qtek s100 headphone jack 3pole? 4 pole? what does it mean?

question: i'm trying to find a suitable headset for my qtek s100, the ones i have do not work (they disconnect the call after a few minutes, whereas the original does not). but, i've been reading around and i've read some posts about 3 and 4 pole connectors? maybe this relates to my problem of disconnecting when using other then original headphones, so maybe someone can shed some light?
the original one is a 'gold' plug with 3 small rubber rings (thus separting the jack into 4 sections (is this what is meant with 4 pole)? the headsets that disconnect the call is a 'silver' jack with two rubber rings, separating it into 3 sections.
thus, why does the original headset work and the other ones (one noname, and one motorola (originally shipped with the motorola v66, 3 years ago). although the original one is stereo and the other two are just one earpiece (thus mono), this does not matter. a single earpiece headset is preffered by me. which ones work?
does anyone know where to buy replacement headphones (that work off course) and which one has some decent sound (if i want to use it as a mp3player, i'll have to buy stereo ones and then off course one with good sound)

I had the same decision.
In the end, to me it doesent matter what pole config i chose.
The headset i use is the shure i2c (link http://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/Products/Headsets/ISeries/us_pa_i2c_headset_content)
Sound isolating earphones might not be your 'thing' but im barely on the phone with anyone anyway. I use it all the time to answer calls though, and it works perfect for me, i havent been in a call longer then 5 minutes with this headset so i dont know if this headset will have the problems your describing.
Other then that, the only drawback i see is :
- no answer button
- have to switch the headphones to 'phone' mode (i use a alternate mp3 player), THEN press the XDA's green button to answer the call.
I'm a semi audio enthusist, and these headphones sound OK and arnt as detailed, sound wise to my non isolating earphones. Could of gotten better but these phone's do the job well without a huge price tag.

Hi there, I am looking for a mini-usb to 2.5mm headset adapter for this lovely new thing. I snagged an adapter at a truckstop that said it would work with razr et al. however it doesn't work with this, are the pinouts different perhaps? If so can someone recommend where I can get an adapter for it? Two reasons why I am searching. First my workphone is a nextel i265, which means no BT, and second because I would prefer to have one headset and swap between both phones, and given that statement, I absolutely LOVE the Jabra wired headsets. So please and thanks in advance for any kind of help that can be provided.

Normal stereo headphones are 3,5 mm, I guess you'll want those.. In this case check this out: 11 pin to 3,5 mm

Actually looking for the 2.5, not currently caring about the stereo capabilities of the headset, if I want an mp3 player, I will carry around the much less fragile ipod Nano. I am looking just for a normal headset for hands free use while driving a car, and unfortunately, it just doesn't look like, at least first glance, that I am going to be able to use the same headset for both, and will just need two different physical headsets *sigh*

I have a question that I've been trying to figure out for a little while now. I've been looking for a bluetooth receiver that has a 3.5mm stereo out to connect to an auxiliary port for a car. The closest thing I have seen is a nifty little piece of equipment put out by sony, model number MBR-100. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this with our phones (AT&T tilt), if it worked straight up, or if there was some tweaking that had to be done in order to make it work. I've been lurking around the forums and found a little info, but very mixed responses, so I figured I would ask.

Jabra BT3030, i know someone who actually uses this and they love it, plus its got the music controls and phone controls as well. its also got a mic built in so you can use it as a headset.

hm..........I just went ahead and got the mbr-100, however, god forbid that one doesn't work out, I'll give this one a shot. I somehow missed another guy's thread on here that had about 5 or 6 of em listed. Thanks though!!!

I use an Itech Bluetooth that has a 3.5mm jack, and bought a shortened (4inch) 3.5mm male to male jack. Plug it in the car when driving, now i have music and speaker phone using car speakers and just unplug and take it with me when i leave the car effortlessly.

02 Xda Atom Exec, is in Radio Mode!! Software problem

Dear Sir,
This problem occurred when I was listening to radio and I received a phone call. Then after I removed the headset speakers there was no sound from the speakers neither the mic worked.
My O2 XDA ATOM EXEC has gone in the Radio Mode. .i.e the speakers (both ear, above screen and the stereo speakers, bottom) and the mic are not working. the FM is on even without the headset and i can speak or receive the phone only via the wired 3.5mm jack Headset and mic.
The Stereo speakers are on only when i put the FM radio speaker on.
Some one suggested a Hard Reset or also pluggin and unplugging the Headset while keeping the Fm Radio Speakers on till it says the Headset is required for the radio to function. (it comes to normal now avoid using the headset!!
But still it is not working!!
Please guide me to a solution; I even performed the Hard reset still the phone is in Radio mode.
I have not upgraded the ROM. should i do that people say it reduces the ringtone volume?

I had the exact same problem you did. I fixed mine by very gently running a paperclip around the inside of the audio jack. Problem Solved!!!

hi guys i faced the same problem last week and i had to get it reparied from the repair shop and they informed me that the jack it not working properly and they will replace it with other jack which is used in sonyerricson cell phones as it is the same. I have got it done and now i have no problem.
Please try this method at the last.

i tried the paper clip idea and it worked.
About 5mm inside the earphone jack, on the side closest to the USB port, you can feel a small 'bump' (lets call it the g-spot!) as you run over it with the paper clip. Do this with an MP3 playing or something and voila.....the music comes out of the speaker again and the phone rings, i can talk to people again. Seems there is a fault in recognising whether the earpiece is plugged in or out as many have suggested.

i used the paper clip and slowly runned it around the Phone jack and the voice in the system came back!!

I have a feeling that this can't be done (because I looked into it with my XDA Exec a few years ago), but....
Is there any way that I can play mp3s via the extUSB into a car stereo (via an AUX in) and yet answer calls via the same stereo's integrated bluetooth via the headset profile?
The stereo would normally drop the AUX in sound for a bluetooth call, but clearly the extUSB would normally handle calls if a audio output device is plugged into it. With my Exec, I seem to remember that the hardwired audio output would be the default, and so the bluetooth would never engage.
If there is a hardware solution, I would be very keen to know! Even better if the extUSB also charged my Vario IV in a passive holder.

What about playing music through the blue tooth of your car stereo? Tricking the car into thinking its actually engaged in a call so it plays music. Might have to be something done on the phone side to transmit the music as a call and then when you receive a call the music stops and you can answer the call and when the call ends music resumes? Just a thought i dont know if it is possible at all. But you bring up a really good idea.

Thanks for the thought, but the stereo doesn't accept bluetooth streams - it simply just has the ability to act as a hands free device.
Any more thoughts anyone? (Although someone has just posted about a device that looks intriguing with AUX and power in)

Thank you too for the feedback, but I can't see a bluetooth device in your chain. Perhaps I wasn't clear in the original post, but in the end I suppose the question is can calls be handled over bluetooth when there is any audio outpu device plugged into the extUSB?

the answer is yes. that is what i do daily.
i listen to music through quality wired headphones, and when a call comes in i use my bt headset WITHOUT unplugging the headphones from extUSB.
all you need to do is answer the call using the answer button on your bt headset and not your phone.
in some phones, if you will press the send key on the phone and not the bt headset, the call will transfer to the phone instead of the bt headset.

Do you think it matters that you're using headphones rather than a headset? I'm just wondering, since you refer to headphones, if the lack of speaker in your wired device means the call will hand over to the BT device - this will allow me to work out what I need to buy.

hmm i think since your aux input wont really have a mic attached it should hand over the call to the bluetooth headset from what the other person is saying.

Hi, I don't know if this will apply to your stereo setup but I thought I would let you know my setup anyway.
I use the HTC multifunction audio cable http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=171925 which lets me charge my phone via a car charger and use the 3.5mm audio output to the stereos aux input at the same time - all of which are in center armrest compartment.
I use bluetooth connection to the factory installed bluetooth prep (BMW 3-Series). When a call comes in the TP pauses the audio and the BT phone then takes over. When the call ends the TP un-pauses the audio

I just installed a Blaupunkt MP57 on Sunday and did exactly what you're describing. Phone connected via aux playing music, answer or make calls via bluetooth on the stereo and the music pauses then restarts when the call is ended.

Both can send all outgoing audio from your WM device via BT headset channel instead of A2DP. It's not advanced audio but it will let you play audio over the headset BT channel. Sound can be tweaked using SRS WOW HD.
ExtUSB is just a port which will enable playing MP3 tracks on for example USB drive? Why not put your connection in USB mode then?

I'm not sure if this will help you, but I bought a Motorola Bluetooth Car Kit. I don't have the "phone" feature built into my car Stereo, so I used the external amplified speaker and mic for "phone" functions. The Car Kit has an Aux Out, with I feed into my car stereo. When I get into the car, the Bluetooth initiates two separate "connections". One for the "phone" and one for the "MP3 Player". You can have either one or both. The music plays through the car stereo (via the Aux Input) and phone calls play the the external Car Kit Speaker. It is like having two independent bluetooth "channels". When I have Voice Commander enabled, it communicates through the "phone" channel, i.e., the Car Kit mic and external speaker. That is also where my incoming email is announced through. My Garmin GPS "speaks" through the Aux out and the Car Stereo though. I'm not sure how these routes are selected. Personally, I would prefer that the GPS also communicated through the "phone" channel, that way if I am listening to the Radio, or Sirius, or a CD (not on AUX-IN), I would still here the GPS voice guidance. I'm not sure if that can be changed or not.

Tested it and Copilot and Music run from the Aux out. Bluetooth hand over perfectly. As an aside, I find WMP is a better MP3 player, simply because I can reduce the volume in the software, but leave Copilot to use the system volume at a slightly higher level so the voice doesn't get lost (the HTC player doesn't seem to have the same capability).
Could have bought the HTC branded device from the same place, but the main lead from the Ext USB is slightly longer and more inflexible so wouldn't easily fit under my car holder.
BTW, since I live close to the shop (plus I love instant gratification as opposed to mail order), I visited the Inkino shop in London. I must say that the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful and the shop has a huge range of HTC accessories (including a branded battery and extended battery for my Universal, which I am planning to resurrect). Not sure about the prices vs ebay, but for the bricks and mortar approach in the UK, where it is difficult to find anything HTC - 1st class!
