URGENT CINGULAR ADVICE/HELP!! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I am returning my 8215 for warranty exchange, but there is some slight physical damage (i know i shouldnt have done this)
I needed to plug my cell into my computer for activesync...
but my usb cable (the end tha t goes in the phone) was bent, so i unbent it and stuck it in the phone with some difficulty
I pull it out, and the phone will not charge with the normal charger, instead, I had to plug my usb cable that I used for activesync, which is the only one that works with my cell now, into my ipod usb adapter to charge it! When I examined it, the usb female plug on the 8125 is slightly bent, and only works with that 1 USB cable
So should i return the phone, and risk them charging me if they find this out? Will they find this out and charge me? Or when they say they will are they just threatning you? NO opinions please!
I also heard HTC repairs phones, how much would this cost for them to repair this issue?
Thank you so much for all help!

Just call them and tell them your phone isn't charging anymore. Doesn't hurt to know. If they say it's your fault well, what do you got to lose? Just keep using your sync cable and ipod charger  If they replace it, great don't mess it up again.
As far as HTC...they're on the otherside of the country from us. I'm sure they'll repair it for an x amount of dollars, getting your phone back however will take months.

They won't know if it is bent because you bent it purposely or if it's just a result of repetitive plugging and unplugging. Don't be paranoid. This falls under normal wear and tear and should be covered under the 1 year warranty.

i took it to cingular today and told her the phone people told me to tell the girl to handle the whole exchange process, so she did it, that way, if they try to charge me, I can say the cingular employee did the call not me, and she should have seen any physical damages.

XDA Weird Issues

I got my xda 2 a while back, about 2-3 months, never noticed this before, but, it seems when its in the cradle, and the cradle is plugged into both USB and the DC adapter, the whole phone becomes live, i've had a few (minor) shocks off it, seems there must be some earth leakage somewhere. Anyone had any issues like this? I think its also causing the XDA to hard reset when being dropped into the cradle, its done it a few times, but its gotten really bad latley. anyone any ideas? I dident get it from o2 so i dont know what they'd be like on the RMA, i dont mind paying for a repair if necessary. or will it be easier to buy a new cradle and adapter?
Cheers
Joel
Probably easier and cheaper to buy a new cradle. Strange though, I thought the cradle case was plastic (mine's at home, so can't check). What happens if you use just the dc plug with the push-in convertor? Sure you haven't got a bit of scarf stuck in the xda's pins that's connecting up to the case when you push it home?
rgds,
Alex.
yeh, thets what im thinking, it seems ok if the cradle isnt plugged into usb, i'll try it on a different computer, i have had problems with my laptop and shorting before :/
Well I'd definitely advise against using it in the laptop anymore until you track it down. If current is being passed through the wrong channels, you're running the risk of frying your device. I'm sure you know that
Having just said don't use it on that laptop anymore, how about trying different USB ports to see if you have a port or a mobo problem? Shorts can be very difficult to track down, good luck.
rgds,
Alex.
It should charge without the power if you have usb plugged in, or so I have been told. If you ring O2 service centre on 08081003427 they will ask you how long you have had it, I was not asked who supplied it, I told them I had it less than 3 months and they sent me a cardboard carton to put it in and a bag to send it back, then fixed it and sent it back.
Well its started being really weird now, it seems to randomly hard reset, and it also comes up with backup battery low, but on the battery screen it says is full, does the backup battery recharge itself or is it none rechargeable?

MDA mini USB port falling out, cannot charge...help please

Like it says...
The mini USB port is VERY loose and pretty much falling out. I called Tmo and they will replace the MDA but it will be 7 biz days not includin holidays...which puts it around January 8th (roughly). Because of the loose port, it will not read any usb connections and wont charge. Is there any "band aid" fix for this to get it to charge for at least the next week, until the swap out happens??? I cannot make any real modifications that may nullify my warranty as the new MDA is being shipped under my warranty, but I need to keep my battery charged for at least a week.
And how can I prevent this from happening with the new device I'll be getting to replace this MDA (keep the usb port from getting loose on the device)???
Thank you in advance for any tips, help, and whatever else you can provide.
I had this same thing occur and well, there's no way to fix it short of re-soldering it to the mainboard or as T-Mobile will be doing for yours, replacing the mainboard. Since you're sending it off for warranty replacement 'd strongly reccommend against the solder solution so unless you've seen an external battery charger for this battery type you will have quite a time keeping your phone charged. I'm sorry that your situation is so bad.

Broken MDA charging socket

My phone accidentally fell on the carpet from my desk while it was charging and the charging socket broke and now is loosely stuck inside the charging hole. USB as well as charging aren't functioning. I was about to open it up with the help of the wizard disassembling manual but I don't know what I need to do afterwards. I know I will be sautering but will it be just that simple or will I have to be careful how and what I sauter? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated! I would contact T-Mobile but my warranty has already expired.
Well, the USB port falling out/in is pretty common problem that is covered under warranty (as long as you haven't "dropped" the device).
Post warranty replacement is $100, still a pretty good deal. If you clobber the device when you take it apart, I suspect you may be out of luck on the $100 out of warranty replacement.
I suggest Pocketpc Techs..costs 60 dollars to fix it. If not then just get a seperate battery charger and bluetooth usb to sync. Goodluck!
Thanks
Thanks everyone for getting back to me. Ever since the MDA broke, life has been a mess. Schedules are all messed up and I forget my appointments, hence the late reply to your comments. Clems, you said there is an external battery charger that can be purchased? Where can I find this charger? I will look up the procedures for sync the MDA with bluetooth.
Even if you decide to just use an external charger and bluetooth sync, you should try to remove that loose usb plug. If its rattling around in there loose, who knows what components or solder pads it might touch and short out. You might endup totally killing your phone

[Q] Charging problem

Hey all,
It seems my HTC HD2 is unable to receive any kind of charge. I've used a different usb cable, my roommate's myTouch 4G cable and a friend's HD2 cable, and they all cannot charge my phone as well. My phone doesn't recognize any cable that is being plugged into it. I've made sure I'm in the right USB connection setting, checked the little 3 gold prongs where my battery receives (electricity?) from the phone to make sure those aren't situated in an odd bent position, but alas nothing. Could it do something with the actual part on my HD2 that the cables plug into? Phone is currently dead and I have no phone and am out of warranty. Is it a part I can easily replace?
Thanks for your help!
Edit: It seems the HD2 was launched on March 16 so I'm a couple of days past the 1 year mark fo warranty. Do you think I could persuade tmobile or HTC into replacing my phone even though it this slim out of warranty?
Does your lex still show that the battery is charving when you plug your HD2 up to your charger? If so you may have a faulty battery. If not then it could be a hardware or software problem. I suggest you buy another battery and see if
Nope, the chord isn't even recognized. It's as if nothing is plugged in when in fact something is.
Sounds like a broken microUSB port. Unnless you have a warranty, you're out of luck. To replace the port, you'd need a whole new mainboard.
Yes if your HD2 is not recognizing the USB cable then yes it sounds like you have a bad mini USB port on your HD2. You can try a hard reset if you want to but make sure to back up all your personal information first, but I kinda doubt it will do you any good to hard reset. You will have to get the main board replaced if this is your issue, wi h I believe it is. You can either find a cell phone repair shop or do it yourzlc ic you feel comfortable enough doing it. replacing the mainboard requires no soldering as all the ribbons just plug in. You just need to be gental with everything as you are working on it.
Now to get you by until you can either fix the phone or just to be abale to harvesting the battery for day to day use. You can by a external charger. Or you can take a old USB cable or buy a cheap USB cable and cut the end off of it. Strip it back a little and the zrip back the red and black wires a little. With a little tape attack the red wire to the positive(+) battery terminal and the black wire to the negative (-) battery terminal. Then plug the cable into your wall charger, don't worry the oltage comming out the wires is very low and will not hurt you, in fact you can not even feel it. They are marked on the battery. I do suggest just using this as a very temporary fix until you can vet an external charger or get your HD2 fixed as I do not know if this may be detramental to your battery with long term use. Also I give credit to Senior Member Samsamuel for this idea as he is the one I learned it from.
I contacted HTC and they confirmed the phone is still under warranty. The problem is I'm running CM7 on my phone so I'm asssuming when they start it up and view I have a 3rd party ROM, they'll void my warranty. I would rather fix it myself personally but I don't know anything nor do I really want to touch/pay for a new mainboard. But if my phone does get it's warranty voided, I'll have to pay either way. I think I might just go ahead and buy an external battery charger until i figure out what to do

magldr wont let battery charge when phone is off.
No fault with phone, dead battery and user error.
Use another hd2 that isnt running magldr to charg ebattery, OR use friends battery to flash to winmo and use winmo to charge battery, OR take an old usb cable, mini or micro, cut end off, find red and black wires, connect red to + black to - on the battery (the markings are on there faintly) and plug in to wall charger for a half minute or so then try start phone with real usb cable plugged in. should be enough charge to boot far enough into android for the charging to start. If nothing at all happens, then maybe there is really a problem.
You can hold the wires on by hand, you wont feel it, or i used tape.

stock ROM. download it, extract the .NBH from the .exe, stick the .NBH on the SD card and rename it to LEOIMG. Hold volume down + power when the phone is off.
may i repeat, just to confirm you considered this before you go about getting it repaired,, , if the battery is flat and magldr is installed, the phone wont charge.nothing will happen when you plug in usb.

Faulty USB Connecter in phone. Unchargeable.

My usb port is faulty. It wiggles a bit and wont allow the phone to charge unless i hold the usb cable in an exact certain position. What is worse it cannot connect to PC as zune wont recognise it. I tried various cables and various PCs. Same problem.
HTC say the usb port is not covered in the warranty and want to charge me between £60 - £100 to repair it.
i am hoping there is a quick diy fix.
Anyone please?
For the charging issue, you could just buy a battery charger. That obviously won't help when it comes to updating your phone though.
If you, or someone you know, has soldering skills, you can get a new USB connector for $4 Canadian off eBay. Even if you have to bring it to a shop to get it done, I'm sure it'll be a lot cheaper than what HTC want to charge you.
Thanks. Already bought the battery charger. Will look into the usb self repair. Any videos on taking HD2 apart?
