I have an i-Mate (v1.52.00WWE) and two (2) BlueTooth headset devices:
Parrot CK v3.11 - Car Kit
M3000 by Plantronics - Ear Piece
Both are bonded, but I guess I can only ever set one as my default at any time (obviously you can't have the call ringing in two places at once - but that would solve the problem!).
Is there a way of switching between them simply?, or having them 'auto select' the correct default profile?, or having them both active at once? I currently have to rediscover them to switch.
Would this be made easier if the i-Mate had both Headset and Handsfree (?) profiles? Is this available?
Hope its not such a silly question
Thanks in advance,
Ian
I have BT carkit, and BT handsfree,
and I have the same problem.
With my Nokia 6600, it works great,
there's no "default profile",
both works.
Even more confused now
Thanks for the reply - I'm even more confused.
What I ment to say that with the 6600 it works great,
unlink the i-mate pocket pc.
I have just purchased the xdaII and found this problem too...
Have you found out any more info on this?
The only thing i can do at the moment is rename the bluetooth device and it then prompts me to set as default...

Christian
Thanks for the tip
No I have not found out more.
I tried the widcomm drivers, but found headset was all screwed up.
Thanks for the tip on rename. I have been deleting and recreating.
Now we only need a application on the Today that can rename the two BT devices and back.
Maybey a reg.key-file we can 'click' ??
One more of the shortcommings of XDAII in anything related to the BT sofware.
I read about a new ROM version comming out soon, that is supposed to fix the those BT problems, Has anyone more info on that?

I just rx'd my Plantronics M3000 headset. It bonds to my XDA2 but I cannot for the life of me, answer or make a call with the headset.
1. When searching for a Bluetooth device, it finds the M3000 by Plantronics
2. I highlight it & tap next
3. I enter the bond code
4. I give it a name & tap finish.
Then it asks me, "This Bluetooth device supports headset profile, would you like to set it as your bluetooth headset?"
I answered Yes but I can't do the calling. Should this be answered No?
I originate a call on the XDA2, when it connects, I press and release the headset TALK button, hear a tone in the earpiece but the call never switches to the headset.
I have the green 3 sec blinking green light so unit is on. XDA2 has the blue indicator blinking.
Any feedback would be helpful since you do have the Plantronics,
Regards
Craig
Hi cshields1!
I don't have a Plantronics, but two SE HBH 30 and HBH 35 that work "somehow" with my XDAII.
First I would reccomend you to upgrade your ROM, since the Bluetooth radio stack of version 1.06.01 seem to have improved a bit over the previous ones (just in case you haven't yet)
Second, no matter what you do, actually you would NOT be able to initiate a call from your headset, you just can answer an incoming call and end a call, that is with the poor BT support in the XDAII.
Third, I'm not sure what you do, but please check:
- once your headset is bonded, turn your BT setting back to ON (BT icon on the bottom right of the Today screen)
- be sure your phone is NOT in flight mode
- Check that your "BT headset mode" in Today Screen is enabled
Tell me if this works.
I'm aware of the various BT issues with the XDA II, and therefore installed BT Tools thinking it may allow me to use my handfree kit. Unfortunately I'm experiencing problems and not sure if this is me doing something wrong or there is a problem with the software. Basically the XDA II does not route either incoming or outgoing calls via the handfrees unit. I have do the following:-
1. Installed the latest BT Tools.
2. Created a bond with the Nokia Handfree kit, when prompted for the BT profile (the BT Tools icon screen) I select headset only.
3. Enable BT on the XDA II
When I make or receive a call is there any button or menu I should be selecting to enable the handsfree unit?
From the Today screen, make sure bluetooth headset mode is enabled.
And if Bluetooth Headset Mode does not appear on the today screen:
Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items and make sure Profile is checked. That will put the headset mode switch on the Today screen.
Thanks for the suggestions, I must admit I had missed the headset profile on the Today screen.
Even with the device paired, BT enabled & the Headset enable neither incoming or outgoing calls are routed through the handsfree unit.
Any other suugestions welcomed...
With the new bluetooth tools you need to transfer the call to the headset...
I find the best way when dialing is to have the phone ready to dial, then i hit the answer button on the headset causing the phone to dial & transfer sound to the headset @ the same time.
When answering the call the headset should ring and you press the answer button on the headset to recieve the call.

When you say press the headset button are you referring to the headset icon on the XDA or the Nokia handsfree button?
If its the Nokia button , I'll try this tomorrow, if not, then the icon does not ring and when receiving a call it is covered by the incoming call window.
Many thanks...
the nokia headset button

Yep thats what I thought, I think I can confidently say there is a compatability issue with using the current version of BT Tools with the new Nokia CK-7W handsfree kit.
I've read the user manual for the handfree kit and that refers to switching/transferring the call between the BT devices using the button. The unit clicks as if there's something happening, but no call is heard, the unit works perfectly with a BT phone connected both Nokia & Motorola.
I would try uninstalling pocket BT tools - for using a headset it is of no additional value anyway. I do not have it installed and have never had any problems making or receiving calls with my SE HBH-30 headset.
Try using the earlier version of bluetooth tools, make sure you uninstall the version you have and also unbond/remove bluetooth pairings, rebond after successful install.
Pocket Bluetooth Tools is perfect! This is what I'm looking for, except I can't figure out how to listen to music thru my bluetooth headset.
Thanks for the great tool though, now I can make calls with my headset.

The BIG advantage is battery life and not having to re-enable the headset profile each time you switch on the phone! With both PBT and/or Profile not displayed, I also get more Today real estate to play with.
With BT on all the time, I'm lucky to get four hours usage out of my Xda II, with PBT turning it off after five minutes the time can go up to almost seven. Sure, there is a short lag between call coming in and the headset (HBH-65) ringing but I can live with that and it even works well with Pocket Zen Phone. I also like the last number redial facility it adds to my headset. PBT rocks!
I found one problem with this program. My device won't automatically turn off after installing this tool. The backlight turns off, but not the device after certain minutes set. Who do I report the problem too.
i have got this problem to carnt get the xda i to connect to my car blue tooth hands free kit it finds the kit but nothing gome on guy get ya thinking heads on n help  to revolve this problem

Hi everyone,
well, I got the same problem :x with my XDA2, also called Qtek 2020, and Nokia carkit 112. It just does'nt work, even with BT tools. But I wonder how you get the icon screen while connecting to your Nokia carkit...cause mine is going straight back to the "Bluetooth connected devices" screen. I only got the icon screen, enabling the profile selection, while connecting to my Nokia 6310i phone.
Let's hope that HTC is gonna come up with Handsfree profile soon...
Regards to all, special ones to our OZ friends!! Mates, I really enjoyed living in Sydney, even if Italy is quite convenient as well.

Hi,
I have a Vodafone P3600 which I had unlocked and flashed to test both HTC WM5 and Faman WM6 3.3 and 3.4. I have a problem using it with my Parrot CK3100, and it's the following: devices pair perfectly, but when I leave my car and then return, most of times P3600 does not connect with handsfree. Sometimes, it does connect, but after a long time. This occurs with any OS version I have tested.
A problem with CK3100 is discarded because I have flashed it with latest software version, and it was tested with a HP RW6815.
I tried disabling power saving, setting bluetooth as discoverable, installing Jetware, but nothing made it work as it should.
I'm near to sell my P3600 and buy a new HTC Touch only to solve this problem, because I need much a handsfree working in my car.
Can any of you give a hint of what the problem could be?
Thanks.
I forgot to say that if I power on my HTC, it always connect to the Parrot. But when it's in standby sometimes connects and others no.
I have an SonyEricsson HBH-DS200 and this works unfortunately with the P3600 also in a from you described way. I tryed AWE and PDAVIET and also AX3L ROMs.
Other points and problems with BT HandsFree are:
1.) A litle icon to show that the BT HansFree is connected will be showed in the status only after the first paaring. After that, nothing shows you, that the BT HansFree is connected (and therefor can be used) or not.
2.) After a phone call the BT HandsFree will be disconnected. That meanns, that I can not hear the phone ring in the earpice. I only hear it from the P3600. I have 2 choises after that:
a.) If I push te Answer button on the P3600, the voice is on the P3600.
b.) If I push the Answer button on the BT HansFree then the voice is on the BT HansFree (but it will be disconnected after the call).
3.) The volume can not be changed if I use the BT HandsFree. That means, the volume slide bar can be moved/changed, but this has no effect to the volume in the BT HansFree.
In my opinion if the paaring is done and the BT HandsFree is switched on it should be always:
- connected
- an icon in the status line appear
- the voice in the BT HandsFree - independent if the answer button is pushed on the phone or on the BT HandsFree
For me is the BT HandsFree very imortant, and I am a litle bit disappointed, that a device for 500 Eur works that buggy with a technology that is almost 10 year old.
Hello,
I have a problem with my new headset from Sony-Ericsson HBH-DS970. It works quite well, numbers are showed on the small display, keys are fully working with Mortplayer, audio is diverted on headset when a call is coming but..... but.... every time I lose the connection between headset and phone, I have to delete the device and pair them again. It doesn't connect himself automatically when in the phone range!!!!!!
is it possible to fix it? otherwise it is unusable.
thanks for help, sorry for bad english.

Have you tried hitting the "Play/Stop" button on the 970 to re-establish the broken connection? It should re-establish just fine long as Bluetooth is still turned on on your phone.
thank you very much for reply Sharnet,
nothing happen, even if pushing the phone button on the headset, very strange behaviour.
The only way to reconnect it, is to enable A2DP function pushing on the BT icon on the tray.
But Tytn II doesn't connect automatically BT device when in range?
thanks for answer,
best regards.

When I had the 970's and also my currently used 980's, they never auto paired just by turning on bluetooth on the phone - I always had to hit the "Play" button (NOT the phone button on the wires, the Play button near the display) on the 970/980 to get them to pair.
I do remember that the 970's have a button for "single/multi" mode - and they are very picky on being on the right position when pairing for the first time. Maybe try deleting the pair, change the button to the opposite of how you paired with it (when looking at the display, it is on the bottom right), re-pair.
Hi, I am trying to pair my old Nokia Bluetooth headset (BH-102) with my Topaz wihtout any luck. I have seen posts (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-345805.html, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457368) that have paired Nokia with HTC. Any ideas? The headset is not even found when I search for Bluetooth devices.
have you made sure your phone is on discoverable mode?
I've paired 2 different nokia bluetooth headphones to my Topaz without problem (as well as 2 Sony Ericsson ones)
"Make this device visible to other devices" is the option you must have checked (at least the first time)
Incase you don't have the manual:
"Clear settings or reset
To delete the pairings from the
headset, switch off the headset, and
press and hold the multifunction key
for over 8 seconds until the headset
beeps twice and the indicator light
flashes quickly."
then, once you're done that, switch your bluetooth on on your phone, make sure it's discoverable, then turn on your headset.
Thanks!! Worked like Magic! So dumb of me
