Cannot sync email when phone is connected to computer through USB

I upgraded my firmware to 2.17 from 2.09 and now my phone cannot sync email while the USB is connected to my pc. Anyway to fix this?
I had this issue with the 2.09 and currently have it with 2.17. Sprint tech help was unaware of this issue (big shock). Does anyone know the answer?
EVDO While on USB
Do you loose all internet connectivity while docked? Have you checked this setting:
On the computer, open ActiveSync and navigate to: File -> Connection Settings..., make sure that "Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop" is checked.

i have the same issue, and the check to allow connections is turned on, at least in xp. I can't find the same option in vista.
I would assume that if I dropped a new ROM on my device I would need to configure a whole new ActiveSync profile. Unfortunately, from my own experience, ActiveSync is a B***H when it comes to having 2 sync profiles. I remember even uninstalling AS and trying to remove all references in Program Files and REG and it still thought I was syncing with the same device.
I would have to suggest something extreme. Installing AS on another PC and trying to sync or... reimage your PC and reinstall AS fresh.
I had the same issue, there is a thread on msn about this...

For me, turning on wifi on and then back off via the hard switch seems to fix the issue. Hope it helps.
try settings-connection-usb to pc- and uncheck Enable Advanced Network Functionality

Problem w/Active Sync after Internet Sharing

I am wondering if someone can help me. I am using the HTC Herald with WM 6.1 -- ITsPapaBlack 6.1v2 -- and trying to use internet sharing while connected to my laptop via USB. My laptops OS is Vista Pro. It connects but once I close out of internet sharing and then just try to connect and use active sync, it will not connect to my phone. I have tried resetting both the phone and the computer to see if that would fix the problem but the results stay the same. The only thing that fixes this is a hard reset. This is the second rom I have had this problem with. Anybody's input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Craig
not sure if it will work for you, but what worked for me (HTC touch pro, custom ROM PROven):
1. go to Settings on your HTC, Connections, USB-to-PC, select ActiveSync radiobutton, uncheck the "Ask me first about...." checkbox.
2. connect your phone using active sync.
3. disconnect (unplug)
4. go to that same settings again. Now select the other radiobutton (DiskDrive), AND check the "Ask me first..." checkbox.
When you now again connect your phone, it will (hopefully) ask what connection you want to make.
Otherwise, try changing the order of the above actions.
hope that helps.
I had the same problem with my Touch Diamond. Simply make sure you uncheck the box "Enable faster data synchronization" in the same settings as mentioned above.
Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC
(for WM6.5)

HELP! Can't establish ActiveSync Bluetooth Connection any more;AS Service disappeared

Something strange happened:
On my HD I've been in the BT settings menu in the "Device" Tab, and by accident i've selected the computer to which i normally connect for active sync via bt (which had been working so far). normally you should see the services provided by the device, which was "serial port" and "active sync". Suddenly, the "active sync" service disappeared from the list, and although i didn't click on the "save" button, the AS service didn't come back.
I've deleted the BT connection ("partnership") between PC and HD and tried to re-establish it several times, starting from both PC and HD, without success. I alway get a connection, but I only get the "serial port" service, and AS doesn't work. I've also set the correct com port given in the bluetooth device setup for "incoming connection" on the PC to AS on the PC... no success.
I've also re-installed my PC BT-drivers, but also without success. I just don't want to re-install AS, as the partnership to the HD is deleted then and I'm afraid that it messes up with my contacts and appointments...
Syncing via USB cable still works at least, but I'd really like to have back my bluetooth active sync service.
Any ideas?
regards jan
I had this problem as well. I tried all the suggestions I could find in the forums with no success. Finally I did a hard reset on the phone - that solved the problem... but then the problem appeared again a week later.
After tinkering quite a bit I finally found a solution: First I unpaired all my devices from the Touch HD. Then I went into the registry \\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth and removed the folders "activesync" and "serial".
After repairing my computer with the HD I got the activesync option back.

Internet Sharing appears when plug into USB via PC. [Solved]

Hi All,
I am currently having this problem, previously I am able to select the connection type when i plug in to PC via USB, asking if I wanna select Activesync, Disk drive, or Mobile broadband.
But since few days back i am no long prompt with the selection.(I could not really remember what i have done.) Now whenever i plug in, it will bring my direct to Internet sharing.
I have tried going to Start> settings> connections> USB to PC and check on the box Ask me first about USB connection type when i connect the device via PC.
I have disable and restart and renable it and restart again and tried it. But still it bring me direct to the internet sharing tab.
I have also restore my sprite backup to 2 months back and it still give me the same thing. I was wondering what went wrong. I am very tempted to give it a hard reset and solve the problem.
Is anyone out there able to help? Is there supposed to be any registry settings that I can set to get back the Selection prompt?
Edited> Solved. I played around with the registry and found it works. I do not know it this will work for others who having the same problem
I tried removing all the keys inside HKLM/software/HTC/usbtopcpopup (of cos i did a backup of the registry) and restart the device but then it don work.
so I import back the original registry and try again and it still don work.
I realised that There is a key inside the folder which name OnlyTwoChoice and the value was 0, So i set to 1 and restart and voila this time i have 2 choices. Sync and Disk drive.
I then try setting the value to 2 this time and voila i get back all my 3 options. Tried plugin to my pc and syncing is working fine.
By the way I am using the original rom. Hope the above information helps.

sounds like you accidently told it to remember your decision....
but thanks for the registry tip
Many thanks, I had this problem and after trying lots of different things I decided to hard reset. I'm keeping this on my list...
You have made my day. Setting the value "OnlyTwoChoice" to 2 fixed it - thanks!

Great to hear that......!!!
Problem still occurs for me even after changing the values in the registry, whenever I connect my device to my pc, it will automatically install the Windows Mobile-based Internet Sharing Device, instead going for ActiveSync, even though I picked ActiveSync off the menu.
The Disk Drive option works however. Any ideas?
Thanks much! It's saved me hours!

bluetooth issue

hi guys, i've got an issue with my bluetooth in that i can't receive files, i've tried from 2 different computers and a phone with no success. my windows box gives me an obex error code 0x49 if thats any help to anyone. i've got accept transfers ticked and the devices are paired. i can send files from the phone fine so the bluetooth is defiantly working.
Turn beam on.
Receive all incoming beams.
could you clarify a bit? i've got accept all connections turned on and don't see any beam options in the bluetooth app?
In sense settings, go to all settings. (Right softkey).
Open the bluetooth settings and open the 1st tab.
Expand the advanced settings.
Open the file transfer config and click allow "incoming file transfer connections"
I've not tested it though
I reconfigured the comm manager to run this app, called BtManager.exe. More useful than the wizard it normally runs.
i've already done all that, everything is enabled in the bluetooth settings app i just can't receive files, as i said before i can send to devices and connect via a2dp so i don't think it's a hardware issue so there must be a software problem somewhere?

same here, any one experienced it and solved the problem?
Long time no reply on this thread. I fixed the problem for my HD2. Maybe it help poeple to fix their receive files for their HD2 too.
In bluetooth advanced settings go to file transfer and uncheck safe files on your sd card, instead set the path to your sd card for receiving files. Click finish and test.
Thanks Guido, that worked for me!
