Direct Push - am I missing something - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Ok, device with the new JasJar rom
Vodafone sim, data enabled
configured for GPRS on the UK "internet" APN
conn manager enabled for direct push
activesync set to "when emails arrive"
exchange SP2 with Direct Push enabled
side by side with my blackberry, it's ages before the JJ picks up the email
what am I missing?

Could it be anything to do with the heartbeat settings that your Exchange server is configured with?

No, it's at its defaults and I've set the new HTTPS timeout for ISA.
Anyone?

Does ActiveSync work if you ask it to sync manually?
If not, does OMA work? (https://servername.domain.com/oma)
Simon.

Mail2web Domain Setting

Does anyone know what the domain is for mail2web exchange server - trying to setup mobile push mail with mail2web cant seem to find what the domain is meant to be!
thanks in advance
I set up with mail2web push email and it works well. I don't think you need to put the domain information in (as it shown grey on my 8525 anyway). However, make sure you have your server address typed correctly as mobile.exchange.mail2web.com. btw, I set that up on Activesync under configure server, not sure that setting works in your situation tho
WM6 or WM5?
the user name settings are different for WM6 and WM5
Domain is still ad2 though...
Server is still mobile.exchange.mail2web.com
You can get your personal settings through the My Email Settings pane (>View ActiveSync Settings)
There is ( or was not checked ) an option to download your settings as a cab just add your password when prompted.

Is it possible ?

Mail retrieval only uses 3G

I have 2 mail accounts set up on my phone. Both are Google Mail, one is done with Activesync (for calendar and contacts as well), the other is just a plain IMAP account retrive.
The Activesync one will sync over either 3G or Wifi depending on availability.
The plain email one doesn't - with the 'advanced server settings' set to connect from network connection 'The Internet' it will only work with Wifi. To use the 3G I need to change this setting to 'T-Mobile Internet', at which point it will only use the 3G. Not ideal really, and I can't work out how to overcome this. I was expecting it to use whicever was available when 'The Internet' is selected.
The Activesync options are slightly different in that there is only one network connection option called 'Internet'.
Anyone got any ideas?
I have ROM 1.48.405.2, WWE, on T-Mobile UK.
Some guys had to remove the proxy settings of their 3G in order to get it to work as expected.
Any more for any more?

Can't send e-mail with authentication

My outgoing mail server requires authentication (the incoming server doesn't). But it just won't work. I'm connecting through Wi-Fi and using the exact same settings as in Outlook. I always get the same error message (see screenshot).
I am entering the mail settings in Start/E-mail/Menu/Options not in Mail/Account Settings - which does not remember the authentication username and password (this is discussed in another thread).
This is driving me nuts. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know anything about outgoing e-mail authentication?
Yes I have this problem to can any won help to shed some light on this subject
Im using about 20th ROM on my HD2 and there is no problem with SMTP authentication. Just only set CORRECT SMTP server name and login name and password. And it does work on GPRS, HSDPA, Active Sync, WIFI without problems... I dont understand what is your problem...

Thanks Petulinek,
I am using the exact server name, login name and password that I am using in Outlook. I have checked it many times but it is still not working. I have tried it on Active Sync and WIFI.
On your screenshot is strange message. I think it try email send via data connection, not via AS. Is in your Active sync set that connection connects to internet?

Yes, I can use Active Sync to access the Internet. I can receive e-mail and browse and remote desktop etc. but not send e-mail.
On email settings, page with SMTP server - Advanced server settings - is in network connection "The internet"?

Yes it is set to 'The Internet' but I have also tried 'Work'.
Petulinek,
Do you know what type of Authentication is supported by HTC Mail?
My server supports PLAIN/PLAIN TEXT, CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5.

You need to list in detail the steps you've already taken as setting up POP email is essentially a trivial exercise and their shouldn't really be an issue in doing so.
One common mistake is to use your ISPs SMTP server for outgoing mail - this generally won't work as typically they are set up not to relay mail from external networks. In this case, you need to use your telecoms providers SMTP server, or a 3rd party open relay.
Regards,
Dave
ok i do this touch mail on main screen
touch pop mail
enter email address and password
hit manual set up and then it gives me pop server
security type and serverport
now i have these as a do in outlook however outlook lets me specify the outgoing mail and incoming mail server as mail.the---------------.co.uk and smtp.the---------------.co.uk
but the phone only allows me to but .the---------------.co.uk
are you saying i shoul put 02.co.uk here instead ?
Once you've set up the POP side of the your connection, you should be prompted to set up the SMTP side of the connection for which you would often use your cellular providers SMTP server (though some ISPs allow authenticated SMTP access from external sources).
What is your mail providers full address as "mail.the---------------.co.uk" doesn't help much to check the settings. You also didn't say what you used for your security type and server port.
Regards,
Dave
thanks dave got it working
i realised that when i entered mail. it then gave me another screen for outgoing and i used smtp and they worked - allset up and raring to go now!
thanks
