Hey,
Has anyone else had problems receiving MMS messages on their XDA mini s? I have received the notification from someone but when i do a long click and select 'download message' nothing happens for ages then i get an error message saying the message cannot be downloaded.
Any ideas? I've had a search around the forum but couldn't find a solution
Problem solved!
I had no network. But wait - that doesn't make me as stupid as it should. I work in central London where i always get full reception and never normally even check my signal. However, it seems that after browsing some sites via WiFi my phone died for no reason. No amount of network searching would work and i had to do a soft reset to get it back. I guess i encountered my first real problem with this phone!

I have an UK o2 XDA Ignito (gsm diamond) and am running Nataly 2.5.1 ROM. Radio is 1.14.25.55.
Im finding a strange connection issue. I can use 'opera' whenever I want with no issues at all. I update my emails every 5mins which works 80% of the time. I also use pocketweather from SBSH. This updates every 2 hours but I cant manually or automatically update it?? Suddenly at some random time of day in a random place it will update but then thats it for days?? If I test the internet connection from inside pocketweather it confirms that with a certain proxy it had a successful connection to the net and opera works fine but it still wont update?? Any ideas? very annoying?
Dont know if its linked but Ive been having trouble with SMS too. I can be texting someone with no problems then suddenly I wont recieve a reply? Ill leave a while then respond again and suddenly after I send I recieve 2 or 3 messages (sent at the time the other person sent them but arrive all same time for me??) This is extremely annoying as missing some very important texts
Any advice would be much appreciated??
Hey
I know there are threads related to this issue where an Hero refuses to connect to a network (the bars has a x over the top) however i've discovered something strange with my hero.
With the correct data/apn settings the phone is connecting to the network and will allow me to browse the internet, post tweets etc etc, it actually allows me to do anything thats not phone related. I cannot make calls or sent text messages.
This phone was unlocked and working ok until one day it just stopped working with my network.
The hero is unlocked - I have tested it with Tmobile and Three and they both work. Any kind of o2 sim refuses to work....
Am i being a complete n00b and missing something here....?
Any help appreciated - I;ve spent weeks on this issue and almost ready to give up
Damon
Anyone having a similar issue to the above, I've found something that appears to help fix this.
Get AnyCut from the market place, create a shortcut to Phone info.
Launch phone info, turn off radio.
Now im not exactly sure why this works but change 'set preferred network type' to WCDMA Only and then renable the radio after a few moments, the singal returns.
Weird and very annoying.
Damonsk,
Can you point me to a solution for the other problem where the hero refuses to connect to a network (the bars has a x over the top). I have searched every term I can think of with no luck yet. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Can you normally receive MMS when on WiFi? I got one, it stuck at downloading so I turned off WiFi but it didn't download... Just hangs.
My wife and I are able to send and receive mms while on wifi. When I had sprint I noticed that if I didn't have a good signal the msg would fail to download. This happened quite a bit in my house because of the lack of signal I would get in there.
I have been having an issue where my MMS's will not download... dosent matter what app i use, they all say fail to download. I have a good signal and it just does not work! has anyone else had this issue and is there a fix for it? Or is it just Tmobile's ****ty service?
I'm having the same exact issue on cincinnati bell wireless with my vibrant, correct settings for sure too. I have had a nexus one settings should be and are identical. Please someone find a fix, can't use mms at all..
No issues here, unless I get mms while on the phone, sometimes it fails to download once I hang up. My girl has issue with them sending and downloading though, she's on my touch slide.

I connect fine and can surf the net and connect to the market, connect and send and recieve e-mails.
BUT when I go to try and look for software update I get this message "Network coverage is currently poor. Please move to a location with better coverage to continue." Also when I try to see my apps in the market I get this message "A network error has occured. Retry, or cancel and return to previous screen."
I am sitting like 2 feet from the router with a perfect signal.
Any thoughts?

I did a complete factory reset and everything is back to normal.....well after I set the tablet back to my custom settings.
I have the same issue :-(
google pushed this update to too many people all at once, problem is not with the tablets but at the server end, just wait
it's normal, simply check for update during late night should get yours update fine. acer's server is overwhelmed with everybody tried to get into acer..
same problem here, only happens when trying for update every thing else accessing wifi ok, been happening now for 3 days, s/w and hardware reset with no results, anybody have an answer yet.
So this has now happened to me twice, yesterday being the second time.
I'll get a notification for a message at the top, both times it has been after I already had another SMS message that I had not checked yet, then when I click on the notification to bring up the messaging app there is only one of the two messages waiting there in the list. Both times I have texted the person back and they did indeed send me some type of picture message. After resending I receive it the second time. It makes me worried that maybe we could be losing messages and not even know it. It seems to me this is a software bug (vs. Carrier problem since the phone shows a notification for the message)
Has anyone else seen this problem?
I'm on stock 4.2.2 but the first time it happened was on 4.2.1 about a month ago.
Yea, happen to me as well when I was connected to WiFi. Turned off the WiFi, and told them to send them again and it received them that time. Maybe an issue when connected to a WiFi connection?

I think you have to be connected to data in order to receive a MMS message. Wifi will not work. You will get a notification but no picture.
Of course you can't receive a MMS over a wifi, the problem is that the phone is not switching over to mobile data to receive pictures while connected to wifi. I also have this problem.

I don't quite understand your statement. You say you can receive MMS over wifi but then you say the phone has to switch to data in order to receive the picture? How is that different that what I said?
Sorry, autocorrect stole my apostrophe t. I meant cant as in can not.
I have the same issue. The slide down text msg notification icon reported 3 texts from 3 different senders. When I clicked on the icon I am taken to my text msg inbox but only 2 of the 3 text msgs where there. I then verified with my friend that he did indeed send me a text msg. I have never had an issue receiving MMS texts over WiFi. I use WiFi exclusively at work and home. So I had created the same type of thread on the androidcentral forums.
That's exactly what happened to me today, twice! My girlfriend sent me three MMS, I got the first one and two notifications after. But when tapped, all I saw was the first MMS.
My connection was poor, I thought that could be the cause...

Yea I was wondering if it is a carrier issue or if its LG or Google ?
I think a part of the issue is that the phone creates the notification the moment it recognizes that there is an incoming MMS instead of when the MMS is actually received and able to be viewed.

Well that would be fine if it is a preview of the MMS before it arrives, but when it never arrives is where the problem is. There has got to be a solution. I can't help but wonder whom has sent me a text of which I did not receive.
this happens to me also. its annoying. but i do have my wifi on all the time, so I will try it without wifi on, and see what happens.
I'm having this problem as well and I don't like any of the third-party apps. Has anyone found a fix? Thanks.
Well, I contacted T-Mobile, my carrier, and they went through a lot of troubleshooting. It basically came down to turning on mobile data alongside WiFi because apparently MMS msgs need data to send and receive. Sucks, but there it is.
