hallo. please other mac users, let me know your experience:
TyTN
ROM 1.18.258.2
ROM date 07/22/06
Ext ROM 1.18.258.105
Radio 1.03.03.10
Model Number HERM200
Missing Sync 2.5.1 and OSX 10.4.7 on Powerbook 17"
even if I completely uninstalled old Missing Sync apps in a very accurate way, deleting all Missing Sync files on the TyTN and re-installing 2.5.1 on the Mac, I still can't sync (it has synched just 1 time not completely). It starts, and after a few contacts Missing Sync crashes... any troubles for you?
Thank you,
no problem for me . Just a crash one time , need to reboot tytn and my macbook.
did you try to sync with the bluetooth ?
yes, it's impossible to sync via BT. is your device with same ROM as mine? I've also serial HT628xxx
I'm going crazy, the TyTN works great except for the sync... and for wififofum and wifitunes (even if wifitunes is excused: my itunes library is veeeeery large, 22000 songs)
could the device be defective, even if it works perfectly?
I'm really struggling to sync my device using activesync (I just can't seem to get connected).
I'm currently using Yahoo! Go! Mobile for calendar pim and address syncing (absolutely brilliant), and installing applications from CAB files on the memory card (luckily I had installed total commander while activesync seemed to be working.
Will probably try setting it up on another computer, but I prefer syncing to yahoo than using outlook, and most of the need is removed with this application.

I am using Missing Sync 2.5.1 on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.4.7.
My TYTN syncs Contacts, Calander, and Time successfully over bluetooth. I haven't tried syncing any other way.
My TYTN is serial HT627... using the latest iMate ROM.
serial HT630 ...
rom 1.18.256.2
radio 1.03.03.10
is it possible that the TyTN works perfectly, the Mac works perfectly, and the devices can't sync neither with USB nor BT? The only problem seems Missing Sync that crashes
the best for you it' s to try with another mac if you can .
nothing, nor with my G5... on the device, under "settings" -> i find an app called "USB to PC", where is possible to select a check box that in english could sounds like "active advanced net functions"... does it need to be checked?
why my tytn is absolutely invisible by bluetooth? i paired the devices without problems, but missing sync doesn't find the tytn...

Did you try pairing from the TYTN device only?
I have heard and seen issues when pairing the devices from within OS X.
My advice; unpair them and them pair them again using the TYTN to discover the MAC.
done that procedure with BT, also followed the terminal procedure suggested my markspace on their support pages. nothing, i can pair the mac but it don't sync. the only difference is that appears the transparent window that indicates a BT connection, but it fails cause missing sync don't connect to the device... i also tried "usb switch" to switch to serial mode. nothing... i sent tenth of emails to markspace with logs and
problem description but they don't contact me...
i changed devicce, it was serial 628... everything was amazingly perfect but... the connection. it seems it was an hardware problem. the new one 630 sync correctly except for the ical events, I've a "null" event and another "unknown event" that causes problems. i can't find them in ical, so do you have any idea on how to eliminate this issue? thanks,

Hi,
I'm trying to use my XDA2 to provide Internet Access (GPRS) via BT to my portable PC.
I'm using my PCs built-in Bluetooth-module (running on WIDCOMM 1.4.1 Build 6)
I have no problem synchronizing my XDA2 with Outlook using BT (since this is a connection initiated by the XDA2) but if I "browse" the services on my XDA2 from my PC I only get OBEX Object Push.
I know from previous occations that you should be able to see Serial Ports etc.
My XDA2 is running on the following version:
R: 1.06.01
G: 1337.16
D: 1.60.00WWE
And Pocket Bluetooth Tools
Can anyone tell me what to look for?
Thanx in advance
Frank.
You can try using the XDA II in the wireless modem mode... See your program files for this application. Works for me.
There's your problem... You need to uninstall Pocket Bluetooth Tools; it removes your SSA service (which you need for BT Wireless Modem)
Hmm I also do use the Bluetooth Tools so I doubt you need to remove this very handy app. ?
Hi.
Well, I had to hard-reset my PDA in order to remove Pocket Bluetooth Tools (PBT), so I don't know if it was the hard-reset or PBT that did the works, but now I get the SSA profile and can connect to it without any problems.
Unfortunatly I lost the option to sync my PDA via Bluetooth, since Active Sync cant find any ports. So I'll give PBT another try, otherwise I'll just use the FIR-port to sync.
Thank you for your help. I'll let you know how things work out, when I re-install PBT.
Best regard,
Frank.
What ROM you running? With the 1.72, you have the options of enablign outgoing and incoming COM ports in the settings menu (Start --> Settings --> Bluetooth Settings)
Before installing Bluetooth Tools, I've got: Serial, SSA, Object Push, and one more.
After installing: I've only got Serial and the other one that I cannot remember.
--------------------------
For me, it was the Bluetooth Tools that was holding me back. I've emailed the author to see whether he can add the SSA port.
Update:
Well, first of all, I was thrilled to find out that I no longer have to start the Wireless Modem-app to use the GPRS-connection on my laptop. Apperantly a modem-emulator runs in the background, so my XDA2 stays fully functional while its forwarding GPRS traffic. (Though I think it's strange that theres no indication what-so-ever that the GPRS is in use - normally you get a different icon at the antenna)
Anyways, I installed the latest version af Pocket Bluetooth Tools (PBT). And the SSA-profile was still there and working. Then I paired my laptop using the ActiveSync profile in PBT - and wupti: Both the GPRS "dial-through"/SSA and ActiveSync is working - at the same time.
Now, all thats left is to pair it with my BT GPS receiver. Can't do it at moment since it's at home - I don't expect any problems with it though. Usually works without problems.
Thank you again for your input.
Frank.
hmm... that's awesome. I'll install Pocket Bluetooth again and see whether it works.
Can you answer these:
1. Which ROM you using (ie. O2 1.60)
2. Which version of Pocket Bluetooth Tools? 1.1.0.0?
Thanks... That's awesome news though. I love how it turns the Bluetooth on and off automatically.
WeatherB:
I'm using ROM 1.60.00WWE (QTek) and the latest version of PBT (1.1.0.0)
It works like a dream
I guess it's possible that Pocket Bluetooth is conflicting with 1.72
I know for a fact, that ver. 1.1.0.0 is conflicting with 1.72 - my friend tried to use this.
He then installed a previous version of PBT, but still can't see the SSA-profile, but the ActiveSync profile now works.
He will try to uninstall PBT and see if the SSA appears.
oh okay... I might have to downgrade to 1.60...
What's the main difference between 1.60 and 1.72?
WeatherB:
I just talked to my friend again. Seems I misunderstood him the first time. The reason he uses an older version of PBT is that with the new version his headset-profile is not supported.
Apparantly the biggest advantage of the 1.70 is the improved battery lifetime. He says he only charges his battery twice as often now. I'm sure there are other improvements - I just can't find 'em in the Upgrade 'n Modifying-forum right now.
I did the downgrade to 1.60 last night and I noticed something weird about PBT... After bonding with a device, you need to leave that last screen (the one that PBT created) unchecked and all will work fine.
Not sure if I tried this workaround with 1.72; but non-the-less, seems to be working. I did however lose the Audio Gateway after installing PBT. But no biggie, don't want to listen use my PDA as an audio gateway for my PC.
WeatherB:
Hmm. I checked the Active Sync-box, otherwise I couldn't connect via Active Sync over BT, since it wasn't in the menu.
But I don't remember if I paired it from the PDA or the PC. But everything works - also the GPS - so I guess it's simply a question on fidling with it.
Exactly... I'll play with it and see how to get the most out of it without messing it up.
The following should give users an idea what they are in for if they decide to take the plunge...
It happened again. Out of the blue, my XDAII froze, then turned itself off. I closed my eyes and there it was, this terrible electric 'bling bling' sound. I didn't have to open my eyes to confirm that another hardreset had just happened on my XDAII. No particular reason. As if my XDA wanted to tease me, it had just decided to clear everything in its memory, all installed programs. And now? installing everything again? when there was no insurance that it wouldn't hardreset itself again?
No, I said to myself, not this time. I opened the file explorer on my PC and did what I thought I would never do: I started the upgrade to install Magneto or better known as Windows Mobile 2005 on my XDAII.
When I downloaded the Magneto files, I thought to myself that I would just keep them for storing. You never know. One hardreset later and suddenly Magneto sounded like a godsent to me.
The upgrade went smooth, very smooth in fact. Before the upgrade I deleted the extended rom files and storage files. Maybe that helped.
All OK? Not quite. I could not connect to my PC and activesync via USB. Everything worked well via Bluetooth, but USB? No chance. I found out that it had something to do with XP and not having the servicepack 2 installed. Well, no choice. Goodbye USB sync. I could live with that since I still had bluetooth.
Once I had Magneto running, I started installing my standard programs. Most of them worked. The only one that did not was WorldMatePro. OK, I tried to live without it.
I installed most of the programs into Storage. They all worked. I even tried to install some of them into Buzz' RAM disk. A few worked as well, some couldn't be installed there. Well, I anyway planned to use the RAm disk for storage.
I was actually surprised that XCPU_Scalar worked. Well, even Magneto is now overclocked to 530 MHZ on my XDAII.
I also installed PocketZenPhone and Pocketbreeze. Somewhere I had read that these programs would not run on Magneto. But no issues on my machine! They both worked. The only issue I have with Pocketbreeze is that the category icons & colors are gone. Pocketweather also worked fine. Again, I was surprised that Magneto was so compatible.
Unfortunately, PocketContacts was a dead-end. "No contacts found" was the only message I ever got from it. Goodbye PocketContacts.
I had a few more programs in my folder on the PC, but the memory on my XDAII with Magneto is limited. Very limited. Very very limited in fact. But for me not such a big issue as I do not have too much necessary software on my XDA. I could live with this limitation for time being.
Anyway, I wanted to try Magneto for a week and see if I stayed with my new friend.
After I made the first few phone calls with Magneto I was impressed with the dialer. Nice interface. Also, it seems to me that the phone connects much quicker to the provider than before.
But why didn't they include something like the intellidialer? Well, the new contacts application is quite nice, so I will use the contacts instead. Not too bad.
Then, on day three, the disaster. Suddenly, the screen stopped reacting. Well, it actually didn't stop, it just didn't react to the places where I touched it with the pen.
I was already thinking about "hardreset", when it came to me that the screen orientation was wrong.
I had installed Vitobuttonmapper and mapped <rotate screen> to the record button as press and <start bluetooth> as press & hold. I figured out that I must have pressed the record button not long enough, therefore the <rotate screen> command was executed. But somehow, the screen orientation remained in Portrait but the touch screen was now in landscape.
I managed to fix this problem by changing back to Portrait and making a softreset. Then I tried to repeat this error. Yepp, the <rotate screen> was the culprit.
Consequently, my Magneto has no screen rotation anymore. But I can also live with this.
The rest of the week went fine. Magneto is stable and smooth.
Now the final question: Will I stay with Magneto? Yes, I will. I am often travelling and therefore I need a device that I can rely on. If I'm on the road and my XDA hardresets, I'm dead. Therefore Magneto is the solution for me. No hardresets, and even if the battery goes dead, I'm safe.
But one thing is clear to me. When the first Magneto devices come out, and hopefully there will be the Magician with Magneto, I will immediately retire my XDAII and buy one of these devices. Magneto is the future. No doubt about it.
What do I like the most about it besides the "goodbye hardresets"? for sure the softbuttons. Just great!
I hope this was useful.
Cheers
Pat
Hmmm.... Interesting.... Very, very interesting!!!!
I think I'll try Magneto real soon... However, I have a question: Is it possible to return to 2.06.00WWE just in case?
Thanks for such detailed story!

I have the same problem. But let me just say that I have 2 harddrives on my PC. Both with Win XP + SP2. I tried to synch Magneto on the harddrive I frequently use but it DOESN'T work... So I tried booting my 2nd harddrive. This 2nd harddrive has a fresh installation of Win XP + SP2 and other essential utilities like Office suite, WinZIP, etc.
And guess what...activesync 4.0 using USB WORKED using my 2nd harddrive. Very ODD...

YES it is possible to return to 2.06.00WWE...I have done exactly that.
I have been running Magneto for about 1.5 weeks. And I must say it's GREAT! But as you know it's just a leaked version so it has a LOT of bugs. So I've decided to go back to 2.06.00WWE until Magneto is more stable/reliable.
How to configure Connect via bluetooth ?
I done the WM2005 installation and i manage to connect via USB with everthing sync. But i like to know how you can setup the activesyc via bluetooth ? I own a Level One bluetooth dongle and i did try to connect via bluetooth in WM2003 before i upgrade to SE. Now in Wm 2005, i still have no luck to get it work. Help !!!
I m using Windows 2003 and had configure Comm 5 in ActiveSync 4.0, added bluetooth serial port 5 in widcomm drivers. And also i pair my XDA2 with my machine several time to make sure it is paired. I try everthing include try to do file transfer from my deskop also no luck.
Btw, i can't discover any ActiveSync service in "My Bluetooth Places", i can only see "Dial up networking, Push Object". I do c actvesync in WM 2003.
Everytime i choose "Connect Via Bluetooth", will get this message "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Would you like to set up a patnership now ?" Yes/No button. But i had done the pairing before that ?
please help.
Change "Secure Connection" to "Not Required"?
Works for me, without Magneto (yet)

p.s. magneto rulez! tnx buzz!
I've got the same problems with activesync via Bluetooth. My device doesn't seem to recognise the Activesync service on my Sitecom Bluetooth device.
With 2003SE I didn't have any problems. Madkat's proposal didn't work.
Update to WM5
You are lucky, I was tryed whole last night but fail, it always give me the message "Error 101 - Connection error". USB connection is very good, I could do everything with cable

Re: How to configure Connect via bluetooth ?
Thanks everyone for the solution. I had to revert back to 2003SE by Xdajojo version, because 2005 did not connect with usb or bluetooth adapter. activesync 4.0 does not seem to work properly on my device (O2 XDA2). I changed back to activesync 3.8 and worked properly with 2003SE. I can even go on internet using activesync. Also I have TOMTOM 3.0 Bluetooth version wich did not install on 2005. I will wait until proper stabilised version of 2005 is released by xda-developers team.
Hi fellas,
Was wondering if you guys are able to install applications on your Universal via AS (activesync) over BT.
I have a Billionton BT Dongle and was able to install applications earlier on my PDA2k but for some odd reason, am unable to do so on the Universal (i have a Jasjar). The installation process begins on my desktop but halfway through i get a message saying that it cannot connect to the device and i should reconnect the device and begin installation again. This happens inspite of the fact that AS is running fine and i am even able to sync without reconnecting as it asks me to.
What do you guys suppose the problem is?
Cheers.
Get the latest active sinc. (microsoft just came out with one a week ago) then turn off all your firewalls. It should work no problem
I don't mean to hi-jack your thread, but I too have a similar question about BT.
Is it possible to transfer files like MP3 music without active sync using BT?
Yes you can transfer files from PDA to PDA (mp3's, pictures, contacts, notes, ect..) I do that a lot between my fiance's treo and my Jasjar
Hi
I have no problem with install or transfer file from my desktop to my Xda Exec.
The Activesync that I use is version 4.1 the very latest and to transfer files I use the Window Explorer.

hey all, i'm having some difficulties getting my jam to sync with active sync! both laptop and jam have bluetooth and can see each other but the problem is everytime i click sync via bluetooth my jam does nothing!
i've download both bluetooth patches on this foru and neither have helped?!
can anyone help or at least tell me where im going wrong
thanks in advance!
You should try downloading Pocket bluetooth Tools version 1.0.1.2.
Install this program on your jam. After that you should see to it that the comport active sync wants to use is free (set the port in active sync/connection settings). Remove all pairs. Pair again using your jam to find the laptop. After filling in the passwords for pairing a screen should pop up on your jam with a few profiles, there you should select Active Sync, and it will work hopefully. It is possible that I have made a mistake since it has been a long time since I've done this. Goodluck!
If you don't explain the actions you have taken in your attempts to sync your
device via bluetooth, only a psychic wil be able to tell you where you went wrong.
But have a look at the following link, it might be of help to you since the Active sync BT settings are everything but intuitive:

I found 'bluetooth com port' in this forum & it helps in doing Sync via BT. Do a search. I'll suggest you to read the manual. if you don't have 1 search in www.seeo2.com or from your phone manufacturer site. I'll read the FAQ or Knowledge base before seeking for help in the event i don't understand the 'manual/FAQ'
Hi Members,
I have just joined the site and this is my first post to try and find a solution to the most annoying frustrating problem im having. I am trying to connect a o2 XDA Mini to my laptop via bluetooth over a belkin dongle. My system only shows com port 4 then 9 12 etc. I have tried using 4 many times. Both the phone and the pc partner ok, but then when i try to sync from the handset the PDA try's to partnet again and will not connect. I have tried other ports, no good! same result. I then searched google extensivly and tried installing other stacks Widcomm, blue soleil etc as i aslo have cards and dongles for those, still no joy. Is the phone broken? Well my wife has the same make and model. Her one wouldnt connect either!! whats the problem with this phone/PDA. Do you have to be a rocket scientist to use BT or what. I visited other sites and forums and posed the question there. Apart from one reply it appears no one seems to know either way. Any help or guides other than the outdates geekzone(2004) would be most appreciated as i think those guides were not created for WM5 systems lol
Thank you and fingers crossed lol

I've always had problems syncing over bluetooth.
I dont have a WM2005 device, but my XDA mini exhibits the same problems.
I did get my xda to sync through bluetooth on my windows computer, but that was using bluesoeil. Strange thing was, after i switched stacks to the normal windows one, when i successfully sync'ed through bluesoeil, it WORKED!!
A hard reset has happened since then and im plagued with problems.
If you use a mac and a PC like me, i found it very easy to sync my xda mini through bluetooth with a mac. (provided you have buy the software).
If you search even harder through google, theres a page i came across which shows you, through windows cmd line, delete ports and free some up. Havent tried it tho.
Anyways goodluck, try hard resetting and starting fresh if you wanna sync wirelessly that bad.
Try this
Try this , it may work for you. Also I found that XP SP2 is needed if you wnt to sync via BT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=246847
Good luck
Ciao
works perfectly for me using different versions of vidcomm on the belkin and logitech dongles i have on various computers
on the pda i just choose the IMSync or whatever it's called as profile
and start activesync on the pda click on sync over bluetooth and it does
Heres something i found...
http://help.lockergnome.com/general/Activesync-Port-Availability-Bluetooth-ftopict26563.html
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315539
thats how to delete ghost ports from your system.
I got everything NEARLY set up, i cant set a outgoing port!.
I even hard reseted, still no luck, i think i just need to set a outgoing port to get this to work.
whitemoo.
ok...after restoring my backup from the hard reset, i rebooted the phone.
Then i got side tracked and went on the XDA-developers wiki.
Seeing that 'set up your own bluetooth personal network' article, i decided to set it up.
Figuring out that the original bluetooth stack is worthless, i switched to bluesoeil and rebooted.
Bluesoeil did not work for some reason, and couldnt find my bluetooth hardware, so rebooted the phone with the normal stack.
I went into the normal stack that came with my phone, and mysteriously, i could set outgoing ports!
I set the port my outgoing port to comm0 and tried to sync.
AND IT WORKED!!...its finally syncing!
Oh btw, i found this file in my ext rom: called 'default_BT_com_port0.cab' i installed it and it allowed me to set comm0 in the normal staCK. Previously before i installed that cab, i couldnt see ANY avalible com ports to set.
YAY!...whitemoo.
Hi
Thanks for the advise there it was appreciated. I have tried the different bluetooth devices two doggles and a card all with widcomm and microsoft drivers all have not worked blue soleil wouldnt find a serial port on my phone only dUN and Push obex. I have spent ages on this now i figured it just a worhless wm5 smartphone with a keboard.. oh MS if your listening re XDA Mini factor it in to the guidebook how to sync to an everyday computer to bluetooth. You provide the function but it dont work.. crapper ive had it with this overated smartphone with a slide out keyboard. worse thing is how much i paid for it. what a rip off!! I could get an old C500 WM2003 to BT sync on all three of these BT dongle/card.
Oh well thx.. Guys glad you got a result with yours bravo' lol
Many thanks for the input.

Hi again,
I have tried to contact o2 re this matter they tell me it cant be done via activesync and bluetooth. Has any one else managed to sync an XDA min via activesync to there computer. I am running xp pro SP2, Activesync Ver. 4.1 of the cover disc with the phone. I downloaded 4.2 and 4.5Beta to make sure none work. Google searches reveal nothin g on the subject. The model i appear to have is the WIZA200 version with WM5 rom version 5.1.195 (build 14847.2.0.0).
Any clues folks
thanks.

Can anyone help me please with this problem?
Thanks.
