Is it possible??? I have tryed several things... Activesync 4.0 first won't install on windows 98, but I got activesync 3.0 to install. Then I hook my Cingular 8125 up through USB and clicked next for activesync to find my phone and it dosen't find it. Now I haven't tryed USBswitch... and If that does work I need it in Cab for pocket install, but if that doesn't... then read on....
I even went as far as to download daemon tools to see if I could emulate windows xp, but sad to say, the newest version dosen't support windows 98 anymore (sound familiar??) Good, because I downloaded a down graded version of daemon tools and got a wear error saying it can't find my SIDI driver or something like that (LONG story short and 3 hours later I'm fed up with my emulation tricks, my outdated computer, and all the ERRORs that come with It.....)
If there is some way I could emulate Xp that would be nice... Or even better, hack my Activesync 3.0 to make it able to find my 8125 (then again is it even compatable with windows 98??) Or maybe an alternet way or progy to access my cingular through USB. would sooo tickle the fancy (and maybe the fancy of others in my situation too)... Who knows, any suggestions or tips, or articles or anything would much be obliged.

First, the bright side of the situation: your portable device is probably more stable than the desktop PC.
I think the most you're going to get to happen is moving a miniSD card from the one to the other.

as u can c, activesync 3.8 is the version thats supported in 98, but from experience, USB support in 98 wasnt that good :?
maybe if u have BT or IR u could sync with that =S
or u could try upgrading to xp.

I have a couple of games that keeps my GF busy that I'm trying to install on my TyTn that install through ActiveSync.
I'm running Windows Vista on two out of my three machines, and now most PPC tasks are handled through WMDC, which doesn't seem to allow for software installation.
I believe ActiveSync is supposedly a thing of the past in Vista, but is there any way I can get these apps installed without installing ActiveSync on my other XP machine and going through that whole process?
This is the release version of Windows Mobile Device Center 6 for Windows Vista.
It has all functions of ActiveSync, and allows for software install.

Well, I just bought a Vista laptop, then I read at the website below that Vista will not sync with Outlook 2002. Other than getting a newer version of Outlook (which I can not afford to do), is there any way of getting Outlook 2002 to work with Vista? Or perhaps is there some other solution that I'm not thinking about? Thanks!

Well Vista kind of sucks, at least for a developer like me, but since that is what you have I have an idea that might work nicely for you. If you are serious about using email, calendar, contacts on a wizard then the way to do it is using an exchange server. It just so happens that www.mailstreet.com the biggest Exchange outsourcing company gives you a downloadable version of Outlook 2003 with you mailstreet subscription. You also get wireless active sync which kind of fixeds your original problem in another way. You don't ever need to plug your device into the computer again to sync it! You also get Outlook web access which is kick ass also. With the newer roms AKU 2 and up you get push email from exchange server which is also pretty kick ass!
I have many exchange accounts from mailstreet and they are top notch. For a single account plus active sync wireless access it will cost you about $16 per month US.

Because I'm a poor student and I can't afford any more than the $200 that the 2125 would cost me.
You can get a Dash or 3125 for PRETTY close to that. I'd go for either of those and at least use something that is still supported!
Both are exceptional devices.

I am having issues syncing my niki to my desktop. I have been able to sync to my laptop which is running 32 bit Vista Ultimate, but whenever I try and sync it to my desktop running 64 bit Vista Ultimate I get the error saying I need activesync 4.5 or newer to complete the sync. Both machines are up todate as far as updates and both have windows mobile device center installed.????
I would like to know whether anyone has a problem syncing their 02 XDA Atom running windows mobile 5.0 with windows 7 Home premium.I plugin phone with USB to my Win 7 and my windows can't even recognise my phone.
I am trying to pinpoint whether this is specific to my own hardware issue or is this something that everybody else experiencing with their 02 XDA Atom phone.

if your PC using Win 7, of course you have to use WMDC to sync with your device..

I want to snyc my phone with outlook, but when I connect my device and open Windows Mobile Device Center and click snyc, I get error. I can't snyc it :S
This is error:
Your device cannot synchronize with the current Outlook profile on the desktop. This may be because a different profile was used to set up synchronization with your device, or because the profile is password-protected. Please open Outlook using the appropriat.
I reinstalled Windows Mobile Device Center and it's still the same error. My Outlook profile has no password, I don't even have e-mail profile in Outlook, I just want to transfer contacts.
What should I do, please help me
You may need to update drivers @ Cibale! to more easily use Ms. WMDC for Windows Vista (32 or 64- bit) you can get in :

I don't have vista, I'm using win 7.. drivers on my PC are always up to date because of win 7 automatic (driver) updates
