Everything seems utterly solid on my exec after I upgraded it to 1.06.00 last night!
Bluetooth call quality is brilliant, even though I live in the middle of nowhere I have an improved network signal (GSM/GPRS)
Will try UMTS & Video Calling tonight.
In the interim I've SFX packaged the Radio Only Upgrade and fired it onto the ftp site (link below)
:arrow:o2 Exec Radio 1.06.00 Upgrade.exe
To install the upgrade:
1) Fully Sync your handset
2) Remove SD & SIM Card
3) Soft Reset your Handset
4) Re-connect the handset so Active Sync restarts
5) Double click on the o2 Exec Radio 1.06.00 Upgrade.exe file and the updater program will autorun and upgrade your radio stack.
6) DO NOT INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS UNTIL TOLD BY A PROMPT
7) Viola! Radio 1.06.00!!!
this sounds interesting - where did you get the update from?
1) Downloaded it from the german T-Mobile site as a complete upgrade,
2) Extracted the radio_.nbf file,
3) Decoded, changed the network id to o2 from T-Mobile and re-encoded the .nbf file,
4) Repackaged it as an auto extract / run SFX archive with all the updating software.
5) Scanned and tested it
6) Uploaded it here!
okay, I hope this solves the Slow answering "problem".
When it does;
Can you explain in "dummy" language how to upgrade this to dutch t-mobile? which files do I nees to have in order to upgrade (only) the radio rom?
thx

oh - is that all?
sounds like a lot of work - thanks for posting it!
It should work first or second time (without closing the RUU update app)
if not I'll need to change the operator name for you!

Hi
Can you tell me is this Radio Rom compatabily with my Xda Executive I use the Vodafone network?
Will it lock the pda so I cannot use it for Vodafone anymore?
Is they any improvment in the time it take to ring I mean does it ring straight away or does it take three or four ring before the pda starts ringing?
Is the bluetooth better does it have A2DP now?
Thank you very much for the answer you can give me.
Regards
Gigino
I am not sure of the consequences of installing it with regard to Vodafone, I wouldn't say so but don't hold me to that! You assume all responsibility for applying such an update!
It works fine on my o2 Exec (on o2). Bluetooth is working better with faster data transfer speeds, better call quality (TX & RX) with my Motorola HS850 Headset.
GSM / GPRS is stable as ever, call answering times are better.
I'll test UMTS & Video (3G) tonight
As yet it doesn't support A2DP but this should come with the AKU2 upgrade. There is a beta version being trialled and initial results look great... A2DP will be a kick-ass application!
Good luck with the upgrade though!
I wonder if its workin with Vodafone SE ....
Is it possible to install this Radio Upgrade without losing all the data on the Exec?
I have!
Just make sure you only soft reset it afterwards as opposed to the usual and instructed "Hard Reset".

coolio... I'm off to the pub!
Hey guys,
Can you please post which networks / device variants you have loaded this new ROM onto and if it works or fails. I've no doubt the actual ROM works (I work in this line of things) just wondering if this ROM will be ok for all modem variants...
Thanks,
Gavin.
Once again, is this only workin with o2?
I installed it on my Tmobile NL Qtek 9000 and everything works.
:/
It is only for the PU10 device family as this is the value stated within the .nbf file.
Worked on my Jasjar with no problems. Just took a soft reset at the end.

and where can I download?

Hi,
sorry for eventually beeing unpolite, but have you ever tried to read a single post in this forum ?
Here is a complete forum called "Universal upgrading" .. there you will find all the answers to your questions.
If you don´t find them within 10 seconds, try the search. If you still don´t find it .. no, you don´t have the skills to upgrade your mda, you will toast it.

PS: if you still have questions AFTER you read, you are welcome to ask.
Download this file, it contains the I-Mate JASJAR Rom update with a No Device ID executable.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/MDA_PRO_JASJAR_ROM_UPGRADE_WWE_11353_137_10301.zip
Put the MDA in bootloader (Camera + Reset + Power)
Connect the device via USB
Run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
Once updated, press reset on the MDA Pro
That's it! Then you'll have a nice MDA pro with MSN, Skype and ALOT more free RAM!

I see that you have updated your MDA Pro with the IMate ROM Update, Im keen to do this but wanted to know what the pitfalls are?
What about connection settings? How can I get them back?
Does all the software work OK? Can you still Video call?
Ive had problems with the signal being a little poor in my area, does the radio upgrade seem to solve it or not.
Sorry for all the questions, but if I balls this up, I have no original ROM to go back to, as TMobile dont seem to release them on the net.
Any help you can give would be great
HI,
at least you should make a complete backup of your extended rom. There are all the files you may need to re-install the original customization, e.g. the original connection settings.

Problems
Its academic now really as I cant complete the upgrade, it comes up with the wrong country code error.
Is there a solution to this, mine is UK TMobile?
Did my MDA pro this morning
1. Make sure you are running form the bootloader or you cannot install as the id issue comes up. If you aren't sure about accessing the bootloader- run the update first - it will fail but phone should be in bootloader.
2. Disable USB connections in Activesync,
3. Re-run update - all should work fine.
The new rom includes a prompt on set-up for your carrier settings and should work fine without having to use the files from the extended rom backup you shoud make before playing with a new rom (allows you to install the specific customisations for your device
Thanks to the poster for the link to the files
Issues solved,
MS voice command now installs
Streaming video via ORB works (a bit gimmicky though and no full screen)No more t-mobile schemes - much nicer dial skin and today themes
It works fine, the T-Mobile MMS settings are installed for you (just select the network when going through setup on the PDA after the flash).
The GPRS / 3G settings you can add manually.
Access point: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: t-mobile
Password: one2one
Video calls etc work fine, because its all included in the I-Mate rom. What's more, it doesn't have that horrid T-mobile dialler theme!
Here is rom with new Radio ROM 1.04
http://extendedsystems.dk/download/qtek/2020i/WWE_Sonofon_11100_165_10400_Ship.exe
Enjoy
Thank for the new radio, but some how I got country erro on the processing upgrade.
Please Help.
is this for the xda 2i please ..only asking as i'm not sure
thanks
This rom is only for Alpine phones, thats the 2i, 2020i etc.
As soon as my broadband is working again (tomorrow hopefully) I'll post the O2 162 rom with the radio 1.04 update for the UK users and anyone else who wants it.
If you want to try this update on the 2i you will need to extract the files from the installer and locate a copy of maupgradeut_noid.exe and use that instead of the included installer. There are better instructions elsewhere on this site, just do a search for my name, I'll be in amongst it all somewhere.
cheers i'll give it a go but if you are doing it maybe i'll wait ,i've only just gone back to your old 1 tonight as i don't use blackberry & it seemed better than o2 update
I have just posted the ROM upgrade on the ftp site, the only change is the radio from 1.03 to 1.04. It seems to give a better signal strength than version 1.03 on my phone anyway.
Here's the link to download the O2 version I just combined
(Edited to working link
ftp://xda:[email protected] XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162_Radio_1.04.rar
1: Backup your contacts/device to Storage, Storage Card or PC. If you are using Ext Rom 1.11.162 now you can use full device backup to restore at the end to save you re-installing all your programs later.
2: Extract the ROM using Winrar to a folder of your choice.
3: Run MaUpgradeUT_Noid.exe. The install will fail, don't worry, just run it again without touching the phone.
4: When the upgrade has finished, do a hard reset by pressing the power button and reset button at the same time.
5: Install any programs and any data you backed up during step 1.
Good luck.
Excellent stuff
Upgraded and now running 1.04 radio and i can also say it has improved my signal strength too
Big thanks Pug for your work on the ROM image too, very much appreciated.
Hear, Hear. Many thanks to Pug, great work!
many thanks to Pug,
its work perfectly.....no more lag of ringtones or lag after green button pushed!! thanks Pug.....
i want to know about backup, after upgrade ROM, i cant restore back by backup. When using Backup Sprite, i will go back to old ROM after restore complete. any ideas????
@ Clustered
When you say it goes back to the old rom do you mean that the Radio rom is regerted back to 1.03 or that your extended rom goes back to 192 or whichever you are using?
Sprite backup should not revert the radio rom back to 1.03 as it should only do the file system of your device.
As far as the extended ROM version, all it is there for is to indicate the "update" status of the extended ROM and what software is installed in it. An asian rom may have a higher rom version but may be no newer or better than the european 162 rom. You're talking about comparing hedgehogs to wibbles, completely arbitary. As soon as you cook the extended ROM like I have it is completely meaningless anyway as the version number is no longer valid.
If you wish to change the version number yourself, use a registry editor and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\3RDVERSION and change the MSYSTEM value to whatever you like.
If I have the wrong end of the stick, I apologise otherwise I hope this helps.
huh!? are u mad at me ??? anyway, i just wanna tell that you're the great! thanks very much....
I'm not mad at you, just woke up from a night shift....bloody binmen.
Was just trying to figure out which rom was reverting and so on. Hope it was of use to you anyway.
Once again, sorry.

thanks for the update, the only problem i'm having is that even though i've got the in call volume as low as it will go it is still too loud to be comfortable which is a big change from the previous rom. Successfully upgraded my XDAIIi.....
I'm now with the latest ROM from O2 UK (1.11.169 WWE) and the Radio version 1.04.00
Hi, I'm from Malaysia and will this rom be able to use on my device?
I'm using XDA IIi and device id is PH10C.
I'm affraid there will be a problem for my local operator "Maxis".
@ ramnkc
To be honest I can't see a problem with this ROM working with your current operator. I'm pretty sure that others from your neck of the woods are using the ROM with no problems. The biggest problem you would have is that it wouldn't load all your GPRS, WAP, MMS, etc settings as it is a UK rom.
Make sure you can get hold of these settings off your current provider before you perform the upgrade. Or as an alternative, extract your current ROM and reload it back onto your phone using SD card.
thanks for the reply !
Well i guess i gonna wait for the official release coz so far i'm happy with it. Apart of the constant SD Card data missing after playback mid, mp3 or what ever music files from SD Card.
And i finally found out that it cause by SBP pocketplus which had an option to close all application once you tab on X. Once i turn that option off in pocket plus so far problem free.
Guys/gals out there have this problem ?
ykyloveu - Does this mean you have BB Connect as well? The only modified rom from here I can download is based on cer .112 The new rom for o2 with BBConnect is ver .169
Hi All,
I'm a bit of a newbie to this. I want to upgrade the ROM/ Extended ROM on my SPV M500 the current ROM version is:
Operator Version 6.06.1.175
ROM Version 1.06.00 WWE
ROM Date 01/06/2005
Radio Version 1.05.10
Extended ROM Version 1.06.175
I have found this on the Orange website: http://www.orange.ch/vrtmobilephones/offers/orangePhones/guidesLinks?ts=1137101642566
Is this the best one? I have seen on this forum some information about the Big Storage ROM. I hoped for a WM5 ROM but from what i have read this is not likely for the Magician.
If someone could give me guidance on what ROM to use and if there is an Idiots Guide/ How-To Guide on how to upgrade the ROM i would be very greatful.
Also, do i need to unlock my device? If so how do i do this and what tools do i need?
Regards
Barry
Idiot are your words, but a noob guide is here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade
The latest rom available is a 1.13WWE from T-Mobile. You'll loose all the Orange branding when you take that one. Explore the wiki for more info on backing up an existing rom & available roms etc.
M
Thanks for the advice.
When updating the ROM do I need to update the Radio and the Extended ROM?
OLTP - What is the A2DP BT Patch?
Barry,
A shipped-rom will always update the CE image (OS part & specific HTC drivers), the EXT_ROM (branding from the provider) & the Radio (phone, BT & IR) in one go. In your case make a copy from all your Orange cab-files in your ext-rom before upgrading with a non-Orange shipped-rom. You'll loose all your Orange settings etc in the upgrade process! To prevent the ext-rom from executing perform a soft-reset just after the init process from a hard-reset is finished. You got a few seconds for this before the popup with 'customizing' starts. Now the ext-rom is visible (not writeable) & you can back it up.
The A2DP patch http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33532&highlight=magician+stock+bt
allows you to stream stereo music to a stereo BT headset.
Cheers, M
OLTP,
Thanks for that. This may be a silly question but updating to a T-Mobile ROM won't affect my Orange SIM Card will it?
I have taken a look at the how to guide that you pointed me at, can you only backup the ROM to an SD card or can you back it up direct to the desktop? Im thinking not.
Hi,
Backup is fairly simple:
- get ntrw.exe from the ftp
- get romupdate http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=7510- get a SD-card > 64MB
- make backup of everything you want to keep from your magician & SD-card. everything will be wiped!!
- fully charge your magician
- uncheck usb connection in Act.sync on your PC
- put your magician in Bootloader (camera & power & soft-reset at the same time for a few seconds) wait till screen fades & reads 'serial v1.0x'. Screen is very dark since backlight is of.
- connect usb, now the screen reads 'usb v1.0x'
- start romupgrade on your pc
- pick the magician connection in the listbox, wces something I belief
- now a screen pops up
- type d2s in this screen
- follow progress on pc & magician
- wait till checksum finishes
- get SD from the magician & put it into a cardreader. DON'T FORMAT!!!
- put ntrw in C:\
- start a command window
- type on commandline: ntrw read myrom.nb1 [sd driveletter]:
- follow progress
- error at the end is normal
- finished
- reset your device & restore backup
A TMO rom won't affect your sim, the lock is somewhere else. There's a strange tool on the ftp, run it on your device & the lock is gone, veeeery strange ;-) But your warrenty might be gone as well, doing that it's all up to you.
M
Regards, M
Thanks for that OLTP.
I have another couple of questions if that is ok. In the Orange branded ROM, there are various applications like. Pocket Word and Excel, GPRS Monitor and Clearview Sutie. Do these come in the T-Mob ROM?
Also one of my biggest bugbears with the Orange ROM is the use of the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack. Does the T-Mobile ROM also use this?
Another nice to have if any can help is would some one be able to post some screen dumps of the T-Mobile interface please.
Barry,
when you make a backup of your ext-rom, you can install those cab-files again after the update. Word&Excel are in the OS-rom, gprs & clearvue are from Orange! & not included by TMO in the rom, but on CD. TMO will give you some white background with PINK accents by default on your today & dialpad. That's about it.
BT? again the M$ version. No great differnce to be expected in that.
If you ever decide to go for BS then you need the ext-rom copy as well & in your case I advice you very strong to have one.
Regards, m
OLTP,
Sorry to be a pain but i'm having one of those days and my brain is not working very well today. Would you explain the below????

Thanks again for all you help
Barry
Barry,
It's very simple, as usual: the ext-rom on your magician contains all kind of Orange stuff. When you flash a T-Mobile rom you get an ext-rom with TMO stuff, including gprs settings you definitely don't want. All Orange stuff in the rom is lost. That's why you need to backup the ext-rom.
When you ever apply BIG Storage you append the ext-rom to your current internal storage folder, increasing it by around 19MB. The ext-rom then no longer exists & all Orange or whatever stuff is in there is lost. So if you want some of the Orange stuff preserved make a backup, before you perform any rom-flashing.
Btw @ the wiki there's also the magician rom lay-out interesting to read at least once.
Regards, M

I have foudn this page:

Thank you
Hi
In this case, don't browse FTP directly.
Go to wiki page and everything will be clear to you
have fun
Just to clarify:
If I want to update my T-Mobile MDA VARIO Radio ROM, the correct one is in the FTP Site as follow:
Wizard/Radio_Roms/RADIO_ROM_Wizard_GSM_11210.exe
Is that correct? If yes, please let me know if there are ANY important steps that I need to follow to update the ROM (or this is just merely involve connecting to the PC using ActiveSync and execute the above).
I have CID and SIM unlocked my phone using the lokiwizard tool.

That will just update the GSM stack.
It wont affect the PDA functionality at all, or any apps. Just the GSM stack.
I've installed that same update on my USA TMO Wizard, and it updated flawlessly. The GSM stack seems more "snappy," but nothing much changes. I'm having a weird repeater issue in my office building, and it didn't help.

So this is the correct RADIO ROM update that has been widely reported to increase the effectiveness and sensitivity of the MDA Vario radio, right? Mainly, it's faster to re-acquire signal from say, inside a tunnel to outside.
Is my assumption correct? If yes, I am going to update my MDA VArio Radio ROM since it's now taking 1-5 minutes just to re-acquire signal.
Yes.
Wait, when I execute the file (RADIO_ROM_Wizard_GSM_11210.exe), it told me that this application will delete ALL data in the T-Mobile MDA.
I thought this is supposedly only used to update Radio ROM, NOT the entire device ROM.
If a delete is required, is it safe for me to restore back using a backup file (created using Sprite Backup) that is using the old Radio ROM?

I want to upgrade my 02 rom to the imate rom
which imate rom supports the aku2 patch, as o2 dont know when there going to release this support.
this is also my question, is it possible to use Imate Jasjar ROM for O2 Exec, and where i can get it , then i can use O2 software on new ROM ? Thank you.
YES!
I upgraded my O2 Exec to the new i-mate ROM and man.. it's like owning a completely different machine.
plenty of memory left ( i guess memory leaks were mostly fixed)
dazzling speed.
machine doesn't get stuck several times a day.
I am happy.
You have the official ROM. Search through it, I don't know in which thread I saw it, but the filename is: JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.zip
You should be able find it here using the search button.
Then you need to use a tool called maupgradeut_noid_645.exe
Also available here. It will allow to install the JASJAR ROM on O2 Exec. But I think your warrenty will voice.. unless you revert back to the O2 ROM which is downloadable from my-xda.com

From the link under i-mate in the wiki page for universal
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Upgrades
go to ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/
Get the file JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.zip. About 64Mb. Unzip the file twice & you will get the readme.doc file for the instruction.
Any idea where i can find maupgradeut_noid_645.exe? Tried search and tried the ftp, no luck.

Thanks for your replies and PMs, i-Mate rom is now installed
Also got fed up with waiting for O2 update and tonight loaded the imate rom and push email is working nicely . I will try and post some instructions tomorrow if I get chance.
what should be the final specs
mine are ROM 1.13.82 WWE
rom date 11/30/05
radio 1.09.00
protocol 42.42.P8
Ext ROM 1.13.188 WWE
ihave downloaded imate JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship should I update with this my O2 EXEC
Please advise
Here is the process as promised. There isnt too much too it so hopefully you will be able to understand my ramblings.
You need the Imate JASJAR rom file which I downloaded from
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Universal/Shipped_Complete_Updates/
The file that you need is JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.zip.
First thing to do is to extract the files in the exe. There are two ways you could do this.
You can do this by running the exe file this will extract the files into a temporary directory in your profile.. for example c:\documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Temp, look for a very recently created directory in there, don’t ok the error message that you get when you run the exe as it will delete the temporary files. Just copy the files out of the temp directory somewhere else.
OR
You can use winrar to extract the files from the exe. Extract all the files into a single flat directory. Remove all directory structures so that you are left with just one directory containing all the files. (didnt try this way but I presume it will work)
Then download this file
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/MaUpgradeUt_noID.zip
Extract the .exe in there to the same directory containing all your other files.
Then you need to make a small change to one of the text files. Look in the directory for
RUU.conf
Open it in notepad and add this line
[CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
then save it
That’s about it…..
Usual wavers at this point.. upgrading flash may lead to dead device.. do so at your own risk… invalidate warranty…etc etc
Once you have plucked up the courage connect your device up to Active sync and run the exe file that was contained in the MaUpgradeUt_noID.zip file that you downloaded.
It seemed to take around 30 mins for the whole update process.
Im just going through adding my applications again and setting up the Vodafone GPRS configuration but so far seems fine and push email works nice and fast so I am pleased I have made the change.
Hi jwarbutron,
Thanks for the walkthrough, Im following your instructions and have now started the upgrade.
I got past the screen where it tells me my current version numbers and what the new versions will be. I said OK, go for it, and now its displaying the 'Checking the information on your device .. please wait ..' screen, I presume I just wait for 30 mins or so and the upgrade is complete? There isn't a progress bar or another screen Im supposed to see?
Cheers
Nas
hanks jwarbutron,
Your procedure works like a charm Thanks once again . Pl let me know how to get original #D phone pad interface
Unfortunately it didn't work for me, I left my phone plugged in for about 4 hours, it still just displayed the checking page, and now my phone wont start. Switching it on, I see some text in portrait mode saying usb at the top, and v1.00 at the bottom.
I'll dig around this forum to see if I can find a solution.
Nas
Third attempt looks to be good though! Got the progress bar, upgrading now...
Nas
Just updated last night, and good grief the imate ROM is so much better.
Its much smoother, quicker and generally a much more pleasant experience.
Very much recommended to anyone who who has the Exec.
Cheers
Rich
Well, my upgrade completed, but I still get the portrait page with USB at the top and v1.00 at the bottom. The upgrade said it had completed successfully, is there a step I have missed?
Cheers
Nas
Im starting the upgrade again to see if I missed anything, I have the screen with the progress bar, so I know its doing *something*.
While its going, any ideas what I might of missed?
Thanks
Nas
