Unlocking the 8125

Well everyone, I did it! I managed to get the Cingular 8125 for $314.00 shipped next day from cingular. Got lucky with a nice sales rep.
Being that I am on the former AT&T wireless, I need to unlock this thing!
So, I am pretty much starving for knowledge here. I've combed the forum with little luck.
Anyone care to help out?
I am interested in Carrier Unlocking, and CID unlocking, flashing with button's cooked rom (which i was told to do but have no clue where to find this) , flash with radio rom 1.13. Any help would be awesome!
Thanks very much! Im very excited here!
Looking forward to responses.
Dan
I guess something i am not quite up to speed with is the phone also being the "wizard"
what else is this thing refered to?
I found the lokwiz post about unlocking. Is this what I will need for the 8125?
I just want to make sure Im doing this stuff right.
Tomorrow the phone is supposed to arrive, and I just wanna be ready to do what is neccessary to get it up and running
Thanks.
You got the phone for $314 with or without a contract? If you got it for $314 without a contract, please let me know how you did it and the name of the sales rep and everything. I really really want this phone badly and I don't want to get a new contract. And by the way, lokiwiz is the right program you need to unlock it. The 8125 is based on the original hardware called "Wizard." Lokwiz will work on any phone based on the "Wizard".
lokwiz is he right ting, unlocked my 8125 a couple of days ago.

Question if you've gone from a Wizard to a Hermes..

Hi guys!
Well, I started with an SX-66 Blue Angel, and for the past year, have been enjoying my Cingular 8125.
It's a little slow; wifi takes some time to connect; the screen could be bigger, but overall, I am pleased with the device.
I am up here in Canada, on the Rogers network.
Now, I have to get a new PocketPC...
I was wondering if I should get another 8125, and just "be happy" that it works alright, ORRRRR, should I spend an extra $200 and go with the TYTN???
If anyone can offer any insight, it would help me greatly.
I usually think "NEWEST AND LATEST IS BETTER!!!" but lately, I have had some issues with that train of thought. I'll upgrade something only to think, "Darn! This one is missing feature XYZ!"
So, if anyone has gone from a Wizard to a Hermes, please let me know your thoughts, especially if you use Rogers as your GSM/GPRS provider!
Thanks so much!
Mike

8525 or 8925

I just bought an 8525 and realised I could have gotten the 8925 for less instead. Should I keep the 8525 or trade it within the 30 day window for the 8925?
If you decide you don't want to do it. Do it anyway and I will trade you my 8525 for the 8925
Trade it in. Get the 8925. Its better and cheaper. What more convincing do you need.
I just faced this same decision, and decided to stay with the 8525. Here's why:
1. The 8525 is a known device - lots of fixes for the things that don't work. The 8925 is unknown, and there have been lots of complaints without a lot of solutions to follow them up.
2. The 8925 only has the offical WM6 ROM - for the 8525 I can get several different WM6 ROMs to suit what I need.
3. I don't see the built in GPS as a big win. The extra memory would definitely be nice, but not worth the frustration considering #1.
In the end, it came down to just being happy with the unit I have - it does everything I need, and it does it well.
Brian.
Get the 8925!

Selling my MDA

Before I make a post on ebay or whatever, I thought I'd ask if anyone here would be interested in my MDA. The stylus is gone and the case is worn, but it still works. CID and SIM unlocked (currently has mfrazzz's XDA Mobile 6 Release 2 on it). I can flash it with whatever ROM you'd like.
Phone is located in Jacksonville, Florida. I was hoping to get $150 or so for it. Or perhaps trade for a wifi/bt pda.
I'd love to have someone who knows what this phone is have it rather than some shmoo who thinks its an "iphone wannabe".
Pics would be good....

Dell Beta units.. any known issues

As the title says. I'm looking at picking up a streak, one of the beta ones. I know they have at&t issues. but is there anything else I should be aware of?
Are they known to have any issues?
Any known hardware defects?

Im using it with Rogers here in Toronto... been using it since August. No difference between the Beta and Retail. If anything, it's better because I never saw most of the issues others have been complaining about with any of custom ROMS. Also, by default you are able to install third party apps where AT&T locked it out.
Just so you know though... Rogers IS coming out with it any day now.
I feel silly for not knowing that.. I wonder if it'll be locked to rogers?
I'm using mine on TMO in the US. No problems, functionality-wise. 2.1 O2 ROM. The silver "Dell" logo on back came off in the extreme Texas heat, but that's no biggie. It works like a charm.

interesting.. you can purchase it now from dell.ca btw. Though it says it's a SIM FREE DEVICE for rogers only.

One thing to note about the betas is they are under absolutely NO warranty. So if your device fails after buying it, its time to buy a new one. And if the seller's device fails, well, that's probably why he's selling it.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Looks like dell updated the page and removed the sim free statement.. The price is pretty great.. Just need to find out if it can be unlocked like the at&t one with the card.. Anyone ordered one yet?
