I bought a Qtek S200 while visiting Britain during last April. The phone worked well until recently. Now it is stuck to headphone mode. It rings, but when answered none of the parties can hear each other. Any kind of sound is directed not to the speaker but to the earphone. Unfortunately the IMEI sends me to a service called Teleservice, and I am situated in Turkey, and when called this service wasnt even sure that they were servicing Qtek. Anyway, after 2 days of inspection they tell me that there was a problem with the mainboard and since this unit was bought abroad it was out of warranty. Years ago I had a problem with my Ipaq bought again in London, and Compaq had sent DHL to pick it up at my house sent to Ireland replaced and sent back with no charge. I dont know whether Qtek has a similar worldwide warranty, but at least I should have found a place, a person whom I could communicate, not a third party service.
Should I go on using it with headphones all the time?
WHAT kind of a company is that, you cant even find a way to communicate with them.
I sympathise with you about your situation. Especially the rotten support from Qtek
Wanted to register mine on their website but was sent on a round-robin
In any case other people have had similar problem on the Atom and have resolved it by a few repeated insert and remove of the headset jack. Some say it is internal "shorting".
Good luck

The THB Bury is a great car kit, especially with the built in GPS facility, however, the more the radio is turned up (it's fitted through the car speakers via the radio so it mutes etc). it becomes almost impossible to have a conversation due to an echo (which is heard from both ends !!!
I am reliably advised that it's a 'bugette' between the 2 technologies and that O2 are supposed to be 'fixing' the probelm, I've also been told that the UK importers (Chameleon) are also supposed to be producing a 'fix'.
I'm also advised that it works fine with the XDAIIi in Germany where the Bury is made and where German mobile providers have obviously collaberated.
Anyone experiencing this? Anyone know of any cures out there??
we have the same problem, however we think it's related to how far away the XDA is from the speaker, but have not been able to test it yet.
I was told by the official UK Distrbutor of the cradles that these cradles are only suitable for the XDA 2 (not 2i), they are unable to supply them for the 2i as they are having many problems with the sound/radio. Although the devices are the same, if you mention that it's for a 2i, they advise against buying the cradle.

who's the official UK distributer?
Company called codewing

Hi guys,
I am looking around for a speaker for my XDAII... I havent been successful.... all the shops want to charge me for the repair when all I want is the part.
Does anyone have an XDA they use for spare parts to sell me their speaker or maybe a dead device they want to sell ???
I am in London... willing to pay by paypal/cheque etc...
Urgent requirement!
Thanks,
Hi, saw your post and as luck would have it, i have an imate pda for spares and the speaker is still intact. I'm in cape town South Africa... PM me for more details
I just bought a used iMate Jam and it appears that the speaker is not working. How do would I test that to see if it is the problem?
I was hoping it was a software problem but seeing your post I now know the speakers do fail.
Thanks,
Jeff
I have it ,but i m in Egypt Cairo

hi, I just bought an Atom Pure. I have a question and thanks in advance for help. When I listen to the MP3 using my headset, I can hear a popping noise in the background and it is very annoying. But after I softreset, the noise seems to go away. It will came back again if I use the phone and then listen to MP3.
I tried to hard-reset and the popping noise still there. Then, I went to the retailer to try out another Atom Pure English Version, the same "problem" is also on the second Pure Atom.
On May 2nd, I then phoned the O2 customer/technical support and report to them the problem. They responded to me as there has been no report of above mentioned problem by other users with ATom that has the 20060123 ROM. I will be talking to the manager of the O2 technical support tomorrow. I will update you all asap.
So far, the Atom is a good piece of hardware, in my mind, it is better than 818pro. However, the Atom software is the problem which O2 is working hard to update.
Do update us on whatever goes on with your Pure.
I am surprised O2 shipped this device with that ROM we are crying about
Hi, Ultra4 and the team out there...thanks for the support (at least spiritually !!)
Yes, I got the call back from the O2 tech supt mgr and he confirmed that the popping noise is a bug and he got quite a bit of complains from others as well on this. He confirmed that there will be a new ROM update in mid June to resolve this. I guess this is the 0414 version that everybody is "hot and heavy" on these days...but he will not confirm nor he doesn't suggest me downloading the "not for sale" version. Of course he has to say that due to beauracracy standpoint.
Anyway...this is what I have so far....but now, a "itchy" question from me to you'all .... should I take this product back to the retailer (bought 3 days ago) and exchange for another brand ? such as EtenM600, etc.. any thoughts/advise ? I love and have been using the O2 products all the way back from the XDA years...so, II, IIi, IIs, Mini....etc.. and now the disappointing Atom....the Ad say...Pure Atom...but I say...Pure Disappointment..
Whatever suits you
Well, if that "pop" sound gets under your skin then trade it in.
I used the Atom from the first day it was launched with more problems than just what you described. I stuck it out and with each ROM upgrade it got better. At least I know O2 is working on fixing this problem and continually releasing the updates.
now ... I wonder how long DOPOD has to wait just to get the STEREO bluetooth ... manufacturer not doing anything about upgrading firmware ?
I prefer a company that keeps improving and supporting their product.
I had bought a O2 Atom last year, the problems were with the WI-FI ,
Submitted it to the O2 Service Center,
Result :
The told me the Main Board was faulty and did not have a replacement.
They would call me when and as it is available.
TILL date no call or replacement.
1 YEAR AND NO REPLACEMENT MAIN BOARD,
Proof :
Enclosing the Service Report Form.
I am a WM phone user ever since it was launced. and a member here on the forum since 2003 keeping tracks regularly. I seriuosly recommend chosing a manufacturer who would handle customers, 800 $ for a phone is a significant amount, How many would like to see that go down the drain..
Thank You,
Girish Kadel
Why dont u ask them to provide you with a new unit. Or You can take them to consumer court.
And another one gets bitten by the Atom. You probably won't get a new board since O2's no longer supporting a vanilla Atom. Push for a new unit if you can.
(Frankly, I have no idea why nobody tried to take O2 and Quanta to court for knowingly releasing screwed up units out of the box. We ought to set precedents for this sort of thing, especially if its a unit we can't fix ourselves.)
hi,
i have O2 Atom ,, and 2 months ago i had a problem connecting the device to the PC ,,, i went to the service Center ,,they told me there's a problem in the board and they replaced it,, and it only took 2 weeks and they were so helpful,, i think it depends on the place ,, i live in Saudi Arabia ,,, anyway ask for a new unit ,, and they'll help u ,,,
bro gkadel, out of thousand, you are one of the unlucky.
For me, so far so good.
I live in HK. I have just replaced my motherboad 1 month ago. however, I have waited for 2 months.
I had the same problem as well. I didn't leave my atom for them, they haven't called me. I have kept waiting for 2 months. So i went to O2 centre again and leave the phone to them. They replaced my atom motherboard within 3 days.
I am not sure how they work internally. But i suggest you dicusss with them face to face. Since they always forgot cases, they never call customer back.
same thing happened to me, location: O2 Service Center Singapore.
the device cannot connect to any telco provider, changing the SIM card didn't change anything. it just won't register to the network, keeps searching...
so I leave it in the service center and they promised to call back which they never did. I have to repeatedly call them for status update. Then after almost a month they quote me S$400 plus for a mainboard replacement, which I refuse to pay, it's too much.. so I claimed back the device and still have to pay S$47 for a service charge.
furthermore.., the void sticker which covers the little screws in the back casing still intact. which means, during that time when my O2 is at the service center, they didn't even bother to check the inside component at all. and there's no sign of a hard-reset attempt too. so they just propose to change the mainboard without doing any physical checking at all.

I used the Xphone II in early days, then O2 change their repair service provider to some guy in Bugis Junction and I really don't like it. From then no O2 for me. I am actually contemplating of trading in my 818Pro for the atom exec cos the price is cheap now at M1. but seeing so much negative comments, i changed my mind.
I want an 818Pro but I found an Atom Exec before I found the Dopod. I think the Exec is an awesome phone. I've set mine up properly now and it is very good. Very fast and responsive, the O2 software is great -- O2 Plus works so well I don't have to install other musthaves I used to have like spb pocketplus, vBar, etc -- call reception is great and speaker volume is loud enough.
My only problems with it are the battery life -- but that's a problem with any PocketPC -- and the 2.5mm jack which outputs such poor quality sound, so if I want to use the phone as an MP3 player I have to use a bluetooth stereo headset (which in turn drains the battery life even faster).
The Atom Exec is an awesome phone, don't let all these negative comments deceive you.
PS -- the original Atom may be bad but the Exec is very good out of the box as far as I can tell.

Thkx Mochan. a bit of a confidence booster there. my 818Pro is only slow, and doesn't have A2DP or radio. I like to have radio, and it has macro camera mode, good for close up shots. Only if they have a more complete 818Pro.
I just got the phone activated on my x7501. Tested the AT&T Connection and it works fine.
Paired 2 different Bluetooth headsets to the x7501. A Plantronics 655 and a Blueant Z9. Both pair fine and I can initiate a call and even set the voice dialing to dial someone. I can get a beep in the headset when someone calls me and can pick up the call. However, as soon as I connect the call I can hear nothing in the BT headset. No audio of any kind from the x7501. If I turn hands-free off then it defaults to the speakerphone and I can complete the call. This happens the same with BOTH BT earpieces.
Any ideas? I contacted HTC and all they would suggest was a Hard reset. I would rather not have to reload all my apps, but if it is the only way..........
Thanks
Joe
Hello. I had exactly the same problem with my 7501. Your phone is probably defective. I spent 3 months trying to get this fixed. I posted on this site & several others looking for a solution. Nothing. I also spent dozens of hours doing hard resets, downloading 3rd party Bluetooth programs, all to no avail. I had several conversations with HTC tech support, still no fix. I tried a Jawbone, a Plantronics 510, & an LG Style-i. None worked. No audio just as you described. Everything paired, connected, dialed out, got incoming calls etc. but no audio. Now for the good news. Mine is now fixed & working perfectly. I had to send it to the HTC repair facility in Houston Texas, twice. The first time they sent it back it still didn't work. The second time it came back fixed & is working perfectly. Even some of the other programs are working better. The first time I was told they replaced the UMTS module & the audio module. The last time they replaced the "main board". This is a long answer to a short question but I wish I had known this when I started. I hope this helps. Mine is under warranty & was fixed at no charge other than the shipping to them. You will need to call HTC repair service, not tech support, & they will tell you how to handle this......
Thanks Grossa,
I have been talking to tech support last friday and was advised to cal for an RMA # Got that this morning and will be sending it in tonight.
How fast did they turn it around? I need my phone for a trip the ennd of next week. Thanks for your response
Joe
Good, you're on the right track. It took about 10 days total, including shipping both ways. I live in North Georgia & the shipping took 2 days each way. Your times may me different. They actually turned it around pretty fast considering 4 days shipping, plus there was a weekend in there too. Hopefully they will fix yours in one trip. You might want to put a note in the box reminding them that they just had one out there with the same problem. So far mine is still working perfect. I use an LG Style-i & like it so much I have ordered a second one for backup, $25.00 on Amazon. I can't/won't use a headset. Everyone says the LG sounds better than the 7501 when talking to them. HTH...........
Thanks Grossa,
It went out last night.
I wrote a note as to what the problem was and also included a print out of this thread. Hopefully they will fix it the first time. Figure I will hit walmart for a prepaid phone I can put my SIM card into as a backup. The C168i is < $20.
Thanks for your help.
Joe
Let us know how it turns out.
