I uninstalled the boingo mobile and now i have no utility for my wireless networks. The Comm manager turns on the WIFI but does not have anything to search for the networks.
Is there a way to get the wireless network finder?
Have you got SSID Broadcasting turned on at your router?
(yes its broadcasting) Thats not the problem. When you click on network cards , when the WIFI is on you get the ability to add a network now i just get a list of drivers.

Hi
I have a WiFi network at home (802.11g), the network does not broadcast a network name and also has 64bit WEP security active.
When I turn on Wirless Lan On I cannot find my network.
When im out and about and turn Wireless Lan On, I can connect to any network thats available.
Has anyone got any ideas how i can setp up my PDA to work with my Wireless Network at home?
Many thanks
Matt
I've recently successfully enabled my XDA Mini S to talk to my home router over WiFi.
Does anyone have advice on how to enable "self discovery" of WiFi network, such as in aiports, cofee house etc
Thanks, balquidder

Networks that have already been configured (ie connected to and the WEP key entered etc) are classed as 'Preferred Networks. In the WLAN configurator, you can tick the checkbox which says 'Automatically connect to non-preferred networks', and this will search and (attempt to ) connect to any available network, preferred or not.
When this box is checked, the PDA will detect any new networks and give you the opportunity to configure them (if needed).
Hope this helps.
I have used this quite a bit when out and about - several hotels I have stayed at have had hotspots and I have had no issue in connecting with them and using the net as I would at home.
I go ino my comm manager and enable wifi, then it picks up my security enabled linksys router. Which has worked in the past, the only thing thats changed since the last time i actually transfered any data over wifi, was installing my minisd sandisk card, and the .net network.
Whenever i try to hit any website, or check any mail connections setup in my out look i get...
"Cannot Connect
Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap settings"
Any suggestions?
Are other devices able to access the internet using wifi and this router?
Can you access your router with PIE? http://192.168.1.1
What are your settings in Settings>Connections>Connections>Advanced>Select Networks and Settings>Connections>Network Cards>Network Adapters ?
Try deleting your router entry from the list in
Settings>Connections>Network Cards>Wireless
Then establish a new connection with the router and when prompted choose
This network connects to the The Internet.
Would like to know is there any way to connect to wifi hidden network?
All of my devices (ie. Laptop, PSP, Windows Mobile PDA) are able to connect to the hidden network but the Magic can't. Any idea to do this?
Mine wifi connection is hidden (I didn't broadcast the SSID). If the I enabled the SSID broadcast, then only it can connect.
Do share some experience on this since I can't find any additional settings on the Magic.
Thanks!
settings>wireless controls>wifi settings>add wifi>fill in from there.
My old neighbor hide his wifi and i just typed in the name that used to pop up in the ssid and it worked just fine. I had to do it with every comp and wifi devise in our house.

Yep it's working. Thanks a lot!
We have to add it manually. Previously what I've done is I've unhide the wifi connection and broadcast the SSID in order for the Magic to see it. From there I've added the network to the Magic. Then I've set the network to hidden mode again. After that, the Magic won't connect to the hidden network. Main point is that it seems to remember whether the network is hidden or not when the network is added into the list.
** Windows Mobile does have an option to determine whether the selected network is a hidden network or not
I got my HTC Hero today but I seem to be having problems connecting it to internet either over wifi or mobile data network. When I list the wireless networks I click on the desired AP, input the correct password and all I get is "connecting.." and after a while "disconnected". I can use the wireless network on my laptop without problems. The wireless networks I tried were WPA2 Personal, WEP and Open (tried different AP routers). It doesn't even try connecting to gprs even thought I enabled it in the settings. I upgraded the HTC Hero's firmware to the latest found on their support site, but I still get the same problem.
Anyone know what problems I might be experiencing or how I might fix it?
