I am currently using i mate JAM with Windows Mobile 2003 and i have got a new JAMIN with me now.
I want to transfer all my data including messages to the new device.
Syncronizing will not transfer any messages right?
How is the best way to proceed and what are the options to transfer the messages.
Also i want to avoid any conflicts with my pc currently the sync is PC to PHONE always.
i need to keep it that way for JAMIN as well. How to do that.
Hi,
I have just started to use Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook. It basically provides an Inbox/Outbox/Sent Items type folders in outlook that sync with your text messages.
This would allow you to keep all your text messages. Simply sync the JAM first to keep your messages. Then sync the JAMin to transfer them to it.
You can use it for a 7 day trial so it would do you for the transfer without the need to even purchase it. I have bought as it is handy for the enevitable hard resets.

I have an XDA2 with ActiveSync 3.7.
Is there a way to backup the SMS messages in my Inbox and Sent Items to my PC using ActiveSync?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
You can use third party to backup

I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I really want to find a way to move a whole load of texts from my phone to my PC but I would like to be able to refer to them on the PC.
The Jeyo application does everything you've asked for and has been reliable for me.
I use Jeyo Mobile Extender.
It's pretty cool, keeps all your messages in a .pst on your computer. So you can periodically delete all the messages on your device and still keep all your history on the computer.
Integrates well with Outlook. I think you can get a 14 day trial too.

hi all,
i'm looking for a tool that can sent sms messages from my desktop pc,
maby there is a plug-in or so for active sync to sync sms, just like the email sync function
thnx
Hi, I use the Jeyo Mobile Extender since a year
http://www.jeyo.com/
Works like a charme
Pocket Controller is another option, lets you control you phone etc. from your PC, a bit like doing a remote desktop connection. You can type and send texts, initiate calls etc. in fact just about anything you would normally do with the phone in your hand

Is it now possible to synchronise subfolders of your SMS account? The versions I tested did not offer this, which is ridiculous.
Hi All,
I just got a MDA Vario (HTC Wizard) from T-mobile (UK) and installed Activesync 4.1 OK (well it caused my Windows XP machine to crash before I updated the Nforce2 Motherboard drivers!).
Now, I can install & remove programs OK.
But I can't get my emails and contacts etc from Windows Outlook 2003 (Office Pro 2003 SP2) to my Vario - even though activesync does a synchronisation??
Also contacts generated on the Vario don't end up on the PC outlook 2003 either??
Any ideas ? Before I have to manually enter all my contacts & addresses??
Cheers
John
for me active sync works first time out of the box.
you chould have a look at all the options and make sure they look sensible. Under options-->sync options. make sure contacts is ticked and settings look correct to you.
As your device is new, I believe you are entitled to free support from microsoft for 60 days and for tmobile for the life of your contract. I don't know about tmobile support but I have always found the microsoft technical helpline extremely good, and surprisingly few consumers use it!

Thanks for that - it must be something to do with mt desktop PC as I loaded Activesync 4.1 on my centrino laptop and got my contacts onto my MDA without any problems? Both are using the same Windows XP Corp so I don't think it's a windows issue and the only real difference between the laptop and the Desktop is that there is a ADSL/Router with Firewall connected to the Desktop, which may be upsetting the transfer of data from Outlook?
I did try a Bluetooth connection but that didn't work either??
Strange that I can load/unload programs, browse my PDA through Activesync but I cannot exchange data from Outlook 2003 to the PDA??
this could also be a problem with your outlook profiles. i.e. it could be that it is syncing, but with a new profile that does not include your old data. Have a look at the outlook options.
The extreme way to deal with it, is to export or backup all your outlook contacts and diary and other data. Uninstall outlook, rebnoot and make sure you delete the folder under program files. Then reinstall fresh. Setup to sync with PDA and then reimport all your old settings. Although this is a last resort.
Well do to a corruption of my root hard drive MBR I had to reformat and re-install windows (A nice long job!) - and would you believe it, that the newly installed activesync is now working properly - ie emails and contacts are synchronised on both the Desktop PC and my Vario???
Oh well I'll know next time !
Cheers

Hi All,
Please excuse this question, complete novice here.
I run Gmail & have integrated it using POP with my PC Outlook 2002. This works fine & allows syncronisation with my XDA EXEC.
However, If I send an email from my EXEC I need to Sync with my PC.
Is there a way that I can also pick up my gmail from the exec when away from my pc.
I have tried, but end up with a second account setup on the exec.
If I go this way I will end up with duplicate copies of all emails, from both the exec - gmail & outlook gmail.
Any Help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Sean
Unfortunately, that is the only way to go about it. The only consolation is that you can set up to download headers only and then d/load the full versions of important messages while away from the PC. I have duplicate settings for the past week of mails and headers set to 5KB each w/out Attachments
Hi,
running winxp pro sp2 with Active sync 4.2 and Intellisync 5.5 (trial)
I would love some help as to the best way to sync from Outlook to My orange SPV M3100 as I am having no end of problems.
The reason that I feel I need Intellisync is that I have several different contacts folders in Outlook, which all need to end up on my SPV. Activesync does not seem to allow this.
1) is there a better programme than Intellisync for multi outlook contact files, as although I realised this is a trial, it keeps hanging when updating (on record 39 of 5300)? - I did manage to get it to do the first sync, but can no longer update...I don't feel pre-disposed to pay for it, if I cannot get it to work.
2) Is there a way to delete all the contacts on my spv in one go..without doing a hard reset? What is the file name that holds the contacts?
3) Where did the "backup" function go on Activesync?..There used to be a way of doing a back-up of the phone that could reinstall everthing the way it was pre a hard reset.
many thanks.
