Problem with WiFiFoFum 2/2.1 beta - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

WiFiFoFum is a brilliant sniffer and i have been using t since my M2000, i have been using the 0.3.3 version but when i went to install the new version 2 or even the newer beta version 2.1 then i get an error saying i have the wronge .NET framework, does anyone know where i can get this framework or what do i have to do to use ths new software?
I hope someone can help and thank you in advance

You might try downloading and installing this first;
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55&DisplayLang=en
Hope this helps.

brilliant, thank you for that post, i was looking for the .net install for something else aswell.
Thanks for you time, i will post if it sorts the problem

I've got the 2.1 beta running on my JasJar with the newest ROM from i-Mate. The NetCF must be installed to the main memory, if you try installing it on a storage card you will wind up with an empty folder on the storage card. It works with the Belkin F8T051 GPS.
Hope that helps

Thanks dah45, thats useful information, i havnt actuly been able to test this out yet because of the damn jasjar memory, i have hardly any room left for program memory to install CFnet, i am looking forward to it

I am seeing the same error when I try to install WFFF on my Tmobile MDA (USA) (Wizard)
WFFF installs ok but won'r run beacuse it says I need a newer version of .net.
I get the same install error when I try to install the .net that is bundled with WFFF ot the download direct from Microsoft.
Anybody have any ideas?

It's not clear to me what your problem is. If you are having problems installing the update to 2.0 try disabling all today plug-ins and then soft resetting and then running the update. After it is installed you can re-enable the plugins.

Not sure what Plug-ins to disable. If you mean like SPB and things like that, I don't have any installed.

GPRS Monitor

I cannot install GPRS Monitor from myO2 CD, it says i need to update my ROM, i did a corporate install btw
Anyone else had any probs?
Another forum member had this same problem when installing the ClearVuePDF Reader also supplied by o2 as part of the HTC application suite. He has the MDA, but flashed with the o2 Exec ROMs and then installed in Corporate mode.
From work we did together, it appears to be just the install program that was not validating his device. When I tried a hard-reset and Corporate mode install, I had no problems installing. However, its beginning to look as though a hard-reset does not totally clear the Exec's memory. In his case, I found all the individual files and registry settings needed for ClearVuePDF to run and he copied those to the device. Runs perfectly for him like that.
So I'm afraid you'll have to find somebody with the o2 version of GPSMonitor installed and get them to determine all the files/locations and registry-settings needed to get it to run. Unfortunately I don't have a GPRS connection or GPRSMonitor installed.
Just a thought. Have you yet tried a full o2 Personal mode install on your device? It just might be this action that puts 'something' in memory that is not cleared by a hard-reset, and that 'something' might be what the install program is looking for.
Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
No problem thanks for your help

I did a basic install and I get the same error. Sorry, Not much help though.

Me too. The ClearVuew PDF reader is rubbish! Text misalighed all over - Adobe with pixel doubling is better than this.
Please try this
Could one of you having a problem to install the o2 supplied GPRSMonitor, please try installing the attached .CAB after copying it to your device.
This CAB is extracted from the CD-ROM install program, so hopefully skips the validation stuff. With luck you might be able to get around the failed validation by installing from this CAB.
Note: Even if asked to install to Storage Card, the o2 supplied version (2.3.0 build 600) puts very little there, most goes into device memory. The current version 2.41 from spb will obey the instruction to install to SD-Card, but wasn't reliable when run from there - the monitoring part aborted four times in 10-minutes whilst I was playing with it.
Unfortunately, since I don't have the install problem, I can't test this install out.
It works a treat. Thanks muchly!

Am I glad about that - I was in the midst of trying to locate all the files/registry entries needed for a manual install.
Perhaps I can go to bed now!
I also managed to 'locate' another copy and it works fine, thanks for all the help.

I can confirm this but with other files. After several hard resets (even with the clear storage icon), the pictures I had taken were still there.

Ouch! I didn't realsie it was as bad as that.
The situation is made worse by the backup program I'm using (Sunnysoft Backup Manager) not backing up all the data and settings. Neither does it perform a true restore - just merges the backup with what's there after the hard-reset.
Unfortunately, I'm used to HP's backup applet from the Jornada 928; which performed a total backup/flush restore. Are there any other applets for WM5/universal that really performs a full backup/restore?
Does anyone have this cab please? I have just bought a new O2 exec and am having the same problem with it saying my ROM version is too old!!
sorry ignore that post! Work computer blocked the file out
I am running my XDA EXEC in basic mode. When I tried copying the .cab file to my device and running it from there , still get the problem.
Any suggestions ?
I was running personal mode then switched to basic mode, could this cause the problem.
Thanks for you replies in advance.
Cannot remove GPRS monotr app
I installed this file to test it out om M3000. Unfortuntely I cannot seem to uninstall it now! It doesnt show up in my Program list - How do you uninstall it?
I looked in the \\windows folder and removed all files and shoretcuts I could find, but its still showing up on my 'today' screen with an error.
Any ideas? The registry?
Cheers

Linuxgeek:
I was also getting the ROM version problem installing programs to my SD card on my O2 exec. Since I'd only just added the card and was running the basic installation, I did the following:
1) Hard reset
2) Personal Install
3) Re-install ActiveSync on PC
This did the trick. Thankfully I like the Personal install best anyway, but I don't know if that step was necessary.
Tried it. Still get the problem :-(
My mistake - I managed to install the Clearvue PDF program, not the GPRS monitor program. I'm still getting the ROM version error with the GPRS monitor program, but I've not tried the above download yet.
Anyone got any other ideas to fix this problem.
Shame O2 don't have an update to fix this problem on their website.
I've now tried the CAB posted above by astage and I can confirm it worked for me. Just copy the CAB to your device and then open it to start the install.

. Net Compact Software

Hey
we have tried to install the .net compact soft ware onto a wizzard it shows that it has been downlaod but programs will no run as it say's it has not been installed. We have rung the microsoft help desk but they don't want to know. So if anyone here is running the same software or know how to install it please help us out.
Cheers
Telecom St Lukes
Make sure you have latest version of NET installed v2.0.
Better intalled on main memory and quote from other member
'It installs fine on the SD card.... or main memory.... whatever... you must temporarily turn off all your today plugins, reboot, and then install CF2.0 before launching any other apps. I exit things like wisbar too, just to be sure.
After install, turn your plugins back on.... works every time. This is a known issue with the CF2.0 installer, btw... MSFT is trying to fix it in the next release'.
hope this helps

Error: remove programs..." x was not completely removed

I tried to install ClearVue PDF from the O2 supplied CD and it failed (with error messages in German!) - however when I tried to 'remove programs' I get the above message and ClearVue is still listed under programs. Ditto with Skype. These are the only 2 things I have added since switching my XDa mini s on for the first time. How should I uninstall these properly....so I can start again! Thanks
Well if you want to install it. Try installing it again. Then if fails again download the latest version of it from their website and install that. Hopefully you will have the registration key installed and it will work. Otherwise you will at least have an English error message.
Thanks
I'll try the web site - looks like I can't just download ClearVue - does it all come witin the 'software update' bundle?
No no no! ;-) The Clearvue website http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/pdf/ As long as the install you have made registered it the trial version will be installed as fully operational.
Thanks
I'll have a go...
Sometimes a program wont delete because its running. make sure you have nothing running before removing it
Is this not an issue with the persistent memory in the Wizard? I've never been able to uninstall things, always comes up with that error, but installing an AKU 2.3 ROM seems to have solved the problem.
I think it's a persistent issue - I've tried every way of uninstalling (from Xda and PC via ActiceSync etc) and ClearVue is still there (and not working). However last comment slightly too techy for me (sorry - just a user....)? Is this an OS upgrade....?
The ROM is an OS upgrade, read all about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53954&highlight=
Whether the newer ROM solves the problem, someone better informed than me will have to tell you. It may just be coincidence that I can now uninstall programs properly??

Problem with MSN

Greetings all,
I just got my hands on an Xda IIs which was running wm2003 and i just upgraded it to Windows Mobile 6 with no dramas. Everything is working fine except when i try to install the Live.cab from the missing cabs archive, every time i try to install it it just comes and says 'Installation of live.cab was unsuccessful'. I have tried installing just the cab that came with rom and the WL_Install.exe method (That installs through ActiveSync) and i get the error everytime.
I followed the guide in the wiki and this is the only issue i am having with it at the moment. anyone have any clue what may be the cause of the issue or another way to install it? Or even another type of messenger program that connects to msn and such. (Sort of like trillian for the pc but for smart phones?)
I also only did what the guide said, but i have heard mention of installing radio or something like (For voice clarity and such?) is that something i still need to do and have missed or recommended? Any other good recommendations on apps or tweaks i should perform?
Sorry if this is a bit newbieish but this is my first time flashing and upgrading a phone and you gotta start somewhere right?
try the windows live from xplode's thread of WM6.1.. there you can find it bundled with the ROM.. mine works perfectly
PS:i'm using 20226 Xplode's WM6.1
Yep that did the trick. Thanks for that

Compact Framework

Tried installing PocketSheild, and get an errormissing method exception this app requires a newer version of MS.net compact Framework than the version instaled on this device (?? the phone is only 3 weks old ??)
How do you find which version is on the phone? Whats the implications of installing a newer version (and which one do i choose!)?
thanks
\windows\cgautil.exe will tell you. I think WM 6.1 only comes with CF2.0 by default, although HTC certainly could have put CF3.5 in their default installer software (stuff that installs once only after a hard reset). I can't tell whether mine did this or whether I did it by hand. Nevertheless, you should be able to download/install it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en. There should be no issue installing it side-by-side with 2.0.
thanks, managed to downoad it, but how do you install it?
If you don't use Activesync, you may want to get just the cab file instead. Just google for NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab, then instal like any other app, to the main memory.
Also, whilst you're about it, google netcfcfg.cab. This app lets you set windows CF policy, so that all apps which need CF2.0 to run will automatically use your newly installed CF3.5, which is apparently better and more stable.
The file sizes should be 2644KB and 34KB respectively.

Run it on your PC and then next time you connect your device via activesync, it will push and install the CAB on your phone. Well, that's the idea anyway..
.NET 3.5 probs still not solved

Try the HTC 3600 forum section, I guess they might know more relevant information. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=313
cheers!!!
works just fine. copy NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab, install, soft reset and you're ready to go. Thanks!!!
