gprs over-riding wireless lan card - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Just purchased an SDIO 802.11b Wireless LAN Card for my Magician. The trouble is whenever I connect to my Wireless network at home the GPRS starts trying to connect. This overrides my WiFi card. Anybody know how to stop this happening.

Connect SDIO WiFi directly to my Wifi Laptop ?

Hi ,
I'm planning to buy a WiFi SDIO card ... And I wounder whether I need to ave an access point or not to connect to my laptop (which already has a WiFi interface)..
This is possible if you use ad-hoc instead of infrastructure configuration.
But since I don't have a Wifi card in my MDA II, I can't test it (I use BT instead).
As far as i know, at least with Sandisk wifi SD card you won't be able to connect in ad-hoc. I've tried it and couldn't get it working, just in infrastructure mode through an access point. If anyone else knows how to do it please tell us how.
I have connected my XDAII to my laptop in ad-hoc mode.
laptop has a 802.11b pcmcia card set in windows to ad hoc mode
sandisk is set in network card settings on ppc to ad-hoc mode only.

Help VPN - Wireless - GPRS

Please can anyone help. I have an XDA ll
I connect to the web useing GPRS
I connect to my offices useing VPN
I have purchased a Socket Wireless Lan SD card (the Sandisk card did not work, but the Socket card did immediately)
My problem is if I set the Wireless card to allow me access ot my PC I can sync and view files but if I try to go on the web (via the PC) it trys to connect with GPRS.
If I set my network card to access the internet I cannot sync to the pc or see files on the PC
Surely there must be a way that allows the Wireless card to connect to the internet and the PC at the same time AND WHEN THE CARD IS REMOVED internet reverts back to GPRS and the VPN also works
Any help please
Thanks
Sam

Wi-fi Connection - how please?

I am trying to get my O2 XDA mini to connect to my home network.
When wi-fi is on it picks up my Network as well as two neighbours! However I can't make any connection.
My home network is based on static IPs so I presume I need to configure a connection associated with the in-built Network Adapter. However there are multiple adapters listed - which is the wifi adapter please?
the list is;
AsyncMac NDISWAN-miniport
PPTP NDISWAN-miniport
Remote NDIS-host
L2TP NDISWAN-miniport
NE2000 compatible Ethernet driver
Virtual Ethernet Intermediate Miniport
SDIO WLAN Wireless
Also what is the difference between Work and Internet option? Is this just arbitrary naming of two optional connections?
And is there a way to Internet Explorer default to wifi connection rather than dial-up.
Thanks.
I would think the one that says WLAN (Wireless Lan) in it.
Surely it would be better to turn on DHCP? it does make life so much simpler....
I thought it might be the SDIO WLAN Wireless but the SDIO threw me - I thought it referred to an inserted card.
I change the power/battery settings to performance and it worked.

internet access through ad hoc wifi connection?

hi, im not able to connect to the net with my wizard.
i dont have a wireless router so am connecting directly to my laptop, the ad hoc connection i have made works fine for file tranfers, but not for activesync or connecting to the web in either PIE or minimo.
i know activesync isnt possible but surely i should be able to use the broaband from my laptop?
any pointers would be greatly appreciated. software? settings?
its a t-mobile uk vario with qtek test rom.
also anyone know of a remote control utility, i use logmein but would like something a little more menu/macro based for control of media.
cheers
kevo
Try turning on Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on your laptop; that'll make your laptop act a bit more like a router, providing NAT services to the Wizard.
yeah i've tried that, and i've just tried bridging connections (dont really know much about that) but that hasnt worked either.

My configuration
Me too, I use ADHOC connection for my WLAN.
PC configuration:
ADSL connection shared
Adress IP:192.168.1.1 Mask:255.255.255.0
PocketPC configuration:
Adress IP:192.168.1.55 Mask:255.255.255.0 Gateway:192.168.1.1
DNS:80.10.246.2 for Wanadoo
Your problem is certainly the DNS.
You can put 192.168.1.1 too.
so it is possible? cool!.......but im still having problems.
i cant figure out how to enter these settings, not to sure where to put them,
iv tried puttin the DNS in the -> connections -> vpn
and -> network cards -> networks adapters -> SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter
sorry to be a pain, but could you point me to where to get each address and where to put them?
also is there anything particular you did to set up the adhoc network? i just used the Windows XP wizard and then ticket the AdHoc option after.
my laptop is conected to the router and the router is connected to aol adsl.
the ip address of my laptop is showing as a simple 10.0.0. number on the LAN but "Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.235.147" for the WLAN
none of my setup has a static ip address, could this be causing the problems?
thanks

It's more hazardous without static adress but it's can work.
My PC has directly access to the Internet with a ADSL modem.
It's here (network cards -> networks adapters -> SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter )
Apparently, it's ok for your PC and the Ad-Hoc mode.
Maybe, you should have your adress IP WLAN on the same network adress of your router.
I GOT IT WORKING!!!
I started again from scratch.
set a new WLAN. added new setup to the vario, added the DNS etc to the vario.
the problem i was having was the way i was sharing the internet connection, i was trying to shared the internet from the wireless to the lan rather than the internet from the lan to the wireless (if that makes sense to anyone!!!). i also ticked all the connection sharing services to allow them, just need to go through them and see which i dont need now.
thanks for the help guys
