Just got a bluetooth module for my car's hand's free kit and while I can pair with it ok and use it to dial out and pick up calls, once the call connects it doesn't pass through the voice - it still comes out of the phone (XDA Exec). I've been through all the bluetooth settings and double-checked it's set up as a hands-free adapter, but I'm still getting nowhere.
Anyone got any clues before I bin this increasingly poor excuse for a phone and get something that works?
If you decide to "bin" your phone for cheap, let me know.
I have exactly the same problem with my exec and a Parrot bluetooth handsfree system. It worked perfectly well before I upgraded my phone to the latest ROM (1.30.107).
According to Parrot, I need to upgrade the ROM on my handsfree adapter. This is apparently an issue with Windows Mobile 5. You may need to do the same thing.
I haven't upgraded my Parrot system yet so can't comment if the update truely fixes the problem, but I was working perfectly before upgrading the ROM on my phone.
Ah nuts...
The bluetooth module for my hands-free kit has only just been released, so I can't see any ROM updates being available soon. Even then it will almost certainly require an expensive visit to the (probably clueless) dealers.

I have only had my XDA 2 for a week and I can’t get my Motorola 810 head set to work. The XDA finds it and tells me that it is compatible with headset profiles but it doesn't seem to work. Can anyone advise me?
Thanks
Andy
Have you followed the procedure for pairing the device,ie: place xda in discover mode, when it finds the headset, tap then enter code for pairing, once paired switch bluetooth to on, then make sure you have bluetooth headset turned on from the main/today screen.
I seem to have problems with my bluetooth headset every once in a while also. I have a HBH65. On ocassion, the connection doesn't seem to be working even though headset is enabled and they are paired. I've found that if I soft reset the XDA2, that the bluetooth headset will work again.
Have you installed towas bluetooth tools patch, this fixes a lot of problems with bonding and alos makes things work where they couldnt before. I was told that the latest rom release here in UK was going to address all these problems too but I havent got around to upgrading yet, I hope it supports full headset profiles so I can originate calls from the headset as well as answering the call.
I have downloaded the new Rom update and it seems no different. I have tried a soft reset and this did not improve the situation.
I know the headset works fine as I use it with my nokia handset with no problem.
Has anyone got a Motorola 810 that works ok on the XDA ?

did the bluetooth tools patch support voice dial from bluetooth headset? if not did anyone know the new rom from O2 works with this function? thanks!
Andy, no it doesnt support originate call from headset but it did allow lots of different gps and headsets to work, the headsets work for answer call/drop call only as far as I know, in the notes for the xda2 upgrade it mentions the headset profile but I dont know if anybody has hot the headset facility to work yet, I havent upgraded yet so I am yet to test it.
I have installed the new ROM and as far as I can see it does nothing for Bluetooth beyond fixing some compatibility issues on some headsets. It still only allows one headset profile (so if you have a headset and a handsfree kit as I do you need to delete bonded pairs when you change devices - now there's intelligent functionality!!). No headset dialing so still not a complete BT headset implementation. No handsfree support.
Anyone else think that the XDAII is a great PDA but about the worst apology for a GSM phone in the last 10 years?
If anyone can point me to a decent set of BT tools to add on let me know.
Not really.
I fully agree the XDAII is a poor phone, with the best agenda and contact list available, but that is!
I wonder if Phone-pda makers are really going the so called "convergence" way.
To date, and after many different PDA/phone/PDA-Phone devices I've tried, no one is even close to the mark.
Something so "simple" such as merging an OLD Ericsson (or Sony-Ericsson) T-68 phone abilities, with just a PPC 2002 (yes, not even 2003) PDA, should produce a combo, no machine on the market is even close to.
IT'S SO DIFFICULT?

Hello,
does anyone here drive a recent BMW that has the Bluetooth phone interface (essentially a bluetooth headset built into the car)? If yes, are you able to use it with an XDA-II?
I can't seem to bond the device with the car - the phone thinks it's done it, but the car just shows "BLUETOOTH PAIRING" and when I try to place a call the phone asks for the passkey and goes through what seems like a successful pairing process - but it does not actually work. The "BMW ULF wants to bond, enter passkey" message keeps appearing and appearing after every seemingly successful bonding attempt.
Anyone?

with the kind of money you paid for that car, the salesman should come over and do the pairing for you.
I remember reading somthing on this subjet on the forum.

Thanks guys! I guess I'm out of luck then.
I tried to use a spare Nokia 6600 I had lying around and I got a bit further, but it's still unusable. The Nokia bonds perfectly, I can call with the car's interface, incoming calls ring in the car's speakers - but whenever the call is answered only the phone's speakers and mic work...
Apparently not only does the XDA-II not support the handsfree profile (if you think about it, why should it? it would be a surprise if ANYTHING BT-related worked on it) but the Nokia 6600 is screwed up too.
I guess I'll have to get a Nokia 6310. That's one of the the recommended phones by BMW:
http://www.circlebmw.com/parts/blue/phones.htm
I just thought that since I had a "universal phone kit" in the car it was supposed to work with any recent BT phone. Universal? That list above is shockingly short.
Have you installed the latest version of bluetooth tools?
Well, Bluetooth tools actually made things worse. It still wouldn't bond correctly with the car, but after that it kept connecting and re-connecting to my PC every few seconds, even when BT was off! (It seemed to turn itself on automatically after a few minutes.) The TDK systray notification was driving me crazy. Getting rid of BT Tools solved this partucular problem.
How is the new MDA-II ROM (1.72) in regards to Bluetooth? I hear that some bonding problems have been solved - is the handsfree profile supported yet? I'm tempted to upgrade but given that it's just a beta and it's hard to go back if I end up disliking it is discouraging.
Hi everybody,
I completed some tests using my bluetooth car kit (Audi integrated BT MMI car kit). Here is what I saw :
With the original french ROM (1.18.256.2)
Outgoing calls
90% of the calls were interrupted during dialing or connection. The main problem was UMTS stability with the french mobile operator named SFR. After deactivating UMTS/3G and falling back to GSM, 80% of the calls were interrupted during the first minute of communication because of BT unstability.
Incoming calls
Impossible to take a call : half were immediatly interrupted, half were answered using the internal micro instead of the BT one.
With the JasJam ROM (1.20.305.3)
Outgoing calls
After deactivating UMTS/3G support all the calls are stable. Every thing is working fine and the Audi BT car kit works just fine !
Incoming calls
Still impossible to take a call : quite all are not well handled. BT is still unusable to take calls.
I don't think the BT car kit is the problem, because I am using it every day with a Qtek 8310 (Tornado) and both incoming and outgoing calls are well handled.
If you've got some experience, please share it. I am so disapointed that this marvelous TyTN cannot replace my Tornado, only because this "merdique" (<------ french romantic word ) bluetooth functionnality is not working !
Arnaud.
Hi Arnaud,
I too have problems - see:

Paul
Im also having problems with carkit.
Jasjam and kjam just dont connect with my carkit (while they pair with it) but Jasjam and all nokia / samsung phones work perfectly well with it. Even Palm treo 650 works.
Is this a problem with iMate sets or with Windows Mobile 5.0?
I've had a friend who also has a TyTN which we tried in my kit and it didn't work. It seems that users with other variants (e.g. Orange) don't have this issue?
Further (non-technical) tests have shown that if you answer or make a call, you can get the audio by going into the call menu and choosing "Turn handsfree off". My uneducated guess here is that there is some issue with the headset feature on the TyTN and by doing this, it resets the headset profile and bingo!
It is a pain in the ar$e doing this for inbound calls, but for outbound it is manageable - you simply dial the number and whilst it is connecting, do the menu->Turn handsfree off workaround. Hopefully the new ROM will fix it - when it arrives!!
Hi All,
Just to put in my experience.
I have an Audi A4 with a Gen II car kit. As there is no handset holder for the TyTn I am using the Bluetooth function.
I have the Orange SPV M3100 variant, which works absolutley fine with the Audi Bluetooth, with one problem....
As I don't yet have a car charger, when the phone goes into sleep mode, it appears to disable bluetooh (I occasionally get a 'BT OFF' signal on the car display). Switching off bluetooth, then switching on again on the phone tends to kick it back into life where it stays live for another ten minutes or so until the phone dozes off again..
I have heard of a few people who have also diagnosed the problem as possbily the phone going to sleep to conserve battery, and solved the problem with an in car charger. I will report back when I have a charger.
Again, I do not suspect the Audi car kit as I have previoulsy used this (on Bluetooth) with a Nokia 6230 and MDA Vario, with no problems at all (the Vario was externally powered from the car).
Maybe you TyTn owners can flash to the Orange ROM ;-)
Same Scenario Different Cast
I have a Lexus GS with BT.... here's my Undesired results
actually, the only Problem i am having is very annoying.
If i receive or make a call after i pair with the Car kit, EVERY Thing is fine,
The sound quality is good, the response time is good (no Delay).
BUT after that call is ended, the BT itself on the jasjam TURNS off...
so i have to turn the BT on After EVERY Single Call (either made or received)
Is this Normal, I don't think so, but i had to ask
I have the Original Ship ROM Arabic version
My BMW handsfree works just fine with my TyTN. No issues other than an occasional BT off (loss of pairing). Interestingly, it's not sleep mode related since it usually works just fine in that mode. Generally, disabling Bt then re-enabling it re-establishes the connection then all is well. I have no issues making or receiving calls.
No doubt CarKit issues will be addressed when HTC releases their ROM update. Recent information tells me that this update is pretty much guaranteed to be an AKU3.0 variant. There's a tremendous amount of BT stack improvements in this AKU that should improve this as well as A2DP bluetooth issues.
.. No issues other than an occasional BT off (loss of pairing). ..
Interesting! I have the same issue with MTeoR.. I wonder if MteoR and TyTn are based on the same HTC device PLATFORM.
Updated my Parrot CK3100 to the newest version and things still don't work too well. When I start a call on the Parrot it takes around 20 seconds to start dialing on the phone, and when I receive a call I have to pick it up, place it on hold, and retrieve from hold to be able to hear the other side.
I wonder what/why they changed in the Bluetooth stack, it worked perfectly on my Wizard...
Renault Laguna II integrated BT kit
Works OK with my Laguna system except for the signal strength indicator. It appears that this information is not sent or translated onto the screen in the car.... Calls are fine though, and I noticed that the car rings immediately, the moment the phone does. Could be because the TyTN has the "turbo lag" explained in another thread tho
Cheers

Try installing Jetware mobile extender, that adds signal and battery bars as well as network name.
I enabled Remote SIM Acces in the Bluetooth Menu and now my contacts sync on my Audi Bluetooth Car kit with WM 6.1.
Just bought a x7501 and I love it so far with 1 exception, it doesnt appear to like my bluetooth car kit in my 2007 nissan altima
It paired perfectly and everything seemed to go ok, but when I receive a call I can pick it up with the car kit but then it drops the call off the car kit (within 1-2 seconds) then reconnects but without sound (I cant hear people through the device speaker or the car kit). Whats weird is it does not drop the call, it seems to lose connection with the car kit then reestablish (the call timer goes 00:00, 00:01, 00:02, CALL ENDED, 00:00, 00:01, 00:02).
My x7501 seems to work fine with my BT800 headset, and the car kit worked perfectly with my old cingular 8125 (wm5). I did some searching on the forums and saw people with similar issues with car kits but nothing quite like this and nothing specific to this device...On my old 8125 I was using a replacement widcomm stack, is there a replacement stack for the athena I could try to see if it solves my issues?
I have Jetware installed, tried with and without it same problem.

Hi,
try the following:
Before you enter your car, disable bluetooth on the x7501. (Make sure your headset is turned off to prevent autoreconnection from your headset to your x7501)
Enter the car, turn on bluetooth on the x7501 and after that turn on your car kit.
This procedure helped me with nearly the same problem.
Cheers

haha yea i thought about that as i got int the car. sadly i tried it and it didnt work, any other ideas?
Whats weird is the cingular 8525 is on the official approved working devices list on the nissan website. I assume the 8525 uses the default microsoft bt stack which gives me some home. Could it just be registry setting differences between the device that would cause the problem?
Hi,
Some background:
I'm currently working on a carputer project. Everything is working wonderfully and right now I'm going through the final phase of having my HTC Universal (WM6) phone use the car speakers and microphone as headset.
On my computer I am running on Widcomm BT ver 5. The Universal phone is running the MS stack. I managed to pair and connect successfully with my WM6 device. The headset works very nicely both ways, but with a problem:
Whenever a phone call comes in the phone automatically answers the call without even asking me. It rings once then answers. This does not happen while not using a BT headset nor does it happen with my regular portable Samsung BT headset. My universal is set to never receive calls automatically on all profiles. I'm assuming the problem is in the Widcomm driver but there doesn't seem to be anything I can change in the software settings.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I obviously don't want every single call that comes in to get answered. I wouldn't even mind answering the call from the phone itself (and not from the PC) as long as the voice gets routed from the phone to the car stereo with the external mic.
Thanks!
Yaniv
