I just got an Xda Atom and I have a Motorola H605 Bluetooth headset. I was able to pair the Headset to the phone. However, it only works if it is connected to the phone before I receive a call or before I make a call. Also, the Turn on Hands Free is greyed out in the menu options on the Phone screen. I have tried repairing and resetting the Atom and I still have the same issue. Anyone know how to get around this?
Me also.
My Atom Exec with the new ROM could not pair with my Sony-Ericson HBH-IV835 bluetooth headset.
Anyone may help ???

I have the same problem with my ATOM even with the latest ROM. Initially, I thought the ATOM does not have speakerphone mode until I found out this:
Hold down the Call hard button. Voila! It works.
P.S. This is my first post in this forum. Anyone else from Malaysia?
aeronic,
you were able to play music to the BT headset? or just when making/receiving calls? I think that's what the original poster asked, I have the same problem so would like to know if it worked for you (play music to the BT headset)
thanks.

Hey guys. I have an XDA II and the Motorola Bluetooth headset. I gave up trying to use the headset before the updated XDA II ROM as it was very temperamental to say the least. Now I have updated the ROM its much better but I still have problems. If I am dialling out and put the headset on first then its fine, transfers to the headset etc. If I am wearing the headset and then take a call its fine, transfers to headset etc. But if I am not wearing the headset, say it’s in its case and the arm is closed then I get a call, I open the arm and stick the headset on and answer a call and nothing. Wont transfer to headset and I need to use the phone. Not good when driving! Is this still a XDA II problem? Have I set it up wrong or is the headset not working right? Bascially I need to have the arm open on the headset at all times for it to work like it should (like it did on my T68i) and its very annoying? Any ideas?
This is the headset http://www.motorola.com/mdirect/software/ss_html_docs/bluetooth/bluetooth_headset_info.pdf
Thanks in advance
Have you installed bluetooth tools? Unbond your headset then rebond after installing bluetooth tools.
What the best place to get the bluetooth tools from? Sorry if this has already been asked. And are they free??
Thanks
Yeah I did try bluetooth tools but it did not seem to make any difference maybe its just my headset, it was like one of the first Bluetooth headsets out :? I dunno...
You can get Bluetooth tools from...http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/
And it seems to be free
Thanks for that.
However, I could not find the settings button, Just a display on the screen. What are the 1 & 2 buttons for??
:?
Yeah the only changes you see are when adding new devices like headsets etc as far as I know. I thought the same as you, went through all the options looking for it hehe. Those two things on the screen are something to do with selecting different settings for bluetooth to conserve battery like always on or auto off. I am not too sure as I removed it when it did not fix my problem!
Yeah, I removed it too. It caused me all sorts of problems with connecting my bluetooth jabra bt200!
I'm aware of the various BT issues with the XDA II, and therefore installed BT Tools thinking it may allow me to use my handfree kit. Unfortunately I'm experiencing problems and not sure if this is me doing something wrong or there is a problem with the software. Basically the XDA II does not route either incoming or outgoing calls via the handfrees unit. I have do the following:-
1. Installed the latest BT Tools.
2. Created a bond with the Nokia Handfree kit, when prompted for the BT profile (the BT Tools icon screen) I select headset only.
3. Enable BT on the XDA II
When I make or receive a call is there any button or menu I should be selecting to enable the handsfree unit?
From the Today screen, make sure bluetooth headset mode is enabled.
And if Bluetooth Headset Mode does not appear on the today screen:
Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items and make sure Profile is checked. That will put the headset mode switch on the Today screen.
Thanks for the suggestions, I must admit I had missed the headset profile on the Today screen.
Even with the device paired, BT enabled & the Headset enable neither incoming or outgoing calls are routed through the handsfree unit.
Any other suugestions welcomed...
With the new bluetooth tools you need to transfer the call to the headset...
I find the best way when dialing is to have the phone ready to dial, then i hit the answer button on the headset causing the phone to dial & transfer sound to the headset @ the same time.
When answering the call the headset should ring and you press the answer button on the headset to recieve the call.

When you say press the headset button are you referring to the headset icon on the XDA or the Nokia handsfree button?
If its the Nokia button , I'll try this tomorrow, if not, then the icon does not ring and when receiving a call it is covered by the incoming call window.
Many thanks...
the nokia headset button

Yep thats what I thought, I think I can confidently say there is a compatability issue with using the current version of BT Tools with the new Nokia CK-7W handsfree kit.
I've read the user manual for the handfree kit and that refers to switching/transferring the call between the BT devices using the button. The unit clicks as if there's something happening, but no call is heard, the unit works perfectly with a BT phone connected both Nokia & Motorola.
I would try uninstalling pocket BT tools - for using a headset it is of no additional value anyway. I do not have it installed and have never had any problems making or receiving calls with my SE HBH-30 headset.
Try using the earlier version of bluetooth tools, make sure you uninstall the version you have and also unbond/remove bluetooth pairings, rebond after successful install.
Pocket Bluetooth Tools is perfect! This is what I'm looking for, except I can't figure out how to listen to music thru my bluetooth headset.
Thanks for the great tool though, now I can make calls with my headset.

The BIG advantage is battery life and not having to re-enable the headset profile each time you switch on the phone! With both PBT and/or Profile not displayed, I also get more Today real estate to play with.
With BT on all the time, I'm lucky to get four hours usage out of my Xda II, with PBT turning it off after five minutes the time can go up to almost seven. Sure, there is a short lag between call coming in and the headset (HBH-65) ringing but I can live with that and it even works well with Pocket Zen Phone. I also like the last number redial facility it adds to my headset. PBT rocks!
I found one problem with this program. My device won't automatically turn off after installing this tool. The backlight turns off, but not the device after certain minutes set. Who do I report the problem too.
i have got this problem to carnt get the xda i to connect to my car blue tooth hands free kit it finds the kit but nothing gome on guy get ya thinking heads on n help  to revolve this problem

Hi everyone,
well, I got the same problem :x with my XDA2, also called Qtek 2020, and Nokia carkit 112. It just does'nt work, even with BT tools. But I wonder how you get the icon screen while connecting to your Nokia carkit...cause mine is going straight back to the "Bluetooth connected devices" screen. I only got the icon screen, enabling the profile selection, while connecting to my Nokia 6310i phone.
Let's hope that HTC is gonna come up with Handsfree profile soon...
Regards to all, special ones to our OZ friends!! Mates, I really enjoyed living in Sydney, even if Italy is quite convenient as well.

Both my colleague and I use XDA2s and we work in the same office. Today, both of us have had incoming calls, while the unit is in its cradle. I took mine out of the cradle, checked who was calling and hit the green button. The call was answered (according to the display) but I could hear nothing. My colleague had exactly the same happen to him, from a different caller. Has anyone else had this, or is there a technique to answering a call when the XDA is in its cradle?
Hello,
I have had no problem answering calls from within the cradle -
I did exactly as you said - picked up the device from the cradle, but I pressed the "answer" button on the screen, all works fine for me.
Cheers
I have answered lots of times the same way with no problems, I've even put the unit on speakerphone... Very handy when cradled...
Did you use a headset before?
The following happend for me once:
I use the headset for listening music. Phone is ringing. I unplug the headset, because I have a poor quality Hama one, and in a loudy bus, the internal speaker of the PDA is better.
But I hear nothing. The only way to take a phone call, with the headset.
I think the PDA's headset connector switch was wrong. After I plug and unplug the headset many times, my wallaby worked. (The PDA felt the headset plugged, so switch off the speaker but the headset wasn't pluged. Soft reset did not help)
This is my story

There is a setting, to automatically switch on speakerphone when PDA in the cardle?
Thanks!
Thanks, everyone, for the feedback. Neither of us had used headphones, but we both have BT headsets, which we had used that morning - one's a Jabra BT200 and the other is a Bluetrek G2. I don't know whether that is relevant or not.
If anyone out there uses a BT headset and can tell me how they select a number from contacts and ring it so that the headset works - I'd like to know! Mine only seems to work if initiate the call from the headset.
(off topic, sorry) is there any way of getting the phone to answer calls/dial calls in hands free mode? or creating a profile that does so (ie when i am in car and xda is in a (non handsfree) cradle.

I do not know if this feature is availble. I did a little search on my imate but did not find such a feature! but will be nice to have it!
The only option available is to asnwer received calls after certain rings!
it would be worth cheching how old the rom version is on your xda2 as there is an issue with the very early versions of the rom (1.03.00) for example. In this version nither the cell line or the gprs cant be connected while the XDA2 is in its cradle. current version should be 1.60.00.
hope this helps
Sorry if you have already read this but I am still having a problem!!
I got the new Bluetake iphone mini stereo headphones for christmas and was hoping to use them with my MDA Pro (running the new O2 ROM).
I have them paired as a "Hands Free" device...
I know that I can't use the stereo features until the new A2DP patch come out (hopefully soon!), however what I want to be able to do is use voice command to initiate calls etc. However when I press the call/power or Play/Pause button all I hear is a beep from the headset and nothing hapens on the PDA...
However I can use the button to answer and hangup a call (as long as I answered it with the handset...) If I initiate the call on the MDA then I can't hangup with the headset...
Am I doing something wrong or does it sound like something is faulty??
Any advice?
Thanks
Andy.
I actually had an oportunity to try out the voice levels and sound is awful! I also tried to connect it to my SE T610 and it refused and it did the same when I tried to connect it to my Toshiba M200 tablet PC as in both cases it never asked for the passkey...
I am begining to think that they must be faulty??
But becuase I have never had a BT headset before so I'm not sure if I am doing something stupid!
Andy
I have managed to try a SE BT headset with my MDA Pro and it did work and activate voice command. So it would seem that the headset is faulty. Does anyone have any ideas before I send it back?
Andy
Please!! Is there anyone here who can comment on whether they think these are broken or if I am just incompetent!
If they are broken then I need to send them back really soon...
FWIW, my Jabra BT330 and the SE HBH-662 just need a single quick click to activate the voice dial, but these Plantronics Pulsar 590A things I just got (which are fandabidosi by the way!) need a prolonged press to do the same.
Have you tried keeping your finger on the button for a while?
Ferg.

Just looked at the instructions for the bluetake i-phone (bt450rx),
(got them myself for xmas)
and it does not say that you can connect to the phone for voice control,
however you should be able to hang up from the headset.
i have got the k-jam (wizard) and can dial from the k-jam and hangup from the headset.
voice control may not be available because the new bluetooth stereo headset's are ready for AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile).
the older bluetake headset bt420rx can be used for voice control but do not have AVRCP function.
I hope i am wrong, but it may be the answer you have not been looking for.
Hmm... That sounds bad...
I only have a few days left to return it and don't know whether to get a replacement or to go for a different headset?
i like the idea of being able to play/pause/f-foward/rewind via the headset(when bt v2 upgrade is available), because music playback is more important to me than voice dial.
of course if you can send it back, then perhaps just wait until bt v2 is available, and then buy a headset for the uses you require it for.(wish there was an emotion with cross eyes) LOL
I know what you mean but I would still be able to use voice command!!
Does anyone else have the 450Rx and a universal and could test it for me?
if you do prove me wrong (and i hope you do) please let me know.
answering this problem further,
the bluetake i-phono mini headset cannot be used for voice command,
however the motorola ht820 can be used for voice control.
Had similar issues with my headset (not the same type). In the end, I had enable secure mode on the universal, pair the devices, select serial port and then immediately initiate the voice dial, otherwise it didn't work.
Gareth
I decided to play it safe and returned it back to Expansys for a refund. When someone else gets a set of stereo headphones and A2DP is out... and crucially they can confirm it works! Then I'll buy a new one!
Cheers
Andy
one good thing with motorola ht820 is that they can be used with a detatchable cable, so whilst i'm using them bluetooth for the phone side, i can still hear good quality music.
also i know from trying them with my wife's qtek s110 that you can control windows media player as well.
you may have already tried this, but just in case you haven't,
install and run the three files for either "bt off", "bt on", or "bt toggle",
this will switch all audio to the bt headset or away,
of course quality is not good, but at least no cables.
ps. if the headset is switch off and you put bt on, you will get an on screen error message.

Do they come with this cable as standard?
EDIT: Did a search, and they do.... might just buy them now and sell my Sony EX-71's.... would they we at least the same in terms of sound quality? It's the thing people talk about least with these devices!
So lemme see if I got this right.... even before I get A2DP installed on my Exec, I can listen to perfect music using the cable, and also use the hphones as a bluetooth headset as well? Will the music still pause etc when a call comes in?
Just bought a pair of HT820's on Ebay there.... £38, not too bad. Should get about £25-30 for two pairs of existing headphones, so well please.
I have successfully made my ANYCOM stereo Bluetooth headphones ( http://tuxtops.com/node/464 ) to work wtih my HTC Wizard using the "wireless stereo" instructions that were posted the other day on this forum.
When you set it as "wireless stereo", is it supposed to also switch to handsfree functionality automatically? You see, over here this doesn't happen. The music stops when I get an incoming call, but I don't get the person's voice through my headset. The headset does not switch to handsfree mode.
Is this normal? Or something else is wrong?
I connected to my headset by clicking "set as a wireless stereo". If I also click "set as a handsfree", I don't get any music you see. So, why my headphones don't automatically change mode to handsfree on an incomming call? Anyone else with this problem?
i have the same problem but it doesn't bother me.
but if there is a fix then this would be cool and easier.
A2DP support for HTC Wizard can be obtained by using this hack/tweak: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=275506#275506
didn't try it myself, but has been reported to work on HTC Wizard and other Windows Mobile 5 devices.
CIAO!
VOODOOS!L
Any solution so far?? I will receive my Anycom BSH-100 within the next days...
I don't think there is a solution apart from praying for a new ROM.
it might be a problem with the headset and rom
did you try repairing it?
because i know everything works fine for me using itech stereo
when a call comes in, it switches no problem
