Hi!
The powerbutton of my XDAII is broken, which hasn't been a problem for years now. But yesterday it fall asleep and a softreset doesn't wakes it up anymore.
How can I perform a hardreset from outside?
Is there a software for PC, which wakes the XDAII up?
Thanks,
Sebastian
if you leave out the battery for a long time it should hardreset

is it helpful to remove the battery as a "cold reset" ?

guys i have a similar problem. my power button has broken and i turn on the device with the record button (i have remapped the buttons). Yesterday i turnd it on and the screen freezed on the today screen . I performed a soft reset, the screen went blank and it never turned on. Now the device is dead, soft reset won't work, it doesn't seem to charge (no light when i put it on the cradle) and i cannot perform a hard reset because i do not have a working power on/off button.
Is there anything i can do to turn it on?

Try to remove main battery for a longer time(up to 1 hour or more). The backup battery will discharged what causes hard-reset afterwards.

Hi all,
I got a problem with my MDA compact.
It happened just today, i pressed power button to put phone into standby and the screen just stayed lit showing the today screen, but i lost all functioning.
The phone doesnt respond to anything until a reset.
Ive tried a hard reset and the power button works when ur aliging screen etc... but when the today screen loads it ***** up again.
Any thoughts?
Hey all,
It seems to be fixed now, i just did multiple hard resets...
i've the same problem - sometimes my magician disables all hardware buttons.
i suspect the bluesolei blutooth stack - because i've not installed it after last hard reset and all works fine.
The topic is quite clear - I installed the a2dp-hack some time ago - Bluetooth still was OK.
Before I overclocked the device (with the great tool from ikarus) the bluetooth function stopped working I.e. when I tap the bluetooth button in the comm-manager, the wait-for-process-symbol appears for 3 sec and nothing happens. Made a hard-reset yesterday to solve the problem - still no working bluetooth.
Is there a difference in doing a hard reset and doing a hard-reset and removing the battery?
Would be the last trick prior to sending the device to O2 Germany for replacement...
Or do you experts have an advice?
Cheers
Mic
hardreset:
push the commanager and the photo button and then press the softreset button with teh stylus near the usb plug.
when you see: "Press send to restore factory default, Other keys to quit" then press the green phone button and the hardreset ist done!
a removing from the battery ist no hardreset.

Hi,looking for some help please. The PDA has suddenly started to soft restart everytime the powerbutton is pressed, either to switch on or off. I can only get it to screen off on auto timed shut down. It will take incoming calls okay but if I press the on button to make a call it resets. Any ideas before I hard reset it? Last thing done was add a contact, no updates or the likes.
Had quick search for this but couldn't find an answer, for this problem just the jammed soft reset button which my has not got that works normally.
Thanks inadvance

Have you tried to switch it off by an application like ppcShutdown, to see if you have the same problem ?
Cheers,
.Fred
Hi Dotfred, I haven't no. It will time off okay after 3 minutes of nil use. But have to press the powerswitch to turn back on. Then wait for soft reset function to run its course.
Do you have to use the powerswitch with ppc shutdown to 'switch' it back on?
I've been able to back everything up now so will try the hard reset see if that sorts it.
Any other thoughts would be appriecated
Many thanks

I was trying to find out if it was related to the switch off of the ppc or to the power button.
Since it seems this is purely related to the power button, I wonder if an installed prog has been assigned to the power button and so generates a soft reset. I think that your best choice is indeed a hard reset, because I really don't know if there is an easy way to find out what's happening with the power button.

.Fred
