well version 4 works flawlessly for me.

thats from the readme, yet i'm still having the same issues, my activesync keeps disconnecting by itself.. i reinstalled, downgraded, upgraded, etc. still keeps disconnecting while syncing

Works fine for me via usb to my magician.

using it on my Mini. Works well but no big WOW on it. Bout the same using 3.8

I think the transport protocols are refined but im not sure.
Works fine via bluetooth also!

Activesync or USBswitch for cingular 8125 on Window 98

Is it possible??? I have tryed several things... Activesync 4.0 first won't install on windows 98, but I got activesync 3.0 to install. Then I hook my Cingular 8125 up through USB and clicked next for activesync to find my phone and it dosen't find it. Now I haven't tryed USBswitch... and If that does work I need it in Cab for pocket install, but if that doesn't... then read on....
I even went as far as to download daemon tools to see if I could emulate windows xp, but sad to say, the newest version dosen't support windows 98 anymore (sound familiar??) Good, because I downloaded a down graded version of daemon tools and got a wear error saying it can't find my SIDI driver or something like that (LONG story short and 3 hours later I'm fed up with my emulation tricks, my outdated computer, and all the ERRORs that come with It.....)
If there is some way I could emulate Xp that would be nice... Or even better, hack my Activesync 3.0 to make it able to find my 8125 (then again is it even compatable with windows 98??) Or maybe an alternet way or progy to access my cingular through USB. would sooo tickle the fancy (and maybe the fancy of others in my situation too)... Who knows, any suggestions or tips, or articles or anything would much be obliged.

First, the bright side of the situation: your portable device is probably more stable than the desktop PC.
I think the most you're going to get to happen is moving a miniSD card from the one to the other.

as u can c, activesync 3.8 is the version thats supported in 98, but from experience, USB support in 98 wasnt that good :?
maybe if u have BT or IR u could sync with that =S
or u could try upgrading to xp.

Connect to vista?

has anyone actually been able to syn with vista ??
if so - amI missing something obvious - all i get is an option to connect to sync media files.....

BTW this was already on other thread...

I assumed that I as I have the full vista premium, i did not need to download a beta product.....

unfortunately it seems the include windows mobile device centre in Vista caters to transfer and sync of AV media files but if you want the Activesync capabilities then you still need to download the beta version (3 i think still) from Microsoft to sync with PDA's

nod, and my thanks - lets just say that installing vista was... an entertaining experience!

Old ipaq h1915

Hi,
i've found an ipaq h1915 and would like to use it on my vista.
but because it is still a windows mobile 2002 and vista needs atleast 2003, i can't use it.
can someone help me with this prob.

Just kidding. Didn't know Vistas device center does not support old PPCs. One more reason not to use this crappy OS.
Unfortunately as far as I know there is no update for that model.
You could check out HP site, but I doubt you will find anything. Your best bet is to download ActiveSync 3.8 (google it since MS no longer provides downloads) or even 4.5 (from MS site) and see if Vista lets you install and run it.

i also had the idee to download the active sync 4.5, but as usually doesn't work on vista because vista has a program of it's own for that.
called mobile device center, installed it... gues what doesn't work on windows mobile versions before 2003

sync problems on Vista

Hi all!
Yesterday I bought an XDA Exec PDA mobile and I've got a little problem with it. I can't sync with Vista.
I found a notification which says:
Note: Microsoft ActiveSync works only with Windows XP SP2 or earlier. If you have Windows Vista, your synchronization settings will be managed through the Windows Mobile Device Center. Windows Mobile Device Center is available through the Windows Mobile Device Center page.
If I know well I need ActiveSync to...sync. I've visited the "Windows Mobile Device Center page", downloaded the software and installed but nothing happened. I've already tryed to refresh the driver named...some kind of Adapter #2 (...) No matter. Still doesn't work.
I managed to install Windows Mobile Center but ActiveSync still cannot be installed.
Help, please!
