I am trying to create a personalized reg file, but I can't figure out how to remove keys from the registry. Anyone know how?
Put "-" sign without quotes before key. I'm not sure if it works on PDA but it works on PC
Thanks, but I already tried that. I am either doing something wrong, or it doesnt work for WM5. Everything else I have tried that works for a normal reg file does work though, its just the removing of keys I am having a problem with. Any other suggestions?

I have an XDA Exec (HTC UNIVERSAL) Ive been searching for days to a solution for this without avail and you guys seem to know what your talking about! Im very new to this and need a solution to this error when i try to install some applications and run them:

Is your phone locked ?
It may be locked or your operator prevent installing all of 3d party applications. In this case reinstalling "clean" WM5 may help (I'm not sure though) - I'm only a newbie in WM5.
Another reason that application you run trying access trusted functions - like allocation of the physical memory. In this case I'm not sure what can be done - reinstallation of WM5 will not help.
Its unlocked! so if i re-install wm5 it wont say this when i install programs? i have tried resetting the phone and installing different roms but nothing works! is there any particular rom i should be looking to install? or anything i can put in the extended rom to install after a hard reset to sort this out? PLZ HELP!
I have had that problem, too and I was going crazy. Then I tried the following tweak but I do not really know why it should work, it just did:
in HKLM\System\ObjectStore is a reg key "RegistryType=1", which means Hive based registry.
When you set it to "RegistryType=0", which means FILE based registry, all changes you do in the registry will stay there also if you reboot with device's reset button...
BUT AFTER YOU CHANGE THIS VALUE, FIRST REBOOT HAS TO BE DONE WITH SOME SOFTWARE, NOT WITH THE RESET BUTTON.
Subsequent reboots can be done with reset button then. :lol:
there is another tweak that gets rid of the warning messages, but I did not use that one
really! which software could i use to reboot the phone??
also is resco registry okay to view and change this? it says registry type 0x0 (1) i have now changed it to 0x0 (0) is this correct? i performed a soft reset but im stil getting the error message! is this because i need to use software to reboot?
yep, the first soft reboot needs to be done with software. After that you can use the usual way again.
After I had done this I removed all "problem apps" and then reinstalled them and it worked.

Does anyone have ideas about following subject: Word Mobile and Media Player (that preinstalled) do not work properly. Word refuses to open any doc file, even create a new one saying "cannot open the document because of the problemt with it" (or someting like this), mediaplayer simply does not start saying nothing at all and, of course, does not open files, associated with it.
That situation apeared after soft reset, when both applications were running. (Reason of the reset is - IE hang up).
Please help me to find any way to make that progs work without hard-resetting the system.
Maybe there are any common for that progs registry entries or smth like this?

word seems to keep a record of previously opened files...and if u move the templates (in my documents folder) word also gives the same error...i dunno exactly what i did to solve it but now is working in my case...i did 2 things and it started to work, dunno exactly wich one solved it or in what order i did it:
- copied a .txt from desktop and tryed to open it with pocket word edited it and saved it...
- tryed to open my docs\templates\blank document.dot from within total commander...
I am trying to change some registry settings to do things such as 'adjust volume settings' 'adjust backlight settings' 'turn bluetooth on and off' etc etc.
I want to use mort script to make the changes but so far I haven't figured out how to make the changes take effect without a soft reset, even when making the changes with a registry editor.
Does anyone know how to do this so that the changes take effect immediately?
Any help appreciated.
two things:
1st: all of the things you mentioned above should work without a reset. the best thing to do is change the reg value manully and if it works with out a reset then you know the problem is in the mort script
2nd: If you know how to edit xml files then download this cab and edit the xml file how you want. this should help some

Like I said, using a registry editor to change the settings does not take effect until I soft reset.
For example (and i'd appreciate it if someone could test this on their phone) changing the values in HKCU\ControlPanel\Volume...."Volume" and "Ringer" to 0 assuming it is not already set to silent does not actually turn the phone to silent until I soft reset.
Could someone please check this for me and report back.
BTW I'm using a Trinity (HTC P3600) with AX3L's LITE ROM.

I tried it and it did not work, you sould try to edit the xml file in the program i told you about and try it there. when i get done with homework i will try it my self
Registry value is read by windows while loading. In case of desktop pc if you restart the explorer process the registry gets loaded. you need to find some way to load the registry again.

Hi, I believe I have quite a big problem here. I read somewhere else on this site that if certain .NET CF programs did not run, then to delete the enitre LocalMachine/Software/Microsoft/.NET something something registry entry. I did this, soft reset my phone, and of course, now all .net programs wont run. I've tried reinstalling with a cab file, copying and pasting OEM files, and going into the registry and changing the key in the .net folder that enables version 3.5. If anyone has a solution to this please let me know because I depend on .NET CF for almost all of my programs.

You may have to hard reset. If you didn't backup, I suggest you start to. Or, try adding the key you deleted. You should never mess with the system/registry if you don't backup!
I agree. A hard reset is your best bet. I've made similiar mistakes as well. I've tried reinstalling the affected programs, all I ended up doing was getting numerous error messages. It's really hard trying to figure out which programs are affected and which are not. I lost a lot of important data, but it taught me the importance of backing up my work.
Man, that sucks. If its possible, could anyone who has an xv6900 post the registry keys for net cf 3.5? I'm going to try reinstalling an older version, back to 2.0 SP1. If that doesn't work, I'll let you know.
Edit: I installed 2.0 SP1 and it still doesnt work. I'm starting to think it's not a registry problem though, because I search around and this seems to be an assembly problem or something. It says it can't find Microsoft.WindowsMobile.Utilities and it gives me this keytoken: '31bf3856ad364e35'. If that means anything please let me know.
Edit: Woohoo! I fixed it! sort of. I downloaded dll files of the Microsoft.WindowsMobile.******** assemblies i was missing and pasted them in the program folders for the programs that need netcf. However, I will have to keep doing this unless I can find a registry key that points to where the dll is. If anyone has a registy key that points to Microsoft.WindowsMobile.Utilities and Forms please post it here so I can copy it.

Seeking some help regarding the keyboard fix for tilt2. It was working fine for me when I use one of the official EUR 6.5 ROMs. I just flashed to a 6.5 WWE Hong Kong ROM with CHT and the cab is not working. I believe possibly because of the different IME for Chinese or the newer version of the ROM?
Instead of a cab is there some keys I can change/add to registry to fix that problem? It's driving me crazy not able to type properly...

I eneded up using the hwkeyboard cab to get the right FN and shift key....then I added takrim's keyboard control and reassigned all the keys to the correct place. Here's the XML file you can load to get all the keys...unzip and open keyboard config -> load -> and choose the xml file.
thanks for the xml, im having an issue with my numbers and symbols not working and this one seemed to remap it correctly when i put it into the keyboard config. However, the OK button is the FN button, and the FN button is caps lock, and im not sure what the capslock/shift button does (but it doesn't do anything when i press it)! . Is there a way to swap them in the config? i tried to do it myself but could only find how to create a rule and i dont think thats correct. Thanks!
install Toleraen's Tilt2KWKeyboard cab....for my initial testing it fix the FN and shift key but nothing else...
so now I have both the hwkeyboard cab installed - to fix FN and shift. Then use keyboard config + my XML for the rest.

I got to modify your 'Keyboardconfig.xml" one-by-one as it is not working for mine. This may due to different ROM version. Anyway, attached my copy of .xml file & I'm using WME version of ROM. Hope this help those having same problem.
