Hi. I'm using screen guard (from pocketmax) but I have some problems with this software. It does its job great concerning the key and screen locking, but this software drains my battery really fast because it doesn t really power off the ppc as it auto activates back when you push the unlocking keys (without need to push the power button). It s really useful when your progs connect to gprs or when you listen to mp3 because the device continues to work as normal. BUT...there is this battery drain (in 7 hours it goes from 100% to 10%), so I d like to know if anybody out there is using a key/screenlock software which doesn t really power off the ppc but which doesn t drain as much battery as screen guard does.
Thx by advance!

Firstly, a big thanks to everyone for all their help. As a relatively, well, simple user this forum has been great.
Something else I was wondering was that on my old pda it was possible to listen to music with the screen off (to save battery). It seems on the Atom this is possible as when I put it in standby mode the radio remains on, however when I try this using Media Player or TCPMP the music stops.
I have noticed that music does continue if I turn the backlight off, however as this does not seems to completly turn (the screen or the backlight) off, the battery is still used more than in standby mode ..... any ideas ?
It's possible that the radio is just independant hardware, like the phone (eg on the magician you can switch the phone to standby and still remain in a call).
But TCPMP etc are running software, so I think the best you'll get is screen off for those apps. There are certain power saving features you could implement, but screenoff is probably best for saving juice.

Hmmm ... seem to of missed the obvious with my own question. TCPMP comes with the option to assign "Screen Off" to a hotkey within the settings menu. With this done I can turn the screen off completely, keep the music (and phone) running and save precious battery life.
Hi all,
I was wondering if it's possible to lock the device and put the phone in standby in one go?
Often when you lock your phone you don't need it anymore and putting it in standby immediatly might save some precious battery juice...

or for example when in standby, when receiving a message .. the phone wakes it self up .. if you have to leave it in yur pocket, it means that you can touch the touch screen unwillingly.
So yes, I want to be able to lock my phone and put in into standy mode at the same time ;D

Hi twolf,
that thread has 32 pages, can you point me a bit closer to the standby thing? Thx!
cheers

just th first, its a software...
:/
quite aware of that but I don't want to alter my slider behaviour... maybe I'll send a message to the creator of the soft to see how he has added this functionality to his app.
cheers

Why not use key lock that's on the device already - put it into to standby and it locks the keys but wakes up on calls & messages.
Start - Setteings - Key Lock - Lock allbuttons except Power Button
well.. the normal keylock doesn't switch the mobile into standby, you need to wait a while before the auto-standby kicks in... and I really don't find the standby button convenient to press
I have the same problem
Another solution?
My standby buton don´t work
Use Slide2Unlock, you can tell it to lock the phone when it goes to standby
Thanks, but, the Slide2Unlock don´t power on my PDA.
the Standby botton, is the power on/off.
best regards
would there be an application that will turn on the device when it's OFF. Reason behind this is that my power button wasn't working anymore so I need an app to turn on my phone. Apparently, my alternate route is using AE button plus for turning off, and to turn on my phone is that I have to take out the stylus, but I noticed that it used to consume battery usage...if I take it out on the second time it will eat up 2% of the battery usage...and I had even tried using the switch display off/on with the AE button plus but it will make my usage with my phone for upto 8 complete hours only....before I can even use my phone upto 12-14 hours...
if not an application, maybe remapping or registry hack will help..
please I need some help..
thanks in advance
anyone who could share or help.....thanks
What type is ur pda? Do u mean turn on from COMPLETELY turn off?
Go to Start,Settings,System,Key Lock and set it to "Do not lock buttons".
This way, any button press on any button will wake the device. You might want to lock it before switching off so you don't dial people by mistake.
iam using HTC diamond and currently have the SUN 6.1 with 2.5 manila version, but it seems that the keylock doesn't work properly on that ROM
thanks for all your help, just asking some other options here
Hi guys,
I'm experiencing some failures of power button of my HTC HD mini: it sometimes does not power on my phone and I have to press it several time before it reacts...
As I do not want to buy a new phone, I'm exploring some alternative approaches to power on my phone (power off is not a problem as I can use some application to power it off).
Approach 1
I'm using G-trigger which has a power on feature which may configured to any phone shake and which works even when the phone is in stand-by.
That works properly but the problem is that querying the G-sensor lead to a fast battery drain, hence this solution is actually an extreme solution that I may use only with some enhancements…
Approach 1a
I tried to work of G-trigger service in two ways:
a. By night: I configured a profile disabling the G-trigger service by night and re-enabling it in the morning
b. When in stand-by: I tried to disable the G-trigger service when in stand-by and re-enabling it when the screen turns on again. Anyway I didn’t figure out how to understand when the screen is on (I tried by mortscript here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296958 but no success). Any idea??
Approach 2
I would try to use some of the volume button but I have no idea about: is there a way to trigger some program when the volume button is pressed when the phone is in stand-by
In conclusion, I don’t know how to proceed and I will appreciate any idea or suggestion.
Thanks in advance
After the Mango Update my Optimus 7 wakes up everytime i press the home button. This also happens in my pocket or phonesleeve because the button sticks out. So the screen is all day long on and drains battery like hell....
Is it possible by, for example, a register hack to disable this? so that my screen stays of and only be activated by the button on top.... and saves my battery?
I would like to know this also....
Anybody??
My phone never activated in my pocket because this button controlled by the light sensor
You're right.... 8-0
I never noticed this, because when I get the phone out of my pocket it is always on (I inadvertently press this button when getting it out of my pocket). As I understand now it is switching on at that moment... I want to switch off this button because of the spontaneous rebooting problem of the phone. This was introduced on my phone after updating to mango (7720). I must say, since updating to 8107 this has not reoccurred.
As long as this problem does not reoccur I don't really need to switch off the windows button as a 'on' switch.
Mine doesnt reboot on itself. But it eats battery as i wear it in my pocket all day.... and that sucks...

You may try to put your finger on the light sensor and try to press the home button .If this activate the phone is wrong .
Cool dude,.... didnt know that! it works as it should be. When i cover the sensor en press the home button the screen stays "of". I will try and find out if this helps when its in the phonepouch or pocket....
Maybe when i dissable the sensor in settings, that will help to...
Keep u posted
