I tried to install ClearVue PDF from the O2 supplied CD and it failed (with error messages in German!) - however when I tried to 'remove programs' I get the above message and ClearVue is still listed under programs. Ditto with Skype. These are the only 2 things I have added since switching my XDa mini s on for the first time. How should I uninstall these properly....so I can start again! Thanks
Well if you want to install it. Try installing it again. Then if fails again download the latest version of it from their website and install that. Hopefully you will have the registration key installed and it will work. Otherwise you will at least have an English error message.
Thanks
I'll try the web site - looks like I can't just download ClearVue - does it all come witin the 'software update' bundle?
No no no! ;-) The Clearvue website http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/pdf/ As long as the install you have made registered it the trial version will be installed as fully operational.
Thanks
I'll have a go...
Sometimes a program wont delete because its running. make sure you have nothing running before removing it
Is this not an issue with the persistent memory in the Wizard? I've never been able to uninstall things, always comes up with that error, but installing an AKU 2.3 ROM seems to have solved the problem.
I think it's a persistent issue - I've tried every way of uninstalling (from Xda and PC via ActiceSync etc) and ClearVue is still there (and not working). However last comment slightly too techy for me (sorry - just a user....)? Is this an OS upgrade....?
The ROM is an OS upgrade, read all about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53954&highlight=
Whether the newer ROM solves the problem, someone better informed than me will have to tell you. It may just be coincidence that I can now uninstall programs properly??

Hiya All,
I'm trying to install Hebrew language extender on my Imate Jam rom 1.12
I'de a previous version installed which was fine, tried to uninstall and install a new version because of some minor problems which I though that will be solved in the newer version.
The problem is that during the installation, the install wizard tries to install tahoma and tahomabd fonts to the ppc device and fails in that operation.
The exact error message is "Can't copy C:\Windows\Fonts\\tahoma.ttf", yep with double "\\".
I've also tried to copy the original version which I'd but stayed with the same results.
Any opinion on how to solve this mistery ?
Thanks in advanced,
Bright Star
Sorry, I can't help you with that, but I can confirm that this software is very bad for your Magician.
I purchased the Danish version and ran it for some time. During that period I had a LOT of problems with the BT icon dissapearing.
I started noticing that after a hard reset, the icon was always there until I installed the Language Extender, and then it was gone! Sure enough, since I stopped using this program, my BT icon problems has nearly dissapeared.
So unless someone comes up with a better idea, all I can say is hard reset your Magician and don't use this crappy software again
I cannot install GPRS Monitor from myO2 CD, it says i need to update my ROM, i did a corporate install btw
Anyone else had any probs?
Another forum member had this same problem when installing the ClearVuePDF Reader also supplied by o2 as part of the HTC application suite. He has the MDA, but flashed with the o2 Exec ROMs and then installed in Corporate mode.
From work we did together, it appears to be just the install program that was not validating his device. When I tried a hard-reset and Corporate mode install, I had no problems installing. However, its beginning to look as though a hard-reset does not totally clear the Exec's memory. In his case, I found all the individual files and registry settings needed for ClearVuePDF to run and he copied those to the device. Runs perfectly for him like that.
So I'm afraid you'll have to find somebody with the o2 version of GPSMonitor installed and get them to determine all the files/locations and registry-settings needed to get it to run. Unfortunately I don't have a GPRS connection or GPRSMonitor installed.
Just a thought. Have you yet tried a full o2 Personal mode install on your device? It just might be this action that puts 'something' in memory that is not cleared by a hard-reset, and that 'something' might be what the install program is looking for.
Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
No problem thanks for your help

I did a basic install and I get the same error. Sorry, Not much help though.

Me too. The ClearVuew PDF reader is rubbish! Text misalighed all over - Adobe with pixel doubling is better than this.
Please try this
Could one of you having a problem to install the o2 supplied GPRSMonitor, please try installing the attached .CAB after copying it to your device.
This CAB is extracted from the CD-ROM install program, so hopefully skips the validation stuff. With luck you might be able to get around the failed validation by installing from this CAB.
Note: Even if asked to install to Storage Card, the o2 supplied version (2.3.0 build 600) puts very little there, most goes into device memory. The current version 2.41 from spb will obey the instruction to install to SD-Card, but wasn't reliable when run from there - the monitoring part aborted four times in 10-minutes whilst I was playing with it.
Unfortunately, since I don't have the install problem, I can't test this install out.
It works a treat. Thanks muchly!

Am I glad about that - I was in the midst of trying to locate all the files/registry entries needed for a manual install.
Perhaps I can go to bed now!
I also managed to 'locate' another copy and it works fine, thanks for all the help.

I can confirm this but with other files. After several hard resets (even with the clear storage icon), the pictures I had taken were still there.

Ouch! I didn't realsie it was as bad as that.
The situation is made worse by the backup program I'm using (Sunnysoft Backup Manager) not backing up all the data and settings. Neither does it perform a true restore - just merges the backup with what's there after the hard-reset.
Unfortunately, I'm used to HP's backup applet from the Jornada 928; which performed a total backup/flush restore. Are there any other applets for WM5/universal that really performs a full backup/restore?
Does anyone have this cab please? I have just bought a new O2 exec and am having the same problem with it saying my ROM version is too old!!
sorry ignore that post! Work computer blocked the file out
I am running my XDA EXEC in basic mode. When I tried copying the .cab file to my device and running it from there , still get the problem.
Any suggestions ?
I was running personal mode then switched to basic mode, could this cause the problem.
Thanks for you replies in advance.
Cannot remove GPRS monotr app
I installed this file to test it out om M3000. Unfortuntely I cannot seem to uninstall it now! It doesnt show up in my Program list - How do you uninstall it?
I looked in the \\windows folder and removed all files and shoretcuts I could find, but its still showing up on my 'today' screen with an error.
Any ideas? The registry?
Cheers
rob
Linuxgeek:
I was also getting the ROM version problem installing programs to my SD card on my O2 exec. Since I'd only just added the card and was running the basic installation, I did the following:
1) Hard reset
2) Personal Install
3) Re-install ActiveSync on PC
This did the trick. Thankfully I like the Personal install best anyway, but I don't know if that step was necessary.
Tried it. Still get the problem :-(
My mistake - I managed to install the Clearvue PDF program, not the GPRS monitor program. I'm still getting the ROM version error with the GPRS monitor program, but I've not tried the above download yet.
Anyone got any other ideas to fix this problem.
Shame O2 don't have an update to fix this problem on their website.
I've now tried the CAB posted above by astage and I can confirm it worked for me. Just copy the CAB to your device and then open it to start the install.
Is WMWifiRouter working in the new official sprint WM 6.1 ROM that was recently released? (not the beta/test version, the official ship release)
Hi! You have to use the 1.5i version.
Hi again... ...just installed the 1.09 version and works great!!!
Hey all, one of the moderators suggested I put this post in here:
I’ve seen a few people here and at least one person over at PPCGeeks who have this issue, but no one has posted a way to resolve it.
Here’s the issue: I’m running the new stock 3.56 ROM on my Sprint Mogul. I installed WMWifiRouter 0.91, then removed it in favor of 0.80 (I read it had some advantages over 0.91). I believe I then uninstalled 0.80 to reinstall 0.91 and then decided to give WMWifiRouter the finger. I guess it knew I wanted to abandon it completely as it won’t let me uninstall it now. I get the following error:
“Jorrit Jongma WMWifiRouter was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?”
I click “Yes,” but the program still stays on the list. If I try to reinstall it, it says the installation was unsuccessful.
I’ve tried the suggestions I’ve seen which include leaving the wifi switch on during the installation/uninstallation and simply deleting the folders, but nothing helps. Is there maybe a registry edit I can perform to just tear the program from my Mogul by force? I deleted all references I could find by doing a search with Resco Explorer, but still get the same error. How did such a clean little program become so messy? If it wasn’t so flakey I’d continue to use it.
You need to upgrade to the latest versions those old old versions are going to be flaky as the newer ones have had a lot of rewrites to them

I tried installing the new version, but the old program still remains on the list of installed programs as the two have different names. I was able to uninstall the new version (v1.09), but the old version is still stuck on there. The same error comes up when I attempt to remove it.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
sounds like a hard reset is in order...
Hi,
I've been trying to install gyrator and got this message so tested several other CABs and now seem to be getting this message on trying to install any CAB - really frustrating
Any ideas what might be causing this?
My Blackstone configuation is all pretty standard with original ROM etc
Any suggestions welcomed!
try reinstalling the cab again, it should say that it will remove previous installed version and will reinstall, BUT it wont proceed with the installation. Now after this, go back to the remove programs section and check if its still there.
Wondering if you found the issue, as i have this happening over 4 or 5 different ROM's, ruled out that its a ROM issue, trying to narrow it down to a 3rd party app, unsucessful so far.
When trying to install ANY cab i get the 'unsucessful installation' error message - including cabs i've already installed. Flash my phone this morning, install apps i wanted to, went to install something else this evening, now getting this message.
I've got Sktools installed and i am able to install cabs via this.
Got that problem too on Xperia X1, can't figure out either what the cause might be. Anyone any ideas?
Found my cause - it was installing Twikini

so you can't install apps after installing twikini?
I'm getting the "uninstall unsuccessfu" for almost anything i try to install and do have twikini installed (but i can't remember if it was the last app i've installed).
Also i can't open attachments in my emails, can't download files from PIE and when i go to remove programs (start-settings-system-remove programs) the list is empty...
DId you have to hard reset or did u find away around this?
btw, i'm having these issues on my kaiser.
Finally I found what my problem was, even if I can't understand, why this is a problem.
From time to time, e.g. when I got no USB cable around, I used to send the .cab vie E-Mail to have them on my device. Well, and as a matter of fact, exactly those are the ones, where installation fails.
Copying exactly the same file via USB to storage card ends in everything working fine....
So i flashed a new rom and installed twikini first, everything was ok for a couple of days. But all of a sudden this problem is back.
I know its not the .cab files because they're the same cabs i'm trying to install that i install on almost every rom after i flash them.
I'm thinking its yahoo go.
This is a bit OT but I'm in a real mess here and hope one of the techies can advise please.
Earlier today I tried to upgrade PocketMind's PocketMusic from 5.3.1 to the latest version 5.3.3 of on my HTC Touch Pro 2 (WM 6.1), as recommended by PocketMind. It failed to install. It got to the stage where it told me the previous version will be uninstalled and asked if I wanted to proceed. I clicked OK as usual and then got 'Installing PocketMind PocketMusic.CAB ...'. But there was no progress in the bar. It stayed empty. On re-starting the Touch Pro 2 the same cycle was repeated.
I then repeated the attempt to install 5.3.3 but this time I got the error message "Copy error ...".
When I then tried to run the old/existing version PM 5.3.1 I got an empty screen.
But now I cannot uninstall PocketMusic, either with Remove Programs on the TP2 or with Add/Remove Programs from AS on the PC.
I also downloaded the individual CAB for version 5.3.1 but that wouldn't open on my PPC.
I've also used Resco Explorer to remove \Program Files\Pocket Music but still can't install or uninstall.
So I'm well and truly stuck. I've emailed PocketMind but meanwhile can any of the experts help please? Is there some program that will safely clear out all traces of PocketMusic (whatever version or versions is currently still hanging around? Would it help to clear my PC registry of all references to PocketMind/PocketMusic/Pmusic? Any other ideas please?

I've had issues like this before. To be honest I think there is little you can do apart from a hard reset (from memory I think that's what I've had to do in the past).
Why don't you take the opportunity to put it down to a bad experience and flash a new rom & start all over from scratch.
Not very helpful, I know...but I believe it's very difficult to remove all traces of a program from the registry as there could be unidentifiable entries all over the place.

Have you tried SKTools? It has a comprehensive install/uninstall tool, even for applications not registered as installed. It gives you the names of all regkeys created and also of files installed ... it may help to clean up your system...
Hope it helps,
