is support of slow hopping mandatory for GSM base stations?

850 band SIM converter for XDA II

Hey guys ,we all know that the XDA II and the XDA IIi have only a Tri-band (GSM 900/1800/1900) but do you thing that we can use an sim converter to add the 850 band, so the phone will be avaliable worldwide?
regards
Jorge
i doubt it it's nothing to do with the sim really it's the gsm radio hardware i think which is hardware limited to some frequencys
if they made it custonising then one may be able to change it messing with
pot's and such
otherwise it would require new crystals inside the gsm module

will atrix from us ATT work in UK voda 3g

Hi guys just wondering if I bought a atrix and used it in UK will I get 3g internet?
I would also like to know this question because Voda australia is getting a 850MHz upgrade so the atrix will work but I'm not sure about other spectrums.
Find out what Vodas 3G bands are and compare. Google it up. No need for this thread.
Yes the atrix supports worldwide 3g. The only GSM 3G it won't do is t mobile in the us.

DHD 3G support for T-Mobile US

Hey guys I have a Qs regarding the network frequencies of DHD. Our DHD supports 3G at 900 and 2100 I believe ( UK Version).
I am currently in US and using T-Mobile which has 3G network on 1700/2100.
Is there a way around to get this phone working on this network ? Or i have to do with a edge only.
Thanks alot for ur input.

You will ha e edge only. It is hardware related. While you could swap out the hardware I would not suggest it. Please search before opening a new thread as this has been talked about 1000's of times over the years.

[Q] T Mobile 3g on Galaxy 3 from India

Hi,
I recently shifted to US. I am using T Mobile SIM. I have no issues with GPRS but 3G doesn't work as T Mobile operates 3G on 1700 MHz.
Is there a way to make our beloved G3 work 1700 MHz for 3G signals?
Or is it hardware related which cannot be change?
This is quite common with T mobile as the frequency used by them is beyond what our phone can handle.
T mobile lost the fame it had due to this.
Not only our galaxy 3 but most of other phones won't work with 3g.
Hence you find less manufacturers releasing 3g phones with t mobile
Contract
There is no possible way to do what you said. The phone antenna itself can't handle higher frequency. If possible why would not manufacturers release phones with t mobile branding
