Universal - LCD removal instructions - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

i'm looking for detailed instructions on how to remove and re-assemble the LCD panel in an imate JasJar..
my unit was dropped and it has cracked the LCD panel...
i have ordered a replacement from the US to ship to AUS and i would like some detailed instructions before i start pulling things apart...
if this has been performed by someone else it will make my job easier...

Look on the ftp site here for the full service manual for the universal.

yes... i conducted a search on the site and found everything i need...
it's always a good idea to do a search... or so i found out.

can i buy 8125 parts or a disassembly guide?

hi. i tried searching a couple forums but haven't found anything regarding a place to buy 8125 parts or a manual to take it apart. i do have the proper t5 driver and just can't seem to get it open. thanks.
Would not recommend disassembly unless you are very experienced
see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43381
and good pictures here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43748
thanks a bunch!
Theorist and others who need to do the same, here is the progress I made. The back cover for the 8125/Wiza100 is different than the others. Instead of prying on the side (per the service manual), I pryed at the edges of the keyboard area. The PCB is held in by two clips and a phillips head screw. Everything else should be along the lines of the service manual. Also, if you are just replacing the LCD/touchscreen, you can skip the steps about removing the vibrator, camera, and taking apart the keyboard.

Screen cracked

This evening i cracked my mda vario 2 screen. what is the best solution?
-buy a 2nd hand tytn
-bring back for repair (warranyt?)
or
can i replace this screen with the one from a MDA vario 1 does anybody know if thats the same
or i need to find a brick vario2 (does anyone in the netherlands have one?)
what do you think?
I'd go for warranty option.
Someone tried the wizard screen and though it fits it is not quite the same see this thread:

Yep, those ebay pics look the same as the ones (some anyway) as the ones on the first post of the thread I gave above.
It can be tricky, but crtainly not impossible with a little skill to change the screen. for dismantling see the following link and also the wiki under Hermes Hardware overview pictures.

Replacement of touchscreen!

Does anybody have a manual for the replacement of a touch screen, and an adress to buy touch-screen for MDA Compact !
try ebay...i saw some touchscreens for $20 AUD, which is cheap...
Though dont know how to replace it, looks HARD.
whitemoo.
Thanks! I hope someone has a online manual...
Wel if its anything like the xda2 then replacing the screen is very easy as its just a few screws and a ribbon cable. I had a broken screen xdII and took it apart to see how hard it was to reinstall myself, it was very easy cos like i said it was a few screws and a ribbon cable.
There's a guide with pics in pdf format in this forum, just search for it.
Its very simple as long as you are patient and you don't force anything while trying to open up the phone.
I have worked on couple of Imate Jams and wizards with out a manual without breaking anything.
I have seen the manual on the wiki I believe....
BTW I would suggest using one of those ebay cellphone repair kits that come with the plastic tool to open the phone that helps alot.

Looking for technical documents (schematic)

Hi,
I dropped my Hermes (belt clip broke) and now I have two problems with it:
1) the keys around the joypad don't work.
2) most of the time the display is just white but sometimes it still work, but the pixels are shifted down about 5 (the bottom 5 lines are at the top.
I checked the Wiki but the service manual has no diagrams in it so I can't troubleshoot to find which PCB is broken. Summed up it just says replace to boards one by one until the problem is solved. I've diassembled it and looked with a magnifiying glass but I can't find a crack. After reassembly everythings the same (yes, I double checked the connections to make sure none were loose). I'm guessing that the break is somewhere in the middle of a multi-layer PCB where it is not visible.
So what I'm looking for is any type of schematic diagrams that will allow me to trace connections. Then I'll know what part to order.
Any ideas?
Cheers

still broke
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the info. I was afraid it would be difficult to get a copy of the drawings. I'm a master electronic technician and have the equipment to to do some testing but it doesn't help to just randomely measure PCB traces without knowing where they go or what signals should be there. The PCB I was referring to is the D-Pad board. It appears to be a 4 layer board, which makes it imposssible to trace manually.
I read the complete 13 page ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349476 ) post about the WSOD but none it doesn't seem to be touch sensitive. It doesn't matter where I put preasure, there is no change.
I don't want to start buying replacement parts on a trial and error basis because that would get expensive if I don't find the problem on the first go. Maybe I'll buy a defective unit on Ebay (or if anyone has one to sell I'm in Germany. PM me) and try from there.
Cheers
DB
Don't know if this will help, but someone submitted some service manuals to my site ages ago.

Replacing Housing help needed

I would like to replace the housing of my Tytn II EU
Including the front keyboard and the case buttons.
Where can I find instructions how to open the case?
Where to buy the best quality (original) housing?
Help appreciated!
John
First, you dont specify which Kaiser you're looking to disassemble. 2nd, we have a search feature on this forum. It works rather well too. You could of typed less in the search box and found your answer almost immediately. But instead, you chose to contribute more clutter to our forum. Thanks.
I found this in 2 seconds flat...

Always check out the Wiki first. You'll be surprised at what you will learn by reading it.

Can you tell I haven't had my coffee yet?
Thanks for the quick reply.
Sorry to kick-in an open door, but I am new to the forum and could not find it.
I just added the information in my original message.
I should have mentioned it in the title.
I am looking for a detailed instruction on desassembling the Tytn II
Thanks John

I can let you know from personal experience that it is very simple to get in and strip down the phone to the bare case. I bought a very well used and battle scarred phone on ebay and replaced the case in under half an hour; (proper tools used) a T6 and a small phillips were used. To separate the casing from PCBs i just used my fingernail, but a credit card can be used ( it was just cumbersome for me). Mike has got the expanation down with video and everything. If you run into any problems, just give a shout!
