Depends how you define 'works'. It passes the number across to the headset, but not the name in your Contacts.
Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping it would pass the name
Anyone know if the Sony Ericsson HBH-662 does?
Bt800 and XDA IIi
I also experience the following problem with my iMATE PDA2 (XDA IIi) and BT800:
Call 1: Number is 1-111-111. Shows up properly on BT800. Call is not answered (missed call).
Call 2: Number is blocked (caller ID blocked). BT800 shows the number from Call 1.
If Call 1 had been answered, Call 2 would work correctly. Seems to be a problem with missed calls.
The problem could be related to the BT800 and not the PDA itself. No one has chimed in with an answer to my posts, so I don't have a solution.
Just FYI...

I believe there is no solution on the market for any phone and b/t headset combination that will correctly pass the name across. I'd love to be proved wrong though :?:

HBH 660 BT Caller ID working with o2 Mini ?
Hi darren, no problem. The HBH-660 work correctly with O2 Mini and the call number is displayed.
Bye
and hbh-200
Hi, and hbh-200 display number?. I have qtek s100.
thanks
There is a problem with hbh-660 and XDA II mini.
The caller id is not automatically shown on hbh-660 display when there is a call. I need to press vol up/down before can see the caller id.
Hopefully someone fix this.
Also, if we can see sms on hbh-660 scrolling......
Best regards,
Arto
is this true?
it is even working with the XDA IIs, tried it about 2 months ago. But it will only dislay the caller's number, not the ID
HBH-660
It is shown the name instead the number (but only if the number is on your contact list).
The problem is when there is a call, the HBH-660 is not shown the name/number until we press +/- button.
Best regards,
Arto
Hi all
I just got my SonyEricssion HBH-662 headset and I observed that if I press the "Call handling" button when the headset is not in a call, my magician will emit a beep, as if a button have been pressed, but nothing happens after that.
This makes me think that maybe the press of the button was received by the magician, but it doesn't know what to do with it and ignored it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to explore this further? Maybe this can lead to the possibility of activating MS Voice Command through this button???
Thanks

ps. I am using QTek 1.12.00 WWE (with MKS bigrom modification) rom
Hi,
I have HBH-660. There is a tone if I press the button for about 2 second. And if I continue press the button it will shut off.
I don't think HBH-660 can be used for Microsoft Voice Command with O2 mini
Sorry to let you know that.
Arto
I mean HBH-660 and HBH 662. Both almost equal in the specs.
Arto
Hi Arto
My HBH-662 beeps after pressing the button for 2 seconds too. But not only does my HBH-662 beeps, but my Magician beeps also in response to the button press. To me, that seems like the Magician gets the button press, (because the Magician beeps), but just don't know what to do with it. So if we could some how map that press to activate voice command, then it will be the first headset to be able to do so with the Magician (I hope)....
Yes, the HBH-660 is similiar to HBH-662, but HBH-662 uses Bluetooth v1.2, while HBH-660 uses v1.1. The Magician uses v1.2. I don't know if this make a difference though.
Slider
My HBH-660 also behave the same. I think o2 mini just try to see whether HBH-660 connected via Bluetooth or not connected.
If HBH-662 capable of doing microsoft voice command, I'll buy it no matter if the price 2 or 3 times HBH-660. But I think it is not. Others like Motorola HS-850 also have 1.2 bt spec. But nobody have it work with voice command.

Does HBH-662 display caller's name?
Hi guys,
I'm about to sell my Jabra BT800, because it's only able to display caller's phone number, not name, while using it with Magician. I also have ROM & radio 1.11 WWE.
Could Sony Ericsson HBH-662 solve my problem? Does it display caller's name? Any tweaking or ROM upgrading required to get this working?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
As I said in the other thread, IMO the way forward for VC BT Activation on the jam is to find out what Eten did to the M500 to get it working.....
Re: Does HBH-662 display caller's name?
I have the same hardware/firmware and am using HBH-662. It shows only phone number and no name. So don't need to sell your BT800.
As for the beep - if I press briefly on my HBH-662, my i-Mate Jam will respond by a beep. Usually after this the headset symbol will show up (usually disappears after a while).

HBH-660 display inconsistant
My HBH-660 displays caller-ID or caller name inconsistently. Sometime it is caller number, and sometimes it is caller name. Is there any reason to that? Can;t seem to find out the cause for displaying only the caller number and not caller name....
i have the hbh-30 and when i press the button on the headset it keeps beeping ever second or so and keeps doing that, the headset symbol pops up on my jam and it keeps beeping. to stop it i have to press and hold the button on my headset and it off.
if you guys are having issues with number & contact showing up, why dont you try the bluesoil stack?
Try this:

Hi Guys,
I have an I-mate JasJar and a Sonyericsson hbh-662. Both of them get along better than chandler and joey, except for the caller ID function. When a call comes in, immediately the number of the person calling is displayed but not the name. Even if the person calling is a saved contact, it still shows only the number.
Do you guys have any other workaround?
Other than that, i can voice dial using BT headset without even touching my phone, call clarity is superb and range is very good. Overall, a great headset. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.
UD.
I have a JasJar with a HBH 660 and it works the same: caller id number but not the name, nither if is on the SIM card.
I was thinking it would work with 662 which is bluetooth 1.2 complaint.
Are we missing some settings?Guido
I have read in a forum on Exapansys that on a Imate Jam it shows the name if you have MS VOice COmmand 1.5 installed.
Have you try it?
That reminds me, does the HBH-662 have the "noise cancellation" feature? Its known as DSP. does the 662 support it?
UD.
Hmmm, are you sure about that? Can you give me a link to that page? I highly doubt if that is possible, but if you say so, i wouldnt mind looking into it.
UD.
I have both a BT800 and an HBH660, both of which have a disply and both of which only display the number when used with the JasJar.
Both display the contact name when connected to me SE P910i.
I have the same problem with my C550 too. It seems that the MS bluetooth stack doesn't send the caller Id data when in hands free mode.

here is the link.

Let me know if with ms voice command the caller name appear.
I am very interested too.
For some odd reason, i could not get it to install on my JASJAR, activesync issues i suppose.
Can one of you install it on the JASJAR and give us feedback?
UD.
I have VoiceCommand v1.5 installed and neither my BT800 nor my HBH-660 display the caller name.
That sucks!!!
Which headset do you prefer between the both rilot and why?
UD.
I like both of them for differnet reasons. I use the both all the time. The BT800 on my JasJar and the HBH-660 on my C550.
The HBH-660 is small, light and stylish. More comfortable too, but the battery life is poor compared with the BT800. It also seems to drop calls more frequently. If only the JasJar and C550 could send the caller ID data they would be perfect. Not the fault of the headsets though.
All in all, I prefer the BT800 but both headsets are excellent.
Thanks for the info.
I had used the BT800 for a while before but i always had trouble getting it on my ear and pressing the buttons to answer/reject a call also was rather uncomfortable. With the HBH-662, i can do everything with one button and its sits very well on the ear, so i prefer this
Also, the BT800 seems to crackle with the JASJAR, i dont know why. I have personally experienced this, and that too when the device was right next to me. The HBH-662 on the other hand has superb audio quality, very happy over all.
Thanks again for your observations,
UD.
same problem with HBH-200 from SE...

Ok guys and Gals, I need a Bluetooth Headset, as my Cellink doesn't seem to work.
Any recommendations or a list of BT headsets that are being used by you all
TIA
tt 5 seams run ok even with o2 active installed hasnt crashed yet
I have a bluespoon AX which is very, very small, and makes me look less of a tit than using other large headsets or the Universal itself.
Thanks for the replies, I've also sent an email to cellink regarding this issue. If I get a reply I'll post it here.
Ok finally after a bit of a wait I have a reply from Cellink. they say it should be able to work, and since my last attempt I have got it to be recognised.
Unfortunately when the xda rings I can only hear very faint sounds coming from the headset, I've tried the volume controls on the headset and on the xda.
Maybe I'm missing something! anyone care to comment?
I've got a Motorola HS-850 and it works really well. I especially like being able to just close the fold-in mic boom and it switching the headset off completely. Can last well over a week without needing to be charged.
Cheers,
Smiff.
I have a Jabra BT800, so i can see number of incoming callers without open my JASJAR.
Have Fun
Hi all does anyone know if the xda exec supports Audio Gateway Profiles?

Are you saying that you can read the number displayed whilst the BT800 is on your ear? I tried holding a watch up in that position but couldn't read the dial at all - so went for the new thin Jabra BT500. Perhaps its just my tired old eyes.
I'd like to see a picture of that lol  my eyes are aching just thinking about it

That's just what I thought. I couldn't see the point of having a display on the headset if I could only read the display before putting on the headset. Takes much longer to put on the headset, than it does to open the phone or lift the phone to your ear. And what would be the point of the display whilst you're driving?
There's another model, Sony or Motorola (?), that has a display on the outside of the headset - Just so that you can tell everyone around you who has phoned you. Duh! Seems even more pointless to me.
Will be the best... i suppose....

I use my old SE HBH 200 handsfree and so far everything is well. I use it cos the LCD display is not near my ear so I can see it very fast. http://www.infosyncworld.com/reviews/n/5488.html

oki doki, but to what extent functionality of BT 800 is for real ?
1. does it give you just the number, no matter, whether the contact IS IN the contact book already ? or it gives you the name instead of number ? assuming it is for already stored contact ...
2. what is the roughly distance between Exec and BT800 allowing for smooth operation and without strange noises ?
I am looking for good and fully functional BT headset for my Exec but as far as I am concerned there is a problem on BT800 with a/m functionalities

I have a Sony Ericson HBH 662, and it works fine.

I have an XDA Exec and am using it with a Sony ericsson HBH 662 Bluetooth headset. They work absolutely great together and i can voice dial from my bt headset perfectly using the inbuilt Voice dialing.
However, i was attracted to Microsofts version of this, MS Voice Command, because it will verbally anounce the name (or number) of the caller. This, i thought would be simply perfect to use with the HBH 662, as it would save me from having to take the thing off my ear every time to see whos calling. (still much simpler than opening up the Exec!!)
I have installed the demo version of MS Voice Command and find that the caller id announcement only works on the device itself and NOT the BT headset. This defeats the object of me getting it, so i would really really like to know if anyone has a solution to this at all?
Please someone out there help me as if i could get this to work then im a very happy bunny!
Hi Goonerfish
you need to follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29837&highlight=
best,
mikey mike
Hi Mikey Mike,
Thanks for that. I had seen that thread but was unsure whether that would also allow the caller id announcements to be heard on the headset?
I know that with that thread you are able to voice command from the headset, but it is unclear as to whether the device sends the sound (incoming caller id) to the headset?
Have you tried this and can you confirm that it will work?
Also, i have noticed that the caller id alert is coming out pretty quiet? You had the same problem and do you know a way around that?
Many thanks
Goonerfish
hi goonerfish
no - the incoming caller id doesn't go to the headset - no idea how you do that - sorry.
the caller id alert conflicts with the ringtone so tends to be drowned out a bit - i find it really clear for appointments.
