Hey guys,
I was wondering whether the Qtek test rom that can be found here:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Qtek/RUU_Prodigy_2080701_101_11310_Qtek_WWE_Test.exe
has changed the BT stack in the wizard to allow the caller id functionality of the Jabra BT-800 to become usable, sending both NAME and number (instead of number only) to the BT headset. I know that there is a taiwanese headset with a caller ID LCD readout as well, so it might work on this one as well.
If anyone has tried, please let me know. I was hoping that the A2DP in the test rom would add this functionality. Thanks to everyone on this great forum!

Hi all,
Few weeks ago I read in this forum, but I forgot whether is there any solution for above mention subject.
Is there any bluetooth that support Voice command? Or any bluetooth headset v1.2 is compatible with it?
Say that I like to have bluetooth headset that I need to press the button to call, to get appointment, etc just by say it to the headset.
This would be great as you have personal assistance

Arto.
Hi,
I think it was me who posted the message but I still am looking for a peice of software for the MDA Compact that allows voice commands through my HBH600 - anyone?
Thanks
Msuk
As far as i know, this is not supported by the MS Stack used by the magician.
I don't get it. Everyone was saying that the Widcomm/Broadcom stack was no good for Voice Command, and now we've got Microsoft and their own stack is still no good.
So, who's manufacturing a stack that actually works?
I hear that the ETEN M-series (500, 600, perhaps earlier) works with Voice Command over the BT headset, so what stack are they using?
That the best thing I have ever heard, to be able to just push the button on the head set to give Voice command a request instead of pulling the phone out of your pocket all the time would be great.
Hi,
I used to be able to issue voice commands for my contacts when I had a SE P900. Also the callers name was announced in the BT and using my voice I could say 'Answer' or 'busy' why cant the MDA Compact be able to do this? MDA Compact get some many things right but gets a whole load of other functionality totally wrong :-(
Thanks
Msuk
Check this out...
Someone over at HowardForums.com's Pocket PC forum was able to tell me that the Eten M500 Pocket PC Phone Edition uses the Microsoft Bluetooth stack (although "enriched" or modified) and they apparently can use Voice Command over the Bluetooth headset, and even activate it by pushing the action button on the headset!
http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=181 ... See "My new Eten M500" thread.
So, I'm asking anyone who's got the Extended ROM to upload it or post it somewhere so we can take a closer look!
Thanks people.
Anyone have o2 mini and Motorolla HS-850 bluetooth handsfree?
This handsfree is bluetooth v1.2. I am wondering if I can use this bluetooth for above purpose. Not perfect maybe, but at least I can get caller id readed by voice command better than sony HBH-660 caller id display.
Anyone with HS-850 please comment.
Thank you in advance.

Depends how you define 'works'. It passes the number across to the headset, but not the name in your Contacts.
Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping it would pass the name
Anyone know if the Sony Ericsson HBH-662 does?
Bt800 and XDA IIi
I also experience the following problem with my iMATE PDA2 (XDA IIi) and BT800:
Call 1: Number is 1-111-111. Shows up properly on BT800. Call is not answered (missed call).
Call 2: Number is blocked (caller ID blocked). BT800 shows the number from Call 1.
If Call 1 had been answered, Call 2 would work correctly. Seems to be a problem with missed calls.
The problem could be related to the BT800 and not the PDA itself. No one has chimed in with an answer to my posts, so I don't have a solution.
Just FYI...

I believe there is no solution on the market for any phone and b/t headset combination that will correctly pass the name across. I'd love to be proved wrong though :?:
Hi Guys,
I have an I-mate JasJar and a Sonyericsson hbh-662. Both of them get along better than chandler and joey, except for the caller ID function. When a call comes in, immediately the number of the person calling is displayed but not the name. Even if the person calling is a saved contact, it still shows only the number.
Do you guys have any other workaround?
Other than that, i can voice dial using BT headset without even touching my phone, call clarity is superb and range is very good. Overall, a great headset. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.
UD.
I have a JasJar with a HBH 660 and it works the same: caller id number but not the name, nither if is on the SIM card.
I was thinking it would work with 662 which is bluetooth 1.2 complaint.
Are we missing some settings?Guido
I have read in a forum on Exapansys that on a Imate Jam it shows the name if you have MS VOice COmmand 1.5 installed.
Have you try it?
That reminds me, does the HBH-662 have the "noise cancellation" feature? Its known as DSP. does the 662 support it?
UD.
Hmmm, are you sure about that? Can you give me a link to that page? I highly doubt if that is possible, but if you say so, i wouldnt mind looking into it.
UD.
I have both a BT800 and an HBH660, both of which have a disply and both of which only display the number when used with the JasJar.
Both display the contact name when connected to me SE P910i.
I have the same problem with my C550 too. It seems that the MS bluetooth stack doesn't send the caller Id data when in hands free mode.

here is the link.

Let me know if with ms voice command the caller name appear.
I am very interested too.
For some odd reason, i could not get it to install on my JASJAR, activesync issues i suppose.
Can one of you install it on the JASJAR and give us feedback?
UD.
I have VoiceCommand v1.5 installed and neither my BT800 nor my HBH-660 display the caller name.
That sucks!!!
Which headset do you prefer between the both rilot and why?
UD.
I like both of them for differnet reasons. I use the both all the time. The BT800 on my JasJar and the HBH-660 on my C550.
The HBH-660 is small, light and stylish. More comfortable too, but the battery life is poor compared with the BT800. It also seems to drop calls more frequently. If only the JasJar and C550 could send the caller ID data they would be perfect. Not the fault of the headsets though.
All in all, I prefer the BT800 but both headsets are excellent.
Thanks for the info.
I had used the BT800 for a while before but i always had trouble getting it on my ear and pressing the buttons to answer/reject a call also was rather uncomfortable. With the HBH-662, i can do everything with one button and its sits very well on the ear, so i prefer this
Also, the BT800 seems to crackle with the JASJAR, i dont know why. I have personally experienced this, and that too when the device was right next to me. The HBH-662 on the other hand has superb audio quality, very happy over all.
Thanks again for your observations,
UD.
same problem with HBH-200 from SE...

Hello all, does anyone know of there will be an update to the JASJAR (universal) so that it send the name of the person calling to a Caller ID BT Headset and not just the number...???
we need an update of the BT stack... someone know if microsoft is working on it ? it would be very usefull for my jabra BT 800
It is very interesting also for me, I use a SE HBH-660 and I need to know who is calling. I hope in a next firmware update.
I try it with a WWE and an ITA version of the ROM.
I use my XDA Exec in closed clamshell mode most of the time, and the biggest shortfall of the Universal is the lack of a caller display in that mode without opening it.
I'm looking at a Sony Ericsson HBH-200 BT headset as a possible solution, but if I understand it correctly you then have to take the call via BT which isn't appropriate at work (even with the bud-type earpiece).
Is there a wired headset with caller disply on the market that would fit the Universal, with the option then to take the call on the headset or on the phone? I've googled with little success..
Hi,
I do not understand why is it not appropriate to bluetooth headset at work? I find that it will make you look more professional and you will not be finding yourself tangled up with wires! You can simple place your BT headset in your breast pocket while not in use. And when there is a incoming call, just wear it. You will find that it is much better than a wired headset. I wear my Jabra JX10 the moment I stand out of my house till the time I return home.
Anyway, if you are looking for a BT headset with caller ID, I would recommend you Jabra BT800. It is small, comfortable to wear and has vibrate option! I was using that before I change to JX10.
Anyway, Good luck hunting for the right BT headset for you!
Regards,
Johnnie
Basically, it would not be possible over wires alone, as there are only 4 pins on the headset connector - Ground, Left out, right out and mic in. This gives no headroom for enhanced functionality headsets.
Thanks for the replies - the Sony Ericsson it is, then!
does anyone know if the Jabra BT800 shows the name of the caller or just the number of the caller.
Thanks
It displays just the number, something to do with the version of the bluetooth stack used in the Universal.
Thanks for the reply, so that means I would have to remember everybodies telephone numbers. Maybe the new rom coming for the Jasjar on the 23rd of this month Feb. will have a fix.
So are you saying its only a Universal problem, will you get a caller id name of the caller on any other phone?
The new rom may indeed fix the problem, I hope it does contain the new version of the bluetooth stack as I have this headset.
Any phone that is using the old stack will suffer from the problem unfortunately. I don't know which phones has the new stack (or aren't using the Microsoft stack at all).
Cheers
