Hi there, please help me out. I have the O2 mini and been using it for half a year and all of a sudden I can't read any text messages. I see I have unread messages but nothing can be read.
Also sometimes, it shows 0k along the righthand side of the screen from top to bottom but nothing can be read again. Does anyone know why?
What happens when you put the SIM card in another phone? Can you read SMS then? It sounds like the XDAII isn't getting the complete SMS from the network.
I tried inserting the sim card into another 02 mini and it works so something must of happened to my phone. my current rom is
1.11.00wwe
radio version: 1.11.00
extrom version: 1.11.922 wwe
Please help. My phone still has warranty and I have a relative going back to the country where the phone was bought so I'm thinking if I should get them to bring it to the store where I got.
Also, does anyone think upgrading the firmware will make a difference? If yes please let me know which one I should use. I am in Canada.
Why don you try a hard reset..!

A hard reset means pressing the reset button (the small hole on the lower left hand side of the handset case) and holding down the power button simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. The phone will then reboot. Be sure to save your contacts to your SIM and back up any pics to an MMC or SD card if you have one inserted in the SDIO slot.
thanks for the help. I did a hard reset then reinstall my rom and now it works.....strange....oh well it works now thanks for the input
SMS problem
hey all sorry to jack this topic but my jam sends duplicate sms's. not all the time but every now and then i get friends saying they got the same msg twice? i've checked my bills and i'm not being charged for the extra sms. i know that this happens occassionaly because of the networks but this is happening to much and becoming a bit of a pain!
No problem, 2k3silver.
boh113, I have this problem from time to time as well with my MDA II. Sometimes I try sending a reply but the network simply won't send it because I won't get a on-screen confirmation and the MDA II won't immediately store the sent SMS in the "Sent Messages" folder. However, the SMS does get sent and then the recipient tells me that they got the SMS more than once.
A hard reset seems to be the best solution since the ROM probably gets corrupted/unreliable with time.
Do you guys use any task management app to make the default tmail.exe application to close rather minimize? Dont! tmail.exe application should be minimized and i think that causes the problem of sending multiple sms.. Try it cz i may not be very sure..
Regards
Carty..
That could be the issue but not for me since I don't use any kind of task manager. Even if I did, I would have tried ending after reading about your suggestion. Is tmail.exe the general SMS/e-mail program on MDAs using T-Mobile ROMs?
Yeah the default mail application..Tmail.exe! That application should be minimized and not closed.. Cz when i used to close it with wisbar before, i had the same problem but now ive made the settings in wisbar to minimize it and now it goes fine..
Regards
Carty..
Thanks for the clarification. I did a soft reset this morning and the SMS that had been stuck in the Drafts folder for a couple hours was sent right after I tapped Send.

I just got back from Dubai this morning, and I recieved my first call from the plane. Fine, it worked.... but then...
disaster struck!
The phone has the "no signal" message when I click on the reception icon. I've tried to click the "turn phone off" button but nothing works...
I can't get into the phone settings in the start menu to change networks...
I'm trying to back-up to SD to do a hard reset, but the phone re-boots itself every 4 minutes! The device is also very slow in responding to the commands. E.G. when I place my phone code it takes 3 seconds just to type in the number... strange! I have 48 / 64 MB free in memory and a 256 MB SD card...
I can't connect to activesync because the decive is not being recognized. So I can't transfer anything through the USB... it's gotta be some kind of manual un-locking from the phone itself...
I took out the sim card and am using a crappy nokia until I get this deal fixed.
I searched the forum for possible solutions and some came close, but none popped the cherry...
Have any of you experienced this specific situation? Is there anything I can do to recover my data before hard-reseting the Qtek? I made about 30 new contacts on the recent trip and was going to sync when I got home from the airport... but the 1010 keeps passing out on me!! It's like giving a date a full bottle of Crystal Champange before hitting the bedroom... Sucks!
All my appoinments are on the phone for tomorrow.. it's 2:11AM if anyone can get back soon with instructions or any previous posting, please let me know.. E-mail me... SOMEBODY SAVE MY SOUL!!
HELP!
sorry to hear about ur problem, must be awful
I dunno if any one can save ur soul, but if worst comes to worst, Ill buy ur soul off of u, just gimmie a good price
thanx, an good luck
Does the phone reboot even if plugged into the power? Also have you tried a soft reset with the sd card removed?
try also to remove the SIM or try another one. some of them are faulty.
I had a similar but less traumactic problem in the phone part wouldn't work at all. Turned out that error messages can be saved on the sim card and block functions. Removing and re inserting the sim is enough to clear the block in my case.
Good luck.

Hi All,
It's my first experience with PDA. I bought O2 XDA Exec few days ago.
Well i'm not too happy with it but i'm try to console myself by looking into good side of it.
The first problem i faced is Phone pad. it stopped working. Tapping on Calls doesn't show phone pad. Media->video call also doesn't work. Tapping on Phone pad from input selector also doesn't work.
When i do soft reset it works first time but again stops working.
Can any one help?
I have e-mailed problem to O2 but I don't expect any help from them.
cheers

I also had a similar problem with applications or functions not responding.
After talking to someone from O2 customer service. They confimed that a new ROM is on the way but don`t have any dates.
But did suggest changing the install from "Basic" if anyone choose "Personal"
I did a hard-reset and choose the option to do a Basic install without all the rest of the
Also de-actived "Error reporting" & "Accept incoming beams"
This has helped...
At least a soft-reset solves problem and returns operations back.
And I don`t need to resort to doinga soft-reset so often.
While we wait for O2 to release an updated ROM.
But something that still bugs me is....
Whats the difference between the power botton and a Soft-reset?
Also why not make the power-botton the reset botton?
The same problem for me. Have to soft reset often, because it only works at the first time. However, it seems as long as you don't end it in the task manager, it can be contuniously accessed.

Hi everyone,
Am new to all this and please beare with me. Here I go.
I got a MDA on T-Mobile but I use a O2 sim.
When I got the phone a few months ago, when I write a text I could swap between text and numbers by going to 123 and it would swap. Now what happens is that some times when I try to swap between text and numbers it wont let me and it jams. So when that happens I have to do a soft start and fingers crossed it would work but sometimes it wont.
Could anyone please tell me why this is happening and what I need to do to solve this Flipping problem. It sometimes winds me up that I feel like throwing it across the room LOL.
Please Please Help Me
Try to go to T-mobile and get a replacement, it seems like you might have to Hard reset your device, but dont bother if you are still under warranty, dont forget to remove the O2 sim otherwise they gonna be angry.
Sidd
It could be a software that you installed. Be sure to make a backup first or at least sync your device with outlook and do a hard reset. It takes only a few seconds to find out if the problelm is coming from the device instead of immediately sending it for replacement.
so I've had a recent problem with my TyTN, and I'd like to avoid a hard reset if possible. Whenever I make a call, or recieve a call, my phone cycles through Outlook/text message/mms a couple times. I then have to close it out and go back to call status.
Now, this isn't really a problem or anything because I'm usually, you know, talking when this happens, but in the off chance I need to go to my contacts or whatever its becoming a pain. Anyone had this problem before? If so, did a hard reset fix it?
bump, any ideas?

Just to rule out a physical cause - it's not possible the messaging hard key is getting pressed?? repeated touches on this key cycles the messaging accounts. Alternatively the messaging key has not been reset to some other key by any chance?
Mike
Same problem with messaging cycle
Man I thought I was the only one with this Problem. I tried every thing, flash ROM HTC 1.35 Dopod 1.23 & 1.30 and reflash the original Rom, NOTHING its still doing it. The worst part is that for some reasons its doing it more often, before it was only on receiving and making a call, now it does it anytime.
Please, please can someone tell me what its going on with my Trion.
Thanks very much!!!
Give us a list of software / tweaks you've installed on your device... Something in the list might be conflicting with something else.
Alternatively, is the hardware key sticky or maybe otherwise damaged (has it been dropped on the key perhaps? The contact could be physically damaged.)
Thanks Christopher,
I didn't drop the unit, or damage it in any ways. I tried to use it without any program right after flashing ROM 1.35 and 1.30 and it still does messaging cycle. It seems like everytime the phone connect to a tower or have any wireless connection with sever the problem happens.
Please tell me if you need any more info?
Thanks
I desparately need help! I finally got fed up missing calls because my MDA Vario wasn't ringing or because it crashed when I tried to answer. I've had a problem for a while, in that after a day or two it will mysteriously stop making any noises. No menu clicks, no voice directions in TomTom, no notification sounds and worst of all, no ringing when a call comes in. The only fixes are to reboot or to go into Sounds & Notifications in Settings, go to the Notifications tab and then change the volume up or down! It's then fine for another day or two.
I finally got fed up and did a hard reset last week, put my data back on through ActiveSync and then reinstalled the following:
Opera
TomTom 5.21
Total Commander
SmartsKey
Omapclock
I set SmartsKey to overclock to 240mhz and used Total Commander to edit the registry and switch on caps indicator, enable the various caches as suggested in in the wiki, and to set GPRS to always on (as I'm on unlimited data). No other changes, no other software. I did install the trial of SPB Mobile Shell, but then removed it because I didn't like it. I'm on the standard T-Mobile firmware, ROM 2.21.2.6 WWE and I've not unlocked it at all.
The phone worked like a dream for a week or so after the hard reset, but now it's started doing the same thing with the sounds again! Furthermore, if I'm using TomTom it doesn't override the power save settings - so it turns off the backlight after 2 minutes and then turns off the phone after 5! It didn't do this before!
PLEASE can anyone help before I throw the thing out of the window and buy a Symbian smartphone!?
Thanks in advance,
Tim
Can nobody help?
Nobody have any ideas? Am I really the only one with this problem!?
Tim

Did you thik it maybe hardware not software!!!! Maybe your phones has a fault that comes and goes. I would take it into the shop to see if has a fault!
Can I suggest that you start with the basics. Do a hard reset but reset it before the extended ROM can install. (If you don't have a stock operator ROM installed nows a good time to do it). Don't install any software at all. It might sound a bit boring but it is important to establish if you have a hard ware or software fault.
Now run the fone for a few days and see if the problem returns. If it doesn't start to add your apps one at a time until you find which is the culprit. If it fails to work with the basic stock ROM you most likely have a hardward problem.
Going for repair
Thanks for the replies, all. As the phone is a year old in June and will therefore be out of warranty I spent 45 minutes this lunchtime on the phone to T-Mobile to get it sent for repair! They were fine about it, just deeply inefficient. Anyway, a prepaid bag is on it's way for me to send back. Any ideas if they will try to repair or just swap it out with another one? I imagine a fault like this which might be software or hardware and which only manifests itself after a few days will be more trouble to fix than it's worth? Anyone had any experience of getting one repaired?
Thanks again,
Tim
yeah, I had been p[laying about with roms for a few weeks and after what I think may be water damage or a drunken drop, my screen stopped working.
Take into account it was christmas time but still I received a brand new phone but had the old battery cover haha. They replaced the stylus too. My old phone was battered and screen was scratched so I was totally happy with the 3 week wait.
No questions asked although I did return my rom to exactly the one it came with, i was unable to re cid lock it.
Overall give T-mob time and it seems they replace phones ok
i did take mine into a t-mobile shop so don't know if that makes a difference (time etc) and was not covered by t-mobile insurance but my bank account has free phone insurance as back up
Hope that was of some help
