02 XDA Trion locking up - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have the 02 XDA Trion running the ROM Version 1.23.707.1 and it has been working fine for about two months. Now I get constant locks up after the screen is turned off, so by pressing the power button the phone does not come out of that mode.
All of the LED's blink as normal.
Investigation has shown that if I remove the starage card and press the power button the phone works fine.
The storage card has been checked and apperas to work fine,
Any help on this matter would be great.
Mark

Got any today plugins installed on the SD card? Was getting exactly the same problems when I did.

Thanks for the reply, no plugs in installed and it just started happening a few days ago.

Dead Power Button and MDA II reboots on startup!!! Fcuked!!

Hi,
I am depressed. When I bought the MDA II a week ago (used) it had a problem that I didnt think would be so bad. The power button didnt work (which I didnt know when I bought it off ebay). So I though what the hell, I can do without it since you can use software to bootload. I updated to WM2005 and everything was fine. Did Buzz's RAM and DOC patches and ok until here. When I tried to install some apps and games I tried to install Age of Empires and try to run it. My Himalaya did crash and I had to remove the battery. When it started it shows me the T-mobile logo, the rom versions etc and then the backlight goes off and resets over and over again by itslef.
Now without a working power button I cannot go into Bootloader mode, since I cant go into the OS I cant run software to go into bootloader mode. I opened the device (I have no warranty anyways) tried to remove the battery but all data was store on the devices memory so I dont think that did much. I tried to figure out what the problem with the button was, but it is so small I cant figure out where the problem is.
So no warranty, no powerbutton and no OS. Exept of the fact that I am ****ed, its 7 o clock in the morning ( No I havent just woken up ) do you think that my Himalaya will every see the light again? If yes, how?
Thanks for reading!
you can try to format it first. just press camera, record, reset button. no need to press power button.
Thanks that worked! I had to clean the regestry as well though!

My Wizard / MDA suddenly frozen! Pls Help!

Hi - I've been lurking and trying some of the less intensive, flashing-not-required tweaks with success. But suddenly today, I'm having an issue.
My MDA/Wizard is all of a sudden frozen! I havent done anything to it since I got to work today (except blug it in to charge it) and on my way to work, it was operating fine - I watched some anime, read an ebook and listened to music with no problems.
What I've noticed:
- Signal light flashing, but cant get to phone app, doesn't ring when call comes in, gets a generic on-screen notification with no Call ID
- Screen frozen, can hear tapping noise, but nothing happens
- Goes to sleep mode and Power button can wake up as normal, but still frozen and Power button wont turn off device
- Buttons make noise when pressed, but no result
- Of all of the plug-ins (3) and built-ins (5) that are usually on screen, my Messages one has suddenly disappeared.
Today Screen:
*Date
*Owner
*Tasks
*Messages - GONE
*Agile Msgr
*SPB WMP plug in
*SPB Weather
*Device lock
The last thing that I installed was a .cab file from the Big All Tweaks Thread - it was the one that got the Caps/Fn indicator and "E"dge indicators on screen. But EVERYTHING was working after the install and til 15 min ago (14hrs total). I've soft reset about 6 times and even took out the battery with no luck. If I plug it into USB, it charges, but no recognition from AS.
Please help! I'm at work, my contacts and stuff are on home PC.
I'm running the original T-Mobile Rom and I'm not unlocked yet (I was trying to get up the nerve this weekend!)
Thanks in advance!
Hmm....no response?
I'm hope now...
I am beginning to wonder if my problem isn't related to the issue that pple seem to be having with the MDA zapping the SD card. I took out my card and then did a soft reset. My device is workign just fine with out it. Seems that if I put it bak in, there it goes freezing again.
The card seems fine when I put it in the reader, but if the MDA is having a problem with it, I'll be mighty vexed, as it is a week old 1gb card
If anyone has any imput, please chime in.....
I am wavering between trying to figure this out....or just going for it and updating my ROM while I'm going thru all of this anyway...
:nervous:
i have the same issues with about the same software loaded and freezes. to recover from the freeze, i press the reset button and while the phone boots up i press the phone "answer /hangup" buttons once or twice and it boots up.
i do notice something strange after a reboot- the programs on the 1gb sd card are no longer recognized. when i check file explorer, i can see the wizard has creadted a new file store location called 'Storage Card" and it has renamed my stoage card " Storage Card 2". All my files are then seen on "storage Card 2" but cannot be run.
i then deleted "storage card" and rebooted. the wizard then automatically renamned "sorage card 2" back to "storage card" and all my installed programs were ecognized and worked just fine. i suspect there is a bug in the OS regarding stogae card recognition at boot up . any ideas on this ?
thanks

O2 Xda II Mini power button malfunctioning (software prob)

Hi guys,
Got my Xda II Mini a couple of weeks ago and I've encountered a problem.
Every now and then, all of a sudden the power button stops responding. I press it, and nothing happens. The only way to get it working again is if I perform a soft reset. Once the soft reset is performed and the system reboots, the power button will work fine for a while until after I've used a random application (seems to happen randomly with applications) then the power button will stop working again.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? It seems to be a software issue as the button itself isn't physically stuck, and getting it working again is done by a soft reset. Could it be something I installed?
power button
Anyone help on this?
power button
Had the same problem with my mini several weeks ago ie intermittant not being able to switch it on or off. A real pain! Thought it would have to go in for repair. A (dreaded) hard reset fixed it and it has not been a problem since.
Would you be surprised if I said that I have NO power button on my Magician. Well, I have been using it without the power button since I got it. I use the soft reset to start it, and to permanently turn it off, I temporarily slide down the battery cover. I keep Button Lock in Off mode so that I can turn it on with any button.
I have done numerous firmware changes to the phone using USB and the power botton hasn't been a problem. The very reason I could have this phone was that its previous owner lost the parts of the power button and he gave it away to me.
Since people are talking about the POWER BUTTON, just thought I would share my experience (well can't really say that cos I never experienced one) here.
I had the exact same problem - I took the SD card out and boom.. worked like a charm again
Would love to know if this is the same problem.

Fix found!
From the information posted on this forum, and an incident where my O2 XDA Mini was very low on batteries, I've put two and two together and I think I may have found a solution to this issue!
1. Start up your O2 XDA Mini with your SD Card taken out.
2. Once your Mini has fully booted up, put the SD Card back in.
3. Your O2 XDA Mini should work fine now, and no button lock problem!
My theory on why this works is that when you start up the mini, what happens is that the operating system recognises that the SD Card isn't that compatible and changes some settings. These settings changes in turn causes the button lock issue. Please correct me if I'm wrong
Yes Yes Yes
tekkaman, THANKS A LOT.
I just had the case this morning and your post saves my day

T-Mobile MDA Is Frozen: HELP!!!!

My MDA now all of a sudden keeps locking up on boot-up. It gets to the Today screen and then locks up. I can't do a darn thing. I can hit the power button and it turns the backlight on and off. But I can't turn the phone off or on once it's locked up. All I can do is take the battery out to turn the phone off. But when I go to turn it back on, it just locks up. I can't get it to do a damn thing. Now its says Rebooting in Safe Mode.....and is locked up. I have no clue what to do. I'm on Cust ROM 2.21.
Any ideas?
The same thing just happened to my SIM unlocked 8125 today! I can't even hard reset it. I am on 2.25. I can soft reset it, but a hard rest won't work... I am lost, it worked flawlessly for 5 days, I hung up with a telephone call today and boom, junk... Any ideas how to help me get this thing hard reset? If i press com button and voice button and hit reset, it is just as though I did a soft rest.
So i got it unfrozen by reflashing with the Cingular 225 ROM. Then I had to reload all my crap, well, just a couple of apps... I turned off the phone last night and now when I turn it on this morning, same friggin junk! This is going to suck if I have to keep reloading... The only installed apps were:
spb pocketplus 3.0
AEBPlus and devicelock to map comm button
Any ideas??
Try restarting (soft) with the SD removed. Double check that you have operability after bootup, then reinsert card and verify it is accessing it properly (load a file explorer). Then, do another restart with the card in (by holding down the power button, not the softrestart button) to verify all is good.
It just happened to me about half an hour ago but figured out how to get it running again. Decided to search for "safe mode" to see if there's another way around it, and came up with this post
Hey, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I didn't have a sd card in the phone, I am still waiting for it to be delivered. I have found that by not turning the unit off (holding power button down) it has not happened again. I have also opted not to install any applications until I get my card.
I will play more some other day. I will come back and post a result.

HTC Vogue/Touch - Hardware Buttons Not Working

Hi,
Three of my hardware buttons have stopped working. (Green/Red/Camera). I can tell they are not physically broken, because if the backlight is off pressing them turns it on.
I have done a hard reset of my phone, and these buttons still do not work.
Does anybody have any idea what the issue might be? And how I can fix it??
Thanks,
Have you installed any new programs recently? Re-flashed to a new ROM?
I tried out PointUI, which I think is what did it. I did not flash to a new ROM.
I did a hard-reset, so I would assume anything PointUI did should have been undone?
Update:
I found that if I repeatedly press the green dial button, the dialer does eventually come up. I don't understand this because it's clear the keypress is registered on the first press as the backlight turns on.
I also just tried flashed the ROM with a slightly newer version from my carrier, still no change. The buttons worked perfectly before today.

Nayr2,
I'm having the same problem, but it's only intermittent. I will let you know if I find the culprit. I just soft reset and they are working again. It seems to work for awhile and then they just stop working... Weird. I'm using OMJ's WM6.1 107.3 ROM. What programs have you recently installed?
DJ
I RMA'd my phone, it must be a hardware issue. I've started experiencing lockups recently as well.
Does your storage card work? I found that whenever the buttons stopped working the storage card disappeared as well. They must have a common chip that controls them.

Storage Card working fine... I did have some strange corruption issues with my storage card on some earlier ROMs... I'll look into it.
DJ
I'm having the same issues as the rest of you. The only program that I did install was PointUI. After removing it thats when it started acting up. When its off it won't charge and then when you try to turn it on it won't react to the power button.
Something with PointUI because I just installed it on my Tilt and it's doing the same thing.
I had the same issue. But I am sure that's hardware. Those three buttons stopped working. And in order to turn on the phone when it's shut off, I need to take off the battery and put it back in. Otherwise, the power button didn't work.
When I tried to update the ROM to the latest Sprint version, the update failed and my phone was totally dead. I looked into the forum and tried almost every effort but still couldn't bring it back to life.
I then got a new one.
Mine did the same thing, I had to get a new one.
i have the same problem on samsung omnia
did anyone find a fix for this?
