If you search in this forum for "hardreset.exe" you'll find a small program which makes the hardreset w/o key. I can't remember where it was.

Or download a shipped-rom from the ftp & extract all files from it. Enterbl.exe should be one of them. Put that one on your magician with Act.Sunc. Execute it from within File Explorer on the magician & your device goes into bootloader (you know dark screen reading serial v1.xx). Now soft-reset & your done.
Cheers, M

Handy Menu Software can do that...!

Tweaks2k2 can hard reset your device too

Thanks to vijay555, who showed me this tool wich also can do a hard reset.

O2 atom locked and forgot password

Good day
I've O2 atom pure and one stupid guy took it while I'm sleeping and set a password then he forgot the passowrd :x ,,,is there anyway to unlock it without hard-reseting because I've important information in it
Regards
unfortunately... no way
isn't there anyway to backup my files at least
You can back up the info in two ways.. via the software inside the phone into a SD card or via active sync. As both method requires the security pin, so, there is really no way of backing it up.
I would suggest that you perform a trial and error (brute force) your way into the phone.
Thanks for the suggestion hanmin but I've tried to do it that way but microsoft did a stupid thing which is a timer that you can't retry entering the password until it finishes and the problem is that it counts double the last time when you enter wrong password
for example at the first time it counts from 3 to 0 and the second time from 6 to 0 and so on
Now I reached 24 hours
reset your atom by pressing power and softreset together with is top and hole near usb connector
ranganrangan
there is no problem to perform hard reset... the problem was to save the data from atom.

maybe u not press the green+red button at the same time? a hard reset will put your device to factory setting again.
or if that not work, u can always upgrade your atom with the latest upgrade software
hello
maybe you can hard reset via recording button + reset button + power button at the same time.
or try any like this (reset button + power button + any side buttons) ok

power on and soft reset

Hello,
Is there any difference between power-off then power-on, and power-off then soft-reset?
thanks

No difference if you mean a true power off i.e. a long press on power button until the message pops up, not just a quick press. I suppose soft reset is like a restart on PC and true power off is a shutdown.

Hi Mike,
Yes, by 'power-off' I mean actually holding the power button for several seconds to turn off the device.
The reason for my question is that I saw, for one of the hermes hacks (sorry, can't remember which one), some instructions that say power off the device, then do a soft-reset, after installing some cabs for the hacks.
Anyway, I figured they are the same as well.
cheers

Yes that's a bit of overkill. I know why they say this though. Lots of folks complain because they make a registry change followed by a soft reset and the changes thay have just made disappear on re-start.
When registry changes are made they are not written back for some time - say a few minutes. This means that a quick soft reset and you lose all your changes. However using the long press power-off forces a write back to the registry and thus saves the changes. (Alternatively wait say 10 minutes and do a soft reset - but why wait). I can't personally see the point in following up with a soft reset - unless someone can think of a reason.
Mike
I see, that clears it up. Thanks Mike!

Phone Lock Reset Wizard Mda Vario T Mobile KJAM Singular 8125

Having looked all over for a couple of days
I came across a picture with instructions for
hard resetting a wizard, which is resetting the phone
thus the phone lock as well.
Dead easy really
1. Press the Comm Manager button (top left)
together with the Voice Activation button (top right)
for 2 seconds.
2. Keep holding the 2 buttons above and press the soft reset
(middle right little hole) with the stylus for another 2 seconds.
3. When the black screen appears it'll ask you to click Send
That's it All done !!
The wizard's going to reboot and reset himself.
Hope this is going to help some of you.
This is called 'Hard Reset' and perhaps its known to almost every wizard owner, its supposed to be known though !!!
Anyways ! thanz for the info!
ATENTION PLEASE... Thanks.
Nice Thread...

Is it possiable I can have softrest (cap) shortcut button ( instead of Powering off / press softrest button under cover / remove battery) on my t-mobile htc hd2 without installing non-official rom?
yes you have to instal one of this cab file.

You can also install HButton (along with the xdaShutdown cab mentioned here), so you can map this app to a long press of the power button.
Good luck!

I dont understand this need for "reboot software" whats so hard about holding the power off button for a few seconds then hitting the power off button that appears on screen, then pressing the power button again once the phone is off?
If your phone is so fubar that you have to resort to pulling off the battery cover and poking the reset button, then a piece of software to reboot it likely wont be of any use.
I do remember trying out such software long ago on my MDA, and it always seemed the software just instantly rebooted, rather than doing a graceful shutdown. What are the chances of file system corruption by repeatedly doing instant reboots rather than graceful shutdowns? especially dealing with the larger file storage spaces we have now

d0ug,
I was thinking the same exact thing. Maybe out of some freak of nature, I got the only perfect T-mobile USA HD2 but, I have never had to do any type of forced hard reset or forced soft reset. I rarely shut it off, mostly running 24/7
Thank you,
Monnie

Ive not had any issues with mine either, other than the well documented SMS bug that starts slowing the phone down around 200sms messages or so.
Hopefully there will be a fix from HTC for that, in the meantime i just use PIMBackup weekly to backup all my SMS messages, and have created a "blank" message backup file that i use to restore over the message DB wiping out all the SMS.
For normal usage the phone has been great, ive only had to reset a few times after screwing around with some more advanced settings, nothing that would have been a problem for sometime just normally using the phone.
I've only poked my reset button under the battery cover once, mainly to see that it worked lol, basically the day i got the phone, going over all the functions of the phone to make sure everything worked.
