This is something I feel may be of benefit to MDA users (MDA Pro especially), based upon my own recent experience.
If you contact T-Mobile to report a fault on your MDA they may very well just log the call and suggest that you either take the unit in for dropoff to a T-Mobile store or have it collected for repair directly. It is vital that you make sure that they are aware that their warranty company (SBA in Ashford, Kent) MUST have confirmation from HTC Europe that it is okay to proceed with the repair prior to this, otherwise SBA will return your handset with an 'Unable To Repair Return Form' and a request for proof of purchase. You will need to contact HTC Europe directly (http://www.europe.htc.com/support/) who will then email you an RMA form to complete and send with the handset and the proof of purchase. HTC will then either send the handset on to SBA or back to you with a confirmatory letter to pass on to T-Mobile.
If you try and do this any other way T-Mobile will try and charge you for the repair, claiming that the fault is beyond warranty. I found this all out the hard way - they tried to bill me for £159 for a microphone on a MDA Pro which had come away from the motherboard socket.
Oh My God Not SBE......NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..........
www.sbe-ltd.co.uk for anyone interested. I and many others have had trouble with them with i-mate devices that were surprisingly out of warranty and needed entire boards replacing etc when the actual fault was very minor.
My previous experience of t-mobile warranty was that the repair was handled by HTC Europe directly - and SBE were only for i-mate devices.
The HTC Europe case booking system is here:
http://service.htceurope.com/
They are very good and fairly reasonable for out of warranty chargeable repairs such as screen replacement considering your warranty stays valid.
Hope this helps.

all heros have 12 month warranty right? you dont need to apply for it? if anything goes wrong with your phone then you just need to contact htc ? am i right?
thanks
That very much depends on where you are physically located, and where you physically bought the device.
My phone came from T-Mobile UK, and comes with a 1 year warranty. If I have a problem with the device in that time, I should go back to the original vendor (i.e. T-Mobile UK) to seek remedy. In addition, even though I only have a 1 year warranty, my statutory rights are not affected - see this link
Bear in mind that this is going to be covered differently in other regions.
Regards,
Dave
i bought it from ebay. its a simfree version
so will it still be covered.?
thanks
I couldn't tell you definitively.
Assuming you are in the UK, if you bought it from a UK company on Ebay and is was sold "new", then they are responsible. The same may well apply across the EU, but I'm uncertain of this.
If it was bought as second hand from an individual, the situation is not so clear, but it is probable that the original retailer should still be required to honour the warranty.
Regards,
Dave
I faced that issue some time ago and i contacted htc for a problem.
well from what they told me, if the phone wasn't bought at an official htc vendor, then you have no business with htc. Only thing you can do is you can send your phone to htc to get repaired or checked but you'll have to pay for it ( even if you have a guarantee from a shop)
You should contact the store where you bought the phone. And the catch at these local stores is that you should have your guarantee and receipt on your name to be able to claim it. so buying on ebay ...... i cant say for sure

As long as you return to stock rom & SPL your insurance/warranty will be valid. Also make sure have have removed security unlock if you had it
You can find the shipped orange HD rom here if you need it

When I had a problem with my screen I did not have Orange care.
They told me to contact Regenersis who handle all their repairs.
Regenersis said they do not repair the HTC Touch HD and would send it to HTC.
The charge was about £80-£100.
So I did a deal with Orange for £80 and got another handset - with care.
Why are they not offering you a replacement handset ?

when i broke my screen, i had orange care, so i rung and said id lost it on a night out, withing 24 hours i had a new phone, cost me £15 i think, i then sold my old HD to mazumamobile for a tidy £130 i think it was.
i have had three hds from orange care and i have never flashed a stock or spl back onto it
i trust in them to be horribly stupid and it works
they tend not to fix things as per say just gve you a new device then you send ur old one back with the courier
my current one has energy rom on it and the newton rings and guess what
i aint flashing crap

Interesting that you say this as I do know of others which have tried this and got the rsponse from hTC that illegal software was found on device so warranty was void. This illegal software being a cooked rom/HSPL etc
Maybe it depends on the fault, i.e. in some cases depending on what the fault is, they actually do look at your HD to try and fix it??

I think you're confused about Warranty and Insurance here, FallenSpartan.
Those that have a faulty device and no insurance would send their HD to HTC for repair under warranty (Provided it is within warranty period). HTC would more than likely investigate, and if HSPL and/or custom ROMs are found then warranty would be void.
Those that have a faulty device and do have insurance. From Orange, for example, would call their insurer and have a replacement device sent out to them, no questions asked. Insurers usually send out a replacement and the courier swaps for the broken handset. Insurance is nothing to do with HTC and Warranty, it's up to the insurer what they then do with the faulty unit, but I guess they usually have a repair contract with a large handset repair centre rather than with individual manufacturers. That's what I would do, anyway.

Yes, it would appear I am , thanks for the kick up the backside
If I purchased the phone from a reseller unlocked then reflash the firmware to an unbranded firmware will the warrantee on this phone be honored.
It's a warrantee from Samsung not a warrantee from the network provider as I'm not even with that provider.
I just remember my son paid for the installation of an unbranded firmware to be flashed on his Sony Ericcson. This did not effect the warrantee at all and the phone has been fixed on three occations by a Sony repair centre. Each time it comes back with the branded OPTUS firmware installed as only OPTUS were selling this mobile at the time. The warrantee claim was never an issue.
So true or not.
Flash an unlocked phone with unbranded firmware and return the phone for service, Samsung will still honor the warrantee.
The warrantee is after all on the phone not the firmware.
Hey mate, unfortunately they do not have to honour the manufacturers warranty. If you read the warranty provided with the phone clause 4.b.) the warranty ceases if "The Samsung product is repaired, serviced or interfered with (in any way) other than by us." Flashing the phone yourself with unbranded firmware would be considered such an action. However, having said that Samsung Australia are very reasonable with this sought of thing. I suggest taking it to Fonebiz or another Samsung authorised repairer with your purchase receipt (if you have one). Quite often they will fix the phone with few questions asked.
So in answer to your question, yes Samsung will probably still honour the warranty but they are under no obligation to do so.
Hi guys,
I hope some Romanians can verify this?
My phone has the famous digitizer issue (screen not responding when coming out of standby), where I called HTC Romania.
They told me to contact their repair center in Bucharest. (http://www.cirma.ro/)
That repair center states I have to pay 1000 LEI (250 EUR) for this repair, while the phone still is in warranty. Aren't there such things as 'in warranty repairs' here in Romania?
As I am not Romanian, I would like some info in regards to this. Otherwise I have to ship it to the UK or to Holland (where I'm from) to have it repaired.
Please, some feedback would be appreciated.
Multumesc foarte mult!
Hy, here , in Romania, the thing are a little bit different. You could repair your phone in warranty only if you bought it from here. The procedure is also very complicated, we must go with the deffective device on our provider, they send the phone to Cirma, after repair Cirma send it back to the provider and only after that we can enjoy again about our beautifull device. Also they ask for entire package, not only the device, I don`t know why ! And the whole procedure takes about 3-4 weeks . So , I think you can send it to your country for repair, the time will be almost the same. I called also Cirma service an they told to me that replacing the digitizer costs 1000 LEI.
I had a screen problem too on my Hd2 (a white spot) and I've been to Collection Point (on Stefan Cel Mare), they made and a diagnose of the problem and then they changed the screen for free (on warranty). In my case I bought the device from Romania.
My advice is to go to a Collection Point with your Invoice and warranty certificate in order to clarify if your papers are eligible here in Ro.
Thanks guys,
I think i'll just ship it to Holland anyway.
Just came of the phone with Cirma, and they won't repair my HTC device, as I didn't buy it here in Romania. (Which, legally is very wrong, as HTC has a European Warranty certificate and Cirma is supposed to be a valid repair partner).
Next to that, there is no such thing as a warranty 'certificate' when you get a phone in Holland. You have your proof of purchase, with warranty booklets by HTC. I've been everywhere in the world, but this is the only country still sticking to certificates and stamps..
Oh well, I thank you for your replies, they are appreciated!
Sorry about that, but think a little: we are living here from the beginning of our life . It is worst than anything

No worries mate, I am not blaming you
But i have some positive news. I went into a repair point from Cordon Electronics (Auchan/Titan) and explained them everything.
Last Friday I gave my phone with a proof of purchase to them, explaining that in Holland (where i bought the phone) does not have 'warranty certificates' and I showed them the HTC warranty booklet. They took my unit in (Friday night at 20.00) and just now i received an SMS, that the unit can be collected from the same point, repaired and all.
New mainboard, buttons, digitizer, LCD panel All in warranty. I guess when things can be explained properly and the person understands the situation, not much can go wrong
Can't wait to get my beloved HD2 back after work
Update
Went to the Service Point last night, only to find out they did replace the mainboard, and LCD, unfortunately, it did not fix the problem.
So again, it's in repair
