around)..
You can also try a solution found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303872&page=8 post #78 -it might help you.

The one that goes from the LCD to the mainboard.
Yes I have tried, it's no the white screen problem, the ribbon itself is the problem, I took the ribbon out of anther phone and tried it with the front keyboard thats in my phone, worked perfectly....

If you read my original post, I bought one from there, the cable doesn't work, it just shows a white screen, so I'm not sure whether the cable is defective, or if they cable they are selling is just incompatible.
If anyone has a broken phone with a good ribbon cable, please let me know ASAP, I'd like to buy it ASAP and am willing to pay a good price. Thanks!!
anyone have anything??

wanted htc wizard main board

I broke the screen on mda and purchased a replacement but I think i fried my main board during the installation of the lcd. Is anyone selling a mainboard for the wizard or know where I can find a mainboard? I have checked on ebay and have found broken phones with bad usb connectors or headphone jacks. I don't need that. If anyone is selling a mainboard for the wizard as well as the housing, as long as its in good condition, please let me know. Thanks --> Mistawright
Are you sure it's dead??

I've just received a new screen for mine from HK. When I first put it in all I could get was a white screen, nothing else.
After ages of stripping down etc I found that it was the screen connector causing the grief - tape it down with some electrical tape and away it went.
Got versed in the art of connecting the screen to the main board and holding the battery in place at each stage of the re-construction to ensure it was still working.
I dropped mine and had vertical lines on the right side of the screen. Now, with the new screen in, initially it was fine but has just started wavering a little on the right side, so I may have had more than just a screen issue. Still as long as it lasts until my Kaiser arrives from T-Mo I'll be happy.
So are you selling a mainboard or not? If you are not what was the point of your post?

The point was in the subject of the reply: ARE YOU SURE IT'S DEAD?
I offered help based on my experience changing the screen and questioning wether your mainboard was really dead or not.
But if you don't anybody offering advice and only want to buy another mainboard without really checking if yours is dead or not then I'll shut up.
lets start from the beginning.
1) I broke the screen.
2) the phone would power on but cracked screen.
3) I bought a replacement
4) after taking the phone apartment and replacing screen phone does not power on
5) Amber light does not come on on phone when connected to charger.
Instead of suggestions like the topic of the thread says I'm looking to purchase a working mainboard or a phone with a cracked screen that works at a decent price.
Hi,
Did you follow any replacement doc to do the job? Or you just started alone? I asked you cause I got a LCD for my friend and together we replaced it without any problems. Everything is working fine! Remember that exist many pitty hardware parts during the process you should care about it. If you missed or have broken one of them, you'll probably fried the main board or similar component!

What else can I replace? (Screen issue)

My screen started turning white awhile back. I now have a screen and a ribbon cable.
I replaced the screen first, and the new screen shows only white. Probably the cable, right?
Then I replaced the ribbon (keeping the new screen in) and still got only white.
Hooked the old screen back up with the new ribbon cable, and now I have a working screen, but the colors are horribly washed out and it looks like it has lines of white every other line or so.
Is there anything else I can do? Should I give up? Suggestions?
Thanks guys, I don't know if I've ever posted here, but you've been a great help for many years!

Assuming the cable connectors are good and clean, it is now generally accepted that white screen issues are caused by faulty chip connections on the d-pad daughter board. If you can replace that at a reasonable cost, it might be worth it.
Your new screen may have been white because either:
1
The d-pad board is indeed faulty
OR 2
The new screen although made for the Hermes is not an exact match. You MUST replace like with like. There were at least 3 different and NON-compatible screens made for the Hermes (by different manufacturers - Toppoly, Samsung etc). The only easy way to know if the new screen is the correct one is to compare the code numbers printed on the rear of the screens.

I'll have to keep a eye on eBay for a d-pad... There are a few parts phones out there now, but I can't tell if they have the right parts inside or not,
Does the serial number tell me what screen components it uses (IE Serial number XXXX+ came with the black flex, XXXX and below came with the white flex, etc?)

It may be that you can match screen to seriel number, but so far as I know, nobody has done that detailed matchiing task. So unfortunately at the moment, the only way to tell is to dismantle and see the number.
A thought crossed my mind about the d-pad board. Have you read the long thread about fixing the whitescreen problem. One reasonably successful solution is to place a little padding on a d-pad chip to press it against it's board. (simply put the issue arises from fractured chip solder joints - caused by finger presses on the d-pad). I don't suggest this as a permanent fix, but if such padding caused the whitescreen to disappear, then at least you could be sure it is a d-pad problem.

My boss is a parnter in a Electric car conversion company, and they build all sorts of small circuitry (including surface mount stuff) so I'll take the board into one of them and ask if they'll re-do the solder joints for me, thanks.
I never posted here, but I got all the information I used to try and fix it here, but in all my searches, I don't think I ever read anything about the Dpad untill the past few days... So thanks alot for that...

One thing if you have the solder reflowed (obvious to some but not all!!) remember to peel off the sticky plastic layer on the opposite side or you'll end up with a sticky mess

Needed Button Strip - Anyone have HD2 Parts?

In the process of replacing my lcm, I managed to tear the button flex cable that connects to the mainboard.
I am currently looking for a the button flex replacement. What is the best way of tracking something like this down without going to HTC?
If there is no current seller/merchant available...Um...Is anyone selling an HTC HD2 for parts!?!?!?
Pics included...You can see the button strip, and the little 45 degree angle break on the flex..SUCKS!
I saw the break... Man, that's bad luck...
I hope you find a new button strip. The only other solution would be to solder fine wires from the point I highlighted on the photo. But that is very very very difficult... If you decide to do so until you find a new button strip I would recommend you to let an expert solder it, for example a television-technician. That shouldn't cost you more than a bier for the technician!
Wish you luck!
This just in, I have since purchased a broken hd2 and replaced the button strip. It has a light adhesive and is mounted on two small plastic posts on either end. To loosen the adhesive, just apply gentle heat (blow dryer) and GENTLY peel off. You might come across a stubborn part and want to give it a harsh tug, but you need to methodically peel it up using some sort of flat piece to get from underneath it.
Another torn flex Anyone has spare one or knows where can I get it?
I'm sorry but can't help. I get parts for iPAQs from iPAQ Repairs in the UK. I'm surprised there isn't something similar for HTC parts.
I'm interested in what an 'lcm' is. I've seen it mentioned but with no description.
i need one of these too. i hate htc's policy in not selling parts directly.
This button board should only be like upto $40 usd.
im needing a main board charger soxet broke if price is right ill sell
I have the same problem ....you solved?
where did you buy?
Hi

You should be a good electronic technician or know a good one. Otherwise I advice you not to try. I am a ordinary technician and I can say that in my case it was very very difficult and even if I tried hard, I wasn't able fix all connections. Only two of my buttons work right now.
How to Replace Button Strip?
Anyone know of a link showing how to replace this strip? Either I can't find key words for a search or there aren't any good videos out there. - thanks
Good to hear I'm not the only one to snap it so easily. Ordered a replacement from e-bay.
Sorry to dig up an old post but, I need that little wire that connects the wifi/bluetooth module to the main board. I replaced the digitizer in my phone and I somehow jacked up one of the ends on the cable. Anyone out there have parts?

Hit some problems during screen replacement

Just bought a new screen for a cracked hd2 and hit some problems. Firstly, its a uk hd2, so it was a solder connection, i bought the screen + digi from ebay and noticed it was a ribbon connection (not sure if that will make a difference). When undoing these plastic clips
http://imgur.com/Faiyig3
Both broke. They were so brittle, has anybody seen/heard of a way to fix this? I put it all back together and the screen does come on, but touch doesnt work.
Can anybody tell me what these cables do? Is one for touch, what about the other?
Gutted about my hd2, its been going so well all these years...is it fixable?
Not good :-/
those 2 clips: one is the flex ribbon connector & other is the LCD ribbon connector.
The ribbon from LCD also is feed for digitizer.
Not sure if the locking arms are replaceable by themselves ! will look at an old mainboard & see.
you may get some function by bending a very light V in the ribbon so point of v is ribbon contact face & thus pushes tighter in socket promoting better contact.
putting a bit of tape on back may help too! be careful though as actual socket is very fragile too ...

Tell me about it, thanks for explaining what the ribbon connectors do...I couldn't understand why the screen would turn on if the connector was broke. That's a good idea about slightly bending the cable, I will try that tomorrow afternoon. If i could swap them out, that would be awesome.
Thanks for answering, I appreciate you talking time to help a fellow hd2 fan!
Have made none working digitizer work via creating very light v shape bend in middle of contact area (bending across width of cable)
Do be gentle though ... not sure how successful it will be without clamp though :-/
