Ring Tone Bit Rate - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi,
When I rip a track at 192kps and via movie maker produce an audio file at 192kps - the sizes come in at about 0.5mb for a 25 secs wma ring tone.
I know the speakers are stereo, but does anyone know the range/specifications of the speakers and whether there is any need to have a high bit rate? i.e would 64kps/128kps be the same etc.
Thanks in advance.
Matt

Speakers

Hey,
I have an exec and the speakers arent that loud, cant really hear it ringing is there a limit on the volume, like a restrcition and if so can it be removed?
Noticed the same thing very weak speakers/audio output. Tend to miss at lot of calls/txts when just out walking in town.
I think this could be done, maybe not via the reg. If you look at TCPMP there is a pre-amp option which does get the sound levels up (sadly only for whats playing within TCPMP), so the hardware can make more noise.
What we need is a goodly programmer to write a pre-amp program to catch all the phone (system) sounds amp them up and output to the speaker.
I can but dream !

this would be the same as pre-amping the ring-tone on your PC and transfer it to your phone. no need to do this "live" on the phone. tcpmp only maximizes the input-level of the audio, it does not make the speaker any louder really.

Ringtones

Hi all,
I have a slight problem with my JASJAR, most times somebody calls me, I miss the phone call most times because I don't hear the phone ringing. I have sorted that out 90% of the time by making it vibrate and ring.
Anybody got a nice loud ringtone but funky? So I can hear it better? Or possibly a solution? I mean I have got all my volumes up on full. When I play music with Windows Media Player, it is nice and loud. Is there a way to get the ringtone the same volume?
Thanks.
get an audio editor for your pc (e.g. Audigy) and raise the base volume in the file.
Thing is, I play the file in Windows Media Player and its at a nice loud volume, now why cant the phone ring at that same volume, its all on max volume. Really sux

You may have set the system volume as maximum and not the phone volume?

Yeah I tried that too, I put everything as high as it can go, I jus dnt understand why, even when I choose the ringtone from the drop down list, its softer when I hear the preview of the selected file. In Windows Media Player with nothing changed its louder. Oh well.
I use Alice Cooper's Poison as a ringtone, preamped it in Windows Sound Recorder before transferring it as a wav to the phone - it's nice and loud and I have only failed to hear it once when it by some fluke started to ring roughly same time as the song came up on my MP3 player so I just thought I had a slight echo...
lol ok, well ill try amp it then, and see what happens, by how much did u amp it by?
I just did: "Increase volume by 25%" off the Effects menu of Windows Sound Recorder.

Mp3 playback via speaker or wired headphones - Hiss

Just want to find out whether this is normal.
There is a hiss during mp3 playback on my TyTN. Using the audio manager and WMP, the hissing is there on mp3 playback even when you have the program and system volume at zero.
In coreplayer and TCPMP the hissing is only when you have the volume above zero, and the hissing doesn't get louder or softer depending on volume. So its not the quality of the song. Tested with both mp3 and WMA.
Note that I am using wired headphones (Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3) through a HTC y-splitter, but I know its not the splitter or headphones because its the same through the phones speaker.
Its not a terrible sound, but you know its there. Is this something TyTN owners have just learnt to live with or is there some sort of software fix? Or is the solution to just turn the volume up so you can't hear it?
So do people just live with this background noise?

Yes - i reckon so - i searched and searched for a solution to the hiss I'm experiencing with a pair of super.fi pro 5's.
Also the minimum volume is too high with Pocket Music Player (unless you turn the preamp down - which reduces the volume without reducing the hiss!), WMP, mortplayer and HTC audio manager.
I get best results with tcpmp.
Still ... the audio is better than my plantronics stereo bluetooth headset even with the best a2dp setting.
Super.fi's are superb played through a mini disc player!
If you find a solution please post it!!
Hiss...we don't have no stinkin hiss!
Try using a player called Pocket Music. I have virtually no audible hiss. It also has a really nice graphic eq similar to Winamp that allows full control including hiss reduction if you pull back the upper most slider about 4db below center line.
I am using VP3G 3.2 and I run my bitrates at 128, or 320. Could you possibly be encoded below 128?
Convert is correct, I had to tamp the preamp gain way back in Pocket Music to have a good range of volume control too.
What phones are you using?

I get hiss and I'm encoding at between 192 - 256 kbps. Malkatraz mentioned the phones above - not sure about the splitter.
For what it's worth there seems to be no difference between tcpmp0.81RC1 Beta and Pocket Music Player except tcpmp is free (the equalizer was disabled in the freeware Pocket Music Player i downloaded).
PS. the attenuator that comes with the Super.fi 5 pro's gets rid of the hiss but the sound is slightly flatter.

Increase volume

Shoot me down if this is a silly question, but is there anyway we can increase the voume on this device other than standard volume?
The ring tones are too low and when I attached a bluetooth headset the mp3 playback is far too low to make it a good walkman device. I know about the wired headphone boost, but that is useless with my bluetooth wireless headset.
It's also too low for tomtom use and as external speakers. I think the speaker could handle more output. I dotn mind a little bit of distortion just so i can hear it.
I dunno if thsi can been done in registry or is some hardcoded in firmware
Many thanks
Use HD Tweak to disable the EU 100 db limit and increase the sound level

Thankyou very much!
You can also copy the mp3 file from the device to your computer, and open it in Audacity:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Once it's opened, choose "amplify", from the effects menu, bump it up a few dB, then export it back to MP3 and back into the phone.

[HELP] MP3 Quality Drop

Hay guys,
I've run into a stranage problem. Now I produce music an Ive since put tracks on my phone an clips to make ringtones no prob all good.
Today I decided to make an MP3 Clip for a ringtone of one of the new promos I got set. The original MP3 was 44,100 Hz, 16bit at 320kb. Did the clip at the same setting (same as all my others) but....
when It plays back it sound hollow, like in a tin can - all other mp3s sound fine via the main speaker. Ive tryed dropping the vol of the mp3 in general before saving the file, dropping it to a 128K MP3 & also saving it as a WAV but the same problem.
Any ideas why it sounds this way & none of the others?
Im on the factory rom
Thanks
Leigh
