Go here to have a look.
hey, i saw that too this afternoon. wonder if it could be used by english speaking users? it says WWE, so i guess it is in english?
i'm uploading the unpacked installation folder to FTP now. maybe someone who knows his thing, could could magic a .bat file to change the carrier?
I have a S100 bought in Sweden with rom-version 1.3.00 WWE, anyone tried the upgrade on this version?
Is it possible to first upgrade 1.3.00 to 1.3.148? Anyone has a link to such an upgrade?
Appreciate all feedback!
pell0, try www.smartmobile.se go to the update page and enter your IMEI, if your device is supported wich I think it will be you will be abel to download the package and install it, make sure your device is charged to at least 80% befor starting the upgrade. Write a note here when your done so we know if it worked or not.
Or http://www.smartmobile.se/upgrade/upgrade.aspx for the update page directly.
Damned, why don't we have the same in France ..... I can't find who is supporting Qtek and ROM Updates in France ...
Anyway, what's your opinion before/after an update, do you have a backup and then do a restore or do you start from scratch and re-install all programs.
The reason why I'm asking is that some companys recomends the latter, reinstall all programs instead of doing a restore.
Peter
OK, i have tested works so great with the update, connection with cradle is 5 times faster, i have 1gb card and lots of ppc movies goeas really fast now, but i recomend an hard reset and reinstallation.
After update I experience that the audio quality is soo much better then before, bluetooth seems more stabel and more easy to connect to. T9 Swedish input, yey that is soo much better then before. Anything els... Camera, better but still not good.
If the unit was a 3 on a scale of 5 before, its at least a 4 now.
After update I did everything from scratch. Why? Just feal so much cleaner then to use a backup.
Tnx Badger for helping me out of a dreadful situation. I am pretty satisfied with my new unit.
The only real difference that i noticed was that the device responed a lot quicker and that i have Swedish, Finnish, Norweigan, Danish T9 Dictionaries. However they only apply when using "Phone Pad" as an inputdevice. Other then that, nothing. It´s still the same dreadful MS BTstack and it still have some bugs. I couldn´t restore. Either from ActiveSync nor from Xbackup. Activesync gave me an error about another version and after using Xbackup the touchscreen did not respond, at all. But i was time for a fresh start anyway,
Hello All,
Thanks for your feedback!
Can you please put your ExtROM content on the FTP?
Thanks !
Thanks, I will update my norwegian Qtek s100 later today. I believe the message about the ROM only working for swedish models are BS... I've used ROMs from qtek.nu earlier (Qtek2020) and they always worked great, don't see what could be a problem now...

Crap! Country ID error... well I guess we need the passwords so we can change the ROM..
Yes...
And how is it possible to obtain this passwd, by deassembling the file, or only waiting someone who already have it (Qtek or HTC team ...) ?
My IMEI number doesn't work! Guess I'll have to talk with their help desk. Sigh...
Skip
Confirming that it won't work with german MDA. This has to be resolved somehow....
could anyone please upload the Swedish, Finnish, Norweigan, Danish T9 Dictionaries for the intellipad - i have the imate jam and can not update...but i am interested in these files due to the fact that i am DANISH
Thanks in advance
worx g8 !
only thingy is that the T9 only worx with phonepad "intellipad".
i cant see why it shouldnt work with the keybord as well.. guess they were in a hurry putting it together...its a big bad not have the correct t9 language when introducing a new modell today..
otherwise im happy with it.
Updating right now, but it doesn't look good!
Well, after reading about this new firmware, I was thrilled!
It will fix some of the few faults I've seen in the S100.
And now, I've downloaded the new firmware, the installation guide, I've backup'ed my old sms's and contacts and done everything I needed to do.
Started installing. The program checked old firmware, gave me the green light and I pressed "Next".
Now it says:
"Checking the information on your device... Please wait...
Please don't disconnect bla. bla. bla."
The thing that concerns me, is the fact that it's been saying that for 10 minutes now, and the computer isn't doing anything (No CPU- or Harddrive-activity).
All the display on my S100 says is "USB" on top and "v1. 00" at the bottom.
If anyone who has done this upgrade could tell me what is supposed to happen and how long it takes, I would appreciate it alot!
Thanks!
Hi,
I recently upgraded my Blue Angel (Yes I know this is a Magician thread!), but the problem you described it exactly the same as what I had happen.
I found that it only ever happened (hung/froze) if I tried to flash it with the SD card in. Not entirely sure why, but whenever I did it without it in it worked fine.
Anyway, you should be able to safely remove the phone from the cradle (it hasn't started yet anyway if it still says USB...). As you remove it it'll change to Serial, but that's fine. Leave the program on the PC running.
Things to try:
First just take out the SD card and see if it works again when you redock it.
Failing that hard reset it (should come back to the same Serial/USB screen) and redock that. If it still doesn't work, then take the battery out, wait 30 minutes or however long it takes for a Magicians backup battery to die (about 25 minutes on a Blue Angel) and then put it back on. If still not working kill the program/reload it, but I'm sure you'll have it working way before that.
Obviously I'm only saying what I've seen from my BA, but it doesn't seem that different. Also I've yet to see one person permanently fry their phone on here so I wouldn't panic yet (if you were - which I know I was!)
Hope that was some help!
Im interested in upgrading my Orbit ROM as its a little slow. Having scoured through these forums Ive seen some reports of successful Artemis upgrading, and some unsuccessful Orbit reports. I just want to ask:
1) Firstly before thinking of flashing, can I backup my PPC (kinda like ghosting/imaging on a PC) incase something goes drastically wrong.
2) Has anyone got definate proof of an Orbit being flashed with a good ROM (with GPS / WiFi / most apps working)
3) If so, where would one obtain this ROM
4) (probably a question worth a hounding) Where might I find step by step instrustions on how to: a) backup my PPC fully for safety net
b) flash my ROM. including links to needed software
5) After flashing ROM, I take it no info (contacts, messages, programs, etc.) are stored on the PPC and will need to be painstakingly put back on ??
Many thanks, and my apologies if this has been asked a thousand times> I have sifted the forums but cnt seem to find definitive answers.
One last thing, I just got my Orbit few weeks ago and is my first PPC and being quite techy-minded, would like to learn more about the whole process so if anyone knows of any good guides/info with explainations of acronyms and what have ye,t'would be much appreciated.
First thing you could do is put a question mark after what is a question cause my heart just cant take the excitement.
O2 XDA Orbit and new ROMs?
Secondly this is such a hot topic there are lots of threads and the reason you can not find a definitive answer is because at the moment there is none.
so answers to your question
1 At the moment there is no way to make a backup of the ROM.
2 There are people who this has worked for but do you want to be in the percentage that has a bricked Orbit...... just wait for the new O2 ROM (ETA unknown)
3 There is a PDAMobiz rom that can install on a CID Locked phone floating around but I would not recommend it to you cause its more trouble then it is worth.
4 When its ready.... arvind09 says that they are going to have something really soon.... Look, nothing is going to make it so you dont have to check the forum everyday. Welcome to the club enjoy your stay (at least it is not the club with a bricked Orbit).
5 Use Activesync and Outlook to store your contacts and everything will be automated.
Check the Wiki for information about the whole PDA scene.
P.S. PDAs can be fun but please dont rush into upgrading your ROM on this baby unless you have CIDUnlocked it from (imei-check.co.uk) or unless you have £47 to get it repaired after you have bricked it.
BTW Welcome to the wonderful world of XDAs

that is cause like i said there is not one.
hold on mate just hold on.
BTW over clock your Orbit that you can do.
Use Omapclock
just search for it
that will speed it up
yeah already got that sorted. Just hopin O2 get it into gear n release a FREE WM6 upgrade. I read somewhere that HTC are releasing a FREE upgrade, justhope O2 dnt all business conscious n try to charge for any mods they make lol. Thanks for the quick responses anyhow chum
I have fixed *all* my problems with the O2 Orbit just by installing Battery Status 1.04
Now I am not normally the kind of person who will just go and install some random free software from a site that barely even mentions the software, but this is great.
Before installing, I had these problems:
1. Quite often my phone would completely lock up when I got an incoming call, but the ringer would keep ringing and I'd have to take the battery out. This was rather embarassing after I'd previously told my friends about all the things the phone could do.
2. GPS took forever to get a fix - maybe up to 10 minutes. I would often arrive at my destination before the phone knew where I was. This was despite regularly updating QuickGPS
3. The phone would randomly lock up and/or stall for no apparent reason, and then catch up with itself after a couple of minutes and run all the things I'd launched because I pressed all the buttons while it was locked up.
4. I tried playing an mp3 once. It took about 45 seconds of stuttering and bad playback as if I was streaming a HD video on a 9600 baud modem. When it finally started playing smoothly, nothing else would work.
I had tried uninstalling the o2 software, and I run spb mobile shell and pocket plus but I'd tried removing them too but it was useless. What was really annoying was that I switched to an 18 month contract on o2 for this, but the phone ran more slowly and with more bugs than my old SPV m500!
This one little utility has fixed it all. Now I can use GPS while playing mp3 files and surfing the internet over wifi all at the same time as being on activesync. It's great. It's almost as though the phone is supposed to use the xscale function but o2 have disabled it...
Anyway, download the software from the link - no need to upgrade ROMs or anything. Just make sure you take a backup of your phone before you install it
Now to find a way to get it to default to letter recogniser after a soft reset. I'm sure I saw a post about this somewhere!

Hi Folks,
I was unlucky/ lucky enough to smash my Hermes in to bits the other day.
Insurance stumped up the cost of a spanking new Vario II from the T-Mobile shop the same afternoon.
It came back with the original ROM 1.21.110.3, Radio 1.16.00.00.
I have a problem (Duh! otherwise I wouldn't be posting)....
Every time I receive an incoming call when I'm on the phone, I press answer to pick it up, (thereby putting Caller 1 on hold normally), Caller 1 goes on hold, and phone freezes, Kupput!
Bizarre huh!
2nd time round, I thought, I'd ignore the call, press the button, some bloody thing!
Now I have to let the call ring off to answer phone if I'm on the other line.
I also seem to have to reboot the old phone rather a lot (3 times a day).
Was this a dodgy ROM, or do you think it's hardware related?
The only reason I'm reluctant to upgrade the ROM is that if it's hardware I can just take it back to the shop.
Many thanks in advance,
Andy
Your title sounds like a bad porno
Anyways, you can try a new ROM and if it turns out to be hardware, you can downgrade to the stock ROM/radio.
I think its the ROM as mines still stock rom and i have Noticed that, some times it works but most of the time it hangs, when i do switch to the other incoming call it seems to cut the other person off and not hold them, but that could be me doing it wrong lol
normally i just leave the other incoming call "ringing" then they can leave a voice message and i can ring them back, would rather do that than lose both call's
maybe someone with a non stock rom could help out with this one and post if it does the same on theirs or not
If I were you I would take it back to the shop and get it exchanged now. If its a hardware problem you are not likely to be unlucky enough to get 2 phones with the same hardware problem. This way you are reasonbly safe.
If you find that the second phone also has the same issue you can then install a different rom and see how you go. Easier to do it this way than to go through the pain of reversing roms just to send the kit back.
What you haven't said is whether this is a WM5 or WM6. If WM5 I had hellish problems with my Tytn when I first got it with freezing problems, etc. I was on the brink of getting a sledgehammer out and smashing it to bits when I discovered this website. Since I moved to WM6, upgraded my radio, and used all the various hints and tips e.g. the one around activesync, life has been much easier.
Hope you get it sorted.

Hi, I have just received my new (to me) SPV M700 from a guy on the internet.
It was originally locked to Orange. Has been flashed a few times by previous owner and has Ausdim on it (don't know what I'm talking about as am new to this stuff). It's been unlocked and upgraded to WM6.1, also has Tom Tom and European maps.
I put my O2 sim in and turned it on. What I got was a white screen with the words HTC, also MO5, BO5, DO3 Ausdim, and a tune played, then windows 6.1 screen came up. That's it. Nothing else happens, phone doesn't work, in fact nothing works. Oh yes, a green light at the top right hand side flashes occasionally.
Also, l had three new styli shipped from Japan. Pushed the white end onto the pen and inserted it into it's appropriate place on phone. Came to get it out and the end has come off leaving the stylus in the holder inside the machine. Oh dear. Not my day is it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I have experience of flashing psp's and using pandora batteries so the prospect of fiddling with flashing is not totally scarey to me. But I did get to know the machine first and read a lot before trying it. Don't want to rush into such stuff with this phone if there is a simpler solution.
Cheers

Hi guys,
I realise I may have upset people by posting a question before I have contributed anything to the forum.
Will be happy to do so when I have the phone up and running.
Here's a quick introduction......... if that's the protocol.
Am a retired aged person who loves tinkering with new technology. Was first introduced to computers with the Sinclair ZX81 which had 1k of ram, yes 1k!
I even got a 16k rampak for the back. Such wonderful technology, I also had a fiddle with machine code programming.
Then I got a Commodore 64, more fun. Later on, I got a Psion, again more programming and compiling fun. Then laterley I have a couple of pc's and a laptop. Also got recently a psp and liked it so much that I bought another one with custom firmeware on it. Have had lots of fun upgrading and such.
Just got a garmin for the car too for when we go off to France for a few months with caravan.
Just a quick introduction as to who I am. Have had a look at some of the posts and I have lots to learn. Thanks for making it happen to a golden oldie.
Cheers
Puddle ('cause my hobby is scuba diving)
Hmmm....I feel for you. My Trinity has the original wm5 rom, when I boot it up it starts with the white HTC screen you described but then kicks into windows. I doesn't sound good!
As for contributing first...don't stress about it. We all have to start somewhere
Thanks for the reply, the chap who sold me the phone is going to ring me tomorrow to see if he can sort it out.
My sim is a non 3g, is it possible that this could be the problem?
If it's something so simple I should be lucky.
I was really excited about getting the phone - a bit of a bummer that it isn't working.
Cheers
Lyv
I don't think it is the sim! Does the device boot without the sim? If not then it something deeper!
No, it is exactly the same with no sim in. Oh dear.
Perhaps it can be remedied by re flashing ??? The guy who previously flashed it may have the solution.
Cheers

Before thinking about reflashing, try Hard Resetting. Be warned: you will lose all data on your phone! ...but it could be a solution for your problem.
Thanks for the advice, will speak to the guy I bought it off tomorrow evening and if we don't get anywhere consider the hard reboot. (under guidance).
Regards
Lyv
Sorry.
It was my phone you bought so hello again! It's very strange that it's not getting past the Windows 6.1 splash screen even without a SIM as it was booting fine when I sent it and if it isn't getting past their even with the SIM removed then it may be something more intrinsic although I don't know what.
Hard reset the phone by pressing and holding both the soft keys and then using the stylus to reset the phone and follow the prompts, it will erase TomTom but you have all the back ups to reinstall that and I'll ring you and talk you through the process.
If the hard reset doesn't work then I'll shove a Mini SD to SD card converter in the post to you and walk you through flashing a new ROM from the memory card and if that doesn't fix it then I'm stumped and I'll give you a refund, but I'm sure it won't come to that.
Sorry for all the hassle!
Mike
Or if you're still awake feel free to ring me (don't mind returning the call to save your phone bill) and I'll try and talk you through everything now as I'll be up for an hour or two yet, you should have my phone number in the PM I sent you on YD.
Thanks for the reply Mike, would have been tucked up in bed when you posted so will speak with you tonight. Give me a bell on my landline, notified on yd site pm. I could ask a silly question.......did you load WM6.1?
Cheers

Oh dear, all our efforts failed Looks like it's dead. Could have been dropped in transit, thank goodness for insurance.
Will have to look for another phone now.

not even flashing the firmware again helped ?
Soft and hard resetting does nothing. I tried connecting the device up to my pc with the usb cable but xp didn't have the drivers so can't access via that method.
Thanks for the reply anyway.
Lyv
You need to download and install Active Sync (at least version 4) before Windows XP will recognise the phone.
Get it here
Thanks IK, will download and try again. I was on an older version of activesync from when I used to use the IPAQ.
Cheers
Lyv
Upgraded my activesync to 4.5 and connected trinity. xp detected that a usb device had been added and activesync attempted to connect. At the end it gave up with a message that the connection to the windows mobile device couldn't be made.
The device itself had the red light at the top to show that it was taking power from the usb and the wm6.1 splash screen is still showing.
No joy, must be dead.
Thanks for help
Lyv
I shall be writing a long, complaining letter to Royal Mail
From what the OP has said it sounds like the phone's reset button isn't working at all as she can't get the phone to enter bootloader or hard/soft reset the phone and the only way to power it down is to remove the battery so it sounds well and truly bricked.
I'll have a play when it gets sent back to me and may ask you guys for some help sorting it but I'm not hopeful.
Hi Mike,
Money arrived in Bank account. I've posted your phone etc back to you today, special delivery, so you should get it tomorrow or Saturday at the latest.
Hope you get some joy from PO.

I resorted to checking the price of iPhones on ebay earlier so someone please help me before its too late.
Phone - HTC HD2 on Vodafone UK, Appears unbranded but it won't let me download the official Rom from HTC.com based on my serial so who knows...
ROM 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE
Problems:
1) Text entry - Totally innacurate, the backspace button might has well be labelled "random letter" as it's totally useless!
2) Tap to compose text - Takes 15 seconds if more than about 20 messages from someone, totally unacceptable !!
3) Messages not being sent - I annoyingly have resorted to putting delivery reports on and getting an annoying text message tone back as every single day i'll look at my phone and realise 4-5 messages are merrily waiting in the outbox. the only way i can resolve it is by resetting the phone and sending a further text, usually saying "sorry this didnt send..."
4) Random freezing - Just decides now and again to make me wait for the simplest of tasks.
5) My Location - Doesnt work
6) Facebook - Decided that enough is enough and it doesnt want to upload pictures anymore with no reason given
7) Silent ringing - Sometimes my HTC feels that it would be rude to ring my phone, and so doesnt. it just lights up and says someone is callling despite working fine moments before and being on loud.
I thought i could live with all these things before but they have got worse and more frequent leaving the phone totally unusable. It's a brilliant toy but a terrible phone.
I want to update the ROM to see if that helps but i have to say im not comfortable using the goldcard method and when i inserted my serial onto the HTC website to get the official one it didnt let me download it ??? A friend of mine could do his, if i used his serial to download the installer would it work?
Any help greatly appreciated
This does sound unacceptable.
It may be related to the supplier or the batch of hardware- I have a SIM free one which came with ROm 1.43 and only saw occasional failure to send SMS messages.
The delay loading long conversations is a known bug, and although there is a workaround there is no formal fix yet.
Operator supplied devices, though essentially unbranded, are still not eligible for HTC ROM updates. A ROM downloaded by someone else would also fail unless you use the goldcard method.
Vodafone are still saying the HD2 has been discontinued, so a ROM update is unlikely from them. You may want to try asking for a warranty repair as the phone is unfit for purpose.
In the interim have you tried a factory reset? You'd lose all your own data but it may stabilise the device.

Big plus one on all that.
Neil - Why has it been discontinued by Voda, presume this is due to all the problems with it? What about the other networks.
When the 1.60 ROM is officially released im going to try that.
I have none of your problems except that My Location works partially. I truly believe you have a faulty device so you should take it back.

I've got a vodafone uk hd2 and you're right, you can't update the firmware from the htc website ,although isn't there a soft spl out now?
1. it took me a while to get used to the touch keyboard and I still find it a bit too sensitive. I think the the sensitivity can be adjusted but mine certainly doesn't produce 'random' letters!
2. duuno - I don't keep that many messages but i think if you tap the keyboard icon it might speed things up.
3. there's an official htc fix for that.
4. never had that.
5. works for me.
6. don't really use it but it doesn't seem to want to *download* my pics.
7. never had that
Or try a cooked Rom via "SSPL Method" ......<<HERE>>. Read through the thread to see how hundreds of unhappy Leo owners with offical Roms are now happy with immediate fixes from our own xda chefs....
This is just a temporary way to flash only cooked ROMs as the community is patiently wait for the magic work or Cmonex's Hard SPL.

It's not technical, but marketing. Voda have (had?) a big backlog of orders for the HD2 and they weren't taking new orders until the back orders had been processed. They then started saying that they would not be supplying any more HD2's despite extremely strong demand.
This has been reported to be due to Voda pushing the iPhone heavily and not wanting to compete too much. We also suspect they get the iPhone at a much keener price, so it is in their interests to push that at the expense of the HD2, as the costs/tariffs are similar.
This is all just rumour and speculation of course though some Vodafone insiders have hinted that it has some truth.
The ability to flash a 1.61 ROM may have the same limitations as other official HTC ROMs so it may be that SSPL (or hopefully HSPL) will be the only answer, though that does have warranty implications.

To take the thread off-topic slightly, can you tell me why most people prefer hard spl over soft? I'm not sure what the differences are.
HardSPL is written into the Bootloader file on the device, so if anything goes wrong, the SPL isn't affected and you can go on to flash another ROM.
SoftSPL makes a temporary overwrite to the bootloader; in general it is pretty safe but if by any chance it goes wrong (we had one chap who didn't replace the back cover during a flash and the battery fell out, rendering his device a bit of a brick!) there is a risk the whole thing could become unresponsive.
I'd always try to have a genuine HTC ROM for your specific device available as a backup- as long as you can access the bootloader screen it ought to work.
re
This hd2 thingy is lastly a phone to me. It's predecessor was that also, only less capable. I managed. I like, that it mostly replaces a phone and I can live with it's shortcomings in that area. Admittedly, I have none of the issues, You are talking about. Stock 1.48 rom, some cosmetix.
What it is though...to me...it is hard to describe. Laptop/net in the pocket - and since I do not watch/listen to public television/radio - by choice, this is my secondary home.
I've got what I payed for this time. The HD was borderline, but the HD2 is no contest. It does, what I need it to.
Constantly and Instantly. If the HD did that, I'd not be selling it right now.
I know, this helps You not in technical terms, sorry, but try to observe the philosophical aspects of your choices.
Edit:
Oooops, one minor thingy, I forgot, since what brought about this completely irrelevant response from me in the first place: If the iphone did all teh things, that the hd2 does for me, I'd still not get it. EVER. Even if it'd suck me ****, do my laundry and mend my sox. I ****ing HATE the crowd and that doubles for the "I"crowd. Every breath they take. I would pay a pretty penny to be rid of them all. That is how 'green' I am.
One point of jealousy is the Otterbox Defender. The only one.
Good luck with the adjustment!
