Do you mean 'dead pixels'?

the pixels are "on" but don't change color.

That's what we call dead pixel.
I brought mine back and asked to change the camera to a new one. After changing there are some but fewer dead pixels. It seems - and it is - this is a hardware failure. If you search in my posts you can find a similar topic than this which I opened with attached images. You can check it if you have the same problem. I am sure you have.

I probably have two or three deaduns - do you think that warrants a return - at what point would you say its a big problem?
Matt

Two or three is out of guarantee, but don't worry, I had 35 or something and after changing camera it is 8-10 now. I made them try all of cameras in their stock, and they said, all of them were with pixel-failure.
So, I don't care it anymore.
My biggest problem is not the camera. The small RAM and the low capacity battery.

Have I changed the colour resolution by mistake?

I did a search so I hope this hasn't been asked a million times before. I have noticed that I may have lost some resolution on my XDA Mini S
I synchronised over a photo – that I had taken with a camera, I had it as my ‘screen saver’ on the today page – looked good. Really clear just as you would expect
I noticed a day later that the screen saver looked a bit rubbishy – then I checked my photos on the phone and they all look like they have lost resolution – there is a distinct lack of colour and clarity. Almost like an Andy Warhol painting.
Taking a photo also produces the same sub standard quality - so I'm hoping that I may have done something by mistake that is easy to fix.
I have had the phone for 3 days and apart from the photo have also uploaded Wisbar onto it - apart from that I haven't done anything
As a side note Bubble Breaker seems to have a lack of colour as well – although admittedly this could be my imagination.
Any help greatly appreciated!
You cant change color resolution on your screen its 64K and fixed. What screensaver are you using? It may have a bearing on your problem but it does sound like a graphics hardware fault. Do a hard reset just to be sure of this though as this will rule out any software conflicts. How to do the hard reset is in the manual.
Thanks Mark
I think you are dead on - I did a hard reset and it still looked rubbish
Also to back up what you said :
If i look through the camera/video capture anything with red in it is all fuzzy and hazy, whereas everything else is 'perfect', and
Importing the photo back onto my laptop the photo looks OK so it's def what the xda is displaying and it seems an issue with the colour red.
Many thanks for your help - doh i hate getting a new toy and returning it straight away!!

Several questions....

Hi folks.....,
Anyhow, I have several questions for y'all about the phone. I was wondering, can anything be done about the pink hue in camera shots? I've noticed that in some pictures, it's not so evident, but in others, it's clear as day. Is there a trick to this? I know that changing phones don't really work as it seems to be something to do with the tech of the camera itself + the housing of the lens or something.
Also, since this is my first time using WM 6.5, is it normal for the Start menu, to segment in terms of scrolling? Like, instead of a smooth drop all the way to the bottom, it goes in "pages" almost, if this makes any sense. Also, is there a trick to using capacitive screens? Whenever I try to use my fingertip to scroll, sometimes it registers, sometimes it half-registers. Is angle an issue here? Do you get better with this over time?
I'm running stock ROM right now, with a yellow-reset button if that matters, with 2.13. Having said that, what are some of the common things I can check for in terms of manufacturer's defects, etc? I want to try avoiding flashing until I've checked for these common issues first to save me the hassle of flashing back again, etc.
Thanks everyone! But boy...the phone is snappy.

I can't answer your question about the pink hue. I haven't noticed it in my pictures, yet.
Yes, the page scrolling in the start menu screen is by design. It's so you don't go way farther down than you wanted to. I think it's retarded.
The touch issues you are describing could be for two different reasons.
1st, I hope you aren't using your fingernail? A capacitive screen requires skin contact.
2nd, the 2.13 ROM has serious touch sensitivity issues. There is a sticky in the "T-Mobile USA HD2 General" forum up top that gives you a .cab to install that fixes the registry for much more responsive touch scrolling.
Since you posted this in that same forum, I'm sure you will see it up there!
Thanks for the reply. I actually tried the cab above by zim or something, and it made my touch scrolling so much worse in SPB Mobile Shell. So I don't know what's going on.
Anyhow, I spoke with a T-Mobile rep, and we went through the usual rigmarole, and he told me since I can't get rid of the pink hue, I should just go back and get an exchange. Anyone think I should do this? Or are all units likely to have this problem? How many HD2 users here do not have this problem for the T-Mobile HD2 version?
A good number of the units have the "pink hue" problem. You can see several videos people have made on YouTube about this.
I have a bit of it as well.
My contention...live with it because it seems as though you have about a 50/50 chance of getting another unit with the same problem.

Is it normal to see the pink hue even through the screen though? Like, you start up the camera, even just at looking at the screen, I can see the pinkness in the center already. Is this normal?
That's my worry too. Everything else with the phone works so far. No dead pixels, no manufacturer's defects in the physical case....my worry is that by exchanging, I'm increasing the risk of obtaining one of these other problems.
Edit: Also, I have to mention that the pink hue is without flash.

Mine...on occasion it does have the pink tint but when I take the picture it is not there. People said to try to take a picture of a blank piece of white paper and see what it looks like. I tried with my phone and it looked white and my friend tried it with his iphone 3gs and it was fine as well. I read somewhere about it being an issue with a number of cameras not only the HD2. That being said a lot of people have including myself have taken really good pictures without a hint of pink?!?!

Yeah, I figured as much now. I realize when I use the pad of my thumb and scroll, it's so orgasmic and makes me jizz in my pants. And to see the scrolling without the icons being rendered as you go is.....just ....how it was supposed to be.
Funny enough though, I can't seem to hit the corners as easily. This is apparently evident when for example, you're in the Phone settings, and you have the two arrow keys on the bottom right. It's almost impossible for me to use my right thumb without hitting 10 times while my left-thumb needs about 2 ~ 3 tries. The screen seems to register the touch at the center of my thumb-pad, so to speak. Is this normal? Or does it just register the area of the thumb that gives off the most "signal", so to speak?

The pink spot was addressed by an HTC-issued patch for the euro Leo, which is still available on the HTC support/updates site for that model. But, the patch states that it's for builds prior to the ones used in the Tmo models, so I don't know that it will make a difference, but you're welcome to try it. I think the same tweak is available in all the HD2 tweaks listed in the sticky on the main page...in the list of all the "touch-x" cabs smaberg posted, there's one there for the "camera fix", I believe that's the same thing.
I haven't noticed the pink spot on my HD2 at all, and I did a test or two with a white paper...but I honestly don't remember what lighting I used. If I were you, I'd just test it several ways (indoors/outdoors/flash/no flash) and compare the results.

It's much more prevalent in indoor shots without flash. For outdoor shots, it's hard to notice it, but the farther you go away from the picture, the more noticeable the pink blur is. The radius of the pinkness get larger as the darker the ambient surround gets, at least for me.
Im still debating whether it is worth the hassle to argue for a brand new one, knowing that the reps might be reluctant to shell out a brand new HD2 over what they'd probably deem as a "minor" discoloration or something.

Hmm, but I've read online it's more to do with the low-quality of the camera parts and nothing to do with software really. Seems like a hit or miss really. Still fidgeting at this point whether to get it replaced or not since everything else works perfectly.
Anyhow, running SPB Mobile Shell on this monster results in 0 lags/freezes.

Yeah, my understanding is that the root of that issue is hardware based...the fix that was released was just an attempt to improve the way the software tries to compensate for that. But yes the only way to 100% eliminate it is to use higher-quality (and therefore bulkier) hardware components, at least from the references I've read on the topic.

What would you do Phunkee? Live with it or try your luck for a new phone?
Also, does anyone know if enabling Wireless N increases your drain when using Wi-Fi? And if you'll see a speed increase on Wireless G networks? And does enabling Wireless N count as "voiding" the phone's warranty?

If it's noticibile enough in your own pictures that it bothers you, I'd only try for a replacement phone if they can guarantee you a new one instead of a refurb (might want to take it into a store). I still can't seem to recreate the issue for sure, at least in any pictures where coloring isn't already kooky overall because of lighting irregularities.
Keep in mind too that it looks like new/replacement units are now being shipped with the 2.13 ROM from the factory, so also decide if that matters to you or not.
EDIT: I don't know about the wifi-N drain or performance improvements...I have it enabled on mine but my work and home networks are still G-only. I'm 99.8% sure though that it does NOT void your warranty to enable that.
1. There is a CAB file for the pink spots, have you tried it on your model?
2. Wireless "N" seemed to drain my power more also. And no it will not void your warranty because after a hard reset it will turn the registry tweak off. Hard Reset brings everyting back to stock except for your call timers. (unless you HPSL'd your phone).
Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. Right now, I've noticed that outdoor shots, it's hardly noticeable on the computer, so I think I'm likely to just stick with this phone. Everything runs great after all.
Anyhow, I wanted to ask, how do you guys use your screens? Do you use the base of your thumb? I can't for the life of me get scrolling to work when I use the tip of my forefinger. Not my nail, just even towards the tip, it's choppy. I test it out on the Notes program and I try to do a flick and I can understand why. Instead of a single vertical line being drawn, it's being split into 3 ~ 4 smaller lines, as though the screen is not able to register the touch continuously. Is this something to do with my personal body charge and how my finger is shaped? I only ask because I've used an iPod Touch before and I was able to scroll just fine with my finger tip. Is there anyway to improve the sensitivity even further?

There has been some sensitivity issues with 2.13; not saying that's it but a good place to start looking. There are also some registry tweaks for the flicking of your finger (how far it flips up/down). I don't have the exact link, but a quick search will get you in the right place. I personally use the end of my index fingers, thumbs, whatever finger is closest to the key I'm looking for.

by pages I wonder if you are describing lagging. Lagging should not be normal. I suggest you notate how much free ram you have and how your program screen behaves (smooth or laggy)by going to >start menu>settings>system memory. After, run clean ram and repeat the above mentioned steps. You should have more memory and a smoother user interface.

Strange banding on camera

I just tried out the camera on my new HTC One in my office. I've previously used it under normal outdoor and home lighting, without problem. Perhaps it's because of the fluorescent lighting in my office, but there is a very pronounced banding visible whenever I have anything brightly coloured in frame (see the attached picture of a pale desk). It is somewhat intermittent, and can be temporarily stopped by switching back and forth between Normal/Zoe mode, but returns immediately, once there is a large proportion of 'pale/white' object in frame. It's worth adding that I can't replicate this in the same lighting conditions with any other phone/camera.

The banding shows up on screen, in photos and in video.
may be try a factory reset ???
It will has something to do with refresh rate for sure...some of the outdoor videos shows flickering when there are trafic lights in the view e.g.

It's only 2 days old, with very little installed - never rooted, etc. I can't imagine that it would need a reset yet, but if no-one else is experiencing a similar issue I'll give it a try. As I said, it only happens in these circumstances, so it's not a major problem, just a bit annoying.

I don't see a 'whiteboard' option, but I have a 'text' option. As you can see from the attachment, it happens in text mode (and every other mode I've tried). It also still happens when I switch from 'auto' white-balance to 'fluorescent'.
UPDATE - here's a video to demonstrate the problem...

maybe its a defect

This sounds like typical HTC quality control...

drama...
Before you swap with another One,try to factory reset like other said,a software bug CAN occur out of the box,it has nothing to do with rooting or heavy use.
Also are you sure there are no transparent protection on the lens you forgot to take out?
Can you try a 3rd party camera app?
I would suggest an exchange. Very sad to see
I get it if I put my camera to a screen but that's only just to refresh rates.
Other than that, mine's fine.
Ship the phone back, it's clearly having a problem.
It is caused by fluorescent lights. Change the light source option (if it has one). Had the same problem in my office with my iphone 4s. EDIT. It was my SG1 Captivate that had that problem. Just had to choose light source to fix it.
I can't get any effect like that on mine, tried through all the camera settings, i would agree with others and exchange. Unless it is down to flourescent lighting where you are.

Capacitive button (Back) light less bright that the other (Recents)

Hi,
I just bought Lenovo ZUK Z1 like a week ago. Today I'm seeing this issue where the back button led glows noticeable less bright that the recents button led. I thought it was software issue, so I flashed CM13 to the phone. But the issue still exists. Should I ask the vendor for replacing my phone? Is anyone else facing the same issue? Any solutions?
Thanks,
Airag

Hello Airag,
Well for the starters you're not the only one facing this issue.
I bought Z1 for myself about a week ago and found out that I have the same issue as yours. Browsing through many threads here, I realized that many (especially) devices sold here in India have this problem.
In one of the threads it was suggested to open your device by yourself and put the slightly misplaced led in it's proper place. That's a bit extreme procedure I think.
I'm not sure if this problem is big enough to get the phone replaced since many other users have reported several other issues and there's no guarantee that the replaced device will be free from all such issues.
As for myself, it was such an eyesore for me that I turned the LEDs off in the settings and now I'm used to using the phone without hardware button lights.
I think before the device's warranty gets void (one year) I'll take it to a service centre to get the issue fixed, possibly for free.
Hope this helps!
I had the same issue and returned the handset for a replacement
I had the same issue with both the initial unit and the replacement unit. Not to mention, severe heating at the top corners/sides. I got myself a one time refund.
This is really poor stuff from Lenovo. And I agree with what someone suggested in one of the review videos about Lenovo simply clearing the Zuk Z1 stock in India so that they can concentrate on Zuk Z2.

You go to Settings > Buttons > Backlight > Uncheck Illuminate Buttons
If you recently brought your device from Amazon, and it's not been over 10 ten days from the day when your device was delivered, and you love your Buttons Backlit, I'd recommend you get your device replaced.
The return procedure is quite easy, you might want to consider it.

Add me to this list. My left light has has no light and the right is really dim. Went to the place I purchased and they said I have it looked at. I will not receive it until the lights work I hope they don't replace it with a lemon with working lights

Got a problem with my Galaxy note 3 amoled screen. Couple months ago some lines appeared on that, look like artefacts or dead pixels or something, not really sure. Didn't drop/drop in water the device before that. No idea why that happen. But, they don't go.
Tried some dead pixels apps from market with no success.
Due to certain reasons cannot give the device to repair service, so, need to try to fix that by myself.
OS version is 4.3, if that matters.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Will attach the screenshot. The line in the middle. Have few of them already. Background is green, to make it more visible.
Thanks!

Looks more like heat damage to the screen adhesive than a software/electronic defect, to me. I'm just guessing here, but could it have been left in a spot where a beam of focused light could burn the screen? Mine has a few little defects on the screen from where a water bottle on a window ledge focused the sunlight onto a point on the screen.
factory reset.
Flash stock rom and see .
Thanks for replies guys,
One more thing I probably should mention,
The line on the attached pic is maximized, the real lines are quite small, like 3-5mm length. Really small. But anyway visible...
Jaitsu,
Hmm tried to recall but don't think something like that happened. Sometimes I use my phone as GPS when riding bike, means it's outside under the sun (but not a focused light or something), max. 1 hour per time. Could that be reason?
Also, did you find any way to fix that, by yourself?
I read about several ways to fix screen issues, including leaving phone without battery for some time, or even placing it into the freezer. Tried battery method yesterday with no result, but kind of worry about the freezer...

Yes factory reset is a common advice but you really think it might help? Looks like a hardware issue to me. Can a software glitch damage the display? Also, lines are everywhere on the screen, not like one certain place.
Will give it a try if nothing else found, just, sounds uncommon...
Agree probably hardware but a factory reset rules out firmware .
Thats the first step for a service tech sheet .
