Bluetooth Stereo Headset AND Bluetooth GPS - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hello!
I´ve just finished upgrading my XDA mini to the german TMobile ROM-Version 1.13(with BlackBerry Extensions) and i´ve installed the Bluetooth Patch from this Forum. Now i want to use my new Moto HT820 Bluetooth Stereo Headset in combination with my Bluetooth GPS Reciever. If i use each device on it´s own there are no Problems, but if i use them TOGETHER none of them works....
Can anybody help...?
Thanks,
Thomas

Same problem here, Parrot CK3100 and a GPS. When on the phone, quality of conversation is not 100%, also GPS falls behind.
Any solutions? Perhaps another BT stack ? Or maybe PocketBT Tools is the solution?

Same problem Here!
GPS is working, Bleutooth Heatset too but not in the same time...
Tomtom5.21
Holux 230
motorola H500
Magician 1.12
Thanks for ur help

same problem here, parrot ck 3100 sounds bad when navigating with tomtom gps. i guess the different BT signals get in eachother's way ....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that Bluetooth will only work with one device at a time due to the fact it creates an exclusive pairing session each time it connects.

Please Help US!!!!!!!
No one seams to be interested to help US!!!
Problem to use GPS and headset at the same Time!!!
Please help!!!
Thanking you in advance

maybe no one has the same problem anyways ... when i navigate with tomtom the parrot still sounds like crap, when i turn the bleutooth gps reciever off it sound good .. anybody?

i am considering buying a bluetooth headset but....any luck by now with using BT headset and BT gps at the same time?
or is it just not possible with this phone?

havent tried this since i got my BT headphones but i wouldnt think it is possible given i cant run headphones and use some heavy applications too sucessfully.
plus im sure tomtom and streaming would both want to use similar ports

anyone else knows if it is possible to use bluetooth headset and gps at the same time?
And does the voice from tomtom come through the headset or not?
(i prefer not)

it works for me
I'm using xda mini with plantronics 320 bluetooth headset, a noname gps receiver and igo europe as navigation software. Of course they work one at the time so when the phone rings gps connection is lost but when I finish the call gps connection is restored. The sound of the headset is the same when i'm not in range of gps receiver.
I did a big mistake when I installed a different bluetooth stack hoping that it might help(ROM 1.12.00WWE). I was wrong. I had to hard reset the phone and since then everything is just fine (about 2 months).

ok i finally got around to testing this, im using tomtom 6 with the maps located on my storage card. also using some mp3 i had on my storage card.
started music streaming to bluetooth HT820 headset, running ok. started tomtom up paused into tomtom splash screen (i thought oh ho this aint going to work too good) sure enough once the tomtom maps kicked in the gps and the headset stopped working (tomtom froze up).
as far as i could tell it wasnt that they wouldnt both run but they was both working from storage card and needed a high level of access to do it.
so in a nutshell i dont think this would be possible, this is using a 400 htz cpu and 128 memory

Bluetooth car kit

Hi chaps,
Ive got a brand new XDA2 2 weeks ago and I bought a Bluetooth GPS receiver from these guys:
http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI...ex_gensales&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50
Works perfectly without patching, hotwiring or standing on my head - NICE 1!
My question is, can anyone recommend an incar bluetooth handsfree kit rather than headset that works with the xda2???
And is it true that I can run 2 bluetooth devices at the same time if I patch my xda with the now world famous bluetooth patch featured on this forum?
Thanks guys...
Darren
I am running tomtom 2 with the 2.09 gps driver and also a bluetooth headset at the same time without any patch.
ahhhhhh....
so you *can* run more than one device now *without* patching hhhmmmm.... ahhhh... cool, what model is your headset? I really want a bluetooth car kit which detects the phone and takes control when i get into the car but it'll be good to know a headset that definatly works.
Thanks man
I have a sony-ericsson hbh-200 which works ok but only for answering the phone, also it needed rebonding many times. I am now using a Skypower EZ232 ez clip which works the same but re-connects after going out of range, I am as I type, linked via activesync over bluetooth to my pc, I have internet working on the xda2, my bluetooth headset is also working and I also have tomtom2 working using gpsmart gps bluetooth receiver, so more than one device is definitely ok without any patches.
top BT Carkit: Parrot CK2000 or later
I use these fix built in BT-carkit. it makes a good word with the htcII
nice one
Thanks guys.......
Darren
Nokia CK 1-W doesn't work
I've tried the Nokia CK 1-W carkit, but this carkit doesn't work properly with the MDA II. Nokia only supports the handsfree profile and the MDA II is only supporting the headset profile.
The headset profile has got less features than the handsfree profile. I know that Sony Ericsson and Parrot supports both profiles. When you want to have supported all handsfree features by your carkit you need the handsfree profile!
Does anybody knows an update to fix this problem?

Best setup for using both a carkit and GPS Nvigation?!

I am soon to buy the Magician in one of it's many forms. However noe thing i have been woundering is how am i am going to achieve the in-car setup i desire. Basically I need both a carkit (conversation through car stereo speakers etc) and i also want to run GPS navigation on the Magician. First of all is this possible? What happens if i am using the GPS and i recieve a call? Also what hardware are people using to achieve this as i assume i can't use both a bluetooth carkit and a bluetooth GPS reciever?! any hlp is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi Tom,
I've got an iMate Jam & recently installed a Parrot BTluetooth CK3300 GPS Car Kit into my 1999 RAV4. The installation was pretty straight forward for cars with ISO connection, simply put in the mic, GPS ant & control display, plug into the car harness & HiFi & off you go. The GPS part of the kit is simply & effective, I use Tom Tom Navigator 5 & it's pretty faultless, obtaining a fix in seconds. Here's the bad part, the call quality through the kit using the Jam is AWFUL. Making and receiving calls is accompanied by a loud, high pitched warbling sound which eventually subsides, but is replaced by so much interference that the call is unworkable. I know it's not the kit because my wife's SE T68i works flawlessly. Everything else about the setup works perfectly (pairing muting, upgrading via BT etc etc). This a MAJOR problem which I have sent on to Parrot & am waiting for a reply. I understand they are pretty good at customer enquiries and expect them to come back to me pretty soon. I'll post again when I hear something. Despite all the bad press the Jam gets I think it's the best one I've owned so far (I'm on my 5th) and with the right software is excellent, but the choice of car kit is essential, until these problems are ironed out I wouldn't recommend using the PDA with a BT carkit.
Apart from the poor audio, how does it work when you are being navigated by TomTom and you receive a call? Does TomTom stop talking to you? Does the display show who's calling and then go back to tomtom display etc?
Hi there,
I have a MDA compact with now the QTEK 1.12 ROM, I have a bluetooth GPS Fortuna Clip-on and a Mr Handsfree Genius Bluetooth Carkit and I love it.
As soon as I start my car, there is a bluetooth connection to the carkit and the sound quality is excellent. You can make a call without getting the MDA out of your pocket, just push the button. The only issue is voice dialing, but that is a common problem for the MDA.
Also it makes a bluetooth connection to the GPS and Tomtom works fine. The only minus is that Tomtom doesn't use the carkit speaker, but, since the speaker of the MDA is loud enough, that is no issue. There is no supply with this bluetooth carkit, so I bought a 12 --> 5 Volt converter for the MDA.
I really love this combination. The best thing, that happened to me.

so it is possible then to have two bluetooth connections running at the same time? ie. i can use a bluetooth GPS reciever such as the one that is supplied with tom tom and also use any bluetooth carkit at the same time? and this will not cause any problems even if i am making a call and have the GPS running?! If so then i will probably just buy the Tom Tom 5 bluetooth kit and get something like a parrot CK3000? would this setup work?
thanks for everyones help,
Tom
It should work. Mine does. See above. Bluetooth GPS uses a serial profile, bluetooth headset uses a headset profile. No problem to use them both at the same time.
Andre
I used my Jam as phone, mp3 player and GPS all at the same time.
1. MP3 thru my car's aux input
2. GPS thru aux input:
hardware: Tomtom BT receiver
Software: Routis 2, TomTom USA 2004 (can open both if U use GPSGate)
3. Phone thru BT headset or aux input
To answer yr question:
Since I can use both BT GPS and BT headset together. I don't think it's a problem for both BT carkit and BT GPS to works.
Phone call always get highest prioity, all other apps (GPS software, mp3 player) will be mute until U finished yr call.
Phone call is not a problem (see above) but dialing is a big trouble since no voice calling built-in. Third partner software like intellidialer and voice commander (from MS or Cyberon) helps a bit
Ive also got my jam working fine incar. I use a socket bluetooth gps unit http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119717 with tomtom 5 then I have a SE HBH-600 Akono Bluetooth Headset for calls both work together! When I have a incoming call it mutes tomtom and displays the normal caller id app on top, answering the call (via the green hardware button) results in my jam going to the phone app totally and leaving tomtom minimized in the background. As soon as the call ends tomtom jumps back to the foreground, it all works very well in my opinion. Ive also assigned the camera button to switch me back to the today screen so I can launch any app (with tomtom still running in the background) via a icon.

Bluetooth headset and GPS

Hi all,
Just a quick (and probably stupid) question. I have the O2 mini and find the loudspeaker rather poor. When using the GPS it is often hard to hear the instructions. Is it possible to send the audio to a bluetooth headset, or even a bluetooth car kit.
I am new to all this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Adam
Adam,
if you are connecting the GPS via BT, it is not possible in the first place to connect a second device in parallel. Unfortunately you can have just one BT connection at a time.
Even with a cable connected GPS it won't work, because it is not possible to use the BT handset as a audio device.
So, no, what you are trying to do is most probable not possible. I am doing it like that, that I use a BT GPS receiver and a cable headset if I do not understand the voices correctly. This way, you get the instructions and you can even make a call without using the loudspeaker.

Thanks for the advice marco. Much appreciated. Will just have to stick with the cable headset.
Bluetooth and GPS and Headset can work
Have to disagree with Marco99. I use a Navman 4420 Bluetooth GPS unit and an O2 Bluetooth headset with my I-mate PDA2K (1.40 ROM 1.12 Radio). I use Destinator Software (The Navman SmartST is better at finding the optimum route, but it is buggy and always seems to need upgrading to use the latest ROM).
Anyway, I frequently have both devices paired.
Last weekend coming back from SA to Vic I had the Destinator humming along, and a phone call comes in. The phone screen pops up and I answer the phone using the headset button. I minimise the phone screen, and the Destinator screen re-emerges, still tracking nicely along the Glenelg Highway. You lose the Destinator voice prompts during the phone call, but not the GPS signals, nor the visual prompts.
After hanging up, again using the headset button, the Destinator voice prompts start again and away you go.
I have the HQ audio patch and a HP BT Headset. I must try that sometime with the Destinator. However, I do agree that you can't listen to the navigation software through the headset and answer the phone, only one audio connection can be made via Bluetooth.
Now, if they can fix the "Line of Sight only" B/T headset bug...
Can do BT GPS + Headset at the same time
Just to confirm, I have had my Tomtom v5 Bluetooth GPS & my cheap-n-cheerful "Abe" Bluetooth headset working concurrently. Tomtom mutes when the phone receives/makes a call, but otherwise all is working together 100%, you can make & receive phone calls OK.
Can also confirm this works with non-Tomtom BT GPS (Globalsat model).

Tomtom5 & BT headset
No Stefan, Tomtom displays a "Mute" icon, so no sounds come from it. Only the voice call is transmitted to the headset

I have to agree with camstech! I was not aware that this really is working, did not believe it and just tried it. And it works exactly as described. So, one new thing learned. As the protocol does not explain the behavior, it looks like the (otherwise crappy) bluetooth stack is quite inteligent here, and switches between different devices, so it looks both work in parallel. So, during my next roadtrip I can bring along my BT headset!
Anyway, unfortunately that does not solve your problem, Adam, as it is not possible to redirect the Navigation voice to your bluetooth headset, as long as the device (BT stack) does not support the appropriate BT profile.
regards
marco
EDIT: just checked the wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth. I must have dreamt about the single point connection with BT. Looks like a BT net (called piconet) can contain up to 8 devices, where one is working as master with up to 7 slaves. The details can be found in wikipedia. Maybe there is just connection per profile but I dont know for sure. Maybe there is a bluetooth expert here in the forum that could enlighten us. And possibly maybe, this is way to technical and all of you guys fall asleep during the first pragraph of my posting anyway ...

Trouble on Hermes 200 (SFR1605), BT headset and BT359 GPS receiver.

Hi all,
I just bought a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 stereo headset, which worked very well in the shop (handsfree functions and music from WMP).
I use Tomtom V6 and a Globalsat BT359W receiver. Tomtom works very well with the BT359 and the original Tytn headset. The SE HBH-DS970 works very (very) well alone, but when I want to use Tomtom, SE HBH-DS970 and BT359 all together I got a sound chopped and unusable, even from WMP. If I power off (for tests purpose) the BT359, the sound goes back very well. I make a lot of tests: remove BT headset and coupling back, remove BT359 and coupling again, soft reset... and sometimes, it works perfectly. Yesterday I reinstalled Tomtom from scratch and it ran OK, I started more than 10 times and it worked, I believed the trouble was fixed, but this morning, after powering on the device, it was back. I am unable to find how it becomes working because it seems to be aleatory.
Does somebody know this trouble ? Could somebody help me to fix this trouble ?
Thank you very much.
I have the same problem with Garmin Mobile 10 GPS and R35 bluetooth clip. As soon as I start using GPS I my sound through R35 gets choppy. Is it about how the bluetooth stack is implemented in the Hermes?

I don't know, it seems that what we hear in the headset is the polling of the GPS receiver. It could be from the MS BT stack or from the BT driver in Tomtom (or Garmin), but I am not enough expert in PPC to diagnose properly. I am impatient to be able to install Widcomm stack on my Tytn, but it is not ready.

again... BLUETOOTH ISSUES

hello everyone!
i just got my first bt headset, its an anycom aris21.
the pairing with my blueangel worked like a charm, but after a day of useage, i noticed several issues i kinda dislike....
- i can not start a call (start phone) with my headset, when blueangel is not in PHONE menu! is this normal? can this be changed?
- how can i disable the phone's speaker (and mic), when using the headset? its pretty anoying to know, that the caller could be heard by bystanders...
- people seem to have problems hearing me! can i change the microfone volume of the bluetooth headset on the ba?
- how can i find out what BT stack i have?
- i have now helmi_c's WM06 installed, no changes to bluetooth made.
what recommended changes/updates/patches/... should i try for better performance?!
what to install for best results?!? is that BroadcomBT1.7 still the way to go? what cabs do I need?!
i know, that some issues have already been adressed, but things are changing so fast here, that i have problems being up to date about all issues! so forgive my ignorance and please help me!
i would be very thankful!!!

krz
Yeh, the Blue Angel is a bit strange with some bluetooth devices.
I have the following issues with WM6 on my BA, which did not exist with 2003SE:
1) When Bluetooth is active, the device turns on by itself every minute or so. I understand that this is a hacked "feature" to prevent the bluetooth from turning itself off. This is probably the most annoying thing about WM5/WM6. Is there any fix I am not aware of?
2) When I start from scratch and pair my carkit (Parrot), everything works OK, except that BA's sound putput, i.e. for Microsoft Voice Command, is coming from the BA instead of the car kit. This is too low a volume, to be clearly understandable in a car. With my Universal (also on WM6) this does not happen.
3) After pairing my Asus GPS, nothing works. If I delete all paired devices and just pair my Asus without being in range of the car kit, it will work. If both devices are turned on (car kit and GPS Receiver), none works properly.
I don't use my BA on a regular basis anymore, because I have my Universal, which works flawless. However, I see no paint in upgrading to WM5/WM6 if one ends up with LESS functionality than the original 2003SE.
The only feature I will be missing is the fact that no RAM memory is used, which means one does not loose everything when the battery drains.
Are there any tips to solve these three problems?
The WLAN "bug" is not really a problem: even with 2003SE I had to occasionaly start and restart the WLAN for it to work properly.
Cheers,
vma
@vma:
1. Well, not at the moment; maybe if someone who can play with the dll's can fix this.
2. I use a Logitech hands-free, and i have no problems.
3. No problem here using a NoBrand BT GPS receiver and the hands-free in the same time.
Overall, my BA work much better on WM6; its just my experience.
problems i still have:

- how can i disable the phone's speaker (and mic), when using the headset? its pretty anoying to know, that the caller could be heard by bystanders...
- how can i find out what BT stack i have?
- i installed that Boradcom stack 1.7 without having any succes in getting my headset to work. with or without patch1 and htcheadset! any ideas?!?
- what excactly is that HTC HEADSET ADDON ?
please answer soon, any help is very much appreciated!!!!
thx in advance,
krz
1. Same here; i think is my hands free set limitation.
2. I get the same using the Broadcomm stack; use the MS stack.
3. Depends; if you use Broadcomm/Widcomm, you have an "about" box; if you use MS, i don't know.
4. i get it working, but with audio in hands free AND speakers; annoying.
5. don't know, try Google.

What Bluetooth Stack you use ?
First, I use the existing MS Stack on Helmi WM6. BT GPS and Handsfree couldn't run at the same time.
Second, I use Broadcomm Stack 1.71. BT GPS and BT Stereo could run at the same time, but Hands-free function didn't run at all.
Give me a light please.
your bluetooth headset
A few of your problems could be from the bluetooth headset you are using now-- such as when people can not hear you clearly. I currently have a sound id sm100 bluetooth headset and it works flawlessly....although i still can not activate voice calling from it(it activates it on my BA so i have to talk into my BA and not my headset). It could just be your headset.

Yeah, Bluetooth in BA really sux... you have to choose your bt handsfree wisely, make sure you try it on BA properly before buying it... currently I am using i clip II mini, and it is giving me the same behaviour as shazzy84's

Well I found a way to solve the BTA2DP problem. It supports stereo & is just fantastic. you can find these by the following link http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware & this software works too http://www.trianglepowers.com/PPC/ViewApp.aspx?ID=52 (have to register to download). I prefer Teksoft freeware as I am using it. Sometimes it takes a while after a few toggle u get it right
