SIM PIN or Device pass
Are you sure is a SIM lock? I dont think so...
If it is sim lock so the device gonna tell us forthe SIM
But it seems the dev is locked with pass i dont know if strong or 4 pin
Make a hard reset.
If is the SIM see the letter where the SIM comes it must have the SIM PIN and the SIM PUK. if you dont know even that... put off the sim card and disable thesim PIN LOCK in settings.... personal.... phone... services.... and security tab.... for sim.
Just letting you know that you don't go into services. The security should be on the phone page. just uncheck the box.
All my previous phones had this feature. I can't seem to find a setting for it on the Blackstone.
Is it possible (on the standard ROM) to have the phone ask for a password only when it detects the SIM card has changed? (and I mean a device lock password, not the PIN for the SIM)
So I gather it can't be done?
Strange since it's a very common feature..
Morning!
Ok I reflashed my SGS with I9000XWJM2 yesterday, all went OK.
The problem is, the phone doesn't ask for my PIN code and therefore don't register to my GSM/3G network!
I tried removing the SIM-card and put it back in, but still it doesn't ask for my PIN code.
What's up with this?!
I dont know about the rest of you, but is this just the Galaxy S4 phones feature that whenever I reboot the phone, at the top of the SIM PIN enter prompt window, it says: 3 ATTEMPTS LEFT. Or, is it my Service provider which is T-Mobile?
Is this normal?
I NEVER EVER had even ONE failed SIM PIN code failure before as I know the PIN in my head.
This is NOT my Screen Lock PIN code, I am refering to the SIM PIN code once the phone is rebooted.
Is this just T-Mobile to have 3 SIM PIN code fail attempts or is it the Samsung Galaxy's S4 feature?
And, just in case I type in 3 failed SIM PIN codes, then would a "Factory Reset" reset the number of tries to 3 attempts again?
Or, would I have to contact T-Mobile?
Thx

That has been standard on all my SIMs and phones I've used (Telia and Tele2 in Sweden). If you fail 3 times you need to use your PUK code.

You just enter it. But you only need to if you fail the PIN code 3 times in a row.

Ok, but do I obtain the PUK number from my Mobile Provider by phone or it can be somewhere else on a website?
Thanks

It should stand in the papers that came with your SIM or on the internet if you have an account you can log in to with your provider

Its stashed somewhere and need to find it. In the meantime, I have it written down and stored in a locked place.
But my question was, that since I never typed in an incorrect SIM PIN before, is it normal to show at the SIM PIN logon screen that I have 3 Attempts to try?
Or, was it more than this?
So in other words, is 3 the normal failed attempts for most phones?

Yes, 3 has been the limit on all of my SIMs and phones. My S4 also shows that "warning".
OK, I wrote my SIM PIN code down and stored it in a secured place.
But, I managed to find the part of my SIM card with several 4-digit numbers and one of them is a 3-digit number (the last one at the way bottom).
But in case I do loose my SIM PIN (the one that I created or changed myself when setting up the phone), should I use one of these numbers as a backup SIM PIN to unlock my phone after a reboot?
Please see "PARTIAL" image of the numbers (for security reasons) of the portion of the SIM card.

Yes.. It is normal and 3 attempts is normal. Mine does it also... It is probably just to avoid problems with people today that don't understand anything.. Like don't eat batteries, it can cause severe internal damage... It is logic for most of us

My PUK code is 8 numbers (see attached image). The card also says that I can see the code if I login to my providers website so you probably can too.
I'm in the same boat. Problem is once the SIM is blocked the only place you can go is to the phone dial pad to call an emergency number. There's no place to enter the PUK code. If I enter the PUK in the dial screen and press "call" it says it's not a valid emergency number. Restart just takes it back to the screen that says the SIM is blocked, and the options to call emergency or SOS #. No PUK entry.
Anyone?
Edit: Found the answer on a T-Mobile support site:
When the device displays 'SIM card is PUK-Locked. Please contact Customer Care’, tap Emergency Call.
Enter the following: **05*PUK*NEWPIN*NEWPIN#
Message is displayed that it's reset. Tap OK.
This works.

No, not that card or those numbers. The BIG card, the credit card-sized one. It should clearly state "PUK" and 8 digits.
Hi all,
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4. When I put my Sim Card in, it was recognized and asked for my PIN. However, whenever i entered my PIN and clicked enter, the PIN field would just clear again and nothing would happen. After I put my Sim Card in another phone and removed my PIN, it worked without a problem on the Galaxy. Is this a known problem? How can I solve it?
Thanks in advance
