dialing application hanging - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

hello all,
the phone application in my I-mate k-jam does not dial, it receives fine and i can talk. but whenever i try to dial a number it just displays dialing... and waits there and does not end the call if i press the end button. until after a min the app closes.
i reflashed it with the newst k-jam rom but same result.
what can i do?
edit: if i leave the phone dialing after a few minutes it tells me operation faild.
the phone is not in flight mode if any...

i tried with a different sim card, the phone dialed ok. this is weird. what can it be?

Sometimes the contacts on the sim get dirty, have you tried cleaning all the contacts - device and sim?

how should i clean them? and i noticed that it does not show the name of the contact while i imput the number(manual dialing) while it used to previously.

Just clean them with tissue or lint cloth or a screen wipe - just dont get any fluid on or in the sim. Its often grease or fluff etc.. If that does not work maybe new sim from your operator.

hahaha silly me, i thought you were talking about the stored contacts (people s numbers) hahahah

tried that, didn't work. how come it receives the calls fine and i can see the contacts from the simcard. it's just the phone application hanging when dialing a number

Unbeleivable. hahaha . i use a postpaid card with a call cost limit feature. i thought that this feature was inforced by the phone since i used to reset it from the phone. when i switched to the k-jam it does not show the call cost limit but it still inforces it . i put the sim card in a friend's phone and lo and behold it shows an amount of 0 units available and it does not allow me to dial , i reset the limit and IT'S ALIVE .
Now how can i manage this feature from the k-jam, it seams it's a sim feature and it requires entering the pin2 code to modifie it.
if not tool is available maybe i can right one if pointed to the right API to use.
Thank you all.

Left the plane & all hell froze! Qtek auto-rebooting, WH

I just got back from Dubai this morning, and I recieved my first call from the plane. Fine, it worked.... but then...
disaster struck!
The phone has the "no signal" message when I click on the reception icon. I've tried to click the "turn phone off" button but nothing works...
I can't get into the phone settings in the start menu to change networks...
I'm trying to back-up to SD to do a hard reset, but the phone re-boots itself every 4 minutes! The device is also very slow in responding to the commands. E.G. when I place my phone code it takes 3 seconds just to type in the number... strange! I have 48 / 64 MB free in memory and a 256 MB SD card...
I can't connect to activesync because the decive is not being recognized. So I can't transfer anything through the USB... it's gotta be some kind of manual un-locking from the phone itself...
I took out the sim card and am using a crappy nokia until I get this deal fixed.
I searched the forum for possible solutions and some came close, but none popped the cherry...
Have any of you experienced this specific situation? Is there anything I can do to recover my data before hard-reseting the Qtek? I made about 30 new contacts on the recent trip and was going to sync when I got home from the airport... but the 1010 keeps passing out on me!! It's like giving a date a full bottle of Crystal Champange before hitting the bedroom... Sucks!
All my appoinments are on the phone for tomorrow.. it's 2:11AM if anyone can get back soon with instructions or any previous posting, please let me know.. E-mail me... SOMEBODY SAVE MY SOUL!!
HELP!
sorry to hear about ur problem, must be awful
I dunno if any one can save ur soul, but if worst comes to worst, Ill buy ur soul off of u, just gimmie a good price
thanx, an good luck
Does the phone reboot even if plugged into the power? Also have you tried a soft reset with the sd card removed?
try also to remove the SIM or try another one. some of them are faulty.
I had a similar but less traumactic problem in the phone part wouldn't work at all. Turned out that error messages can be saved on the sim card and block functions. Removing and re inserting the sim is enough to clear the block in my case.
Good luck.

Text message problem

Hi there, please help me out. I have the O2 mini and been using it for half a year and all of a sudden I can't read any text messages. I see I have unread messages but nothing can be read.
Also sometimes, it shows 0k along the righthand side of the screen from top to bottom but nothing can be read again. Does anyone know why?
What happens when you put the SIM card in another phone? Can you read SMS then? It sounds like the XDAII isn't getting the complete SMS from the network.
I tried inserting the sim card into another 02 mini and it works so something must of happened to my phone. my current rom is
1.11.00wwe
radio version: 1.11.00
extrom version: 1.11.922 wwe
Please help. My phone still has warranty and I have a relative going back to the country where the phone was bought so I'm thinking if I should get them to bring it to the store where I got.
Also, does anyone think upgrading the firmware will make a difference? If yes please let me know which one I should use. I am in Canada.
Why don you try a hard reset..!

A hard reset means pressing the reset button (the small hole on the lower left hand side of the handset case) and holding down the power button simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. The phone will then reboot. Be sure to save your contacts to your SIM and back up any pics to an MMC or SD card if you have one inserted in the SDIO slot.
thanks for the help. I did a hard reset then reinstall my rom and now it works.....strange....oh well it works now thanks for the input
SMS problem
hey all sorry to jack this topic but my jam sends duplicate sms's. not all the time but every now and then i get friends saying they got the same msg twice? i've checked my bills and i'm not being charged for the extra sms. i know that this happens occassionaly because of the networks but this is happening to much and becoming a bit of a pain!
No problem, 2k3silver.
boh113, I have this problem from time to time as well with my MDA II. Sometimes I try sending a reply but the network simply won't send it because I won't get a on-screen confirmation and the MDA II won't immediately store the sent SMS in the "Sent Messages" folder. However, the SMS does get sent and then the recipient tells me that they got the SMS more than once.
A hard reset seems to be the best solution since the ROM probably gets corrupted/unreliable with time.
Do you guys use any task management app to make the default tmail.exe application to close rather minimize? Dont! tmail.exe application should be minimized and i think that causes the problem of sending multiple sms.. Try it cz i may not be very sure..
Regards
Carty..
That could be the issue but not for me since I don't use any kind of task manager. Even if I did, I would have tried ending after reading about your suggestion. Is tmail.exe the general SMS/e-mail program on MDAs using T-Mobile ROMs?
Yeah the default mail application..Tmail.exe! That application should be minimized and not closed.. Cz when i used to close it with wisbar before, i had the same problem but now ive made the settings in wisbar to minimize it and now it goes fine..
Regards
Carty..
Thanks for the clarification. I did a soft reset this morning and the SMS that had been stuck in the Drafts folder for a couple hours was sent right after I tapped Send.

SIM card not inserted - anyone else had this problem?

Hi all,
Just got home, looked at my mobile and it said there was no signal - so I turned it off and back on again, then it said there was no SIM inserted. Keep restarting the phone, keeps saying the same thing. Why?!
Am going to try it in my old SE K850i to see if it's the SIM card or the phone at fault.
In the mean time, does anyone else know of this fault and how to fix..?
I didn't the drop the phone or anything, it was just in my pocket, on it's own - like it always is!
Cheers
Tried it in my K850, works fine. Please someone help
yeah i usually dont put the sim card all the way in but slightly in and it works
I've re-opened this thread due to me misreading....DOH! Apologies (Mental note to one self.......follow own advice and read before posting).

Rick
you could try to clean the contacts on the sim card connector of the phone with a q-tip, and see if that solves the problem.
also check if any of those contacts appears to be bent or something, and so doesn't make a connection with the card.
Everytime I open the back up to remove the SD card, I get the SIM card missing bit even though I have not touched it! My HD is only 3 months old and it has done this from the start. I just have to remove it a bit - shove it back in and the phone accepts it is there. Annoying but not enough for me to send it back.
hmm, maybe try to make the sim a bit thicker so it doesnt move around (it shouldn't move by removing the back cover, but it seems to happen on your phone / sim combination.
try putting a thin piece of paper on top of the sim (not the contacts side, but the side facing to the battery cover)
maybe that prevents this problem?
Missing simcard
I have the same problem with my simcard. Though something strange happens when the phone is off for more then 10min, it works fine and notices there is a simcard for like 30 sec after which the error pops-up again. I have tried all of the above things, my simcard works fine in my other phone, adding some paper to thicken it doesn't work either
Anyone who could help me with this?
P.S. sorry for the bad english
As in post 7# written, put some papersheet in the simholder above your simcard to increase the contactpreasure. This surely helps.
Tis trick is also useful for all dualsim users who thik the dualsimadapter does not work in their device (but after using this trick get astonished!)
for Thysiey:
Try to switch to Gsm mode to test . Maybe you have bad umts signal? Happens at other places too, or only at one place?
Got the same issue here...
I cannot move the SIM because it is being hold in place by the battery. (to little room)
Adding a piece did not work either.
Anyone got another solution?
anyone? My mothers HD just got this problem now. She has a new phone and for the contract renewal she had to read the backside of the sim. The phone all of a sudden didn't recognizes the simcard anymore.. I tried a few other simcards but it won't read it anymore.
My plan was to sell the old phone but now it's almost worthless just a shame it is still a great phone to operate.. handy with the navigation and all

cant send texts or use phone

for some reason i cant do the above, theres no bars and when i do phone it tells me its not registered ive used my sim in another phone and works no problem
this has happened from about 2 hrs ago , also no 3g as in the symbols but the internet and market are working fine,
anyone any answers in the meantime i will flash another firmware to see if that helps
regards
flashing doesnt change it, it just says not registered on network when i make a call
ive tried 2 different sims and when i make a call it says not registered on network what a pita
turn off the phone
remove back cover
remove battery
remove the sim card
blow it some flesh air
put back your sim card (make sure no finger oily residue on the sim contacts)
put the battery back
put the cover back
power up the phone
dial
is the phone sim locked? Or maybe its been barred because its IMEI has been reported stolen/lost ?
Handset reported lost/stolen, I had same symptoms with Tmo simcard, 3G internet worked but couldnt make a call or send text.
i had flashed JPC thru kies then downgraded to jm1 and everything was fine apart from the KOR and the fooked up ime
so im either up $hit creek regarding warranty or hoping someone finds out how to get original ime back
regards
Do a search for imei restore as its a known bug. I wish ppl take time out to read froyo threads. Froyo beta breaks more **** then anything

hd2 froze at emergency calls only screen

my brother has a tmous hd2 with updated 3.14 rom...was working well...today he set up microsoft outlook exchange sync and it did work, sync'ed few mails over wifi......... but then it froze at the "emergency calls only dial-pad screen"...he cannot make any calls, neither is any of the hard keys working...removing battery or soft resetting doesnot make any difference............funnily, he can recieve and answer calls..any one got any clue?,....is hard reset only the way out??
ps:tried different sim, still the same
Hey man,
I take it you tried undoing the exchange setup (I guess you cant do that though beause its frozen) and booting without the sd card?
if that doesnt work it sounds like a hard reset.....
sorry conan.............it was just stupid of me, actually i got to see his device yesterday after he came back from his office,..........it was the phone pin lock screen and not the dialer screen that you get without the sim..
i got confused by what he told me (he is newb now) over the phone..............ms exchange client needs a password as per policy and this is what is used as pin lock!....i never used outlook/ exchange...so really couldnot get it over the phone...when i saw it, i just realised how stupid i was
sorry, sometimes it is just so simple...and i was thinking about sim pins pressed down/ faulty tmobile sd card/ hard reset
ive never used it either so i didnt think of that...
glad its not a serious problem
