HELP: Email attachment problems with POP3 account - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi There,
I have a problem with email attachments in a pop3 account. My new XDA Exec downloads messages OK and reports that they are big (500KB+) but there is no icon for the attachment in the list view and when I open it there is no attachment listed in the body of the email.
Never had this problem with the XDAIIs....Grrrrrr
Any ideas??
Many thanks
Pointy

Oh well, Hard Rest it is then....
Cheers

Gmail shows "Sent" emails in the "Inbox" folder

HTC 6800 (bell) using the builtin email app.
Every time i use Gmail to send out a email i see that same email in the "inbox" folder after. Whats even more annoying is i get notifications for this since the email i sent appears in my INBOX folder. When i check my "Sent" folder, its empty - even though ive sent 100's of emails from my device.
Anyone experiencing this? Anyone know what may be the cause of it?
I also have Lotus Notes emails being retrieved by my phone and i don't not experience this behavior with that account.

I was having the exact same problem, thanks for the solution.
Atropo - worked. thanks for the solution.
thanks!
ETA: looks like a spoke too soon, now it doesnt recieve any mail at all, and it deleted all the messeges that were already stored on the phone
suggestions?
I still have the same problem of sent mail being in the inbox as new mail.
Deep breath everyone...
You need the "recent:" in your login name or you won't get any emails at all. Seeing the sent messages in the Inbox is just a quirk of Gmail. Get use to it.
Any solution to this issue yet?
It would be nice to fix, but doubt it will happen.
I get a copy of the message I sent in my inbox on my 6800 even if I compose and send the message from the web on my Mac or from Entourage on the same Mac.
Like TC1 said, it's a GMail quirk...
Here's what I do to avoid loosing new messages and to NOT see your own sent items:
Setup a second GMail account, with any name you desire (no one will ever see it)
For instance:
[email protected]
&
[email protected]
Foward ALL mail from [email protected] > [email protected].
Setup your PPC to only check [email protected], but to only SEND mail using the login/password for [email protected].
And of course, use "recent:" before the username of the [email protected] account.
This works wonders. I've actually got about 7 e-mail accounts fowarding to my single mobile account. Granted, with this method you're always sending from just one account, but in the event you only have one and want Gmail to funciton properly, I find this is the best solution.
Hope it helps!

Problem with POP3 email attachments

Some time ago I raised this problem in connection with my TyTN II and got no real response.
As exactly the same problem affects the Touch HD I thought I would ask again here.
If an email with an attachment is received from a POP3 mail server it is only possible to see the attachment if the email was sent in Text format. If the email was sent in HTML format the attachment although downloaded remains invisible.
Essentially if an email with an attachment is received via POP3 in Text Format then both the message and the attachment are received by the Touch HD and the attachment can be opened by clicking on the link in the message.
However, if the same email is sent in HTML Format the message and the attachment are again received by the TyTN but there is no link to the attachment in the message and it cannot be opened.
If the same emails are collected from Outlook via ActiveSync all the attachments are visible and can be opened irrespective of whether the email is in Text or HTML Format. Likewise if one uses an alternative mail program such as Flexmail the attachments can all be seen.
To make matters worse it seems as though the "hidden" attachments are saved with the message on the device itself rather than on the Storage card so could rapidly eat up the available memory.
I therefore wondered if anyone had found a solution to the problem.
Many thanks

attachments cant be downloaded in emails

I have bought a new htc touch hd. I set up the email account to my yahoo email account. When I recieve my emails with attachments in my inbox, the email client shows the attachments and their sizes but when i click on the attachemtns it shows a green tick adjacent to the attachments but doesnt download them.
Kindly help me in overcoming this problem. Anybody who can suggest me a solution

Exchange attachments disappeared

My exchange email looses attachments. It's a bit confusing because some of the attachments are coming through and some are not. Even if I know that the email I received contains an attachment there is no visible symbol for it but at the same time keeps loading (probably the attachment itself). Eventually nothing happens.
Anybody else experiencing same issue?
I don't have this issue. Although the mail client shows attachment icon for some mails that contain images inline. Could this be the case for you?
No issues here with exchange 2007. But I experience a tiny problem with attachments in company's outlook clients and is that some times people who use osx and send mail to us that contains pdf then the attachment disappears from Outlook but if you connect to exchange with Web via \owa address the attachments are there.
Question is if you ever got attachments in a mobile no matter what OS from that specific exchange server?

[Q] Forwarding e-mail problems

Hi,
I am using the email app to sync mail on Exchange server. My problem is when I need to forward a mail I have received with attachment. Attachment and original text in e-mail is not sent. Also the e-mail is incomplete in my sent box. I have tried many things to solve this, but there is just no way to get it working. This is very annoying as I resend mail from work on a daily basis.
Anyone have a solution to this, or maybe you have the same problems?
Hi.
I have same problem with Lotus Notes Traveler over ActiveSync.
Seems like mail app expect server will manage original mail and attachment.
Only solution I found is: when forwarding, clict to "edit previous message info" button and edit at least one character, it helps send complete mail and also attachments.

Thank you so much for the information, it actualy worked
I find it very strange that the problem is not fixed if the solution is this simple.

Sorry for bumping an old topic.
We also use ActiveSync with Galaxy S6 devices. Editing the message indeed works, the attachment gets sent.
But what causes this? there used to be a option "Forward message with files/attachments", but somehow this isn't available anymore in the Galaxy S6.
This is a solution, but not a permanent... Is there any way to fix this?
