Dropped Compact, now no GSM - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

My wife dropped her MDA Compact and now there is no GSM function.
The boot screen shows:
No GSM
D 1.01.00 WWE
I have tried to flash it with a new radio but the flash will not complete.
The unit was working fine before the accident, both with and without a SIM.
I am competent at flashing, I've flashed many devices including PC BIOSs, SE phones, my Universal and my iPAQ. I'm currently trying to cook a ROM for my m5000, but that is for another forum.
On running MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe I get this:
CE version = 1.01.00
Extended ROM =
Radio =
To:
CE version = 1.13.00
Extended ROM = 1.12.550
Radio = 1.12.00
Then it starts the flash.
When stage 1 fails the error that comes up is:
ERROR 114: RADIO ROM UPDATE ERROR
After the hard reset the PDA works fine (nothing has changed, radio is first flash to happen) and both OS and extended ROMs are loaded. Back to square one.
Is this worth fixing, or would it be cheaper to buy her a new one please?
I welcome opinions, I'm not asking for a certainty.
Thanks.

hello PReDiToR.
the unit that sorunded in red (in the Attached picture) is connected to the main board with tiny connector, and this connector is a male to female connector. the male is solderd to the main board and the female to the unit. my guess is that one of the connector parts (the male or the female) was disconnect from its soldering, and you need to resold it. but it is just my guess based on my experience.

Thanks for your advice, it was a help to me in that it made me open the unit again to have a look.
It doesn't appear to be the problem that you described.
I started prising off the RF shields and discovered that one of the chips is broken, the top has come off the chip.
I know that this is one of those situations where no matter how good I am at soldering I just don't have the right equipment to fix it, so does anyone know what chip this is and where I can source a replacement please?

How to test the center phone speaker?

Hi,
My Wizard works fine except for one problem: when using it as a phone, the little top center speaker doesn't work; I hear nothing.
(no, changing the volume level doesn't help.)
I can now only use it as a phone by either activating the speaker phone function (which lets everone else around me hear what's being said), or use a bluetooth headset.
Both are not really convenient.
Is there any way to test the center speaker without first disassembling the whole thing? activate it with another program besides 'telephone'?
Maybe such a test shows the speaker itself is OK, so no disassembling needed (but what then...).
Any help is welcome.

Protocol version 4.1.13.24

It has also run the original and updates T-Mobile ROMS with the same problem: no center speaker.

Prophet --> Charmer, similarities? intriguing find..

hey all
I recently got my charmer back from HTC, it was refusing to read memory cards. in the slip that came back with it, it stated that they had replaced the mainboard.
i promptly proceeded to open the device up (without voiding the warranty of course! ) and went and lifted up one of the 'RF plates' that is on the mainboard, found that, underneath that board, as with the previous (broken mainboard that i had before that wouldnt read memory cards) under that exact same RF shield was empty solder points.
now, i've noticed that the specs otherwise of the prophet and charmer are more or less IDENTICAL.
BOTH use the Omap 850 Processor
BOTH have 128/64 ROM/RAM
BOTH have same dimensions of 108 x 58 x 18 mm (HxWxD)
BOTH use same same 240x320 64k colour screen
differences are:
Prophet has WI-FI, Charmer does NOT
Prophethas 2.0mp camera, Charmer has 1.3
Prophet is available in G4 and G3 'flavours', Charmer has 'one type for all'
the reason for this thread is the following: I would like to obtain/install an AKU 3.x update for my Charmer as I have noticed considerable differences between AKU 2.0 and AKU 3.x on a different handset. mainly in that AKU 3.x looks considerably better, performs considerably better and is just generally a lot better than AKU 2.0.
my *theory* is: if i was to download a copy of the AKU 3.3.07 ASERG ROM update for the Prophet, REMOVE the bootloader section of the ROM update, and either:
1) Replace the bootloader with that from a Charmer ROM
2) ONLY flash the OS partition of the ROM
and then proceeded to flash the modified update to my Charmer, all i would like to know (and this is really a question to the Pro's)
would it
a) work, and be really really buggy like camera not working and stuff, or,
b) brick my device?
ANY help on this is appreciated. i would really like to get under development some sort of an AKU3.x update for the charmer. it is hideously under-developed! its a great little handset and a shame no other carriers carry the handset!
any and all help/advice would be greatly appreciated.and also, im learning! so dont be too harsh!
thank you.
AS you can see, Wizard ROMs seem to work on prophet, you can see this as the WM6 ones are derivate from Wizard's, Wizard also shares it's processor and many other stuff with prophet, but I don't know if this applies to charmer, you'll have to check mem addresses and other stuff... I'm quite sure you'll have to replace the camera driver and have to manage a way to disable the Wifi part of the rom somehow... Î just don't know how you'll manage to do that...
I don't think you'll brick your device as long as you don't install the bootloader part (IPL/SPL)

Speaker sound lost during upgrade from WM5 to WM6

Hi ,
I have a Wizard (Qtek 9100) with WM5 and I wanted to upgrade to WM6.
So I followed the tutorial from Wiki, and managed to upgrade to BlackDiamond 3.1 Touch, I was happy and then very sad when I found out that there is no sound from speaker, but it works with earphones.
I searched the forum and found that
There's a little connector in the earphone slot which bends in the way its not supposed to bend which in fact causes the effect that the phone thinks the earphones are plugged in.
Click to collapse
but I never used the earphones before.
The sound went off in the update process, but I didn't notice at which step.
Initially my Wizard had
WM5
ROM : 2.17.7.2
RADIO : 02.07.10
IPL : 2.17
SPL : 2.17
The step I followed from the Wiki :
1. Install "Button ROM"
IPL become 1.01
SPL become 1.01
RADIO become 1.12.10.0
OS 1.5.4.2
PROTOCOL 4.0.13.23
2. I used "Lokiwiz 0.2b" Tool to SIM Unlock and CID Unlock
IPL remain 1.01
SPL become 1.01.0000
3. Install "T-mobile Official WM5 ROM"
IPL become 2.26
SPL become 2.26
RADIO become 02.25.11
OS 2.26.10.2
PROTOCOL 4.1.13.12
4. Upgrade to IPL/SPL 3.08
IPL become 3.08
SPL become 3.08
RADIO remain 02.25.11
OS remain 2.26.10.2
PROTOCOL remain 4.1.13.12
5. Install "BlackDiamond 3.1 Touch"
IPL remain 3.08
SPL remain 3.08
RADIO remain 02.25.11
OS became 11.0.0.1
PROTOCOL remain 4.1.13.12
Since I did not move (dropped, disturbed) the Wizard from it's place during the upgrade procedure, I think that the sound problem is software related.
And another question, I noticed that RADIO version remain the same from WM5 to WM6, it's normal or should I upgrade the Radio ?
Edit: I upgrade to Radio 02.47.11, still no sound!
Edit: I tried to call my brother, the mic works and also I can hear him loud and clear from small receiver. But when choose "Speaker On" still no sound!
Does someone has the "Diagnostic Program", so I can run speaker test.
Any help and suggestions appreciated!
Speaker sound lost also
Sadly, the same happened to me with my HTC x7500. I still have not found a solution, but will keep you posted if I do.http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
speaker sound lost 2
I have a dopod 383pro (i think the same as a HTC Hermes) upgraded to wm6; sound was fine. I then did 2 things in a row & lost normal speaker sound.
I tried about 4 different Blue Tooth (BT) enabling protocols or hacks to allow me to listen to music through my mono BT headset, & dropped it from waist height. the speaker didn't work after that, & I assumed the drop did it. But recently I realized that the Hacks like BT Audio & Navaudio etc may have affected the registry in such a way as to disable the speaker. The BT audio works well. I then found by "accident" that the speaker actually works if I (continue to) push down hard the "connections" button under the On/Off button. This is quite touchy & difficult to maintain. Any ideas?
hermes soooo. why are you posting???
twice... the same answer.... dont duplicate threads!!!! this was asked twice!
I wish you to make a little experiment! please make somebody calls you if the speaker dont works and in the earphone it did so blow up in the hole... maybe you have a little trash inside many people has this issue blow up with power... maybe you can get a preasure air can. so... if not maybe the rom is upgraded an loaded bad re upgrade the OS... if not.... open up your wizard and be sure your speaker are conected to the motherboard... if not you are screw up!!!

[Q] No sound from 3.5mm headphone jack

I recently bought a (almost) brand new HD2 running winmo6.5.
I did some testing on winmo6.5 and there doesn't come any audio from the (original) headphone!
checkt settings on HD2 with winmo 6.5, Tried other (4pin) headphones, whitout any result..
I checkt the 3.5 jack if any of the pins are bend or soldering was loose but that also seems fine.
Then i went on to instal miui android on the hd2 (which runs superb by the way)
and there was also the same problem: no audio from 3.5mm jack.
(did instal and unstall with magldr1.11/HSPL4/DFT/task29/SPL-2.08HSPL)
the strange thing is that the mediakey's on the original headphone (previous, play/pause, forward) on both winmo 6.5 and miui android works absolutly fine!
well i'm now back again with winmo 6.5 to see if a fresh start with the winmo rom worked, which it didn't (did soft resets and hardresets multiple times on both roms)
Some info on the HD2
winmo 6.5 rom: 3.14.404.2
Radio: 2.15.50.14
SPL: 3.03.0000
model: HD2 t8585
Can anyone help me out? can it be the radio or audio drivers on hd2?
And does anyone know if Micro-usb to 3.5mm (female) audiojack is supported?
Your awnser is much appreciated!
Ps. I did my best in researching the web about the same problem but didn't find any threads on my subject.. if there is one please let me know and sorry that i probably didn't see it.

Most likely are:
#1. faulty headset (no connection to audio) or incompatible (not all 4 pins headset are compatible with hd2;
#2. faulty audiojack on hd2 ( no connection on motherboard or discontinued ).
No fault from radio or audio-drivers.
No way for audio from usb for hd2.

Thank u for the quick awnser!
that's strange because the headset is the original one which came with the phone..
Tested the headset with another phone and it did work perfectly
and i checkt the audiojack and as far i could see there weren't any soldering points loose.
strange..

Weird, indeed!
I'll stick with faulty audiojack connection on motherboard or bent connectors inside audiojack...
It wouldn't harm to double-check...
seems there are other people with the same problem. check out this thread to see if it will work for you. Also here.

Missing soldering on phone (?)

Got a LG G2 D802 - or so I think I did, bought from aliexpress.
opened the phone and I saw a missing soldered connector on the top of the phone.
What communication does this connection connect to? didn't find any layout of the antenna online.
please advise.
Also can't get the radio to work and the "knock On" feature (off = works, on = doesn't work)
Thanks in advance!
Hi, look there:https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/LG+G2+Teardown/20485
You should have two pin that connect an antenna.
So your radio problem should come from there.
About the knock on, it's another issue, try to flash back to stock.
Thanks for the reply,
I know there should be 2 of them, but for what communication device does it belong to?
(I've checked them all and they work - WIFI/BT/IR/GPS...)
The radio - the "antenna" is the headphone-set itself that should be connected, I don't think that it has to do with it as far as I know (I could be wrong)
It is the stock rom as I just received it, all the LG functions are there.
