need to regiter at www.myxda.com and download the software upgrade. can someon ehelp as my device's IMEI is considered invalid for some reason
Thanks
O2 Technical Support, Asia Pacific Region have been no help
I have a O2 XDA which I am using in Melbourne, Australia but had purchased from Uk and had it unlatched before coming to Australia
I have been trying in vain to register the unit at www.myxda.com and it considers the IMEI number as invalid.
Can you please give me an IMEI number thats good for registering cause all I want is to be able to download the software upgrade
Hi,
I am suffering the same problem as you too. I just purchased my Brand-New O2 XDA2 Asia. But the IMEI printed on the back of the device (uncovered after by removing the battery pack) is NO Good for registering. By pressing "*#06#" directly on the phone dialer, the displayed IMEI is STILL NO GOOD for registering into "www.myxda.com". The displayed IMEI is 17 digits. I googled it on the web about IMEI and the results came back it as should be an Uniquely defined 15 digits. After I tried with the whole 17 digits or just the 1st 15 digits for their own web registering, ALL FAILED. Many tries from asking help from that Officially Authorized(they claimed that authorized by O2-Singapore) Retailer where I had purchased my XDA2 from. No good answer back after all. They even told me that they had never given it a try to register into "www.myxda.com" at all, because they didn't have an XDA2 device to do that. Wow, what a BIG supprised me! They sold it many but they just didn't have a device for registering test.
What a DAM* SH*T service they are!!!

Hi Guys,
This is a story we commonly hear over at the MTekk forums. It seems that the most common solution is to e-mail them with your problem, purchase details and IMEI on...
helpdesk-asia<at>O2.com or
contactusasia<at>o2.com or
myxda_asia<at>o2.com
...and they will add your IMEI to the database, which seems to be rather incomplete. Don't expect immediate turn-around on your request either, they can be a little slow.

As it's a UK XDA Can you not just use the upgrade available for the UK version at www.my-xda.com ?
Hi everyone,
This is my first post. I don't own any Pocket PC yet. I was hoping the HTC Universal would be my first. I had been lurking around this web site for a while now, trying to find a cheaper way of getting an O2 XDA EXEC.
Last night I e-mailed O2's customer support and got a response. They gave me a number to call, although they stated that they don't deliver outside the UK, they gave me a number to further inquire. Maybe if more of us could call, then maybe we could change their minds. I am attaching a copy of the reponse letter so that hopefully some light may shine our way.
Goodluck everyone.

O2 (UK) Limited, Registered Office: 260 Bath Road, Slough, Berkshire SL1 4DX. Registered in England No 1743099.
I bought my Qtek 9100 from an electronics store in London, they get them from a company called SmartDevices (also a UK company).
To start off with, I tried to register my phone (via the IMEI number) at qtek.nl, qtek.nu, qtek.se, and any other qtek site I could find that allows you to register, but was told by all of them that my IMEI number is not valid. I thought this was odd, and I have seen a few more posts where people have said they were told the same thing.
I also was concerned by a few posts that the 2-year warranty doesn't seem to have a phone number or company to call when the phone needs repair. Well, I carefully read every word of the warranty and found that I am to contact a company called Teleservices at the website www.teleservices.com. They are the authorized Qtek service center for my warranty. I emailed them to make sure they were in fact my service center. I even quoted the line in the warranty that says they are the service center. They responded and told me that they are a Dangaard Service Center only for the Qtek phones distributed by Dangaard and that my IMEI number is NOT a Dangaard phone. They admitted that was confusing because why would my warranty card give me their information if my phone's IMEI is not one of theirs. I was then asked if I had bought a refurbished phone that had had the motherboard replaced (because that would have changed the IMEI number). I called the shop I bought it from and they told me they only deal in new, not 2nd hand phones.
It seems that the majority of the Qtek sites are Brightpoint which is the other Qtek distributor besides Dangaard. This could pose a serious problem for many people who are finding that their IMEI numbers are not Brightpoint and they aren't Dangaard, then who? And why would the warranty cards give wrong information.
I have a feeling that my 2-year warranty is void.
Intresting story which I will follow but 1) Contact Qtek directly - see what they say 2) Your covered by 12 months min any way by law how ever you need to take that up with where you bought it and 3) There is always Trading Standards... but it sounds like its the supplier that has the problem not the shop where you bought it.... may be they have other more legal options they can bring to bear.

There isnt acutally any way to contact Qtek directly. Their websites are acutally fronts for either Dangaard or Brightpoint. Both of which are the service centres/distributors themselves.

Please post where you like (rapidshare,...), this dutch rom was installed on my device and now i need it to return to basics.
HTC should give people a backupcd, like when you buy a pc, you get oem Windows. I don't understand why i cannot find it online anywhere, they throw roms to your head at the carriers O2, T-Mobile,....
And totally no support, even no download when registered on HTC site
I think I have more support from XDA forum users than from the company i paid the HTC for... cannot wait till September for WM6 dutch (if not delayed as usual). 1 month without GSM & GPS is impossible.
i bricked mine the first time.
brought it back to the phone shop with the massage "it is broke"
they have repaired without any questions
no such service from your provider?
Slow repair service
Yes, i bricked it also first, rom number was original on startup screen, now it's the 3.7.0000. Received it repaired also without questions, but took 6 weeks, by then the WM6 dutch should be out

Hi there,
I did some searching a few days ago on here, and saw some people saying they had success with HTCGate for unlocking.
So I paid my money and gave them my IMEI and waited... and waited... and ... still waiting, not a peep from them, fired off an email yesterday but no reply.
My HD2 is currently locked to O2 UK, and i'm moving my SIM over to vodafone this week so really need to find somewhere *reliable* online who can unlock it quickly?
Any recommendations from people who've actually had it done?
Many thanks
I used www.unlockitnow.com to unlock my HD2. I was on T-Mobile.
Unlocked code delivered successfully in less than 8 hours.
ccristal
Thanks Ccristal,
Have no ordered one with them, and hopefully will have more luck than the awful service at htcgate.
Where did you buy your HD2 from? If you got it from O2 directly, request an unlocking code from them. It'll take up to 28 days, but is free.
Got my code overnight from www.unlockitnow.com much better than the jokers at htcgate, thanks Ccristal

Unlocking Touch pro 2
Hello I am trying to get my sprint TP2 to work on all US GSM services such as T-Mobile and ATT can anyone help me?
Erm, see above ^^ !?
Hi, I used HTCGATE.COM last night, paid at 6pm and was unlocked by 7pm.
The e-mails from them went into my hotmail junk-mail folder - maybe you want to check there? Hope it works out for you either way.
Over the last six weeks or so I have seen a lot of posts suggesting contacting O2 to get the HD2 'SIM unlocked' for free.
I was just wondering if anyone has actually received a code back from O2?
I applied via the online form on O2's website about six weeks ago and am still waiting for a code!
About a week ago I wrote to them asking why I haven't received my code yet (inluding the reference number I received back from them originally).
After about 3 days, they wrote back asking me for additional information (which I had already provided in the online form). I gave them this information and was told that they would submit my request to their Support Team IF I sent them another email requesting them to do it. But that it could take up to 28 days (ie ANOTHER 28 days!) for me to receive my code.
It looks to me as if O2 have no real intention of providing this code are are counting on the fact that most people will give up eventually...
Of course, if other members have received unlock codes back from O2, it could just be that I have been 'unlucky'. Hence my request for others to report back their experiences...

Thanks for that, Kai.
I have had the O2 SIM in my HD2 the whole time, so that's not the problem.
However, having read some of the posts on that thread, it struck me that I was never asked to provide my IMEI number!
They don't request it on the 'unlock form' and I'm pretty sure they didn't ask for it when I spoke to the guy on the phone about it.
I'm going to phone them tomorrow to chase them. No doubt they will tell me now that is the reason they could not provide a code!
Are you sure? If I remember correctly, you cannot submit the unlock request form without providing an IMEI number? (It's because of the issue that the HD2 supplies you with a 17 digit IMEI number when you type in *#06# - but the web form will only allow you to enter 15 digitis for the IMEI).
Are you sure you went to the correct place to request your unlock code? It can be found here:

I had my iPhone unlocked by them using that unlock request form. It took about 2 weeks before I got an SMS confirming it had been unlocked. The O2 SIM was in the phone the whole time.

That's definitely the form I used, Kai.
However, I'm not completely sure that I didn't provide the IMEI number. I just don't remember being asked to provide it. It WAS 6 weeks ago after all!
As you can see, it is not requested on the first page of the form, but maybe there was a 2nd page...
Anyway, I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what excuses they have to make.
I really just wanted to see if it was only me or whether everyone was having the same experience. So "Thank you" to everyone who has replied to say that it worked for them (Well, to you and _Belial, anyway...!)
Satayu Basu - htcgate.com Take care. I payed, I received one code but not working (Invalid unlock code). I am trying to contact them but no answer. So I've lost my 20$ and my vodafone Romania Leo is still locked
O2 dragging their feet on SIM unlock for HD2???
Update 18 Jan...
1. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - was told that system was down, please call back later!
2. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... was asked to wait while agent checked notes - agent cut me off!
3. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... agent cut me off as soon as I mentioned the word "unlatching" (O2's word for SIM unlocking)!
4. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... agent had never heard of 'unlatching'!... talked agent through the whole process... the best the agent could offer was to fill out another request form and advise me that it could take 'up to 28 days' before I receive my code!
It's a good job that a) I don't desperately need my phone unlocked and b) I know that sooner or later it will be available on this forum...
be patient. i received my unlock code off o2 eventually. was more than 28 days but i now have an unlocked HD2 which didn't cost a penny to do. as is mentioned make sure you edit and get the imei right. also it is emailed rather than text to you so make sure you get that right and don't stick a fake one down.
Thanks for that, Optiknerv.
It's interesting that you say you received your code via email as elsewhere I have heard it comes via SMS.
I did fill in my genuine email address on the form and I received a confirmation email to that address afterwards. However, what is interesting is that the third agent I spoke to quoted some email address I've never heard of ([email protected]) as the email address stored on the 'system'. This appears to be some internally generated address from O2 as the xxxxxxxxx is my name followed by about 6 digits! I haven'y got a clue as to how to access this account as it has nothing to do with my 'My O2' account!
I asked him to update my account with my correct address, just in case...
